pls tell me your thoughts on kylo's comfort items. what does he keep in quarters to calm himself down, does he have rituals for it?
Oooh this is a good question. I do like to headcanon him as loving stuffed animals, but I think that's mostly more of a modern au thing
In canon, I think he has a few things, though you wouldn't know what they are at first. His quarters don't have much in them in the way of comforts, he's not supposed to, but they're there among the rest
The first is a particularly smooth stone he found once. He wasn't sure what brought his attention to it, one stone among millions on a rocky beach by an angry ocean, but something about it... he likes to rub it with his thumb sometimes, to ground himself. The texture is unusually satisfying
The second is a particularly soft blanket he bartered for on some backwater planet. He doesn't know what kind of wool it's made of, but it's something that he's never felt before. It's warm and it's soft, and he likes to wrap himself in it when the world feels like too much. It feels safe there
The last is more complicated for him: a calligraphy set. Calligraphy was one of his comfort activities when he was younger, living under another name. It helped his mind settle, the methodical, smooth strokes helping to release his thoughts. He likes the beauty of it, too. But he was supposed to leave that behind with the rest, so he feels conflicted whenever he does it, like he's failing. But it still comforts him, so he still turns to it when all else fails. He wonders sometimes if, in another life, he could've been an artist or something like that. But that's not who he is, so it will have to do only as a temporary escape

Prompt: Davey and Jack take a vacation to Florida
Ugh, I don't have my computer right now, can you guess why? (Hint: this ask) but I'm going to try and write something....
So Florida is Florida, the Mordor of the USA, a political nightmare, Davey thought. Backwater alligator fuckers, was Jack's opinion, but they had had been gifted a vacation package to some tourist spot in Florida from Race who had won it in a bet, on account of him being slightly banned from the state. So, yay, here they go, two best friends, embarking on their first trip together.
Making it to the airport is a hassle and a half, Davey's pretty sure he'd be in the midst of a mental breakdown if he had time for it, but as it currently stands, they're running behind the little itinerary he's made. Beside him, Jack's trying to be a bit more level headed but even he's looking stressed, hands fidgeting with the strap of his backpack unconsciously.
"So whaddya we do after checkin' our bags?" He asks, glancing towards the counter that no one's tending.
"Well, I think we need to go through security next but since we don't have tsa pre-check, it's going to take a while and then ......
They make it to Florida through sheer willpower and determination (they both think about calling it quits multiple times but neither one wants to pass on the opportunity of seeing the other in a swimsuit) The seats were cramped and uncomfortable and Davey's especially glad to be out of them, even if it's at an ungodly hour such as five am. They get lost getting the luggage, taking the shuttle twice as Jack leans tiredly against Davey's side, eyes blearily looking for the baggage claim. Davey tries and fails not to blush and when prodded about his red cheeks from Jack, he blames it on the already muggy air. Their hotel turns into a motel which somehow turns into a king bedroom suite at a luxury resort, don't ask them how, by the time it hits eight am and they've wasted $80 on ubers, neither of them can remember all the confusing conversations they had with management. But somehow they end up in a "richy rich" hotel that's directly on the beach.
"You'd think they'd figure all this out before we got here.." Jack says yawning, as he waits for their key cards.
"At least they didn't have to deal with a tired Race" Davey says.
Jack smiles "Race is definitely the worst when he's tired"
They get their cards and are directed to their room, neither one fully acknowledging that they're going to have to share a bed. It's a beautiful suite they are given, a fully stocked kitchen and separate living room with a gorgeous view of the white sand and clear sky blue horizon, and Jack feels slightly bad that Race didn't come instead, but he knows he's probably grinning right now at their situation, the little bastard.
"It's fine if we share, right?" Davey asks while turning away from Jack and walking towards the bedroom.
------
Ok so that's all I have rn but maybe I'll continue it later. Also, on a sidenote, I think it should be illegal for stores to be able to sell 1 scoop of ice cream for $8

Skip to Loafer, a look at my favorite character: Nao
~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~
Referring to Mika Egashira: “That’s this year’s blouse, and she coordinated her outfit with the latest fashion. She got in Tsubamenishi High so she’s obviously a smart girl. But she lacks confidence so she’s easily hurt. Kind of reminds me of someone…”
Nao-chan to Mika Egashira: “If you even think for a bit that you’d rather have stayed, call Mitsumi right now and say you were mistaken about the dining out…” “…I’m not really sure what got you down like this, but you don’t get a chance to make true friends like this very often.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vol. 3, chapter 15
One of the things I find that’s sweet is Nao not only being a good aunt towards Mitsumi, but also perceptive and empathetic towards her friend’s insecurities and uncertainties. Even if Mika honestly wants to stay, she says she wants to leave — something Nao questions as not entirely being genuine. Seeing her own struggles and loneliness back then in Mika, she urges Mika to let go of her excuse to leave but rather to go back towards her friends. Her camaraderie with Mika continues later on, and she’s often a positive influence in both Mika and Mitsumi’s life.
~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~
Mitsumi to herself: “Truth to be told, I’ve never thought too deeply about physical appearances. Be it mine or others’. But when I look around, I can’t help but think everyone is putting a lot of thought into this.”
Mitsumi to Nao-chan: “Until recently, I would play with other kids regardless of gender. Western clothes and cosmetics were exciting, of course. But it was more an admiration of the unknown. When did others start feeling like this was something important to them? When did they realize that they were at an age when they want to be stylish and fall in love? It makes me feel left behind…”
Tumblr media
Nao-chan to Mitsumi: “There’s no such thing as a normal time to learn. I didn’t get into fashion, romance, and face my own ambitions until I became an office worker. It’s okay to do things at your own pace. Fumi-chan doesn’t wear any make-up either, but are the stylish Tokyo girls cuter than her? These nails cost me 10,000 yen a month. But aren’t grandma’s worn-out hands more beautiful?”
Tumblr media
Vol. 5, chapter 25
And in this scene (which IMO is one of the most beautifully-portrayed & my favorite of the manga), Mitsumi has questions about adjusting to her new city life in the fast-paced, fashionable city of Tokyo. Mitsumi starts to feel out of place and overwhelmed. But while Nao-chan doesn’t discourage her from pursuing new things like fashion, love, or make up, she manages to ground Mitsumi’s worries for a moment — reminding her niece of the things that are truly important in life. It’s honestly a great way to go about it, without discouraging Mitsumi from her new curiosities, but also understand what truly matters past the exterior.
~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~
Mitsumi’s dad/Nao’s brother: “Naoki, everyone at home is thankful to you about Mitsumi. Also, mom has always been really lonely. Come home without reserve more often.”
Nao-chan’s response: “I have a lot of bad memories on our hometown. Tokyo suits me a lot more. And I have a job I love here. That much probably won’t change. But there are things that I remembered. Like that beach covered with weeds in our neighborhood. I liked it quite a lot. So I’ll be coming home once for the summer. I’ll get a rental car, and I’ll bring Mitsumi’s friends with me.”
Tumblr media
Vol. 5, chapter 29
Here, we get an insight into Nao’s childhood problems in her family’s small, rural hometown in the backwater areas of the Ishikawa prefecture. Small villages tend to be a warm place for some, the feeling of home — such as for Mitsumi. While others remember struggling with more bad memories, like the lonely feeling in a more secluded/sometimes insular place. For Nao, that was implied a few times, but she had also mentioned her problems with work. Then there is that one panel of Nao in the Japanese middle school uniform, seemingly unable to talk to her peers or have friends. And she enjoys the more lively, open-minded Tokyo where she gets to pursue her dreams.
~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~ ~;~;~;~
She’s such a wholesome character with a positive influence on those around her, despite struggling to belong where she was from initially. Some of the manga’s sweetest scenes are those above, which shows us Nao as a person.
So this is just a spotlight on Mitsumi’s aunt, as I continue to pick apart this manga.

The Bahamas gained full independence within the Commonwealth of Nations on July 10, 1973.
Bahamas Independence Day
We are celebrating Bahamas Independence Day on July 10. The Bahamas is a small island nation south of Florida and north of Cuba. The island nation of the Bahamas is the ‘Commonwealth of The Bahamas.’ It is a sovereign country in the Lucayan Archipelago in the Atlantic. The country gained its independence on July 10, 1973. Prince Charles himself handed over the documentation to Prime Minister Lynden Pindling, officially making the Bahamas a fully independent nation. We celebrate the nation’s culture, traditions, and natural beauty on this day. Join us and be a part of the Bahamas Independence Day celebrations.
History of Bahamas Independence Day
The history of the Bahamas Islands starts with the Lucayans inhibiting the islands between 500 A.D. and 800 A.D. The Lucayans were a branch of the Tainos from the Caribbean islands at the time. For many centuries, they lived on their own without foreign interference until 1492. Christopher Columbus saw the islands, and Spanish ships followed him. They enslaved the native population, resulting in the island becoming deserted in 1513. English colonists started settling on the island in 1648.
The shallow water of the island made it difficult for the large ships to reach it. But it also provided easy passage to smaller ships. Pirates took advantage of this geography, and as a result, the place became a haven for pirates. Nassau on New Providence Island in the Bahamas was the stronghold of a loose confederacy of pirates between 1706 and 1718. The British took harsh measures, and the Bahamas became a colony in 1718. Further migrations happened after the American Revolutionary War. Thousands of American loyalists received land grants in the Bahamas and settled there. They also brought with them forced laborers and established plantations. Soon, the Bahamas was populated by enslaved African people. The Bahamas became a haven for the freed slaves when it abolished slavery. Today, 90% of the population are Afro-Bahamians.
The Bahamas then gained independence in 1973, led by Sir Lynden O. Pindling. Pindling’s actions earned him the name “Father of the Nation” of the Bahamas. He was pivotal in the independence of the nation. Queen Elizabeth II became the “Queen of the Nation.” Most of the country’s economy is driven by tourism and offshore finance.
