your ocs sound so unique 😍 can you tell us more about your them? how do you make them? which are your favorites to play and why? 🎲

I haven’t played a lot of my OCs yet, seeing as to how my list of D&D OCs is like... veryvery long :’D These are the ones I played so far:

Kah’la (Drow Paladin, Oath of Devotion) She’s a former gladiator and I was allowed to play her based on wisdom instead of charisma, giving her a negative charisma (and intelligence) score. She has no idea how the topside world works. Just wants to save her family and make her goddess proud. Disaster lesbian who hisses at tea when it burns her tongue. Is mistrustful of magic (specifically enchantment) and doesn’t really understand that the world is rarely black and white (at least not yet :D).

Nym (High Elven Warlock, Archfey Patron) I made Nym for a oneshot I played, so their backstory is very rudimentary. They made a deal with an Archfey, mainly for the ability to being able to change their body according to Gender Feels. Is a supreme asshole who likes fine wine, poetry and being the center of attention. Aroace, lone wolf except for their sprite Myrin who’s a sarcastic little shit. Definitely needs some friends but would never willingly recognize that.

Io (Half-Orc Barbarian, Path of the Totem Warrior) Io lost their whole mercenary group after being set up by a client. They were (to their knowledge) the only survivor and went on a revenge rampage, killing the former client, their whole family and employees--a crime that landed them in prison. They recently found out that one of their former companions was still alive. Agender and very gay for pretty dudes. Angry and soft all at the same time.

Nessaya (Tiefling Cleric, Death Domain) My pink, winged goth disaster, genderqueer and pan and poly and also very horny. Comes from a monastery that practices consensual necromancy and takes care of a massive graveyard with the help of now deceased former members. Nessaya carries a bag with bones around with them--a former member of the monastery called Ferdinand who was a goblin monk during life. He participated in a ritual sacrifice and lost all her memories after being reincarnated (they were a human before).

All of these were fun to play for different reasons and at the moment I’m mostly DMing, but right now I would say that Nessaya was especially fun because he’s such an extroverted disaster who just proclaims friendship after talking to people for like. Two minutes. I think I would be delighted if I could manage to make her be that character that’s always happy and outgoing and when something happens to them that making the whole group go apeshit.

I don’t have a specific process when making my characters. Oftentimes it just goes like “I don’t like that D&D has subclasses who are coded as evil, so I will make the happiest, dumbest death cleric ever. I also don’t like the whole necromancy has to be evil thing” and then I build my character around that. Sometimes I just have a vague concept (”I want to make a magical map maker” and then I end up with a Yuan-Ti Lurker in the Deep Warlock who is searching for her sunken homeworld at the bottom of the ocean and met an ancient deep sea mermaid down there who became her patron). Sometimes I’m just delighted to throw uncommon class/race combos together, or to make an archetype, and some of my OCs I made in reaction to one of my boyfriend’s OCs because I wanted to romance that specific character :’D

So far my list of OCs has 80 names on it, so if someone wanted to know about some of them, I guess you could roll 4D20 and tell me the number :D
