Get to know your Dark Urge!
It's time to get to know your Durge! Below are some "get to know you" questions about the current or favorite Dark Urge of anyone who would like to participate. As always, feel free to skip any questions that don’t strike your fancy or apply to your character by marking them with an “X”.
I cant wait to get to know your characters!
Tumblr media
General Questions:
What is their preferred combat style?
What is their favorite weapon?
What (or who) would they do anything to save?
What (or who) would they do anything to destroy?
What keeps them up at night?
What brings them peace?
What is their greatest asset?
What is their achilles heel?
What does their voice sound like?

What do they take pride in?
How would they spend the last night of their life?
How does someone get on their good side?
How does someone get on their bad side?
What is the best and worst memory they’ve formed since they escaped the Illithid ship?
If they could change their ancestry and choose to live another life, would they? What path would they take?
If they had the option to restore their lost memories, would they?
Which companion was the first to learn of their dark urges? How did this individual find out?
Are they secretive, or open about their dark urges? Why?
In the words of our resident bag o' bones (Withers), there are two paths the Dark Urge must choose from: "the heart of a savior," or "the mind of a murderer." Which path does your character take?
The Heart of a Savior:
What is the cost of resisting their dark urges? How does resistance impact them over time?
How do they find the strength to resist their dark urge?
What are their motivations for resistance?
To their memory, have they ever succumbed to their urges?
To their memory, have they always taken the path of resistance, or did something change their mind?
The Mind of a Murderer:
Do they succumb to the urge of free will?

Past Life Dark Urge Asks - 5th Edition:
The Gate has more than just one cult dedicated to an evil aligned Deity. What does your Durge think about the Sharran Outpost establishing itself within their turf? We're there any sort of run ins that escalated?
How did your Durge feel seeing the bodies of their brethren being oogled by the general populous in the Hall of Wonders? Disgust, pride, nothing?
Nine Fingers has dedicated herself to keeping peace between the warring underworld factions no matter the cost. What price did the Bhaalists require under Durge's leadership?
Speaking of Nine Fingers, what was your Durges relationship with her like? Was it amicable or did they regularly come for each other's throat?
The Zhent may follow Bane, but what did the Bhaalist Leader think of them and their operations?
Mercenaries are a valued resource even for death cults and almost any significant operation in Faerûn. Did Durge ever hire any, and if so, what for?
Did Durge have a last name? Why or why not and if they had any, where did they get it from? Was it self made or inherited?
Does your Durge have a symbol of their own? What is it?
Did your Durge have any familiars? Why or why not, and if yes, what were they?
Does a portrait of your Durge exist somewhere in Faerûn? How did it come to be?
Should I share some durgetash specific asks?

4. "Can I call you daddy?"
5. "You look so good on your knees."
6. "How do the ropes feel? Not too tight?"
7. "You are so pretty with my cock in your mouth."
8. "Just one look from him/her and I'm wet."
9. "Eyes on me when you come."
10. "You don't have to stay the night. Just fuck me."
11. "I touched myself last night thinking about you." "I know."
12. "Swallow."

15. "How many times did you come?"
16. "Is it okay if I masturbate?"
17. "I'm not wearing any underwear."

Ho there traveler! What news does your Tav bring? Some questions, if I may ask!
1) What's your Tav's name, race, class and background?
6) What would the player gradually learn about your Tav in that quest? Would it have relevance to a place / an event / a character / a theme in the in-game campaign?
15) What sort of general decisions would your Tav approve or disapprove of? Are there any particular driving decisions? (ex. saving or raiding the grove, how you handle other companions, dealing with a specific thing they love/hate, etc…)
Cheers~ 🧡
Hello there stranger, and thank you for your questions! Tav and Durges have all something to say~
(asks from here)
1) what's your Tav's name, race, class and background?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kylech, Asmodeus Tiefling, Illusion Wizard, Entertainer.
Hrodak, Half-Orc, Berserker Barbarian, Haunted One (alt: Outlander)
Xarann, Lolth-sworn Drow, Necromancer Wizard, Haunted One (alt: Urchin)
6) What would the player gradually learn about your Tav in that quest? Would it have relevance to a place / an event / a character / a theme in the in-game campaign?
In Kylech's personal arc, you'll learn how his being cheery and light-hearted is a facade to hide his insecurities, and how he sees himself as just a failed wizard who can use illusion magic only to conjure some trick to entertain people. There's the theme of learning to appreciate oneself and learning that one doesn't have to be powerful to be liked. As for relevant of places and such, you'd learn that he was originally from Elturel but left the city when he was an ambitious young teen who had just figured out he could use magic. And that when the Mind Flayers kidnapped people, it happened while he was travelling with a troupe of artists to Waterdeep for a spectacle (and because he wanted to know the Wizard of Waterdeep).
Xarann's personal arc is about self-discovery and becoming a better version of themselves. He doesn't remember what he was before the tadpole (like all durges), but he grasped hard at the vague memory of his drow life and worship of Lolth. He doesn’t understand the Urge that eats at him: his personal quests are tied to that. Probs would be like "what if Durge was a companion?" kinda thing. You'll later learn that he was of a lower class in Menzoberranzan and then caught and turned into a Bhaalspawn when he was very young.
Hrodak...hm. I think he'd be the one with the hardest personal quests as he mainly embraces the Urge and cares little about who he was before, but there's always the possibility to sway him away from that ofc but won't be easy. But it's possible. And what you learn about him will vary depending on which direction you choose for his personal quest. (I'm still working on his arc as companion tbh)
15) What sort of general decisions would your Tav approve or disapprove of? Are there any particular driving decisions? (ex. saving or raiding the grove, how you handle other companions, dealing with a specific thing they love/hate, etc…)
I might have a mental list of all the approval/disapproval things for all three, but let's try to make it short...kinda?
Kylech: he's chaotic more good than neutral, so there are some things in grey areas that could make you get his approval like successfully deceive/persuade an enemy to let you pass or in general lying your way in/out of situations. There's a long list of things I could list for his approvals (and disapprovals), but I'll try to write only the *main* decisions: side with the Tieflings and help them, if you decide to raid the Grove he will permanently leave after a short dialogue at Goblin Camp where he asks if you're really going to do that... Companion-wise: helping Gale is a big yes, as siding with Karlach and Wyll, if you kill Karlach (either by the river or in the confrontation with Mizora) he'll leave camp. He's okay with helping Astarion against the monster hunter, bonus approval if you pick the "I didn't know you were also racist" dialogue option.
Hrodak: You can get approval raiding the Grove, but he doesn't really care about anything other than killing, so saving the Grove is on the plate bc he can always kill the cultists. It will seem a weird thing but spare Owlbear mother (if he's already in your party) and then make the cub join camp will give you approval, same with Scratch. If you took the evil route, he'd approve of siding with the caravan and killing the Harpers but won't disapprove if you betray the cultists, and ofc letting him kill Isobel at Last Light for a big fat approval buff (and maybe something else if you tried to romance him). Oh and torture Liam and get uh- punished by Abdirak are other approvals, the latter also gives inspiration.
Xarann: he's trying to become a better person, but being a Durge makes him easy to sway. If he joined your party early (either after the crash or around the Blighted Village) he will be strongly against raiding the Grove, but if you pass some checks you could gain the possibility to make him believe it was a means to ends (but will still give you disapproval). Either help him find it or give him the Necromancy of Thay to get a big approval buff. Anything Lolth-related will give you approval (bonus inspiration when you read the Drow Matron text). Choosing the Underdark route will give you approval. Play the Spider's Lyre is another approval. Other things may depend on which direction his personal quest has taken, and for the evil route you have some checks to pass to convince him that embracing the Urge is the right thing to do. There would be a scene where he reveals the Urge in the good route, and you get a lot of disapproval if you downplay/dismiss his concerns.

Hello my friend! Don't know if it counts as an ask game but for the recent post you made, I am too curious about the answer!! For number 13, do you have a perfume/cologne for Tathlyn? I am fascinated by perfumes so I've thought about it a little bit for my girls. In the kindest way possible he gives me axe body spray vibes.
[wheezing and sputtering] axe body spray vibes.
Listen, you may be right but Astarion would never in a million years let that continue.
As far as I'm concerned, in the actual setting of the game, he most often smells like...damp stone? He spends a lot of time in the Underdark, but even during his stints on the surface I very much imagine him smelling of, like. Cave and Rain. Plus whatever weird critter goop and sweat he happens to be dealing with.
In Cults and Coffee Shops, he works at the cafe, and Jack has informed me that they think he smells like coffee and petrichor, which does actually come up in a later segment of Maxim of Loyalty that is...far from finished.

companion!tav questions
General 3, 11
Story 8, 17
Romance 7
for Diodore! (I love that name it's fun to say)
Ooh, several questions! This'll be a bit of a long one lol (and thank you!!)
General:
3. Does she have any comments or advice when you recruit other companions?
Shadowheart: "It's not...common for a cleric to obscure their deity. I suppose I can't begrudge her commitment to secrecy."
Lae'zel: "She reminds me of my aunt... I'm not sure how I feel about that."
Astarion: "Gods, rogues [eye roll]. His dagger skills had better match his audacity."
Gale: "...Is that what all wizards are like topside?"
Wyll: "I can respect an idealist. We need someone to bring up the mood around here."
Karlach: "Oh...oh my. [Clears throat] She seems nice!"
Halsin: I can't for the life of me think of a specific line but it would be something trying (and failing) to keep cool and not show how excited she is about him officially joining the team lol. She'd be asking him a lot of questions about Surface flora and fauna in the "walking around" random dialogue.
Minthara: "She may not be a thrall of the Absolute anymore, but that doesn't mean we should bare our backs to her. Tread carefully."
Jaheira: "[Whispers] Am I supposed to recognize her? Did I miss something?"
Minsc: "Some people have a devil on their shoulder, some have a rodent. I guess."
11. Are there any moments in the game that trigger unique dialogue for her?
A few things might:
She would have a couple lines wondering why a Baenre would join the Absolute after you meet Minthara.
She talks about remembering her father mention the Society of Brilliance after you meet them in the Underdark.
She reacts...a bit badly when you meet Karn'iss and explains her own fears about becoming a drider if you talk to her afterwards, as long as your approval is high enough (moderate or higher). If you didn't get certain details in Act I, you would get them at that point.
(idk if this is what the question meant? But uh hopefully I covered it.)
Story:
8. Does she have comments on who Tav chooses to spend the night with?
For sure. For low-normal approval, she'd make a snarky comment about it and move on quickly. For moderate & higher approval she'll ask about it in an attempt to be supportive ("this is what friends do, right? This is what bonding looks like?") but if you try and give her details she gets embarrassed and backs off.
17. If romanced, how does she react to the Dark Urge trying to kill her in Act 2?
Pausing for a moment to process wtf is happening and then getting very matter-of-fact. She'd talk them through it logically, trying to keep them grounded, except for the last bit before the last saving throw, where she'd accidentally show how scared and concerned she is for them. She would very purposefully place a hand on their shoulder, arm, etc. throughout to try and reach them and show that she's not scared of them (whether or not that's true). Durge would get her Aura of Protection bonuses on their saving throws. Lots of "hey, hey, look at me"-s.
Romance:
7. What questions can Zethino ask Tav about her in the Love Test?
I'm assuming this means from the pre-existing bank of questions she asks from? I got these from the love test ask game/master post(?) that veilkeeper posted.
What, if anything, do they miss most about their home?
When they die, what will be their legacy?
What is the worst thing they've ever done?
Typically, she would approve of honest, straight-forward answers and disapprove of answers that are clearly flattery or that she views as being too sugar-coated.
The questions are from this ask game!

1, 2, 3, 7, 15, 19, 26, 30 for Ripley
Ripley Savage, God-killer BARD, human... although she used to be a ranger
Well for the FULL background you can read One Sword lmao! But short version - she was essentially a lvl 20 ranger who 1v1'd a goddess and got isekai'd into faerun for her troubles, decided to multiclass into bard as a retirement gift to herself, and got schlorped up and tadpoled after six months of having overall a pretty good time in Baldur's Gate! She's still VERY much unused to being around other people or depending on others/letting them know her plans, and a big part of her story is trying to figure out how to trust the party to do what they're good at while she does what she's good at....
I know I picked Athletics and Ability Improvement... Possibly Alert to improve her initiative, I can't remember now...
7. Through Act 2 the party was usually Astarion, Karlach, and Shadowheart, but in Act 3 it was usually Astarion, a druid, and Wyll or Gale.
15. Ripley haaaates the illithid mind powers. never ate a single one, basically never used the powers after the goblin camp. partially because it reminds her too much of natashoggoth and partly because fuck anybody who tells her she needs to do something lmao.
19. Ripley "Desperately Needs To Be Needed" Savage almost always goes for trying to be helpful. She got a lot of fun options as a bard though, so if that was available she did fun bard choices.
26. Well.... so Ripley wanting to be needed by her friends meant she basically did everyone's questline as early as possible if it was for companions and mostly didn't feel like doing half the shit you can do if it's not for that. she was maxed out with everyone's approval BUT astarion's before they got to moonrise (and never actually! got above 75 with him! even though they're besties your honor trust me) lmao
30. it's cruel to make Ripley, one of nature's dog persons, admit it, but probably Sweet Baby Owlberto is her FAVE fave. she loves them both equally though. Special shoutout to the cats who she SHOULD be allowed to adopt, His Majesty and Myshka.

Past Life Dark Urge Asks - 7th Edition:
What is the worth of a single mortal life from the perspective of their former self?
How does Durge actually view death? Is it a mercy, a gift, or perhaps just nature's course?
What languages does Durge speak?
How old are they when the game begins? Did their age affect them or how they view the other Chosen in any way?
What was their greatest display of self-control?
Did they ever loose control and what happened when they did?
Being divine and all that might have it side effects. Which one did your Durge have to endure? Did their immunity to poisons perhaps also meant they couldn't use potions or did they have a certain effect on people?
If they could critique one thing about their father and get away scot-free, what would it be?
Did Durge use utensils to eat or did they decide to embrace the old fashioned way bhaal intended?
Speaking off, what's their diet like? Do they actually exclusively do the cannibalism bit or can they be convinced to eat normal food?

oo i got some for you. tell me more about tav :D
5, 17, 31 & 42
Do you remember the first humanoid enemy your Character killed? Was it the first person they've ever killed, in your opinion? Would they have been bothered by it? (5)
I mean, in-game it was General Zhalk. Honor would have felt no issues whatsoever killing a Devil/Fiend (idr which he is), I wouldn't say she enjoyed it, but there would have definitely been a sense of like. Paladin justice lmao. Far from the first time Honor has killed, but she absolutely WOULD have been bothered by the first time she killed someone especially since it would have been in service as a soldier and completely anonymous which would have fucked her up more. You know that whole scene where the protag agonizes over killing for the first time and imagines the rich life and loves of the person they've killed? 100% Honor. Oops! Enlisting was a mistake :)
(17) & (31) are here !
Has your Character been to the Underdark from before the events of the adventure? (42)
Hells no! In fact, Honor was probably like, 'wait it's like, a Real REAL place?' Yeah. I can imagine the Underdark was used as a bit of a boogeyman story for her growing up, because nobody from her family would have ever had been adventuring before haha.

Well hello there! Got some Tav asks for your crew~
6) Best Kept Secret?
11) Pet Peeve(s)?
19) Fondest Memory?
Cheers! :)
Hello again!! And asdsdfdf thank you for the asks!!! :D
(ask game here)
6) Best Kept Secret?
Xarann: that he killed Alfira. He'll take that to the grave even if sometimes he still tries to wash off the blood from his hands à la Lady Machbeth. He couldn't keep his Urge secret anymore, but will never say anything about that first and only kill. He regrets it so much he asked Withers to get her back.
Hrodak: I feel like he's not really type for secrets, unless keeping things from others might be useful to keep their trust. The whole Bhaalspawn thing is a big secret, but currently he doesn't even know it and it's not like he'd tell about that creepy butler he'd kick like a gith egg football to see how high it soars. OH! Oh, there's a well kept secret: he can't stop fantasizing how he'd kill each one of his companions. (<- since the first thing he thought seeing astarion was how he'd be a beautiful corpse, I imagine that at a certain point he pictured all the others in a similar way)
Kylech: other than he's an insecure guy that keeps an optimistic and cheery facade? Hm. That for a good moment he was seriously thinking to strike a deal with Raphael, how worse it could go since he's in the middle of nowhere with a mindflayer worm in his head and cultists hunting them down? Also, he's still holding onto the Necromancy of Thay but lacks the courage to actually read it.
11) Pet Peeve(s)?
Kylech: basic stuff I think? Don't call him "naive" only because he's nice, anything racist against Tieflings (but also racist towards others), being treated like an idiot... and blatantly out of tune musical instruments (or people who do not even bother to get a note right).
Hrodak: being bothered while he's eating/drinking, being considered all brawn and no brains (sorry bud but you have -1 int you *are* all brawn), being provoked but he's quite...snappy and it's difficult to narrow that down. Don't touch his things or you'll lose an arm. People too nice/good annoy him a lot but he doesn't know if he hates them because they are benevolent or because he has no clue on how he should react to them.
Xarann: call him "under elf" and in all his mighty -1 strength will sock you one in the face like he did with Aradin. Do not comment (negatively ofc) his decision to follow Lolth even if he's trying to be a good person. Doesn't like being considered the stereotypical evil Drow, but he can be a bit of an asshole and that doesn't help.
19) Fondest Memory?
Kylech: it's difficult to pick a fondest memory for him. Probably when he first received compliments for his magic skills and when people applauded him during his first spectacle. More recently, there's the memory of dancing with Wyll at the camp: a light in that endless night of the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
Hrodak: memories are all messed up and he's not sure of what he remembers. Has a very vague memory of him playing in a field with someone or something but nothing much. Otherwise, most of his kills are fond memories, at least for his Urge.
Xarann: Gale reassuring him and calming him down that night the Urge wanted to kill him, and that other night spent with Gale. Those make him feel that there's hope for him and that someone cares about him. There's also a vague memory of himself as a kid reading a book, he doesn't remember the content but remember an illustration depicting Lolth.

1, 2, and 3 for shrike! tell me about their old family >:3c
Thank you for the ask!
CW: Durge violence
1. Do they miss their adoptive family? Why or why not?
Shrike was raised by their 'mother' and would miss her immensely once they left home for good. They swore their original paladin oath to protect her; their love of her literally empowered them for years. Even after they successfully fulfilled their oath of vengeance against their criminal 'father' and his associates and broke their oath for their true father Bhaal, they still felt indebted to her for their happy upbringing. Post-tadpole they'd hardly remember her, but once they do then they'd feel the pain of leaving her behind all over again.
2. Did they keep anything from their old family and home? A momento or skill perhaps?
Shrike's mother worked as a saddler and gifted them with a small leather bag on the day they left. She had taught them how to work with leather, although they never had the patience or artistic flair to craft anything intricate. Instead, they use this skill to repair their precious bag and battered leather armour.
They had also joined the local militia in their hometown, so are trained in combat and basic military strategy. It was this training and self-discipline that made them a formidable leader and valuable ally to both Gortash and Ketheric.
3. When Sceleritas fetched them from their comfortable home, what did they do on their journeys? Did they take on any jobs?
Shrike would have been too focussed on their mission to destroy their adoptive father to pay much heed to the will of their celestial father. Any attempt by Sceleritas to divert them from their oath would have drawn their ire and their blade, and would have started the less than favourable treatment they would bestow upon their ever-faithful butler. It would have served a purpose, however, by allowing them to indulge their violent urges and honing their craft in the art of murder and torture. Bhaal didn't really care who they hunted after all, what mattered most was the act of killing itself.
They were often recognised as a paladin on their travels and tried to act the part where they could whilst they still followed the tenets of their oath. If people needed blood to be spilled to prevent a greater evil, then Shrike was happy to oblige. Once they broke their oath, they no longer limited themselves to killing for a greater purpose.
Also, bonus fun fact: Shrike was taught that eye contact was polite, but never really learnt what that meant. They're also not very talkative, meaning most of their interactions end up with them staring at people like this:
