♫ Hard To Say I'm Sorry ♫ (Redux)
I haven’t played this one in over three years, and tonight I was digging through my archives, looking for … I didn’t really know what, just something to make me smile. And BINGO … this one made me smile, so I hope it will do the same for you!
I’m hungry … and therefore, it is inevitable that I would play something by Chicago tonight, right?
This song marked a resurgence for Chicago, who had…

These albums in the vein of Supernatural work. I mean, they get their jobs done, though the musicians who make them should be wary of them. Ask Chicago about what happens afterwards. Yes, they went through their Supernatural phase from Chicago 16 to the end of the 80's. Still, we shouldn't hold the platters from the period against them, they merely wished to be relevant again. Thus, their success with Chicago 16 caused them to rethink their sonic approach and they began to chase the success. However, I am not sure what else they could've done then, they were a group for the 60's and the 70's, the 80's had no use for them, unless they went crazily current. Of course, their peers had the same dilemmas, i.e. they gained their biggest sales with the discs few admire.

Son of Oakland - and Chicago - Bill Champlin Turns 75
A Son and a former Chicago boy, Bill Champlin turns 75 today.
Born May 21, 1947, in Oakland, Champlin launched his long, musical trip during the psychedelic movement in San Francisco, founding and fronting the Sons of Champlin, a jazz-rock hybrid similar to Chicago, a band he would later join.
“They were breathing fire,” Mickey Hart once said of the Sons. “They were the most talented of all the San Francisco bands.”
The Sons’ first run ended in 1977 and the multi-instrumentalist Champlin turned to session work, appearing on albums by Elton John, Boz Scaggs, George Benson and others.
He joined Chicago in 1982 - as that band turned away from its initial sound for an adult-contemporary format - where he remained until 2009.
During his tenure with the band, Champlin also released solo albums and reformed the Sons. He continues on both paths today and occasionally appears with former Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine’s California Transit Authority.

♫ You're The Inspiration ♫
Well, I didn’t start out yesterday with the intention of making it a “Chicago weekend”, but after I played Saturday In The Park yesterday, I found I wanted more Chicago! So … I hope you guys are up for a bit more, too!
David Foster, who became one of the biggest hitmakers of the ’80s and ’90s, wrote this song with Peter Cetera and also produced the album. In working with Foster, the band made…
