Concept: the justice league finds out that Blaze and Satanus, the rulers of hell, are kids of their ‘even more of a boy scout than Superman’ coworker’s “boss” and think Shazam is the Christian God. They ask Billy really vague questions that lead Billy into confusing them even more and they become convinced that Marvel’s Wizard guy is God with a capital G and Marvel’s either an angel or the second coming of Jesus.

Meanwhile Shazam doesn’t even know what the Bible is and his knowledge about religion is so outdated he still thinks Solomon’s Judaism is new age and not worth his time to research such a ‘fad’ religion, but he knows humans will make a religion out of anything as well as bastardize existing ones and very well could have mixed up actual tales that involve him, his allies, and his children into some sort of melting pot of a religion.

So when someone finally asks Marvel outright if his “boss” is God, Billy goes ‘wait… old guy in white robes and sandals, with long white hair and a beard… lives in space… aka the “heavens”, whose a ghost(Holy Spirit), and knows everything(historama)??? I need to dig deeper into this hold on guys’ and goes off to ask the wizard.

So when Billy asks the Wizard he just tells Billy “well, my boy, if so many things match up, maybe it is so and the tales of myself and my champions grew so estranged from their origins or mixed in with other beliefs that it can explain the things that aren’t true to our reality.”

Then The Canonical Character To The DC Universe, Jesus of Nazareth, shows up.

rewind the tape ep 2 question: Why do you think it's important for Louis to maintain the thread of his humanity, specifically by doing so through having a human meal he can't taste?

i had to answer this question bc i'm obsessed w it and what it reveals about louis narratively. i think it's important for louis to keep up the motions of humanity in a way that mimics connection. louis is desperate for authenticity but only if the gesture carries symbolism but the moment one imbues ritual into an action, the action is now a performance even if the audience is just the performer. i've talked about the usage of the golden spoon in this scene before but it adds an extra layer of performatism (in the post-postmodern sense) to the whole scene.

but on top of that performative aspect, i think it's interesting that the gesture of humanity louis chooses to preserve is eating food. this whole ep prominently features louis' struggles w hunting and how his vampiric hunger almost drove him to kill his nephew and further alienated him from his family, his human connections. the interview is also placed entirely in a dining room. daniel eats human food but these meals are more aesthetic than satiating w the presentation of an experimental fine dining establishment while louis drinks blood from a mysterious farm, eats a live fox, and then drinks from a human man all on the other side of the table. the way eating is presented in this ep feels almost hostile. daniel comments that louis "missed" several endangered species in what he chose to serve daniel, ultimately leading daniel to participate in predatory, unethical consumption alongside louis. and i think that's the point. serving daniel these meals attempts to force a reluctant empathy (one that daniel rejects and instead voices his disgust). and then he asks daniel this:

louis does. it's all he contemplates. what he eats and how he eats it symbolizes his separation from humanity. so in this mode of thinking, louis decides to make his tenuous tether to humanity by eating human food once a week. and the dish he chooses in this scene is taken from an emotionally significant moment from daniel's memoir, another act of proposed empathy between him and daniel. and while this moment is softer than the scene w the fox or damek, it still ends in this shot:

louis and daniel are sharing this meal and this moment but they're so far from each other. to me this demonstrates the futility of the gesture. they're physically performing the same action but their experience is so fundamentally different. louis is performing human actions but he is at this point so far removed from the concept

i've noticed a bit of discourse over the span of me being back here about peer recognition &what that does to a person's mental on socials.

idk if it's because of my inactivity or because i've just been on tumblr for 10+ years but it really puzzles me when i see someone fretting over the amount of notes and/or social engagement their posts seem to lack. of course we as humans love peer recognition &validation but i'd hate to think that's all some people care to focus on when it comes to their blogs.

i think we all should be posting whatever we want without trying to calculate how many notes we'll receive on any one single post because that's setting yourself up for disappointment. if you're a simblr.. i'd like to assume you came here because you enjoy playing your game, creating content or using it as a creative outlet to express your form of individuality.. the notes in this case should sort of act as a bonus.

people have lost their heads.. ranting in txt posts about their content "flopping" or feeling like they don't belong here.. &it's just like.. take a deep breath.. it's okay.. you'll survive. also idk what flopping is when it comes to simblr, because.. if i get anywhere between 10-100 notes from loyal followers that have engaged with me from day 1, can recognize my OCs &are genuinely paying attention to what's going on (because they care that much).. that's a hell of a lot more rewarding to me than amassing 500-1k notes because a popular simblr randomly decided to reblog me that day.

please learn to love your game, your blogs, your cc & yourself. because what's the point of notes if you're not even genuinely happy with your game in the first place? you'll continue to have unrealistic expectations &end up in that rabbithole of forcing yourself to do tzrs, spam liking &reblogging others just to get that in return &trust me it comes off super fake &people will notice that too.

So! As with literally everything in slavic mythology, their myth also has a bunch of different versions and a lot of things are unknown. This is just the myth i learned about, so please keep in mind that details may vary!

Jarilo is the god of fertility, springtime, vegetation, all that jazz. Morana is the goddess of winter, death, rebirth and probably some other things. Both of them are the children of the god Perun (god of thunder, lighting, war, sky.. most likely the supreme god of the pantheon). On the night of his birth, Jarilo was taken by Veles, god of the underworld, livestock, wild animals, pastures... (important detail: Veles was Perun's enemy) and he raised him as his own in the underworld. When Jarilo grew up, he went back the the world above, and his return was followed by spring and vegetation growth. Soon, Morana and Jarilo fell in love, and their marriage brought bountiful harvest and fertility to the earth,, even peace between Veles and Perun. However, Jarilo was unfaithful to Morana, so she (or Perun, or their brothers) kills him. Without him, she grows into a terrifying, old and worn goddess of winter, frost, death - and she eventually dies at the end of the year. But, Jarilo's life is tied to the cycle of vegetation, he is reborn each year and brings spring back with him. And so the myth repeats itself over and over again.

Technically, they wouldn't change much because they keep being reborn - but maybe all that killing and coming back to life takes a toll on you, who knows.
