I will say it's laughable to claim that it's 'not a coincidence that Israel's attacks coincide with high profile events' (i.e. the met gala). That's the most US centric thing I've ever heard. Do you really think war officials are designing their onslaught based around a fashion party in the US? Like they're criminal masterminds using the influence of the global cultural powerhouse that is the US to distract the people of... Checks notes... The entire world so that they can bomb Palestine unsuspectingly?

Youse sound like conspiracy theorists.

No one actually gives a fuck about the Met Gala. For those who like it, it's just about the fashion photography that comes out a day later. For most it's an event detached from place and from time and it's occurrence actually has nothing to do with the recent attack. But it's the idea that 'high profile events' like the Met Gala are deliberately being used to distract people from ongoing genocide that assumes that the event itself is iconic enough to be distracting, and that the distractable people are only North Americans thereby omitting the nuance of the rest of the world's populace in life extracted from the US hegemony.

#A better critique might be that the met gala continues to proceed despite protests nearby #But the problem with that statement is that protests near the met gala have happened for years for numerous other causes #so for whatever reason people are claiming the bombs happened the time they did BECAUSE of the met gala #like no #the world does not revolve around the US #there are legitimate critiques in all of this but claiming the met gala's timing was not a coincidence is sending me #like if it's not israeli war officials it's biden or the governor being like ok what circus can we put on for the people #we must distract them from our political errors #ah yes the met gala the perfect world enrapturing event #this will distract them #just no...#the met gala was gonna happen regardless of political strategising #do not reblog this I'm just blogging

every other video on my for you page is a creator begging people to donate to palestinian families. creators from all sorts of communities are volunteering to sponsor families, using their platforms to spread the word and focus attention. tiktok has problems but it has BY FAR been the loudest about palestine, despite the algorithms best efforts. THIS IS WHY THEY WANT TO BAN IT. because like it or not, tiktok gets information out quickly.

i know i used to talk a lot about the Met Gala in the previous years. as a fashion fan and person interested in fashion history, that event was always important to me, as to many others. but i can’t in good faith dedicate my (and yours, effectively) time to seek out content, form opinions, and share all of it in these times. i don’t want to be the person who’s selling you circuses that are a distraction from the ongoing genocide in Palestine. and i find it very hard to care about these grand displays of wealth from people with huge material and social capital, people who have not used any of their power to help.

I’ve hated the met gala for a while now but the fact that anyone would give a shit about what 100k dress insanely rich people are wearing while an entire genocide happens is the fucking limit. It’s always “eat the rich” until it actually matters.

All these actors wanted us to stand with them during their strike, now they can’t even stand with us for millions of murdered children and everyone around me is just cool with that. I’m sick to my stomach every god damn day.

……❪ this would the inspired dress. she loves this look and is absolutely obsessed. however she would make some changes. to pay homage to miss coco chanel, she would probably replace the sleeve and the extravagant stitching with either pearls - because coco chanel was huge on pearls and were them a lot in the very early days of chanel - or she would do a gold-diamond-chained look shown below. ❫

I know I'm a little late to the party but I kinda hate that celebrities were on point with the theme this year at the Met Gala considering they were paying homage to a person that was extremely homophobic, fatphobic, racist and xenophobic. He was a genious, yes, but a horrible human being.

Also, it says a lot about those who choose to go (invited or not) and even worse, those who PAID to go.

i was watching heartbreak high the other day (i'm actually 12) and i was looking at a certain actor thinking like i wish women were allowed to be ugly
