((Putting in a new post bc i went crazy, so sorry for the info dump
character birthdates are released through the official art books for the persona games. Under the info for each character a characters Height, Weight, Zodiac (more on this later), Blood type (more on this later), and birthdate. I made this graphic to put all the persona users (plus nanako and her dad bc why not) onto a chart to share their bdays-
i got their bdays from the art books, theres some strange things i wanted to make note incase anyone else knows where to get the info bc i couldnt find it
Tatsuya Suou has a different birthday listed between p2IS and p2EP, i'm unsure on why, both birthdates still make him a leo tho.
p3 protags, p4 protag, and p5 protag do not have bdays nor blood types listed since theyre "silent protagonists", meaning the player is to project their own bday onto said protags
Aigis has multiple manufacturing and activation dates, i went with the month+year they were made.
Morgana, Teddie, Metis, Aigis, and Koromaru don't have much listed i assume its bc theyre not human.
This is the characters with official bdays organized by western zodiac signs, ppl use zodiac signs to test compatibility and personality types of ppl, similar to the myers briggs test?? thats the best example i can think of.
This is the characters with official blood types organized by blood types, in jpn theres a theory that blood types give a person a personality type and can be used for compatibility tests (like western zodiac but with blood). People with blood type A are seen to be highly organized, precise, and pay close attention to detail. People with blood type B are seen as easy going, honest, and bubbly. People with blood type AB are seen as a combo of both A and B and are generally "perceived as geniuses or psychos". Finally people with blood type O are seen as eccentric and seen as natural leaders. This is a very vague description of each type, I recommend doing your own research into it! its interesting!
Finally I organized each persona user under their birth year and birth month bc i think thats interesting.

Another resource I love is The Cutting Room Floor, a website that catalogs cut content, debug info, and other general behind the scenes info. It has information for any game i've ever played, persona or not, like their Zelda game info pages are fucking incredible. If you have any interest in game design or how video games are made I cannot recommend this website enough, its so incredibly interesting!
I know all this bc I got into the persona series in 2014/2015, idr the exact year but I was in school then, I've had almost a decade of time to absorb and collect info lol if anything i put down is incorrect pls lmk and ill fix it <3))

**SOLVED**
Update at the bottom
22yo Yohanes Kidane has went missing.
What we know so far is that yohanes took an uber from San Jose to San Francisco to "meet a friend". His uber ride was successful and everything was fine with that, he had apparently arrived at his destination. His sister said she checked his location at around 8 pm and found he was at the San Francisco Bridge which she thought nothing of. The next day/morning she noticed his location showed that he was still at the same exact location. Later on in the day, his location was seen moving to which his family tried to contact him from that point. A stranger had picked up the phone and said they found his belongings and were just returning them to the welcome center. He was officially reported missing at 2:45pm, August 15th. As of today he has still not been found and they say there is no evidence of suspicious activity.
What I want to do is see what the charts can tell us about his possible location and what happened that night. We have 3 different times and charts to look at so it should be good, we have a lot of information to dissect. Let's hope we can find yohanes 💜

So by looking at this last seen chart alone, let's see what we can find out.
The ascendant (victim) is opposite the 7H moon:
This is interesting. I don't think this was just a friend, I believe he could of been on a date possibly with the 7th house here.
5th house gemini:
If he was with a friend, then their intention would of been to have fun and explore the golden gate bridge since it is an iconic historical place. The 5th house, which is pleasure, joy, recreation, entertainment is in gemini. So our curiosity, intellectual pursuits, knowledge/truth, experiences. It could of also been somewhat of a childlike curiosity to a dangerous extent bc he was definitely young and not from California. He had just very recently moved there from New York, so this could of been his 1st time visit. I'm not sure how busy it is at the Golden gate bridge welcome center at 8pm, on the website it says they're closed at 6pm. So not sure if he was there after hours or what, I just know during active hours they can be pretty busy/chaotic. There's a bunch of cars/traffic, variety of people/vistors/tourists/families etc, lots of things to do, so it's easy to be overwhelmed by everything going on there.
Jupiter square the asc:
He could have done something in excess possibly, maybe he is located far from where he's expected to be. Maybe something foreign and unexpected/untypical happened to him.
Mars sesquiquadrate the asc:
Idk why but I get the feeling he could of been under the influence, maybe smoking/drinking. Mars in hard aspect to the ascendant would be brash decisions, being to heavy on their feet, clumsy, impulsive, abrasive, excessively confident.
Even tho I don't think this is something he would do based on what we know about him and his past. If that's not the case maybe whatever happened to him was quick, harsh, forceful/painful, basically anything but soft or gentle.
Pluto conjunct ascendant:
It would of been very visible to others that he was a influential individual, maybe he was intimidating, powerful looking, deep, he could of also been eerily quiet at some points. Like his presence was felt strongly to those surrounding him.
He could of also seemed very naive tho at the same time since I just noticed that pluto is in the 12th house. Maybe this power and influence was hidden/dimmed in some way.
7H Moon opposite 12H pluto:
Maybe he was feeling very unstable at this time, like one second he was feeling safe, good, comfortable, in a familiar environment but then all of sudden he would be paranoid, hyper aware, afraid, suspicious etc. He could of felt like he was having some kind of psychosis, derealization.
I have my natal pluto in the 12h also conjunct my ascendant so I understand that feeling very much.
Something interesting is that with pluto on the ascendant and with moon opp pluto it seems like this could have a lot to do with assets, power, extracting resources from something/someone but all of his belongings were found. A backpack with his personal paperwork, 2 laptops, wallet. So if all of his belongings were found, it would be only him who went missing..
Let's not get too ahead ourselves bc this was at the point when he was seen leaving in the uber. Let's check out the 8pm chart.
Wow...looks like a lot has changed since he left in the uber at 7:15pm.
Moon in the 6th house:
So the moon was in the 7th house at 7:15, meaning that he was definitely with someone at this time where it was mutual/give-take type of relationship. Could explain basically the whole uber situation "ride sharing" to now at 8pm at the Golden gate bridge. It's possible that he needed help at this time, the 6th house to me is our health, so I wonder if he was hurt already at this moment. Either he needed help or someone was asking him for help. He could of been at aid of someone else or looking for some himself.
The moon can actually tell us a lot about the current situation, in a crazy deep way. To me this one is very important.
So leo moon in the 6th house could explain that maybe he was trying to have fun and medicate himself? Maybe he wanted to be seen in a good light, could stem from anxiety, perfectionism, wanting validation. Medicating was his way of getting his nerves under control and to get him to feel how he wanted to feel in that moment. He was seeking some attention/affection/admiration, maybe even just needed someone to acknowledge everything he's done. It's like sometimes all you need is to hear is that you're doing well, or some words of encouragement. Some people don't get enough reassurance, so it makes them feel somewhat insecure and unstable. He could of also wanted some kind of feedback, advice, someone who can solve a problem he had.
Sun opposite asc:
Maybe he could of been somewhat egotistical, swinging between wanting to be self-assured, bold, presentable, to needing others to ground him, validate him, soothe him. Maybe at some points he wanted to be alone but then he suddenly wanted company and to socialize. This may be a very important point in the chart bc the sun is exactly opposing the asc both at 22° so that confirms that this is a significant aspect. He could have been having trouble being perceived, he felt at odds/disconnected with his appearance vs. center core self. He could of felt somewhat chaotic or unorganized.
I'm curious who this friend was that he went to go see and if they can confirm that they were possibly doing dr*gs bc that's what this chart seems like to me. From what we know about this case, there is no information about the friend and who he went to meet that night. No follow up about that person or anything. The police must know something we don't, they don't wanna reveal all the information yet or maybe in the process of getting it.
Venus opposite asc:
Maybe he was unaware or not in control of how he was being perceived. Bc venus is the ruler of libra which is our partnerships and relationships, aspecting the ascendant would be the way we show up for ourselves and others in a presentable, respectful, thoughtful, pleasing way. With venus opp asc maybe he was getting somewhat sloppy and losing his "grace" if that's the right word. Basically he was just becoming someone who was unpleasant to be around or he would swing between self interested, selfish to trying to please others. Since venus is in the 6th house maybe he wanted to seem normal and not intoxicated.
Jupiter in the 3rd conjunct uranus:
It's possible he's a short distance away/nearby. Something very unexpected happened.
UPDATE:
This whole post was unfinished bc at the time (before we knew what happened to yohanes) my mind wasn't super clear and I was unable to read these charts, but we now have an update so I'll finish up the rest of the details later.
They say his death was consistent with murder/suicide.
I remember telling someone in the forensic astrology group on fb (link to that below) that it couldn't have been a suicide bc he had so much going for him with his new job at netflix and his accomplishments, but at the end of the day those things aren't as important as who we are with out those things. It doesn't matter how "good" someone has it, there's more to life than what the public sees or what we do to stay afloat/survival.

Louis’ show in Tampa tomorrow is my first concert ever and I really have no idea of what to do so I thought i’d ask you since it seem you kinda know a lot about this?? Anyways I looked at the website and read everything in it but there’s no mention of merch or any of that stuff so I just wanted to ask if you could tell me anything about this? like are there times they’re open or is it like open to buy all day? also do you have any advice for me? because i’m kinda freaking out about the show! 😅 Sorry if this is annoying and I really hope you’re having a nice day! ❤️
Hi dear,
Most of the time venues don't say anything about the merch bc it's understood you will be able to buy some once you're inside the venue. This will be the case tomorrow. They will have one or more merch stands inside the venue, and you'll be able to buy stuff there! If you want to know the exact location, my advice is to call them tomorrow morning and ask them, they're very happy to inform fans. If you're GA and are lining up for a wristband, you may be able to ask once you're at the venue at 9am. Once you have the info, look at the venue's maps and figure out where you need to go for the merch once you're inside!
My advice is to get merch first thing when you enter. Some merch items/sizes can sell out quickly, and lines get HUGE, so if you wait too long you might find yourself in a merch line for 1h+, and things could be sold out. Try to arrive a bit before doors open at 6pm if you have seats, so you can get in early and go to the merch stand.
If you have pit tickets and are trying to get as close as possible, then I'm afraid getting merch before the show starts is off the table. You'd have to wait till after the show, and see what's left for sale. If you don't mind being in the middle/back of pit, then you can get merch before the show. If you have seats, you don't need to worry about where you'll end up.
Make sure to read thru all the info I posted about the show! Also, follow the venue on IG and/or Twitter for updates they'll post throughout the day.
And remember: it's normal to be nervous, but ultimately the concert is an extremely exciting and happy time, and you'll have lots of fun there! No need to be scared! Also try to chat with people in line around you, look for the bracelet exchange people, and talk to other fans around your seat/around you in pit. Most of the time everyone is very nice, and also very happy to be there, and everyone is happy to exchange/give bracelets away!

How does Gale & Venali's first major holiday together go? (Holiday as in vacation or holiday as in annual cultural event, or both <3)
oh the can of worms you’ve opened and exact distraction i needed in the wake of bad weather. i made a table of the different known holidays in both waterdeep and baldur’s gate (way more known holidays in waterdeep btw. gosh.) and have used it to figure out how gale would help ven learn waterdhavian traditions once she moves there.
join me in this space. (hi it's me from after i finished writing the post, it's a bit rambly bc i thought the storm would be really bad and i get nervous but it's been chill)
so i'm gonna answer Both of those bc of course i am but bc of that preamble i'm doing holiday as a cultural event first.
it's usually between elient and marpenoth that the game ends (seasonally early-mid fall on the harptos calendar (i'm telling u i dug for this)). now it takes about a month to travel from baldur's gate to waterdeep, but i'm assuming gale can just kinda. teleport them there. like there's no way he doesn't have some sort of failsafe for getting back to his tower, wizards are just like that. or maybe even tara can help. though i suppose it'll still take about a month for ven to move her stuff into his tower even with the light help of magic for the sake of "holy shit i just need to do something a normal way for a second after All Of That."
anyway, that would mean ven's first official holiday in waterdeep would be liar's night (marpenoth 30th) OR last sheaf (the next month, uktar 20).
liar's night is a holy day for leira (goddess of deception and illusion) and mask (god of shadows, thievery, and at some point intrigue) where people will dress up in costumes and masks and pretend to be what/whoever they usually aren't. they also walk around with lit candles, called liar's candles, and as long as it's lit they can lie and do embarrassing things they wouldn't normally do and it can't hurt their reputation. this could be a really interesting one for venali conceptually given the whole. pretending to be a wizard for seven years thing. still gotta decide if she's keeping that ruse up once she moves to waterdeep or if she can just kinda do whatever now that she's saved faerûn and is engaged to famed, disgraced, and famed again but keeping it lowkey this time wizard gale dekarios. probably the latter. more than likely the latter. what a weight off her shoulders amiright.
the website said this holiday usually devolves into anarchic hedonism but i think that's bc ed greenwood is just kinda. weird. but y'know, ven and gale wouldn't really partake in that. tbh they'd still be Way too tired to even do normal festivities, and neither of them are really aligned with leira or mask so it's kinda whatever for them.
IF instead their first holiday is last sheaf, they'd be rested enough to actually celebrate AND have a great time (also i think it would be ven's favorite bc it's mine. it sounds so cozy). it's a day of feasting to celebrate the harvest. ppl will give gifts of lil nonperishable snacks like jars of jam or smoked meats and just in general be pretty neighborly. it's also when they do a last call for letters for trade ships, carriages, and caravans bc after that the roads start becoming difficult to travel and it'll be harder to send mail. ven writes a letter to her mom in baldur's gate updating her on the move, that she's getting well settled, and will be taking a gale-enforced break for the next handful of months to recuperate.
gale would make a Lovely homecooked spread and invite his mother over to join them and ven would make lil gift bags with hard bread and cheeses and preserves and dried meats to hand out to her neighbors so she can introduce herself and get involved in local customs. she has a lot of fun putting them together and is very pleased when they have something for her to take back :)
as for their first Vacation. i think it's gotta be after ven resolves her personal quest (btw still not planned out in full but i think i have decided that she doesn't get Rid of her wild magic but she does learn to manage it better (looking at u high level wild magic sorcerer traits)).
i think they go to candlekeep (fuckin nerds), but not just bc they're huge nerds. elminster helps them get in bc let's be real he owes them (i think it'd be funny if they go in 1493 bc that's like a year before they relax the entrance requirements). though i wonder if gale would be considered a "friend of Candlekeep" because he was an archmage at one point. idk. either way, they're able to get in.
the plan is ven's gonna have a new outlook on magic by the time she resolves her Problem and gale wants to help her foster a healthy relationship with it now that she's resigned herself to embracing her newly realized (and permanent) tie to it. candlekeep by my understanding has several amenities for trying out new spells and quiet research. ven loves research for fun, i assume gale does too. WAIT BUT ALSO. oh man. imagine you spend 7-8 years of your life pretending to be a wizard so you have access to information you were previously barred from so you can search for literally ANYTHING that can help you break a curse that ruined your life. maybe you've even attempted to get into candlekeep before and couldn't meet the entrance requirements. and then as soon as you resolve that Whole situation your partner is like "hey y'know where we could vacation? the one place that could have answered your biggest questions Years ago were you allowed to get in."
or they could just go to neverwinter.

so in a very benevolent gesture (/s), sony decided to keep the PlayStation store active for PS3 and VITA after they got pushback for announcing its closure. Great, it means I can finally get the tlou dlc bc I never actually got around to playing it before.
The only catch is that they don't process payments directly on the PS3 anymore, so you need to put funds in your wallet beforehand. I’ve mentioned before that the mermaid transformation seems to be far more than just swapping out legs for a tail, but today I want to try to do a deep dive (no pun intended) into what such a transformation might actually mean. This is mostly just questions I ask myself and I’m trying to find answers for, since I don’t have nearly as many answers as I would like at this point. But I like making these speculation posts, so here we go.
The first question I have is actually about being a half-mermaid. The information that Hadley looks up says that mermaids come of age “around” 16, so... does that mean it’s not an exact birthday thing? Granted, this is a human website that may not be 100% correct by any means (as Fallon points out), but given that the movie never contradicts any of this information, I assume it’s more or less accurate. It’s never mentioned that it’s Merliah’s birthday, not even in the second movie--it’s Merliah’s anniversary, not birthday. So I have to wonder, if it’s not a Magical 16th Birthday thing, what exactly would trigger such a change in her? My going assumption is that it’s actually the first time she touches the ocean after her 16th birthday that does it. We at least know that her hair getting wet made the pink streaks appear, so that’s probably what it is. I’m not sure how long after her birthday this would be, or even if it’s logical for her to have not touched the ocean since her birthday (given that she’s both a surfer and actually lives on the beach), but it’s what I have.
The second question is what does Zuma mean when she says that Merliah’s mermaid half has “resurfaced”? At what point did it... leave? Merliah didn’t have pink hair as a baby, so is she talking about the waterbreathing? Merliah came up from under the water with Calissa as a baby, so apparently, she could breathe water as a baby--which makes sense biologically for a hybrid, otherwise she could have drowned when she was born. But then Merliah rediscovers this ability, obviously, but I have to wonder... did she ever really lose it? Kids are taught to hold their breath underwater as children, and Break would have no reason to teach Merliah otherwise... So I wonder a lot about whether it is an ability that actually faded, or if it’s something she just didn’t know she could do. And why would that ability fade? Would it have faded if she had stayed in the water and hadn’t moved to land? Do babies just not have enough magic to sustain it? And if that is not what Zuma meant... what other physiological changes happened to Merliah?
The third question is actually the main point of this post: What, exactly happens when one is transformed from a human to a mermaid (and vice versa)? Like, physiologically, biologically, what all changes? It makes sense that more than just the legs/tail would change, bc... There’s a lot going on there. There are leg bones and muscles and veins, the pelvis and genitals, the skin and scales... and that’s just what we can logically assume. We have no idea what mermaids look like inside, if they have different organs, if they’re at all similar to us anatomically. They’re apparently biologically compatible, given that Merliah exists, but that doesn’t say anything about their actual anatomy. So when everything on the outside changes--the hair, the skin, the legs/tail--I wonder a lot about what, exactly, is going on inside. It certainly seems like an entire bodyswap between species, unlike say a fairy that just... has wings on their back. (Altho the point about their internal anatomy possibly being radically different still stands. But that’s another post.)
The fourth question is whether, given all of the implications that, if it would be ill-advised to transform before the 16th birthday. Does the age actually have meaning, or is it just tradition? For humans at least, 16 is an age where a person might have hit their full adult height--not always, late growth spurts can happen--but it’s a possibility. Does a person need to be their full adult height? Does it matter? Are the two forms they have linked, and are they ‘updated’ between transformations? If a child switches back and forth, will it affect their growth (in either form) at all? The transformation certainly doesn’t seem dangerous (this is Barbie, after all), but looking at it critically really lends itself to it not being something to take super lightly. Obviously, this doesn’t mean much for Merliah, but I have mermaid and mermaid hybrid ocs to think about.
And speaking of, the fifth question I have is about pregnancy. If one is pregnant... can they transform back and forth? Should they? Is there any kind of mechanism in the magic to prevent such a change, if it would be dangerous? With the anatomical differences that may be present, and it being essentially a brain swap between two bodies... I have to wonder what would happen. I imagine it would be difficult to test in-universe, unless the person in question didn’t want to be pregnant anyway, so it didn’t matter to them. Since the transformation is powered by the magic in the talisman, if it did have a failsafe of any kind... taking it off would probably do the trick. But if it didn’t, that would also be interesting. No way to really know for sure, tho, at least in canon. (Personally, I’m deciding that yes, talismans do have a failsafe, and that taking it off will revert you to your original form no matter what, bc that makes the most sense to me.)
The sixth question is whether mermaid transformation talisman must be a necklace. I have to imagine it doesn’t matter, as much it being something that the person can wear between forms. I don’t think there’s any inherent power in a necklace as opposed to, say, a ring or a bracelet. Like, an anklet probably wouldn’t work, just bc... in one of the forms, there would be no ankles... but some mermaids do appear to wear tail jewelry, so... maybe it would? Whether it has to be jewelry at all is also something I wonder. Like, could it be a shirt? Does the material matter at all, or is it simply about wearability? I like it being jewelry, if only for the hashtag aesthetic, but I have to wonder what limitations--if any--there are on the magic, and whether anyone has decided to test out different things before, bc I certainly want to know.
The seventh and final question goes back to my second, but I wonder a lot whether a mermaid turned human retains their waterbreathing. We know that Merliah can breathe water in human form, obviously, but is this a hybrid exclusive trait? If, say, Calissa turned human... Could she? Why or why not? I’m inclined to say that she still could, only bc I think of waterbreathing as the easiest and simplest part of the mermaid transformation, bc in Fairytopia they have plants that can grant you the ability, no talisman required. (Altho how long the effects of those plants last is also something I’m highly interested in, but that’s another post.) But it would also make sense if she couldn’t, if the transformation truly alters you physically as much as I think it might--but again, no way to know for sure, I kind of just have to decide on an answer one way or the other, bc either could be right.
Anyway, I kind of talked myself in circles, but there’s always a lot to unpack about these things. This isn’t even everything I’ve got but I’m tired so I’m just gonna call it here lol. The point is, I’ve given these mermaids a lot of thought and I still don’t have solid answers, and in a way that’s great! The barbieverse is something that feels like it keeps on giving, even without new content, bc there’s just a lot to go back and analyze in the past movies. I hope I never stop having fun with it (even if I will sometimes also stress about not have an answer for everything).

Movie Recommendations?
So, recently I’ve been watching some (oldish?) flicks and I needed to make a list. Most of these are more comedy-centered, but they’re all just great films all around. (Note that the numerical order has no meaning as these are all my new favorite movies of all time. Also, some of these are fairly popular, others have super low or nonexistent ratings and they all deserve the world. My descriptions probably don’t do them justice, but if they sound interesting look them up on demand, at a library, or wherever you do movies? Most of them I found for under a buck, but they really are amazing.)
1. Clue (1985) Based of the board game (You know? Prof. Plum in the Study with the candlestick?) it’s really well thought out despite being a comedy based off a children’s board game? The jokes are said at just the right time with just the right context, the acting is gorgeous, and there are three (yes, three) convoluted whodunnit endings to the same exact mystery. I’m gonna say right now, this is my favorite movie. 14/10
2. See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) First of all, Gene Wilder. Second of all, Richard Pryor. I can’t even explain the plot except that it’s like if you told ten year old me the general plot of Birds, gave me a computer and a half dead Camcorder, and told me to replicate it. The films budget was almost nonexistent and it has a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you ever have 1 hour and 45 minutes of your life you want to completely waste, this is the perfect film. I also kind of consider it a horror film because of how shitty it looks. And if you found it hilariously sucky like I did there’s a sequel!!! Birdemic 2: The Resurrection, which is equally bad if not worse. |-10|/10 (think back to junior high algebra for that rating)
5. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) This movie isn’t for everyone, but I think it’s a masterpiece. (This is another of the more popular ones, btw) It’s a Doctor Who-esque comedy about two highschoolers are failing their history class. They travel through time to get their final essay presentation straight from the horse’s mouth. The jokes are kind of cheesy and the graphics are shitty compared to what we have today but it’s a golden movie. It has that 80s kind of stoner humor that only an 80s movie can have. There’s a sequel that I haven’t seen but it has a sequel that I haven’t seen yet, it has a 90% audience rating though, so it’s probably okay. Bill and Ted I : 11/10
6. Dude, Where’s My Car? (2000) Another stoner movie, that I honestly can’t define the plot of. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an iconic movie but it’s like an ancient epic in a lost language that you can’t decipher. There’s aliens too? They try to find his car. A good movie. 9/10
7. Clerks (1994) One of the most popular on the list, ngl, it’s not for everyone though. I personally super enjoyed it, but there’s a shit ton of crude, macabre humor injected into this movie. There’s a lot of references to it on this website but I’m pretty sure no one says exactly where they got the source audio, or they just don’t know where it came from in the first place. It came from this scene. There’s also a 2nd and 3rd movie if it’s your thing, I haven’t seen them yet myself. 10/10
8. Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1961) Okay tbh I was more skeptical about this one bc it’s an old romance flick and normally they’re seeded with sexism and shit but the romance aspect actually felt genuine. The acting felt more spur of the moment decision than that old movie monotonous stage and stript feel. There were two reoccurring race sterotype charaters (which is gross) but they only have about a couple min of screen time in total. Overall one of my favorite romance-y films 9/10

Long before Gutenberg arrived on the scene in the fifteenth century with his fancy printing press, people were penning everything from prayers and poems to mantras and memoirs. And everything in between. Even after the proliferation of print, the humble pen continued to flourish. History owes a lot to the literates who, entirely off their own steam, chose to document the times they lived in. Without people such as Samuel Pepys, there would be huge caverns in our knowledge of major events that happened in relatively recent history. But over the past couple of decades, there has been a tangible shift away from ink and lead-based inscription, into digital representations of this thing we call language.'
ACARA – Framework for Aboriginal Languages and Torres Strait Islander Languages (December 2015)
The draft Framework is deliberately designed to cater for the 250 or more Aboriginal languages and Torres Strait Islander languages of Australia, irrespective of the ecology of each language, whether it is currently used for everyday communication, or being revitalised, or one of the many creo le languages that have arisen through language contact in Australia. The draft Framework provides both important guidance and necessary flexibility for the develop ment of language-specific programs for any Aboriginal language or Torres Strait Islander language.

most popular fast fashion retailers (forever21, charlotte russe, etc) boasting a plus sized line only offer up to a US size 22/24. most clothing shops that offer above that carry only unfashionable tunics and mumus, which just plain...sucks. but there are still a handful of shops out there fighting the good fight, who believe fashion is for everyone!!!!
i’ve collected as many of those shops that i could think of, including indie/handmade shops as well as larger retail stores that sell plus sized clothing here as a resource, featuring a clear breakdown of their general price range as well as the size range they carry! all of these stores listed at least go up to a size 30, but some have custom sizing where you can send in your exact measurements, and others have standard sizes up to US 44!

GOOD STAPLES/BASICS
Catherines
the styles at Catherine’s are pretty similar to something like Catos, so they tend to skew a bit older, but there are still many basics that can be found there to where i would suggest adding it into your rotation. they have lots of denim typically for those looking for jeans, as well as an athletic line!

price range: $8 - $150 -- most staple pieces are around $30 - $70
Ulla Popken
some of ulla popken’s selection is not something i would normally promote, as the majority of it leans fairly old and has the tendancy to be very sack-shaped and tunic-y, something that i’m very against being constantly pushed on plus sized women. however, the denim section alone is so nice that it merits being on this list! they have really cute jeans, in sizes 12 - 38, and you can find a lot of cuts of pants that would normally be very difficult to find in larger sizes!

Kiyonna
kiyonna is fairly expensive, but has a lot of really good formalwear options as well as pieces that would be perfect for office wear. the overall style of their clothing is elegant and classic. i’m a fan of their skirts and dresses, but the high amount of “flattering” tunic tops always sorts of bugs me with stores like this, especially at this high of a price point. kiyonna also has a few denim options in terms of jeans, but all of them are really nice looking and modern, so it’s a very good option for that as well, if you’re willing to shell out around $100 for a pair of jeans.

Full Beauty
full beauty is more of a hub/retail type site that carries a lot of different brands, from melissa mcarthy to other places on this list, like kiyonna and ulla popken. some of the styles on this website are cute, but others have the similar “flattering” tunic issue that are not my favorite. all the above garments posted are from melissa mcarthy’s line. fair warning though--there are many garments on this website that only go up to XL. i got super excited seeing a line by mango called Violeta that i’d never seen before, assuming that on a site called “full beauty” they’d at least go up to 3XL, but nope! so i suggest filtering by sizes while searching around--it’s definitely a place you can get some good deals, if you’re willing to hunt.

Avenue
avenue is a bit more modern looking than some of these other choices, but still very much focused on the whole traditionally “flattering” plus sized silhouette that focuses too much (in my opinion) on fit and flare and tunic shapes. avenue does have some really cute detailing on pieces like this though, like the two tops above--one featuring a strappy detail that is definitely trend-right currently, and the shoulder cut outs as well as the embroidery in the second top. it’s also a good source for jeans and denim, and has a lot of cute colors and prints that you might not see somewhere a bit more traditional like Catherine’s.

TRENDIER OPTIONS
eShakti
eShakti is a really unique site that offers customized fit clothing for extremely affordable prices–you give them your measurements and they will fit the garments specifically for you. there’s an ENORMOUS range of items, ranging from traditional workwear to more unique vintage-inspired dresses, as well as quite a few pieces that reflect today’s trends.
size range: XS - 6XL in standard sizes, PLUS custom sizing into infinity
price range: $30 - $100+ (also offers bridal options for around $500+)
society+
society+ is a huge favorite for plus sized bloggers pretty much everywhere, and i think it is for a really good reason. i love that they use plus sized women of all sizes and shapes on their site--the pictures feel real, and you can really tell fit and believe that fit when you’re scrolling through all their clothes. all of their skirts are gorgeous, and i really love the other pieces they’re adding to their in house line. definitely a place to keep an eye on!

Ashley Stewart
Ashley Stewart is a plus size friendly brand who has recently opened up into offering extended sizes 28-36, which include a lot of really adorable pieces you’d have a hard time finding in plus sizes until fairly recently. they also have a lot more standard plus size faire--the sort of flowy tunic styles that i’m not a huuuge fan of, but you can find a lot of really cute unique things there too if you keep an eye out!

SWAK designs is another blogger favorite, and great for basics that have a trendy twist to them. lots of solid colored items in modern cuts, with a huge size range and good quality for a great price.

Chubby Cartwheels
chubby cartwheels is one of MY personal favorites--somewhere i’ve been wanting to buy from as soon as i’m able to save up for like, serious years. they’re super affordable, but i’m always in love with their less practical pieces--short mini dresses, fully lace queenly gowns--so much cool shit. every time they release a new collection all the alt plus size bloggers and chubby goths i follow on social media go nuts, because it’s always such cool, unique stuff.

Joolz Fashion
this mid-size etsy shop has made to order garments in all sorts of fun prints, and offers custom sizing on a LOT of it’s items. i still am a sucker for space print and similar things--they were so ubiquitous just a few years ago but finding them in plus sizes was HARD at the time, so it’s so nice to see a shop making those types of items now! definitely one to watch!

Redress NYC
redress has A LOT of really awesome pieces, a lot of which that are frequently resold by places like modcloth because of their unique, trend-right designs. they have items that are extremely reasonably priced and really stand out from the majority of plus sized faire. i’m particularly in love with their bright collaboration with retrolicious. they also carry some vintage pieces, items from smaller indie brands like chubby cartwheels and similar, and butch styles!

Trash Queen
my own shop, which is totally run by me, also carries extended sizes. all items are available at least to size 24/3XL, but many more are available in a size 5XL/32! trash queen carries a LOT of really unique prints in cute, on trend silhouettes (skater dresses! crop tops!) that are perfect for most alternative styles or anyone who likes bright, energetic fashion that is extremely affordable, (the most affordable on this list, in fact!!!) comfortable, and super unique.

Torrid
torrid is definitely a plus sized mainstay--lots of fairly high quality pieces at a pretty affordable price that are on-trend. torrid is great any time you need clothing for an event like a wedding, or if you need to dress business casual. i love torrid myself, and often stalk our local store for clearance items when they have BOGO clearance, as you can get slightly out of season dresses that are nice enough for work for like $8 - $20.

Modcloth
modcloth has recently been adding a lot more pieces to their in house line, and all of them have been available in up to 4X, which is awesome. modcloth carries unique clothing that is really cute and quirky, typically with a vintage flair. similar to torrid, they offer a lot of great choices for events as well as business casual/office wear, which is often hard to find for plus sizes if you don’t want to go to tunic town or to wear anything super matronly. definitely recommend them!

the best version of yourself

mina isn’t the type to feel ashamed of herself. everyone around her new that she was confident and outspoken. whatever she thought of inside her head, there would be a 59% chance she’d say it with a 41% chance she’d keep it to herself just because she had some manners. of course, she had some class by making a bunch of rant posts on her spam rather than on her main instagram or main twitter. some of her thoughts on real life would go on her stan twitter, but she’s tried her best to keep that mainly kpop and movies. but, to be honest, she wouldn’t have made a spam had it not been for her mutuals and her friends in real life.
this time, however, she felt emotions that she was afraid to tell anyone else.
she usually watched the gayos on her own, since she was the only one in the house who had an interest in them because her favorite idols were on that show. however, the one she always kept an eye on was mbc’s gayo daejejun because of the amazing stages that the idols would perform. not to mention, it was the gayo with the countdown to the new year. however, this time, she debated if she even wanted to watch it considering that this was the same exact one that she made a video audition for, only to not get in.
when she saw the post on mbc’s page, she was disappointed, but not surprised. it was bold of her to assume she would ever get the chance compared to the other dancers. when she watched the other entries, she was already beginning to feel insecure. but seeing the announcement only supported her negative feelings. however, one name catches her eye and it’s the main reason why she watches the music show tonight.
chungha isn’t the only reason why she’s watching this, but she’s the one mina looks forward to seeing the most. it’s weird how almost two years ago, mina became a fan from watching her on the fourth season of the mgas. now, she was watching her as not only a fan, but a friend. it’s only a glow up she can talk about on her spam, but she’s able to use her excitement for her tweets while streaming.
she makes sure to tweet about her favorite idols and their performances before the awaited dance performance comes. when it begins, she quickly takes out her phone as she patiently waits for her friend to be shown on her screen. she manages to record the 30 seconds of chungha’s dance on her instagram story while whisper-screaming throughout all of it. “ahh!!! kim chungha is so cool!!!! she’s the coolest unnie ever!!!” and a bunch of “wow!”’s and “so cool!”’s. for the group performance, she kept all her excitement on her twitter with a few pictures saved for her spam later on.
it’s odd. before watching this, she thought she was going to feel an overwhelming amount of jealousy just by seeing chungha for a second. but after the performance ended, she couldn’t help but feel inspired. perhaps it was because of the fact that this wasn’t the first time she’s seen chungha on national television, but mina didn’t feel too upset like she thought she would. what a relief.
she posts the pictures on her spamsta (spam + finsta) once the countdown for the new year is finished and captions it with her thoughts. after she posted it, she locked her phone, turned off her tv, and went upstairs to go to bed, excited for what was to come in the future.

watching her tonight gave me so much motivation tbh. i remember i used to be so… starstruck by her when i first saw her on mga4 and now i know her in real life and we’re friends !!!! i’m so glad she got to audition for this and perform onstage in front of a bunch of idols. she’s so cool!!!!
i’m gonna work hard with future covers so that i can hopefully be dancing on that same stage!!!!!!!!! it’d be cooler if it was w her!!!! but yeah. hopefully if i work hard enough, i can be on the stage like her (and my cousin and brother if theyre reading this who knows)

having been on stan twitter since she moved back to korea, she’s gotten to explore the many sides of the website. though she’s primarily a kpop fan account, she also keeps tabs on film twitter. it’s to the point where she even has mutuals who are apart of that community and she frequently talks to them about her favorite movies (recently, it’s been about it 2 because she loves her best boys richie and eddie). so of course, when she asked for movie recommendations on her account, she hoped that said mutuals would see it and give their insight.
though there were many suggestions, she chose lady bird by the end of it. she knew about the movie years ago, but she never really got around to watching it until now. she’s read mixed reviews, so she was never really able to form a solid opinion on this movie. she told herself not to expect much, since this was a coming-of-age film. but, by the end of it, she found herself in tears. she goes on twitter and writes up a tweet as a response to the movie.

before she’s about to make a tweet about watching midsommar next, she hears her phone vibrate. putting her laptop to the side, she picks up her phone and sees an email from snu.
dear mina,
the admissions committee at seoul national university has re-reviewed all aspects of your application in its holistic review process, and you have an updated admissions decision. you may now view your updated admissions decision in your portal.
she gasps.
as she clicks on the link to her portal and logs in, she was immediately welcomed by the site with a big “CONGRATULATIONS!” and if that wasn’t already obvious enough for her, she looks around to find the little “status: accepted” on her page. she sighs in relief and puts her phone to the side as she lies on her bed. she’s not necessarily excited that she got into a school. even now, she was still questioning if she wanted to go to school to begin with. all she knew was that at this point, she was going somewhere. whether or not this is what she really wanted to do, she at least has an idea of where she’s starting.
maybe now her mom would stop badgering her. maybe now she can show her that she could do things without her.
…
“i got accepted into snu today.”
it’s used to start discussion, even though she didn’t really want to talk about it with her. it had to come out somehow because even if she was nervous with how she was going to reply, at least her mom would be aware of it.
her father was the first to say something about it and mina wants to verbally thank him for speaking before her mom does. “honey, congratulations! i knew you would be able to get into that school.”
“thank you,” mina says with a small smile before she looks over at her mom to see what she will respond with because it was obvious she had something to say about it.
“why did it take so long for a response?” she asks. “you applied for early decision, didn’t you?”
it takes a lot for mina to not say something snarky in response. she’s not going to do that now. not so soon. “well, competition’s pretty tough. a lot of kids are applying for snu. especially in my class.” she wasn’t exactly lying, but it was a better response than “i was waitlisted for a month.” and even if she responded with that, at least she got into the school. wasn’t that enough?
her mom lets out a small “hm” before eating more of their dinner. “well, good job on getting into that school. with how long the response took, i was starting to worry.”
mina frowns. “i got into other schools, you know.”
“but did you want to get into any of those other schools?” when mina’s silent for a response, her mother only continues. “you said that you were aiming for snu and it took long enough in order to get a response.”
“can’t you just be happy over the fact that i actually got into the school?” mina asks, feeling her voice rise. “i thought you would be proud of me. is it that much of a surprise that i got in?”
“all of your friends got accepted into their schools quicker.” mina feels her grip tighten on the chopsticks in her hands. “all i’m saying is you should’ve at least tried harder or at least recognize that you should’ve done better.”
mina finds it hard to calm down after hearing that. it’s not like she didn’t expect a response like that, but to actually hear it from her makes her laugh bitterly. it’s sad to say she’s not surprised because this was what their relationship is at this point. even if she told herself that she just wanted to get into school in order to get her mom off her back, her words only make it seem like she was mocking her even if she reached at least the minimum. it made mina wish her mother lowered her expectations or at least make her own higher.
she eats her food in a hurry, hoping to get out of this dinner as soon as possible. of course, her mother has an issue with it as she glared at her from across the table. “slow down. you look like an animal eating like that.”
mina ignores her and she manages to empty her bowl, still trying to bite and swallow the leftover food in her mouth. she quickly stands up from her chair, puts her bowl and utensils in the sink, and runs upstairs, swallowing the last bit of her food down. she closes her door behind her even if she knows her mother was going to go up to her room anyways. when she hears the door open, she rolls her eyes before she turns to her mom.
“can you knock?” the impatient tone was one she’s used frequently enough. whether or not she was proud of it, she kept that information to herself.
her mother’s not afraid of it, though. in fact, if anything, she’s probably a professional at dealing with it. “you’re one to talk about manners,” she scolds. “what is with you?! at least try to stay for the entire dinner and not make it seem like you don’t like my company.”
“why would i do that?” mina scoffs. “you’d yell at me for faking it, anyway.”
her mom sighs. “why are you so selfish? why do you keep on doing this? do you understand how uncomfortable your father feels whenever we fight? how uncomfortable i feel?!”
“i’m sorry for being upset over you not being a good mom,” she responds, crossing her arms as if to do the bare minimum of making fun of the woman in front of her who would do the same in their past arguments. “i got into a good school and all you can say is ‘i’m surprised they didn’t reject you straight up’? no ‘congratulations’ or ‘i’m happy you got into the school you wanted to get into’? shouldn’t you at least be glad over the fact that i’m going-”
“how am i going to explain to the family that it took a few months for my daughter to tell me she got into snu after a few months since she applied?” her mom interrupts her, angering mina even more. “it didn’t take long for jaebeom to get his letter of acceptance. it didn’t take daniel long for him to know if he got in. do you know what they’ll say when i tell them you got accepted after countless times of me saying ‘oh i don’t know yet’, ‘she hasn’t received anything yet’? they’ll think i’m raising-”
“what? an idiot?” mina laughs. “yeah. i’m sure everyone in the family’s already aware of the fact that i’m never going to be a lawyer living in america. at least i got into a school.”
her mother then points at mina and she has to hold the urge to not swat the hand away from her face. “look at you! you’re already making yourself sound bad by acting like it’s a miracle they accepted you in the first place!” she criticizes. “you’re supposed to go to school. you’re supposed to get a degree in order to get a good job somewhere. after all your father and i’ve done for you and your brothers, why are you the only one who treats this like it’s not a big deal?!”
“i am treating this like it’s a big deal!” mina asserts. “do you know how many nights i spent studying for tests that i knew i was going to fail? all the times i had to stay after school in order to make sure it wouldn’t affect my chances?! i worked so hard in the last few months to be accepted and i’m the only one in this room proud of myself for it! it’s like you’re actively trying to find reasons to be disappointed in me, even when i do something good!”
“maybe you should be trying to not constantly disappoint me, then.” her mother turns her back to her daughter and makes way for the door, but mina mutters something else that makes her stop in her steps.
“the one time i do something that i thought could impress you and you’re still disappointed in me.”
her mother doesn’t respond. all she does is stand for a moment before she leaves, not even bothering to close the door behind her.
