Like many, I use and love the Merlin app. Yesterday, it ID'd a Common Yellowthroat, and when I showed my husband, he was skeptical because tech can be unreliable and there are so many sounds out there. Luckily, the bird was kind enough to also visit the bird bath later 😁 Here's a little migration magic - first a White-crowned Sparrow and then a Common Yellowthroat!

the crowned eagle is a large bird of prey native to sub-saharan africa. this bird is considered, though smaller than the martial eagle, to be africa’s strongest bird of prey; they regularly bring down prey much larger and heavier, such as bushbucks and various monkey species. 90% of the diet is mammalian, but on occasion, the species also feeds on large birds and reptiles. like most african raptors, they are largely non-migratory and often stay within one range. adult crowned eagles are mainly brown and black; juveniles have starkly different plumage, with an off-white upperside. as in most raptors, females are notably larger than males.
