once again pretty much everything. he's 50, the mustache, the eyeliner, the eyelashes, the glasses, the cool cape, i like how his outfit blends fantasy elements without being too made-up, ulysses butterflies are my favorite, the military touches are neat, he has pointy teeth for no reason, how deep his voice can get, the RAITA hands, the black gloves, the shoes, the skirt-apron thing in gray collar, the coffin, he's funny, he's cool, he's evil, he's weird, he's smug. he represents a real high point in FGO with shinjuku.

it's not a proper "nOTP" as the kids would call it, but (and i must stress that this is my great mouse detective bias showing) i prefer moriarty and sherlock having a sort of "bitter exes" dynamic (even if they were never actually involved) instead of romantically pairing them.

for one thing i just think it's really funny, but also i do find the idea of moriarty trying to "get over" someone he was literally made to exist around compelling, and i think especially post-shinjuku makes that another viable route to take with his character.

Fate Fanservant: Bruce Cipher, the Master with a Mystical Worldview

Alright! It’s time! This! Is my BIG! FUCKING THING! (/ref, /pos)

Content warning for the song “Abnormality Dancing Girl,” repetition, anger caps, unreality, and mentions of blood under the cut.

Ascension Stages

Stage 1: A young, unassuming AFAB person, aside from the eyes with +-shaped pupils and cyan sclera. They have rosy skin and a dirty blonde bob cut, and are wearing black pants and a blue long-sleeved shirt with black stripes. They looks unsure of themself.

Stage 2: Bruce’s teeth have turned sharp and silver, and the Foreigner has sprouted three tails, each ending with a heart of a different color (cyan, lavender, and magenta). Bruce now wears a dark blue dress shirt with a black tie, a long blue trench coat with silver streaks, black gloves, and black knee-high boots with heels. Bruce is beaming with pride.

Stage 3: Bruce’s skin has turned light blue and their hair purple. The hair now flares out further and curls inward. Bruce’s gloves have turned into black goop crawling up the Foreigner’s arms. Bruce now wears a blue leotard with dark blue fishnet tights and a giant dark grey feather boa. The Foreigner looks down on the viewer sternly.

Final Ascension: Bruce is propped up on one knee, holding themself up with a giant pair of scissors (not the ones you’re probably thinking of, though). The Foreigner looks exhausted and enraged, with blood dripping down the right side of their face (the viewer’s left-hand side). Their character art is split in two, with the left-hand side using their second ascension design and the right-hand side using the design from Stage 3.

I don’t have a fancy in-universe explanation for this one. I just wanted to make Bruce’s genderfluidity a gameplay mechanic.

(FGO Effect):

Change Gender trait at the beginning of each turn after the first, based on the following criteria:

Male: number of buffs greater than number of debuffs

Female: number of debuffs greater than number of buffs

Genderless (default for first turn and outside of battle): number of buffs equal to number of debuffs

Existence Outside the Domain D+:

Due to the nature of the Mystic Eyes of Story Perception, Bruce essentially lives with another layer of reality affecting their vision. As the Mystic Eyes are inherent to Bruce’s Spirit Origin, they would still have Foreigner traits, including this skill, if summoned in another class. However, being put in the class has boosted this skill’s rank from D to D+.

(FGO Effect):

Gain 2 critical stars every turn.

Increase own debuff resistance by 5%.

Mystic Eyes of Story Perception EX:

A trait that allows one to see “the universe’s plans for a narrative.” If the current course of events is projected down a path that can be considered a “story,” Bruce can see how that story is expected to play out, as well as vital information about the “characters” therein. This allows Bruce to discern most Servants’ True Names, Active Skills, and major Noble Phantasms.

(FGO Effect):

Chance to inflict Skill Seal for two turns.

Chance to inflict Noble Phantasm Seal for two turns.

Supporting Curse (Faust) A+:

Bruce’s experience as a parallel Master of Chaldea is intrinsically tied to the Heroic Spirit Mephistopheles, who was by their side throughout the entire ordeal. This has severely affected Bruce’s manifestation as a Servant, although the Foreigner wouldn’t have it any other way. Tails, fighting with scissors… and as for this skill in particular, it is a manifestation of one of Mephisto’s own skills, albeit diluted. With this skill, Bruce essentially channels Mephistopheles’ Impotent Rage skill.

Decrease attack for one enemy for two turns.

Decrease defense for one enemy for two turns.

The only way for a “character” to be immune to the Mystic Eyes would be by possessing a skill such as Presence Concealment at a higher rank, but since multiple factors have boosted the Eyes’ rank to EX, this is effectively impossible.

It should be noted, however, that sufficiently derailing the “story” will cause the Mystic Eyes to stop working.

Movies/Books that Summarize You: Oooh, that’s a tough question. I don’t think I have a solid answer for you, though. ^^; I mean, closest is one of my most influential/formative media, in which case would probably be things like Shaman King, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Slayers. Also Undertale Some mash-up of genres there, I know. XD

Favorite Song: The answer to that really, really varies based on my mood, the time of year, etc. Some that immediately come to mind though are Give a Reason by Megumi Hayashibara, half of Toby Fox’s discography frankly, and Love Like You by Rebecca Sugar.

Instrument: voice and a bit of piano. Voice more, though, if it counts. Like I have an ear to play piano semi-decently but I really need to put in the practice and discipline to get truly good at it, which I haven’t had the chance for except one semester-long college class that I just kinda gave up on 3/4 of the way through due to other commitments at that time.

Hi there, I like the post where a female master gets... Really excited over the muscular male servants. Can you do the opposite, where it's a male master getting excited over his muscular female servants? I dunno how far you are in FGO, so I'm not sure if I can say their names, but I'd like for Quetzalcoatl and Mordred to be among them

My progression in FGO is all outta whack lmao. I'm halfway through Camelot, but watched the Babylonian anime because...Gilgamesh. Anyways muscular women good

- Master is trying his very best to not let it show how flustered he gets, but...there are SO many female warriors in Chaldea and it's not exactly easy to miss that!

- He's fairly certain his soul ascended when Quetzalcoatl threw one of her arms around his neck, leaning on his shoulders. He most certainly ascended in a less comfortable way when he foolishly agreed to a bit of wrestling. His spine will never be the same again, but it was absolutely worth it. Even if he's struggling to look Quetz in the eye lately.

- She didn't realize at first what the issue was, assuming he was just embarrassed to lose. She tries to reassure him, but eventually the truth comes spilling out that he just really,, likes women with muscles. This is a bit of a surprise, but while Quetz plays at being flustered...she can't help but be amused. If she happens to flex and stretch and show off more in front of her Master, then she won't admit to anything!

- Mordred isn't sure why their Master started stuttering and flushing when they took off their armor. It's hot, damn it! You weren't overheating before, what's the issue? Nothing? Sounds like bullshit...but whatever! Let's keep going!

- Mordred is...a Pendragon, and that means being legendarily dense. Good luck, Master. There is no end to the fighting and showing off and thoughtless stretching.

- Fate artists are cowards who don't draw women with lots of muscle, but I am here to announce that Boudica looks like she could kick the head off a horse if she tried, and she's proud. She was a warrior queen, damn it! She wielded a heavy shield on one arm, a sword in the other. She's got some strong arms, and good shoulders to boot. Master is dying a little. Women hot. Someone send help.

- No one is sending help. Boudica doesn't realize why he's blushing or flustered. She will become flustered if he admits to the why of it. It's flattering! But she isn't sure of how she feels about it!

- Penthesilia...maybe don't with this one, bud. She could crush a watermelon with any limb and Master's head will be on the roster if any comments about her appearance are made. Best to just admire discretely, and not too much.

Honestly, since Bunyan is a Riyo character I'm 100% certain that Riyo is behind this change in Bunyan and the fgo heads just approved the decision. Also yeah, Riyo's "humor" consists of trashing the fgo playerbase for playing the game, implying that yuri is the one true way of all relationships and just making fun of everyone that isn't him. Notable mention of course being Riyo's talent for perverting many player's perceptions of fgo characters.

The problem with Riyo is that (besides being a comedy series that isn't funny) Riyo is part of Type Moon. This isn't some armchair critic mocking the series, this is someone who is part of the developers and high up to boot. It's someone with actual influence on the series pointing out all these genuine flaws with said series and no one doing anything about them. At BEST it's a case of the developers acknowledging all these problems with the series and just refusing to fix them because it makes them more money not to and hoping to cash in on that acknowledgement as a shitty attempt at comedy, like I usually phrase it. At WORST though? It's an active attempt to undermine those criticisms by repeating them under the label of exaggerated parody. And regardless of which it is it already has the clearly intended effect of normalizing these issues as things that "can't be helped".

Then on top of that, you have the thing you mentioned about perverted perceptions. The problem with Riyo's "creepy players and overtly sexualized and even abused characters" schtick is that there is not just a real subset of players like that, those players are explicitly the horny whales that the developers ACTIVELY APPEAL TO. That's not even getting into flanderization, which frankly I wont be because that twat doesn't deserve any more of my time when I've made my points so very clear by now.

Honestly...I love d’Eon so much...

it’s been less than a year and i already have massive concerns about genshin’s longevity - or at the very least its meta.

My experience with gacha games boils down to Fate/Grand Order, Fire Emblem Heroes, Kingdom Hearts Union Cross and Final Fantasy Dissidia Opera Omnia. All of these had their own ways of keeping people spending money rolling:

FEH and KHUX have aggressive PVP with constantly updating metas that mean if you want to keep up, you have to get the newest Hero/Medals. Sometimes, they even deign to tell a story.

FEH also sells characters you already like in cute costumes, which is something.

Dissidia also has a constantly evolving meta, but it’s centred around raid battles and events that are hard to keep up with if you aren’t keeping up to date. It also drops large story updates pretty regularly for the folks just here for that.

FGO has no multiplayer aspects that actually matter, but frequently drops huge story events along with almost every new Servant. You can play FGO completely F2P with a bit of ingenuity, but the game keeps you rolling by getting you emotionally invested in its characters, the bastards. FGO drops more story content in one event than others do in a year and usually has better/more engaging storytelling to boot.

Genshin has none of these things. It’s already getting pretty bad with powercreep in its new units, but the gameplay isn’t difficult enough to actually need it. There’s no PVP or any substitute, so it’s not like you’re being pressured to roll to keep up with the game.

Storytelling? Not really. Genshin’s story is very weak, and it relies on pretty trailers and cramming as much information as possible into a character’s profile than actually doing anything engaging with any of the units it drops on-screen. (I will actually never forgive Genshin for hyping up Xiao’s demon-fighting dance in the Lantern Rite in his profile and then not actually even mentioning it in the damn Lantern Rite event. I was already pretty :/ after the anticlimactic Fischl/Mona and Albedo events, but that? Holy shit, that was bad.)

Genshin has character chapters, but they’re very short and not super meaty. I don’t want to say FGO gave me standards, but it gave me standards - even if I don’t even like the new character being sold to me an event, the event is usually pretty long and tells an entire complete story. An FGO event can take days and at the very least has a lot of rewards and challenge quests - a Genshin character story takes like. Half an hour. You might get 4exp books. Maybe some primos.

Genshin is constantly just dangling characters over your head either saying “look how cool this character used to be!” or “maybe this character’s backstory will payoff in the future!” to distract you from the fact that these characters aren’t really doing anything now, and both of those things are deeply uninteresting to me. Or, well, the things the characters are doing now are painfully mundane. One of the 3. About the only successful subversion so far has been Childe’s quest, which was actually pretty solid. There’s been an Attempt with Zhongli and Xiao, but... Zhongli’s quests are... pretty indicative of the issues with his writing, and Xiao.... see: lantern rite salt

And... there’s very little to do in game once you’ve reached a certain point. You can grind dailies (the same ones on loop), you can artifact farm (at this point I’m pretty sure artifact farming is just self harm) or you can do Spiral Abyss... again... it’s been exactly the same since January... yay...

All of this added up makes me seriously concerned about Genshin’s longevity - which sucks because, well, I’m sure there’s an interesting plot in there somewhere, but I’m really not sure that Mihoyo is up to telling it.

Another weekend has come and gone and still no Gunzo date translations

I could just give my usual excuse of being busy with life things (which is actually legit) and fgo (actually not legit since we are in our first dead week since like June or something, it’s been a while). But in reality I was busy playing a free game that I wanna talk about. It’s called Worst Dating Sim and it is made by Saturn (https://twitter.com/hokawazu). It is a dating sim where so far there is only one dateable character, nearly 70 bad endings, and no save feature of any kind. And if you happen to choose wrongly and get a bad ending it starts you all the way back at the beginning. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s as bad as it sounds. But it is still an enjoyable experience with a very good boy that you can end up with if you stick through it till the end. This game is rated PG 16.

You play as 18 year old high school student *insert name here* but after a while you’ll probably just go with the default name of Shujinko because it’s faster than typing your name every time you restart (you’ll restart A LOT). You have a fear of thugs and walking alone in the dark because one time you were walking alone in the dark and were beat up by thugs. So of course you’re walking home alone in the dark and step on the back of someone’s boot. This someone is 23 year old Etsuji, a tall hunk thug who is now threatening to beat you up. You have to try to convince him to not beat you up or you get a game over. Now I’m not gonna give you the answers, since that kinda defeats the purpose of what this game wants to achieve of seeing who is masochistic enough to endure through till the end. Just know Etsu wants to be bros, wants to be seen as masculine at all times, and isn’t too keen on public displays of affection. So while you may want to nuzzle your face in his chest two seconds after meeting him, but do be warned, that WILL result in a game over (not technically giving you the answer to that, just steering you away from a wrong decision). Here’s some of my favorite moments with a little extra spice at the end.
