Do you see Jinwoo's yandere potential or nah
i do…. hehehe (/ω\) i think he’d be an overly protective yandere that may resort to some… violence if people won’t leave his darling alone.

yakou furio's character is so tragic to me. i wanna meme about how they used the fridged wife trope but other than that it's like. he lost his family and later all of his coworkers and just. existed alone for years.
looking at the state the submarine and especially his bedroom was in, with everything being a mess and all the cigarette butts in his bed, yakou was clearly depressed. he wouldn't even take on any interesting cases to fulfill his passion as a detective because he was so afraid of the peacekeepers. instead he just kept his head down. surviving but not actually living.
and then he finally gets some new detectives to work at his agency and the first thing he can do is fail to save most of them from dying horribly. but the five that yakou did manage to save latch onto him and he starts getting into a leader role! even if his new coworkers are all rowdy and get into trouble they still respect him as a leader and look up to him.
the detectives keep picking fights with the peacekeepers that yakou has been trying so hard to dodge. and usually the resolution is kind of messed up because the victims die but the detectives prove themselves capable of handling the peacekeepers! they're helping people! for the first time in a while, yakou comes toe to toe with peacekeepers willingly, to help his new friends. he realizes that he is able to stand up against amaterasu corp, with the help of the others.
but by the time he realizes this, the stage has already been set. the letter from yomi turned his grief into anger and a thirst for vengeance. although yomi gave him the information and opportunity, yakou was ultimately the one who chose to murder the man who murdered his wife.
yakou has already rebuilt his life after his wife's death. the detectives at his agency look up to him and he would do anything for them. it would never be the same as the life he had with his wife but yakou had the chance to turn over a new leaf with a new found family who cares about him.
but instead, yakou plans a murder. he needs to die, over and over, in order to access the man he wants to kill and he accepts it. he needs to trick two kids, who look up to him and who he cares for, into becoming his accomplices to the murder and he accepts it. in the wake of forcing his detectives to witness his murder, he needs leave them in a lab filled with peacekeepers who want to kill them and he accepts it.
and it's not that he doesn't care about his detectives. yuma and halara disobeyed his orders and assaulted several peacekeepers, and he was willing to be arrested himself before throwing his employees under the bus. yuma and fubuki were implicated in terrorism and yakou and the others solve the case for them, then prepare to fight an army of peacekeepers to protect yuma.
for his murder plan, yakou only needs desuhiko and fubuki's powers. but he brings halara and vivia along as well because they would be able to protect the two younger detectives and fight their way out of the lab after yakou dies. he enacts his plan on a day that yuma wasn't around because he won't be able to help fight peacekeepers, so it's better to just keep him out of this mess. he covers up his murder-suicide to protect his detective's feelings, but also because they would be implicated as his accomplices if his plan was revealed.
and yakou probably expected that the other detectives would be fine. if they'd left him behind to die, the other detectives probably would have been able to either fight their way out or hide out in the lab a bit longer and figured out a good plan to escape. if yakou had his way, he would have gotten his revenge and his detectives would have gone home grief-stricken, but unharmed and forever unaware of their roles in his death.
but yakou doesn't account for the fact that the other detectives would try to save his life. yuma doesn't run after the hitman and escape the peacekeepers, he stays behind to beg yomi to help yakou. fubuki uses up all her energy to rewind time to try to prevent yakou's death instead of helping the others escape the lab. halara, vivia, and desuhiko not only have to fight off peacekeepers, but they also have to carry yakou to a hiding spot to give first aid. and instead of calmly planning their next move, everyone is desperate to solve the case so there would be any chance of getting yakou to a hospital as quickly as possible.
one major theme of rain code is that despite tragedies that may have happened in the past, people can work together with those they care about to live a better life in the future. and yakou could have had that. his wife's death should have stayed in the past, and he should have continued to mentor the other detectives, solving mysteries together and enjoying each other's companies.
but yakou couldn't let the past stay in the past. he had every chance to not go through with his murder. he has new people he loves, but he manipulates them and puts them in danger in order to get back at the person who killed the last person he loved. his victory was a pyrrhic one. he got his revenge but in return, he destroyed himself and his detectives' trust in him. he enjoyed his revenge momentarily before dying and leaving his new family, who he used their love and trust for him to his advantage, to pick up the pieces.
yakou furio had lost everything in the past. but in trying to pursue it he destroyed everything he had in the present. that's the tragedy of his character to me.

I HAVE MADE MORE SEVIKA ART!
BEHOLD IT WITH YOUR EYES!!!
Say one word about the ugly curtains and I will do unspeakable things to you sdlkfjsldfjsdlkfjldsfjk.
Close ups and artist commentary beneath the cut!
God, I struggled on this one. I started this piece back in July of this year. It did spend some time sitting while I stared at it in a deep state of ennui, so it's not like I was actively working on it for *counts on fingers* three-ish months.
This is what I get for trying to make a whole fucking scene instead of just drawing a character with no background.
I am pleased with how everything came out, but I still have a lot of frustrations with this piece. A lot of the perspective is off, the floorboards got lost because I noodled with them too much and you can't erase marker, and the rug is just bad sldjfdslkfjldskfjdlskjf. Still, I had fun (mostly) doing it!
A close up of our lady! (The colors got really washed out on my phone, but the warm filter made everything too red, so *shrugs*.) I wanted to stick her in clothes and an environment that was a complete antithesis to her character -soft, feminine, opulent. The baby pink was my first choice, and while I don't regret it, I had second thoughts (after putting the color down, naturally) about picking green instead because of its association with money. I think baby pink, however, was the right choice in the end.
I went with body jewelry like I did for her formal look. However, I stuck with something less opulent this time because I wanted more focus to be on the lingerie and lace. The glove she's wearing was supposed to be sheer -like her stockings-because I thought it was cool, but it didn't translate well on paper, alas.
I was so excited to do her scars, but they got lost/muted in the shading/shadowing under her arm. I tried to use some acrylic paint to boost them up, but they uh... got too boosted sdlkfjdslfkjldskjflskjf.
Arm close up! I hated drawing and detailing this! There's a reason I hid her arm under a cape in the first piece I drew of her!
I didn't want to just draw her "pre-explosion," though, because there's a lot of prosthetic erasure in fandom (in general) already. The highlighted bits were done with metallic gold paint. Also pls appreciate the lil fiddly scenery details I worked very hard on them sdlfkjdslfkjdslfkjdslf.
Materials used: water and alcohol based markers, colored pencils, and acrylic paint for highlights and details.
Lessons learned: spend more time plotting the background before jumping into drawing the character dslfkjdslfkjdslkfj. Also, pick a color palette first.
Tagging @abitohoney and @sevikasleftpussyflap. Also, Professor Flap has requested that I draw something of Sevika spanking a Reader insert. I've never drawn NSFW art, so I don't know if I will, but it did make me think about what y'all would like to see. I can't promise I'll take every suggestion/request, but if you have ideas, feel free to send them my way and I'll see what I can do.

🖤 Excuse me! I would.love to hear more about Albertan Rodney if/when you are so inclined. Xxx
oh boy i am SO inclined buckle up bc i have some THOUGHTS about this!!
okay so i'm from alberta, born and raised, and i have literally been thinking about rodney being from alberta since the first time i watched tracker at like 11 years old. if you're not aware, alberta is a VERY redneck/conservative province, i refer to us as americas 51st state bc so many people here have a lot of Conservative Capitalist America Views. as one of the oil and gas capitals of the world, there is a lot of people who work on the oil rigs (everyone here (that i grew up with) calls them rig pigs, and i can 100% see rodney calling them that) especially in fort macmurray, which is located in the middle of the athabasca oil sands.
and like don't get me wrong there's a lot of great things about alberta but it's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer and imagine you're a genius who's smarter than everyone around you by the time you're like 8 years old and you're just. Stuck There. stuck surrounded by people who think fossil fuels are the end all be all of power technology. surrounded by all these narrow minded people stuck in their ways and incapable of looking forward towards the future. he probably couldn't WAIT to get out of there the second he could, and i have no doubts he did
but i also think he gets, like, weirdly nostalgic for it? alberta is a fucking BEAUTIFUL province it's literally so fucking breathtaking and we have everything. we have mountains and forests and plains and grasslands and badlands, it's so fucking diverse and despite all its problems (so many problems), you can't help but look around sometimes and think "i am damn lucky to live here." i can just imagine rodney going to different planets and just taking a second bc whatever world they stepped onto looks /just like/ that provincial park he went to as a kid. or that picture of a mountain range he saw at school every day for 6 years. or some other vivid memory of where he grew up (it helps that they filmed in BC so it's not that much of a stretch to be like this literally looks like somewhere he's been before)
i also think there's a lot about being albertan that he hated as a kid but as an adult, specifically with his team, he's more inclined to miss. like obviously some things he shared the second he could (maple taffy was the first thing on his requisition list when they reconnected with earth and you cannot tell me otherwise. it's also what him and ronon first bonded over you can't tell me otherwise for that either) but certain things (like going to Edmonton or Calgary for Vacation bc that's where the Things To Do are, or maybe Banff or Jasper if you're feeling Touristy/Outdoorsy) that seemed so terrible for whatever reason as a kid seems... endearing almost? and especially when ronon and teyla start talking about athos or sateda, rodney just feels like he wants to share too, share this part of himself with his team that maybe he didn't always like but. it's part of who he is, it shaped him, and as awful as it was at the time maybe he wouldn't have pushed himself as hard as he did to get to where he is now. he worked and worked and worked to get as far away from that stupid town as possible and he literally went to another galaxy to get away from it and he ran right into the family he didn't think he would ever find (no that's not projection shut up)
wow okay this is getting long so i'll end it here but yeah i have Thoughts. about rodney mckay and how he definitely absolutely 100% grew up in alberta! thanks for the ask i hope this answer satisfies you
