Part of the rationale offered by supporters of the name change is that Bharat is an indigenous term that goes back in history and was prominent in the anti-colonial struggles – for example, the slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jai” (Hail to mother Bharat). But there are other more important political ideological factors that must not be missed.
As the backbone of the right-wing in the country, the RSS (founded in 1925) has always carried a vision for India as a Hindu nation that extends far beyond electoral politics. In this transformation of Indian society and polity, the idea of “othering” non-Hindus has been crucial, and at various times has targeted Muslims, Christians, non-Brahmins, secularists, atheists, dissenters and so on.
So the proposed change of name from India to Bharat is not an anti-colonial move. Rather it is the creation of a binary designation whereby those who continue to espouse an “Indian” identity will, over time, become politically labelled as an “other” to the true and authentic “Bharatiya” (resident of Bharat) who is the “ideal” Hindu or Hindu-ised citizen.

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
28th September, Thursday
The crowd going wild; the massive helicopters flying past doing unbelievable turns and manuevers in the sky. The loud jets flying by before you can blink. The beautiful and mathematically precise formation of the aircrafts. The Suryakiran IAF aerobatic unit made the sky their playground and absolutely won the hearts of the crowd. The jets were loud, but enthusiasm and cheers of the crowd was louder. People randomly shouting 'bharat mata ki jai'. Everybody was in awe of the dapper uniform clad officers. Children from the age of 4 to old uncles of 40, everyone was impressed. I hope today's event inspired a few careers

When we became free
The day that changed our geography.
The day every Indian can chant Bharat Mata Ki Jay without any fear.
The day when clouds hovered stubbornly over Delhi. It seemed if they were waiting for that historic moment, they were prepare to thunder and pour down to welcome a new born.
The day first prime minister of independent India delivered the first speech "Tryst With Destiny" which will be remembered till the end of time.
Yes it was the day of our independence with midnight roars across the nation.
Preparations were completed inside the parliament and outside strangers hugged each other in jubiliation, it was raining from above and nearly every eye was wet.
