I always thought that Halsin dancing around the topic of romance and love was pretty inconsistent due to writing but after seeing spoiler dialogue of him being captured and turned into a sex slave during his younger days of adventuring I can now realize that it’s literally a trauma response. Like genuinely I didn’t know that before I got spoilers on YouTube but holy shit man.

Someone made a little analysis of Halsin always expressing desire and sexual intimacy with our Tav but never going further into the love aspect because of things unsaid however after seeing the dialogue we now know why he’s hesitant. Piecing together everything, it’s very understandable as to why he would rather take the ‘natural/free’ route instead of being direct because he’s literally traumatized from being chained down in a confining space where his freedom was taken away. Not to say that anything more serious would make him off put however, I believe he would still enjoy the idea of being closer to Tav if anyone were to write a more serious piece about his past.

Halsin does a good job at making himself look collected and put together but he has an abyss full of painful experiences in his past. I legitimately did not know of this fact because no one here talks about it but with how open the dialogue is in the game I think it’s kinda 50/50 if you would ever even see it in the first place.

I would enjoy someone else’s analysis about this because I really think Halsin’s a good character that deserves to be seen past ‘Daddy Oak Bear’.

Why do I see so many articles referring to Halsin as a half-orc? He’s not a half-orc, he just speculated that maybe there was one in previous generations, and given that he’s like 350 it was probably a while ago.

Not that I care whether he’s half orc or 3/4 or whatever I’m just bothered when people fail to pay attention to what’s said explicitly in-game and then throw that info out there for the world.

Hello hello! Your writing of Halsin's letter inspired me because it makes total sense that he would like to write to Tav.

What if since he's a self-proclaimed old man (being 350 y/o and all) - he's old fashioned - and since Tav makes him feel like a "lovelorn 90-year-old" it makes him write a love letter to them 'like the young folk do'? (Tbh, it's got me giggling and kicking my feet lol.)
