I’m halfway through “Mister Impossible” right now and ohmygod I HATE Bryde. He goes on his long-ass rants which say a whole lot of nothing that go on for PAGES. Every chapters he’s in I skim. I swear to God-

ok, I can't stop thinking about @geisofbullshit 's post about how Ronan IS Bryde, and what that means for the story and his family.

I'm obsessed with the way these books take YA to the next step. I love YA, I loved the raven cycle, I will read the shit out of a "finding yourself" story. But I'm also a Old, and the dreamer trilogy's focus on what's next - now you "know" who you are, but what's it like to live that? how do you make it work? - is so great. is this simple and clear answer you worked so hard to discover actually The Answer? and of course it's not - now you have to deal with the world in a new way, and you will keep changing and honing who you are as long as you're alive.

which is to say, that Ronan has always had a super black & white moral code. and Bryde was created that way. but Bryde says regularly through mi that it's all so much more complex and confusing now that he's out in the world. as one-track-minded, sure of himself as Bryde is, he's starting to see that holding fast to Unchanging Right and Wrong isn't as simple as it seems.

and maybe through letting that part of himself out via Bryde will help Ronan to see that the world is more complex, and that he and the world both deserve a little more compassion

kavinsky may have died in the dream thieves but you cannot convince me that his presence and memory didn't shape ronan's "ecoterrorism driven by my own subconscious" plotline in the dreamer trilogy. he would have loved that shit. u never forget ur worst and whatnot
