It’s has been a year we wanted to go back there, at the top of the Jafferau pass, on the west side of the Italian Alps. We’ve been there in July 2021 but were unfortunately stuck by snow and were not able to drive through the entire pass. On our way back to Paris, after 2 weeks of holidays in the south of France, we decided to drive there again with our mighty and more than adapted Rav4 + a dangerous dog. Had homemade hamburgers and a wonderful night under the storm. Impossible to sleep but who cares when you only have 10 hours of driving back to Paris. To the south! (Day 3)

The night trains to Sicily (all intercity trains to Sicily actually) go on the ferry! Which is more fun in theory than in practice (it involves a lot of manouvering and the train going back and forth for a seemingly infinite time), but still, the idea that you are on a train and then THE TRAIN gets on the ferry is just so good.

(I didn't take ANY pictures of the train on the ferry D: but well this was the ferry upstairs XD)

The train is an hour late and this leaves me with a very short time to shower, change and rest for a bit if i actually want to go to Pozzallo this afternoon. It's very, very hot but somehow it is more manageable that the heat in Viareggio and Rome (I guess lower humidity and wind?) so I decide to try to go.

The train to Pozzallo is the tiniest diesel train <3 old but luckily it has ac! (Except that something happens after the departure and the ac is not working properly and it is SO HOT. And the train is late. And I don't have enough water ;_;) Also they sadly graffited the windows, and I can't really see outside:(

A guy tried to open a window and when he saw they were locked shut he went straight into the *place where the train driver is I have no idea how you would call that in english* and got the tool to open them, then proceded to offer to open every window in the train car yay!

Pozzallo is a nice seaside town, definitely better as a place to visit than Brennero (northernmost station) and Bardonecchia (westernmost). There's a nice, cool-ish breeze and in the shade is almost pleasant, but every time i step outside of the shadows the sun is scorching. I wanted to dip my toes in the water but the beach was full of people and I didn't really want to walk under the sun for so long, so I just wandered around for a bit. (I didn't even take a picture of the sea. WHAT? I usually take several pictures of the sea every time I come near the sea XD)

When I got to the train station, they announced that my train was cancelled for a problem on the line. The next one wouldn't come for another three hours and it was the last one, so I tried to find an alternative by bus (I even considered getting a taxi which would have been... so expensive 😅). I noticed, though, that the Trenitalia app was still tracking the train and didn't say that it was cancelled, so i decided to wait. And MENO MALE, because the train was not cancelled and so actually everything was ok XD

It's the same train from before, same problem with the ac. I have stored so much heat that really the idea of another hour and an half on a scalding fake leather seat and warm wind coming from the windows was kinda killing me. But! In Rosolini I noticed that there was a train leaving from there just ten minutes after mine, and it was a super new one! So i waited till then next station to make sure that it would actually depart, and i changed trains. I am very happy now with the big windows and the ac on :3

I took a bus (a tiny bus! I love tiny buses!) from the station to the old town of Syracuse, which is actually on a small island (isola di Ortigia) connected to the main city by two bridges. The cathedral square was stunning, and so was the view out to sea.

There was generally juat a very nice vibe, and I think I'd like to come back to Syracuse in the future, maybe with someone else (as usual, being alone in the south of Italy feels much lonelier than other places; everything is built on the idea that you do things with friends, family, loved ones, and if you're on your own it doesn't quite work the same.

I was starving so I got a cannolo, but it was kind of the worst cannolo I ever had (hyperbolically): so sweet! The thing I usually like about cannoli is that they are not overly sweet :(

One interesting thing about Syracuse is that people's accent is not as strong as in other parts of Sicily (or at least that's the impression i got from the limited interactions i had). Of course when i overheard people speaking in their dialect I couldn't understand a word, but that's to be expected XD

After the sun set it's not as hot as it was this afternoon but it is A LOT more humid; and it's getting dark pretty rapidly; and I'm very tired. So i guess it's time to go home.

Pensare che il tranquillo torrente che ho seguito per tutta la camminata di ieri abbia, due ore dopo che son andato via, letteralmente mezzo distrutto Bardonecchia mette un po’ ansia.

Cane.

Stamane per l'ennesima volta sono stato svegliato dal cane dei vicini che abbaia in continuazione, un risveglio fastidioso, come sempre non me la prendo col cane, porello, ma con i vicini. A quanto pare non lo fanno entrare e allora lui si mette dietro la porta e abbaia, ma io dico "Non vi da fastidio sentirlo sbraitare in continuazione, oppure siete sordi", nell'impeto del risveglio rumoroso ho pensato di fare colazione e prendere il rullante posizionarlo sul patio e fare il contrappunto al cane ma fff, sicuramente qualcuno avrebbe chiamato la polizia e li avrei spiegato il mio gesto e detto ai pulotti che è una prassi di quasi tutte le mattine. Peccato che la mia compagna sta lavorando fuori e quindi non posso mettere in atto il mio piano percussivo, ma un giorno lo farò 😁

Oggi leggo dell'ennesima esondazione di un fiume, a Bardonecchia, nell'articolo c'è scritto che c'è stata una frana in quota e che i detriti scendendo a valle hanno fatto straripare il fiume proprio nel punto dove c'è un ponte, sicuramente per l'effetto imbuto in quel punto. Mi dispiace naturalmente come per le altre catastrofi che capitano quando si cementifica selvaggiamente senza pensare che potrebbero capitare cose del genere perché la natura non ha freni, ma quando ne capita una ogni tot il rischio vale la candela, come si dice, nel senso che chi cementifica sa benissimo che potrebbe capitare ma si stima che una o due volte in 50/100 anni è un rischio abbordabile. In questo caso non ci sono stati morti, per fortuna, ma quando ci sono codesti individui che si intascano soldoni non hanno i sensi di colpa? Non ho mai sentito nessuno dire "Si purtroppo è stato un errore tagliare gli alberi e restringere il corso del fiume costringendolo tra pareti di cemento e mi assumo le mie responsabilità, ecc ecc", mai, tutti zitti poi gli omertosi siamo noi.

Cambiamo discorso che è meglio, diceva quel puffo occhialuto 😄

Ieri nella mia ricerca mi sono imbattuto nell'ennesimo montaggio/composizione di Bernard Parmegiani di nome Pop Ecletic del '68, in effetti nella prima parte si potrebbe collocare il brano anche ai giorni nostri o in un lasso di tempo tra gli anni 80 e 90, fa molto Kraftwerk ed è molto interessante perché il francese gli inserisce un pò di tutto Mozart compreso, dal Don Giovanni, ve lo posto perché è un bel brano da ascoltare.

La Commissione parlamentare Antimafia ha chiesto gli atti riguardanti le inchieste di Bari, Torino e Palermo. I tre casi riguardano, con vicende differenti, la compravendita di voti elettorali o voti di scambio. Prima è scoppiato il caso Bari, con il Viminale che ha inviato la commissione d’accesso per valutare le possibili infiltrazioni mafiose nel comune. Poi, in ordine di tempo, ha fatto notizia l’inchiesta in Piemonte sulle possibili infiltrazioni della ‘ndrangheta nei cantieri autostradali della Torino-Bardonecchia e nell’Alta velocità: tra gli indagati anche Salvatore Gallo, politico 85enne del Pd, padre dell’ex capogruppo in Regione Raffaele, che si è dimesso. Infine, oggi i carabinieri hanno arrestato l'ex consigliere comunale di Palermo Mimmo Russo. L'esponente di Fratelli d’Italia (ora sospeso dal partito), storico referente dei precari palermitani, è accusato di concorso esterno in associazione mafiosa, voto di scambio politico-mafioso, concorso in estorsione aggravata e concorso in corruzione per atti contrari ai doveri d'ufficio. L'inchiesta è stata coordinata dalla Dda di Palermo guidata dal procuratore Maurizio de Lucia. Era stato uno dei componenti della Commissione, il siciliano Giuseppe Provenzano del Pd, a chiedere un intervento dell'Antimafia sull'inchiesta di Palermo, ricordando che Mimmo Russo è accusato di «essere stato costantemente a disposizione di Cosa nostra». C'est le 13 mai 2022. Personnes seules. Privation de liberté toute la nuit. Des lits. L’ampoule de la pièce ne fonctionnait pas, la pièce était sombre mais chauffée. Après demande, une salade, un petit snack et de l’eau.

C'est le 22 juin 2022. Famille ou groupe humain. Privation de liberté variable. Trois lits pour sept personnes. Couvertures et matelas par terre pour les autres.

C'est le 22 juin 2022. Personne seule. Privation de liberté toute la nuit. Quand il demande s’il peut avoir quelque chose à boire ou à manger, le policier lui dit de la fermer.
