Buddy Daddies Vol 3
Alright! I’m wide awake and have Buddy Daddies vol 3~ forgive my blankets in my pictures… I am not bothered to get out of bed…
Let’s begin!
The package arrived in shiny plastic - I noticed it was immediately lighter than the first two which had me worried lol. Nothing to worry — the bonuses this time were just very light/ small.
The box cover~ as I predicted in my last post, this one features Rei and Miri together with Kazuki alone. I was also correct about it being blue. I wanted a rainbow but hey, sticking thematically to colours works too!
We’ve all already seen Vol 4’s colour scheme so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that maybe we’ll get variations of red/ pink and blue.
Now inside! Disclaimer: this volume comes with a serial code for a digital copy of the entire series (Yay!) so for this reason, a couple of papers (with the serial code) are missing.
Edit: Turns out I cannot read as well as I thought I could without glasses - the code is actually for an hour special with Rei and Kazuki's voice actors. I can't share recordings or anything, but they play mini games. (Who can thread a needle the fastest, quizzes on small details in the anime [they had to remember what pattern was on Kazuki's underwear lol], folding socks fastest, a cook off where they make french toast and more!)
The DVD case! The only complaint I have about these cases is the fact that they don’t click shut — they’re cardboard, similar to the ED song album. My only fear is that stuff falls out as I put it away, but it’s a small fear and not really a big deal.
We have shopping with Kyu-Chan! And of course Rei and Miri on the DVD
Disc on the left is episodes 5 and 6…. And disc on the right is the Drama CD Vol 2!
(I’m not planning to immediately translate it as I’d like a break after I finish drama Vol 1, but if no one else does it, again, I’ll take a crack at it lol)
The booklet! Same stuff as before is in it: image references of scenes in the episodes (the daycare especially). And a new art! You may have seen the left side all over Twitter — well, the right side is here too! Since it’s for the drama, and the drama preview is about Kyu-Chan’s stalker… I’m guessing that might be her?
The drawing image is of all the children’s parents — with of course oil baron Rei and comedian Kazuki.
The caption in the bottom says:

Kindergarten student’s drawings.
Aaannnddd that’s a wrap! I’ll see y’all next time for Vol 4… (but I suspect you’ll be seeing me much sooner for the Drama Vol 1 translation)

Rei: I lost. [sigh] I'm... free now.
Receptionist: Good morning, Suwa-sama!
Rei: Room service. Beef curry, mild. And steak. And a cola.
Receptionist: Thank you so much for making use of our hotel's services! There's just the little question of payment...
Rei: ...out of service?
Receptionist: Yes! This credit card has been suspended. Do you have any other means of payment?
Receptionist: Hold up!
Driver: Hey, you! Watch where you're going!
Rei: This is bad. With the family card cancelled, I'm out of money!
Kazuki: Time to rake it in!
Carol: Ahhh! You're betting it all?
Dorothy: How bold, Kazu-kun!
Kazuki: I'm going for it today! I'll stake it all on a single throw, and in one fell swoop I'll be a rich- AAAARGH!
Girls: Come again!
Kazuki: [pathetic sneezing and snuffling] My life's... ended.
Kyutaro: Don't go round ending things on your own.
Kazuki: Kyu-chan!
Kyutaro: Kazuki. Come to Yadorigi.
[This drama CD will be included with volume 2 of the anime bluray, which will be out on April 26.]

So I was about to pre-order the Buddy Daddies bluray box (because, I mean, a physical copy? I need it!!), but the Crunchyroll store doesn't accept my phone number? And I can't checkout without it?
As far as I can see, they do ship internationally and to my country, so I don't get what's the problem?
Anyone know what to do?

Buddy Daddies Bluray Vol 2!
Im finally back home from Japan and can now share with you guys the Buddy Daddies bluray!
Quickly before I start:
If you’re outside of Japan and would like these, I have a post here detailing how to get them!
I bought this copy from Yobodashi, NOT animate, so unfortunately no bonus pic this time!
Let’s begin!
First, all the buddy daddies media currently available (not including the OP album cus that’s not BD branded)
The case! It went pink this time which, if we hadn’t seen “Daughter Daddies” I’d have found it somewhat weird. Idk if this is about to become a rainbow or what though. My guess would be vol 3 is blue.
Inside content! The red booklet features settings from the two episodes included (Vol 1 did this too) this vol however, also came with AAALLL the character designs - every character. Even the “mafia boss” as he’s titled from the first ep.
And finally the DVD case! The classic two page spread illustration for the back is adorable! I’m only sad that Rei was the one left out this time. Similar to vol 1 though, miri was the left out one there so my guess is kazuki will be vol 3.
Vol 3 design was already released actually so I’m fairly accurate!
The two discs are for the episodes and the Drama CD…
I’m tempted to provide a transcript and translate it… HOWEVER I admit that I struggle with listening to Japanese a bit. I rely on Japanese subtitles often and… well… audios don’t have that. So if I did do it, it may have errors.
I’ll think more on it…

just wanted to drop by and say thank you for doing the lord's work with those buddy daddies drama cds translations 🙏 i saw you mention that you were worried about translations being recontextualized and that is so true and such an interesting topic btw!!! but for the purposes of this translation i wouldn't worry too much about it, i think you're doing a great job and personally i think any translation we can get is already a HUGE blessing. especially because we wouldn't be able to access the drama cds otherwise since most of us don't speak japanese. so you're literally helping so many people who love this anime to be able to enjoy the cd dramas as well!! anyway just wanted to thank you so much for your hard work!!! it doesn't go unappreciated, trust me. (and if anyone complains about the translations at all let me know and i'll personally have some stern words and shake my fist at them lol)
You guys are honestly so sweet and supportive! Thank you so much for the kind words, I’m not used to such praise so I don’t usually know what to say but seeing everyone’s reactions has been very encouraging!!
I find translation to be interesting, I’m a bit of a literary nerd, in the sense of how a sentence is put together or grammar implements a language’s lexicon. In that regard, I’ve always known that some translations aren’t always accurate (dubs vs subs for example) but to experience the other side as a translator has been an interesting experience.
I’ve been in fandom for many years, and in the beginning, it was very hard to find Japanese exclusive content, so I’m always passionate about sharing the things not necessarily easy to access to all. I like to think I’m pretty resourceful, so I’ll tack on that if anyone ever needs to find something difficult to obtain like dramas, DVD’s, figures etc, I’m more than happy to help source it — it makes me sad to think that others aren’t able to easily access such things, or know where to look when it can actually be fairly easy. And although I’m not perfect at Japanese, I’d like to be able to do what I can!
So thank you anon for the kind words! Thankfully all of the fandom has been so kind as of late, I look forward to sharing the future dramas with y’all in a couple months!
— Oh! Completely random but I plan to sell my first three volumes of the buddy daddies anime (with drama 1 and 2) to anyone outside of Japan (I’d like someone who can’t easily access it to have them) so keep an eye for that post later!

Sat down and decided I’ll give the Buddy Daddies Drama CD a crack— gonna have to wait until my mother stops playing the sims to play the bluray on my PS4 tho (it’s almost midnight and that woman loves the Sims and it’s Mother’s Day so I wanna sorta let her be lol)
My Japanese listening isn’t accurate though and I saw some people offer their assistance— due to the format of the disk it’d take me a while to get an MP3 copy (and I’m wary of it leaking and copyright etc) so I’m hesitant for now to accept help, but multiple heads are better than one and we might be able to come up with a better localisation translated so I’ll think more on that as I give this an attempt~
ETA for translation: end of the week? I’m a bit busy so we’ll see

Buying Buddy Daddies media from Japan
I’ve been getting asked about where to get Buddy Daddies anime/ soundtrack, I’ll try to help here~
I’ll always recommend CD Japan, I’ve used them for years without issue (ships internationally, so all my aussie mates, we’re covered!) >>>
*Currently it’s only available in Japan as far as I’ve seen.
What’s included:
Anime: Currently, (5th April) BD is in the production phase of the individual limited volumes. Most animes do this, it’ll be two or three episodes, some bonus booklets/ CDs/ dramas etc. Buddy Daddies will have 6 volumes, around ¥7000 ($70) each. There’s also some extra character cards and goodies, check the Buddy Daddies site for more on each individual bundle!
There are no English dub or subtitles for this release.
Bluray is region free.*
Not complete series.
*Im basing this from CD Japan, I actually can’t find specifics on the box or the site so I’ll update this post with a definitive answer when I figure it out
Soundtrack: Three soundtracks exist. One for the OP by the artist, one for the ED by the artist, and one that is the ED by the artist plus a bonus track of Kazuki and Rei doing a “Lofi remix cover”
They’re a CD only.
No english.
First edition bundle of ED+Cover version comes with a mini print.
The disc case is cardboardish.
That last line feels important just cus, well , it’s not the most protective thing in the world I discovered.
English anime/ complete series: As of yet, neither exist. Mainly because the English dub is still underway. I’ve found that it’s the American release that’ll combine the entire series and a booklet of some content found in the Japan release.
Vol 2 will release by the end of April, I recommend looking at the site for the rest of the release dates!

The Impossible Task of Buddy Daddies Vol 2
Lemme tell you. Getting my hands on volume two was the most impossible task ever.
It released on the 26th. The only Animate in Japan that had it was in Osaka — aka 2 hour bullet train ride… which coincidentally, I can’t get on as my JR pass expired on the 25th.
I went to every Animate I could access by foot. I walked for hours.
Ikebukuro. Shibuya. Shinjuku. Akiba. Yokohama (by local train).
None had it.
The hotel front desk lady rang all the animates even — nothing.
27th and 28th I went to a flower garden, then rechecked shibuya and Shinjuku. Nothing.
Yesterday (29th) I decided I didn’t care for the bonus stuff animate gives you and tackled every digital media store in the same areas as animates.
Tower Records. Big Camera. Nothing.
Out of all 30 something stores, no one had it.
Did I mention that Golden Week (Japan’s national holiday) began this week? Creating mass delays, demands and sales?
Perfect timing! Especially since I leave Japan on the 1st. Aka in a few days.
Alas!
Yobodashi is still left.
Get there and the guy says “go to other building, 2nd floor”. It’s got two parallel buildings. There’s a lot of those here in Japan.
Guy THERE says “other building, 3rd floor.”
Guy THERE says “other building, 7th floor.”
And finally! The guy says there’s two left by some miracle… it’s only in Akiba.
In my desperation I ask him if it can be transferred to this store - I cannot afford to walk to Akiba because I have plans for the next couple days.
He said yes!
And here we are!!!
Finally it is mine.

So I’m selling my first 3 volumes of Buddy Daddies.
I’m not crazy!
They didn’t announce new bulk purchase bonuses till AFTER I’d bought half of the series from various vendors.
So now I’ll have duplicates of the first 3. (curse you Buddy Daddies, why couldn’t you have announced this earlier!) If you want them, feel free to DM me.
Price: I’m keeping it to retail cost of the volumes, essentially the same as what I paid. Shipping at buyer’s expense, PayPal only.
What’s included:
- All three volumes have their own mini art book and Episode booklet
- Vol 2 and 3 have the first two drama CDs.
-Vol 1-3 are the first half of the Buddy Daddies Anime. 2 episodes per vol.
- There are NO SUBTITLES.
- REGION FREE Bluray Discs/ Drama CDs

Please note: My copies aren’t in their shrink-wrap anymore, so I’ll give you the 3 from the box set when they ship later in the year that are.(August) You will have to wait until then.

I can, and if no one here or on Twitter is interested, I will. I’d like to open this up to the fans first, scalpers tend to buy up Japanese editions quickly and so I’d like to make this Anime accessible to fans outside of Japan
(For those wondering, I have to get a friend to ship the series from Japan for me. This is not available internationally otherwise.)
