Part 2: A Dream of an Autumn Garden
A few more photos of Mr. Morpheus, continuing from my post here!
As I said on the other photoset, I'm very happy & proud of him! I'm happy I decided to take my time to get him just how I wanted & edit the photos I took nicely. I hope you all love him too. Sweet dreams~
I have included a bunch of Cool Facts about how I made him under the cut if you are so inclined!
Started: Late Jan 2022 / Finished: Dec 30 2022
Approx work hours- 273 hours (worked on average every 3rd day out of 274 days; averaged 3h/session)
Times I remade something because I messed it up/wasn't happy with it: Hands- 2; Feet- 2; Head- 2.5; Body- 1; Clothes: 3
Pattern: trial, error & determination
Height: 3ft tall
Materials:
stretch jersey knit (body)
polyfill (stuffing)
brushed out acrylic yarn (hair)
star sapphire x2 (eyes)
pipe cleaner (hand armature)
wooden dowels/18 gauge wire (elbow/arm skeleton that keeps snapping I may add)
acrylic paint/pastels (shading & details)
acrylic thread (body sculpting & upper eyelashes)
stretch velvet/velvet burnout, cotton (clothes)
Fun facts:
his look was inspired by his overall appearance in the comics; I particularily like the depictions done by Jill Thompson, Mike Dringenberg & Marc Hempel!
his arms and legs are jointed in the same way as many teddy bears are: you use a washer, nut & bolt to butt-up the limb against the body internally and it gives the limbs full rotation. First time I have tried the method and it's definitely something I'll try again!
I had no idea how I was going to do the inset eyes, but I was determined to have them as some sort of stone. I had to redo his first head completely because I cut too far in! Eventually I got it to work by creating a "backcushion" with clay for the stones, and then closed and sculpted the eyelids overtop to secure them in.
You can't see in most of my photos but his eyes are star sapphire: when light hits them correctly, it causes a ✨to appear just like his eyes in the comics~!
making his hand & feet were a challenge, especially thinking about where to put the needle through to sculpt tendons, nails, etc (and also deciding how detailed to get without looking strange). I think I learned a lot tho and I'm very proud of the hands
my favorite sculpted parts are the collar bone/chest, the right hand & the nose~
because the skin is white, he gets very dirty with his black clothes, so I had to line all of them in white. He also has to soak in bleach once in a while to maintain his complexion (LOL)

Did this take me a million years to get it just right? Yes… but it needed to be perfect lol.
Also because I cannot decide on a name to call Phantom and Aeon, YOU GET A MASHED UP NAME THAT SOUNDS DOPE AF. (Fay-on)
Mountain found it adorable when Swiss was being slightly over protective of him. Especially lately with the two new summons Phaeon and Aurora. Swiss didn’t mind the new ghoulette, she was short and sweet and reminded Swiss of his best friend Amara, just a tad bit shy-er. Phaeon was a different story.
The lithe quint ghoul had a little bit of an attitude problem when it came to listening to Mountain who was the respective pack leader. Mountain knew it was because he was new and hasn’t found quite what his place is in the pack. He didn’t mind the attitude Phaeon gave him. Mountain found it amusing. Swiss however did not.
After practice, Swiss was waiting for Mountain to walk out of the room when he heard Phaeon pipe up and speak.
“Man, what do I gotta do to gain the type of attention you give dirt boy? How good is his dick? I bet it’s small, I could be a good boy for you Swiss. You could either fuck me or I could fuck you.” Phaeon stated, sliding up to press himself against Swiss. Mountain was leaning against the door frame, waiting to see what his partner would do. The multi ghoul lightly chuffed and pushed Phaeon away.
“Mountain’s dick is probably larger than yours Phae. But that’s not why I'm with him. I'm with him since I love how he’s always taking care of everyone. He makes sure everyone’s needs are met, and I like when I can dote on him. I like his stupid crooked smile, and I like how his hair gets golden streaks in it when he’s been outside for too long. And most of all? Most of all he gives good hugs.” Swiss ranted. Phaeon grinned, looking over Swiss’ shoulders to see Mountain who had a dark green blush dusted around his tanned skin.
“Alright Cheese Man. I hear ya loud and clear. Do you think at least one day I could do a scene with you two?” Phaeon giggled, fixing his hoodie, and fitted his hands in the pockets.
Swiss blinked with a slight confused look on his face.
“Uhh. We’ll talk about that later Bug, go bother Dewy if you want your dick wet.” Swiss replied. Phaeon let out a happy chirp and made his way back to the den. Swiss just shook his head and went to walk that way when he was pulled back into someone’s arm. Swiss let out a surprise trill as Mountain nosed at his neck, nibbling a bit at an old mark he had left.
“You think I give good hugs hm?” The giant rumbled, head resting on Swiss’ shoulder. The multi ghoul laughed, leaning against his love.
“Yeah. You do. You’re a good pack leader and lover. Now let’s go snuggle in bed before the brat comes looking for us again.” Swiss purred out. Mountain detached himself from his partner, dragging him to their room.
“Hey, I think Phaeon is a cutie. Thank you for what you said back there by the way. It was something I definitely needed to hear today. Even if the little buggy wasn’t being too bad today. Thank you still lovebug. I love you.” Mountain cooed out as they settled in bed, Swiss being the bigger spoon this time. Swiss chuckled, pressing a kiss to Mountain’s neck.
“Next time he mouths off though I'm telling him he’ll be ours for the night and we won’t be nice.” Swiss mumbled, his tail intertwining with Mountain’s.

please tell more about fig idk what I'm in love with this design. Will you ever draw anything else with fig?
Aw!! I’m quite surprised by everyone’s interest in him (＾ｰ^)♥︎ I was just saying last night how I only ever drew his ref and nothing else and what a crime that is. I’ll definitely try and draw him more though I just get very hyper fixated on one oc at times—which in this case is Grendel.
I don’t have everything thought up for fig but I can tell y’all what I have.
He’s a goetia x imp hybrid. His mother is a long-tailed sylph type goetia while his father was an imp (possible hybrid?). When the goetia found out his mother had an egg with an imp they stole it to have it quickly destroyed “discreetly” by paying wrath imps to do so but he hatched before they were able to crack it and they didn’t have the heart to kill the lil baby. Instead he ends up at the door of a foster home crying in a basket.
Sadly his life as a hybrid in wrath is far from happy. He’s heavily neglected in the foster home, full of other kids who do not like him. Always bringing up how weird he is and if he was even an imp, that clearly something was wrong with him or he had a contagious sickness. He’s constantly told how “grateful” he should be for not being cracked as an egg and how they “saved” him from parents that would have rather him be dead. Which sadly has him blaming himself for any abuse physical/verbal inflicted on him. It’s a whole lotta fucked up.
Since he is a hybrid his strength & height are taken advantage of and tends to be worked like horse at times. He’s always in hand me downs that don’t fit and never treated like the other kids. He’s forced to wear an aylmeri anklet with a bell so he doesn’t “scare” anyone since of course he’s going to grow much taller than any of them and quickly and his differences are frowned upon. He HATES that he’s different and tries everything he can to fit in but it doesn’t work. He’s super quiet, has some serious anxiety, and doesn’t have any friends but himself. He is goetia so he does have powers and when he’s a teen he accidentally finds that out in a very uh… not good way. Ends up being kicked out to the streets in fear of him.
But ya that’s all I have rn besides little scenes that I do plan on drawing heh I definitely need to hop back into his story and grow it more.

Part 1: A Dream of the Trees
He is known by many names- Prince of Stories, Shaper, Lord Morpheus, Dream of the Endless - but many a child 'round the world hearing stories at bedtime know him simply as The Sandman.
It's my pleasure to share this project with you after sitting on it for so long! The Sandman (Neil Gaiman) is a profoundly important & personal piece of literature to me, & Mr. Dream such an important figure, I absolutely needed to bring him into the waking world. I worked, reworked & re-reworked on my interpretation of him until finally saying "done!" in December of 2022.
I learned so much about what I could accomplish sculpting with fabric, I'm very proud of him & love him terribly. I really hope you will enjoy him too!

Out of all the HxH characters, why did u pick Meruem?
Meruem is my most beloved HxH character; indeed, one of my most beloved characters from any piece of media. As such, I find it very delightful and very easy to completely deconstruct and disgrace him lovingly and (dis)respectfully thru the medium of art and text. Coincidentally, many others seem to feel the same way about him. His character is an endless supply of theory and discussion, strangeness and humanity; deeply serious and yet completely goofy. He is also a green ant man in a lil vest and that is funny. Thus, this blog exists, is sustained, and persists thru his perpetual magnetism.
Also, when this blog went up at the height of the 2016 Dailyblog Phenomenon, Meruem wasn't taken yet and I took my chance because hes definitely the easiest HxH character to draw and I definitely didn't cause myself years of undue suffering trying to render his big helmet head (said affectionately).
