Maybe he just missed it. Maybe they figured he just wouldn’t be interested. He doesn’t mind it, really. He’s never been as much into engineering and other stuff as Leif and Andrias always have. They probably just forgot to tell him.
He still wants to know what the messages say though. Maybe even get one of his own.
Maybe the craftsman who made the first pair of glasses is sick this month.

Andrias’s face back then had been so tired. So overrun with shadow and a steely unforgiveness. He didn’t dare let light enter his eyes as he sent Barrel away- for what, Barrel didn’t even know.
But he had a mission now, and he was going to fulfill it just like Andrias said, regardless of whether Andrias wants him back or not.
You’ve disappointed me.
The sentence rings true as the worm’s giant maw opens above his tiny form.
