Yesterday on Twitter Discotek Media announced that they'll be releasing Jeans Blues: No Future (ジーンズブルース 明日なき無頼派) on blu-ray this summer.
Released in 1974, directed by Sadao Nakajima (中島貞夫) and starring Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子) and Tsunehiko Watase (渡瀬恒彦), it's only ever been available on DVD in Japan, although you can get a bootleg DVD with English subs in certain places on the internet.
No date or real specs yet, but hopefully those are coming soon.

@pearlytook ILU thank you so much for my LIFE this is exactly what I need to wake up to every morning 😱😍❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM HOLY FUDGE LOOK AT THEM!!! 😱😱😱😱
Keith is Superman 😍
Nathan is freaking posed like a sexy comic book heroine and I'm like the opposite of mad about it 😳
(Also their eyes are not very clearly visible but if she's looking at Keith's ass I will PERISH)
And then on the actual disc cover ASGSKSHDHSHSBSFJKFJSHS
Nathan is so tall! Keith is so tiny!!!
(And why did they make it look at first glance like she's reaching for his crotch WTF I can't deal with this)
This is an attempt on my life
I'm dying happy, though. ❤️💜

My ode to Clarence: a home release of the entire show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had this planned as the day was nearer, so that meant making an original cover rather than rely on promo art with just Clarence, Jeff and Sumo; I wanted Mary, Chad and their friends alongside them.
Mary, Chad, Amy, Belson, Dustin, Nathan, Percy, Kimby, and Breehn were all made prior as separate character images, which took me around an hour and a half in placing each character, putting consistent shading on the right-sided characters, and adding Percy as I never made an existing vector before (mostly because he was my least favorite character). Meanwhile, Clarence, Sumo and Jeff, close to the cover, were made for this, which took me around an hour or so less by tracing existing art I made of them to save time. The "The Complete Series" text was made by tracing the letters from the show's end credits rather than make them in the same font as the title. All this was a big task, but to quote Clarence, it was worth it.
The DVD cover was taken from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: The Complete Series, with its cover removed with PhotoLayers.
Originally, I almost thought about making a version of this without the digital code, which is basically the Blu-ray Disc logo in place of the "Blu-ray + Digital Code" text
Now Clarence has been my favorite show ever since around 2015 and I still love it to this day. If you love the show, too, express your love in the comments.

This is a world of magic. This is a world in which magic is casually used by everyone. In a deep, dark forest in this world of magic, there is a boy who is single-mindedly working out. His name is Mash Burnedead, and he has a secret. He can't use magic.

These are all the posters and covers I could find for All Dogs go to Heaven. Shame this one wasn’t promoted as much as Bluth’s previous 3 films, because I really do feel like this is one of his better works (if not “best”).
And by the way, whoever did the cover art for the blu-ray needs to be fired (literally, why is Anne-Marie giving Charlie the bedroom eyes?! She’s a little girl)!

So last week, after finishing @re-dracula, I decided to make a re-watch of that Nineties Coppola Dracula movie with my SO, who just really loves this flick. And, well. There's quite some stuff to unpack now. And I will do so, tomorrow or so.
But for now, I just want to talk about one thing:
Tumblr media
This. This is why this movie will never be a total disaster to me. That's the one thing that it, as a movie, can add to the story. We can discuss the use of movie adaptations all day, but thanks to this arousing little gemstone of a quick scene, we don't have to in the case of Dracula (1992). Because this is a scene that is not in the book. Because it wouldn't work in the book.
This scene only makes sense in a visual medium like film. It has to be quick, almost in passing. It has to be told visually, or else it's either too complex or too simple to have an effect on the audience. And, of course, it has to be played by a goshdarn genius of an actor.
Plus, this scene only makes sense because Jonathan doesn't notice it, which makes it an impossible thing to tell in the novel, where all we have is Jonathan's point of view. And, best of all, this also means that this way it does not contradict the source material. Which s just so fucking clever!
This sexy act of midnight snacking is the perfect addendum to an already great scene. It's cinema gaining bragging rights. Here, Coppola made everything right. He had the Count enter, he had him say "Fowl Bauble of Man's Vanity" *fangirl shriek*, and then he ended this climax in the best way possible. Up to this point, the scene is perfect enough to let me even glance over the missing Yeet Mirror scene.
But enough talking. Let's watch it once more. Slowly. And really savour it.

Gosh. Oldman. You gorgeous bastard.
(Thanks to @diablito666 for this dashing slowmo. I needed that.)

TPN Committee: Yeah we’re going to horribly truncate this anime adaption by cutting 50+ chapters, removing so much of the nuance people loved about the original story and make it the greatest disappointment of Winter 2021 after the first season was a critical darling, but as compensation you can have some REN Rights in the form of this album cover that wouldn't be out of place for a shoujo series

Devilman 惡魔人 1972 series custom criterion collection blu-ray cover design ((just for fun

To celebrate Kung Fu Panda 4 now released on digital, I figured I'd make my take on the 4K, as well as DVD, and Blu-ray.
The first cover I started with was the DVD back cover, which was on April 3 during midnight; I stopped to watch the first three Kung Fu Panda movies on Blu-ray for the first time. I didn't resume my work until around April 7, where I later worked on the Blu-ray and 4K's back cover art. As I wanted to have the my Paramount Home Entertainment 4K back cover to match with the official Universal Pictures Home Entertainment 4K's; that also meant doing the same for the DVD and Blu-ray back covers. Of course, I wanted the back covers to match with the most latest back covers of Paramount Home Entertainment's releases, so I looked at a variety of the late 2023 covers and early 2024 covers for the text and pacing of the jargon on the back covers.
As the back covers were finished, I then got to work on the front covers; all of which I went with presenting the spine and skipping the flat front covers.
