Have You Noticed Some Changes?

Here in the 100-Acre Wood, a number of our returning guests may have noticed a few changes in the recent weeks!  We are continuously encouraging everyone to get outside and enjoy what Mother Nature has so graciously provided us with and we absolutely love seeing how busy the trails throughout the 100-Acre Wood have been so far this new year! We have enjoyed meeting our members as they continue to renew or purchase their annual trail passes.  We have just a few reminders to all who visit and enjoy the 100-Acre Wood as much as we do! First (because we’ve been asked this question a lot recently), we have always had fees for use of our property.  Just as the National and State forests have fees to maintain the upkeep of a number of their trails, we also have fees: $5 a day to walk into the property for one person, $10 a day for a vehicle to drive onto the property for one day, and $25 for a vehicle for a week.  Believe in Books Literacy Foundation Memberships support our literacy programs and include annual trail passes.  Memberships start at $50 and are available for purchase at any time on our website. You can also purchase memberships in person, Monday through Thursday at the BIBLF office, and even over the weekends at the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack.  Memberships are offered for either an individual which includes one vehicle’s trail pass or for a family which includes two vehicle trail passes. Another reminder for all visitors is to please keep your dogs on leashes at all times.  We understand that a lot of your furry friends enjoy being off leash and are usual behaved when roaming throughout the woods.  My dogs love it just like yours do I’m sure! However, we need to be respectful of all who use the property including those who may not enjoy dogs, or may be fearful.  Also, we know a number of dogs may not be friendly with other dogs so for everyone’s safety, please be considerate and keep your buddy on his or her leash.  Please also clean up after your dog as no one enjoys cleaning up after other dogs. Last and definitely not least, please leave no trace.  Our maintenance crews work year-round to maintain the property especially when Mother Nature throws us some curve balls.  The last thing they need be working on is picking up trash left behind by visitors (this includes doggy poop bags please). We hope you continue to enjoy the 100-Acre Wood Trail System and bring friends and family to check it out!  Our trails are designed for hiking, walking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing! Please remember no bikes are allowed in the winter!  Thank you for visiting!
