🎭 No one had ever cheered him on before you, not even the friends he had back at the orphanage

🎭 You're SUPPOSED to be his rival, it honestly leaves him extremely flustered

🎭 Not saying he isn't happy about it, he finds it to be quite motivating, especially when he wins against other people

🎭 Mostly just unintentionally reinforces that "I am the best" mentality up until he was taken in and trained by Opal

🎭 Though even after he'd still get a little flustered, but he'd consider it part of you just wanting to be supportive of a friend

🎭 Unless you specifically say otherwise he would continue to believe that

🎭 He honestly appreciates the encouragement you give him, even if he doesn't tell you that often

Ok, so I have this stupid cheeryfairy idea, where they are still in their challenger times.

They aren't friends and Bede is still his condescending self.

The Thing with Bede being an ass to people is that he only does it when he feels that "he has the right".

He has defeated Hop and as such can call him a weakling.

This is just how he thinks that it works.

So he was of course pretty pissed off when he heard other really weak trainers talk shit about Hop.

Cause they didn't have the right to do it.

He couldn't have known that said rival was in earshot of his tongue lashing.
