ok this is gonna be unrelated to anything i usually post and im tagging #gaming and #blacklight retribution and #fps even if they doesnt have an actual fanbase. anyway

blacklight retribution is the game of all time. its a blatant cod bo3 copy, alright, but it has built in wallhack (with a cooldown, obviously), the controls are retro (aka they suck) and all the players also suck. which puts me exactly on top because i know how to take advantage of all of that

the game, like original cod games, has like a "spendable credit score" system or something. you trade your score for goods and services basically. and one of those goods is the Fucking Hardsuit, costing 1300.

and holy shit it sucks.

i actually buy the hardsuit every match im in, not because i like it – no, no, i hate it, it doesnt allow you to use the built-in wallhack, it has slow movement, and he gets stuck a lot. but, without fail, i still buy it. and, also without fail, i give it to the shittiest player on my team. this hollow shell of a person that cant even play one of the most basic fps games ever.

and i always feel like a father, the father i wish i always had (i have one but i dont like him), a father giving his son a shitty toy. but this toy means so much to the child they isnt just gonna give up. no, no, theys gonna cling on to it, they will spend so much time with it. and they will like it. a lot.

so yeah the game is free on ps4 idk on steam (adding the tags #ps4 and #steam rn)

What kind of video games do you like? Do you have a favorite series? Is there any game that really had an impact on you? Do you have a nostalgia favorite? Is there a game you love that you wish was more known?

Like I said in previous ask, I like FPS games a lot, but I like other kinds of games as well, but I seem to gravitate a lot towards games that have a first person perspective!

Favourite series? Huh... Hard to say, maybe Mass Effect, even though Andromeda wasn't that great? A lot of games that I like only have 1 or 2 games in the series so I dunno if you can call them that lol

Games that had an impact on me - there's lot's! F.E.A.R. always comes to mind first, it's my all-time favourite and it sparked my interest in horror, urban exploration, darker and heavier music... I think it altered my course of life significantly in that sense! I would also say FF7, though it's harder for me to think of exactly how it impacted me, but I remember being obsessed with it for YEARS!

Nostalgic favourite, again, there's so many... I'd say Unreal Tournament 2004 and SSX3, though maybe SSX3 is more nostalgic because I haven't been able to play it since I sold my Xbox back in 2006 :( Though in general most games from the late 90's and early 2000's are very nostalgic to me!

Not sure about a game I wish was more known... Maybe I would say GW2 again, because Arenanet's marketing of it is abysmal and people don't seem to talk about it even though it's one of the bigger MMOs around! It's great! Otherwise, well, the games I wish people knew more about have already died so it's too late - like Hawken or Blacklight Retribution (though maybe they were never great and I just had low standards lmao)

I have a Morrowind character I kinda wanna play but tbh I kinda forget what's going on on that save and what she's supposed to be doing. I adore no quest markers but I will say that it makes picking up an old save kinda impossible

She's a Nord warrior who was kicked out of her clan and left for dead as a young adolescent because she tried to kill a member of the clan who was trying to rape her. She was found half dead by a group of sepratist warrior women and nursed back to health. She was brought to maturity by them, raised communaly, taught their way of life. She was happy, but wanted retribution. So she went back to her clan and finished the job, slaying the man who violated her.

But in the decade that she was gone, things had changed. The empire had come to her childhood settlement, and brought with them a Cyrodiilic attempt at justice. She was apprehended, but there was unrest as she was not sentenced to death. The local imperial governor transfered her to Imperial City in a bid to simply remove the problem and ease the tension between the Empire and her former clan.

Shortly after arriving in Imperial City Prison, she was again transferred, this time to Vvardenfell. She had seen Red Mountain from the peaks of the Velothi range but never before had she been in such an alien place. But something stranger than foreign fauna and flora greeted her upon her arrival in Seyda Neen: she and another prisoner--Dildaare Vestain, a Dunmer rapscallion from Blacklight--were set free, apparently by order of the Emperor himself

In many ways, captivity was preferable for her. She certainly didn't need to be handed three meals a day and a comfy bed to sleep in, but she knew nothing of this land. Would that plant kill her or feed her, would that beast allow her passage or trample her? She didn't know and could scarsely ask the locals, who kept hissing "outlander" at her.

She had only met a handful of Dunmer in her life, and only briefly. Her adoptive clan had occasional dealings with one who would buy any spare hides they had during the spring. She remembered watching one of her clan mothers intentionally dirtying her face and arms before meeting with the the Dunmer trader. The other clan mothers would gently tease the dirtied one for trying to impress an outsider woman, and a more civilized, non Nord at that.

One spring, she stayed a few days with the clan. She claimed her pack animal--a strange bipedal lizard with a head larger than a nords torso--needed a wound tended to. Clearly, the guar was in perfect health.

But the Dunmer women on Vvardenfell were not by and large warm like the hide merchant of her youth was. Everything here felt strange and inhospitable.

So she wandered, alone. It wasn't long though, until on one of her rare stops into the towns that she heard of a fishing village, Khuul, on the northwest coast from which she could charter a boat to Skyrim.

She longed for her home, for her clan mothers, for her people and trees and mountains not spewing fire and brimstone, but peaked with snow. So she sold whatever she could, hoping it would be enough for this boatsman to take her home.

The trip was short, shorter than it should have been to round the northern peninsula and turn back south to port. This was Skyrim, undoubtedly, but not the Skyrim where she was left for dead in the marshes, nor the Skyrim where she was taught an independent way of life by her foremothers.

This was Solstheim.

Though she did not yet know this, on this island, this land familiar yet in many ways just as foreign as Vvardenfell, was why the ruler of an Empire whose name she had already forgotten had released her from her capture. But despite the lack of chains on her legs, destiny had not yet unlocked her shackles.

This post ended up being a lot longer than I thought it was going to be initially. Games towards the top are in more recent memory while most games descending towards the bottom I haven't played in a bit, but with many exceptions that I don't care to point out.

When I was thinking of Mass Effect 3's multiplayer in-game currency, I was a little curious if games from consoles has been introduced in-game currency before live-service games has fully established. Even though, you can earn "credits" by playing the game than buying the Bioware Points by real money

I did my research and I found some examples here:

Then 2 years later, Evolve came out, the in-game currency and microtransaction were baffling and meh.

And the game didn't work with the low playerbase.

And the rest of the upcoming new popular live-service games began to release that lasted in the short-run. Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Warframe and the few ones are an exception.
