A gentleman with a storied arrival! This is Rieve, a D&D character commission that was meant as a winter gift. However, he decided to take his own path and get tangled up in the postal system- going there, back, and there again! (with a twin even!)
Now that he has arrived in time to hail Spring, I can share him with you all! I loved his jewelry and little tattoos, which he will proudly share with you below:

Raggedy Andy
As some of you who've been reading for some time know, in addition to stuffed animals, I also repair (and actually make) cloth dolls. This part of the hospital is rather specialized, mostly all cloth dolls, not ones with plastic parts or mobile eyes or hand knitted ones. My specialty is fabric (including faux fur, obviously), and that's the equipment I have. But that does mean I get a lot of Raggedies. Raggedy Anns, Raggedy Annes (the name spelling really matters!) and Raggedy Andys. Today, I thought I'd share a story of a small handmade Raggedy Andy.
Andy had been loved for over twenty years when his person asked her mom to please get him fixed up. He had had a lot of adventures, and clearly some serious accidents! Here are his diagnosis photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is what he looked like as a young doll:
Tumblr media
You can see that he's lost his face, and his clothes. Even his sewn on shoes were wearing off. And he had more injuries to his limbs and torso. You can also see that Andy was custom made... his face and clothing were both different from commercial raggedies, as was his foot shape.
I couldn't match his original jacket fabric, so I recommended his family choose a fabric they'd like and send that to the hospital with him. In addition to new clothes, and a new face, and other wound repair, he was going to get his shoes recovered and supplemental stuffing. Once he was in the hospital, we also agreed to recover the blue part of his hat (as it was quite worn, which is hard to see in the photos.
It took a bit of time, but soon, Andy was feeling more like himself. Here he is with his wounds repaired, new face, new pants, and new shoes:
Tumblr media
You can see the torso and arm wounds were repaired, but the face is new. His pants button on, but his shoes (now velour) are sewn in place.
And here's Andy all spiffy in his full new outfit, ready to fly home:

His family wrote when they saw the photos:
Oh my goodness this is fantastic!! He looks amazing. I cannot thank you enough!! I love his new face and his heart is still there. Thank you for salvaging all you could. His outfit is wonderful. Thank you Thank you!!
And when Andy made it home they said:
Andy arrived!!  He looks amazing and just so incredible how he came back to life.  I am so happy and cannot wait to surprise my daughter.
Amazing and just could cry.  This is her most valued memory from childhood.  Her Andy.
Thank you, thank you.

Vintage Handmade Muñecas Limé  Dolls
Female 13" Tall
3.75" Across shoulders
2.50" @hips
Tag on the apron belt in back of her clothing reads Santo Domingo.R.D.
These are so called Muñecas Limé dolls. {name origin unknown to seller}
Wearing bloomers of blue with white to form an interlace design. A complete modern cultural dress ensemble. Composition: one piece makes up the dress, another piece of red fabric completes the hem, the dress is securely slayed by a third piece of rust colored fabric wrapping her waist. The fabric is made of heavier and more durable cotton, weight between that of burlap and linen; rust coloring of the waist belt matches part of the scarf that wraps her hair whereas the other part of the scarf bears the same interlace design of the bloomers but in black with white interlace design. Her neck is strong without movement.
measurements are approximate
Male 13" Tall
4" Across shoulders
3" @hips
Tightly woven costume and body are without any visual flaws, well crafted. Cuffed cotton linen trousers, mock button down shirt kerchief tie adds just the right accent providing functionality to wipe his brown, held together with an orange flame bustierre, a straw hat and leather soles.
Dedicated detailing to accentuate the look of fingers  Beautiful artistry captures depth in both characters faces. His mouth is open no doubt in conversation, the artist patiently chiseled 7 clean white teeth {material unknow to seller}. The lips are painted a rich red hue but the eyes have it. The eyes they are etched in a 3 dimensional trompe l'oeil artistry that gives an illusion of movement, there are some strands of yarn hair peeking through his straw hat, eyelashes and brows are delicately applied 1 by 1 as is the mustache and nostrils.

This year for Christmas for the girls I decided to make a mermaid tail and tank top for each of the dolls. These two are the two that I'm mailing out. I didn't take a picture of the one that I'm keeping for myself and for my collection.
Yes there is one that I have that has all the same outfits and accessories as these two girls for two reasons. One I need something to size things on when I make clothes and accessories for these girls. So my doll is the model. Two when I first made it I was hoping to have a little girl. I had a boy. And unfortunately said boy was never interested in playing with it. Finally my copy is so that I know what I have made for these girls. Sort of an inventory without a piece of paper this way. Also I have a nice hand me down and something that anybody that visits is more than welcome to play with.
Also, yes I do change my doll's clothes about quarterly just to keep it up and prevent sun bleaching.

Fabric Dolls and Mini Dolls: Etchings from the Wonder Years
Tumblr media
We all played with fabric dolls sometimes or the other when we were kids. Some of us have made one of our own, and some still have kept the fabric doll as if it were an umbilical cord to the happiest days of our lives. Fabric dolls live in our present, reminding us of the bygone wonder years. Fabric dolls do not get old, nor do they ever go out of fashion.

Fairy Godmother
One of you kind people asked to see the Fairy Godmother dolls I make.... they vary quite a bit, but here are a few of the original ones. The first photo is a bit blurry, but she has wire glasses and earrings, and bells on her skirt with a velvet overdress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one doesn't have glasses, but has a velvet dress with lace, and has wire hoop earrings.
They all tend to have wings, and multicolored hair. These two are based on the original design where they all had pouches hidden under their skirts, so they could hide secrets (or secret stashes).
This one had the pouch hidden in her legs:

The fairy godmother is also the logo for the dolls I create. Here's that:
Tumblr media
Then as an added bonus, here's my steampunk Cinderella I made. She's a reversible doll... rags on one side, gown on the other. I loved her ball gown, and it feels almost fairy godmother with her removable wings.
Tumblr media
I hope you enjoy this side forray into some of the dolls I make.... more stories from the hospital in coming weeks, including some Christmas tales.
