The Bakers Son - 1
Part One <- you’re here
Part Two
Part Three
———
Adrien woke up extremely early to help his father roll out the fresh dough they were going to use for the rest of the morning rush.
His mother popped in. “Hey you, why up so early?”
He turned to her. “The dough’s not going to roll out itself!“
He smiled and side hugged his mother, trying to not get flour in her hair.
“ I couldn’t really sleep so I thought I’d be more productive,“ he explained, his golden locks falling into his face as he kneaded the bread dough.
His mother gave him a warm smile as she moved the hair from his face. “Such a sweet boy.”
—————
Marinette was awake early as well, but she was up for a meeting that her father had dragged her to.
She rubbed her eyes as her father went on and on about who was going to be at the meeting, beginning to doze off a bit.
“Marinette!” her father chastised, looking over at a stressed and sleepy Marinette. “I told you to doodle on your own time, you look exhausted, did you stay up again?!”
She looked down. “I’m sorry father, it won’t happen again.”
Her father crossed his arms. She sighed and looked out the car window as they headed to yet another meeting to discuss the photo shoot that was set to take place tomorrow.
They aren’t doodles, she thought to herself.
Her father never once cared to indulge into anything she cared about. He had planned out her entire life. From what extracurricular activities she would take to what she ate and wore. Luckily she had convinced him a year ago to let her go to public school so she could “bring more exposure to her father’s designs.“ But in all reality she just wanted to make friends. And she had, thankfully.
————
“Adrien you’re going to be late!” His father called up to him as he changed his clothes, jeans, simple white T-shirt with a blackish-navy blue sweater.
He hung his baking apron on the rack as he walked past his father. “Sorry Dad!”
He gave his mother a kiss and took the cookies from her hands that she had made for his class.
“Thanks Ma!” he called out, heading out the door. “See you after school!”
He waved at his father as he ran across the street to school.
“ Adrien!” His friend Nino waved with his free hand, the other holding his girlfriend Alya’s hand.
“Hey guys!” he answered back, running over to them.
He opened the cookie box. “Cookie?” he smiled, leaning the box towards his friends.
Right as they were going to grab a cookie he got shoved by a small, blond figure.
“Ew, what’s that smell??”
Adrien rolled his eyes. “Seriously Chloe?”
He frowned looking down at some of the cookies that had spilled. “I think it’s yeast maybe, or just desperation??”
Kim walked in. “Gross!” he and his sister stated in unison as they looked at Adrien. They laughed, walking away and back towards the school.
“Don’t pay them any attention Adrien...“
Alya helped him pick up the floor cookies and throw them to the grass for the birds, “ ...we only have two more years to deal with them.“
He smiled and shrugged. “It’ll be okay. Maybe they’ll finally turn over a new leaf this year.“
Nino helped him off the floor. “Yeah, and maybe so will you dude! Look who just got here,“ Nino said, pointing over at the sleek gray car that just pulled up. The only person besides Chloe and Kim who rode in those cars, was Marinette.
Adrien blushed at the thought. “We’re just friends Nino. Besides, she doesn’t like me that way,“ he said, rubbing the back of his neck as he watched Marinette step out of the car.
“Whatever you say dude,” Nino said skeptically, raising an eyebrow. ”But you ar-“
Adrien shoved his best friend’s shoulder. “I am her friend and she is mine, that’s all.”
He and Nino turned heading into the school for class. Alya stayed behind to walk in with her best friend.
“Hey girl!” Alya called out excitedly, linking her arm with Marinette’s.
“Hey,” Marinette rasped, practically whispering from being so tired. She softly leaned into her best friend.
“You look exhausted, Dad woke you up early again?”
She sighed and nodded her head. “Early morning meeting for my next few photo shoots,” she said, rolling her eyes. Marinette was not a morning person. Let alone a meeting person.
“Well I’ll cheer you up! Me, you, and the rest of the gang can head to the back to school fair this afternoon! Nino is going to be the DJ so there’s going to be a lot of dancing. Also, I know there’s a certain outfit in that closet of yours dying to be worn!”
Marinette blushed as her friend went on about her dress she had designed. Alya was really the only one who knew Marinette created her own clothing, her father didn’t even realize.
“I’ll have to ask my father, but I’m sure he’ll say yes. You know he won’t let me wear my designs, for him any chance he can get for his clothing line to be shown off is good. Also where did you get that cookie?“ She took a small bite from her friend’s cookie.
“Girl who else would I have gotten it from?” Alya bumped her shoulder against her friend’s.
Mari blushed, tucking a stray strand from her ponytail as they walked into the classroom.
They both went wide-eyed when they walked into a huge conflict between Kim and Adrien.
“What’s your problem Kim? I’ve always sat in the front row with Nino!”
“Not anymore. I have to sit there since Marinette, my girlfriend, is sitting in the seat behind!!” Kim shouted, attempting to tower over Adrien.
“Excuse me?” Marinette chirped from the doorway. Both boys snapped their heads in the direction of her voice.
“ I am no one’s girlfriend, thank you.“
She walked over to her seat, setting her books down.
Adrien smirked a bit at Marinette’s rebuttal… until he looked back at an angry Kim. His smirk deflated as Kim inched closer to him. Though Adrien was taller and had some muscle from working at the bakery and always helping his parents move the heavy items, Kim was a sport guy at heart and could and would crush Adrien in a snap.
“Alright class, take your seats! “ Madame Bustier announced, walking in cheerfully as always.
Thank god for her or else Adrien would be nothing but chalk dust right about now.
He sat down in his front row seat next to Nino, fist bumping his pal. Kim growled and made his way back to the seat diagonal from Adrien’s, just a row higher.
“You’ll pay for that,” he murmured in a low tone, glaring at Adrien.
——
Next thing everyone knew an akuma victim ran into the doorway, grazing a chair. He threw the offending chair at the window. “I AM ANTI-WEAK!“ he shouted, showing off his overly large muscles.
“Where’s Chloe!?!” The akuma victim shouted, walking to the front of the room.
Adrien crouched under his table along with everyone else. “Kinda surprised it wasn’t Kim, I thought he wanted to crush me.”
He looked over at a shrugging Nino. “I guess Chloe went on a rampage too this morning.” He sighed looking back at Alya as she rummaged through her bag for her phone
“Ahh daddy there’s a villain in our class! Call the police!!” Chloe hid behind her chair as she talked on the phone with her father, the mayor.
The akuma victim laughed and reached over, grabbing the screaming Chloe. “Now who’s the wimp, hmm??”
Adrien could piece two and two together. She’d probably called one of the students a wimp this morning while everyone was walking to school with all their belongings and heavy textbooks.
Madame Bustier called out, “Everyone, run home immediately!”
They all went running while Adrien took his time grabbing his stuff.
“Ahh I have to get this for my blog!!” Alya screamed, pulling out her phone and beginning to run out of the room. “I’ll catch up with you this afternoon Mari!!”
Marinette giggled at her friend as she ran off. Adrien smiled at her small laugh. He could listen to her laugh all day. He knew Marinette wasn’t always the bright and bubbly girl she could be due to her controlling father. He was snapped out of his thoughts by his teacher speaking.
“Mr. Agreste, you need to hurry home!”
“I will Madame, I live just across the street,” he explained. He smiled at his teacher as she left to go warn other class rooms.
Adrien checked the room for anyone else. Once the coast was clear, he crouched down.
“I saw that.“
“Saw what?” He raised an eyebrow at his Kwami.
“Your smile at Ponytail laughing. What’s that about?” The small black cat said as he looked up at his chosen, taking one last bite of his stash of cheese Adrien kept in his school bag.
“We don’t have time for this Plagg! Claws out!”
————
Adrien had only been Chat Noir for a year, but it was the best feeling in the world to be able to help save Paris. It was exhilarating, exciting, a different change of pace that was brought into his world. While he loved to help his family in the bakery, he also loved the idea of being able to help the city he got to call home. He was pulled away from his thoughts by a lovely girl with dark hair put up in pigtails.
“Beat ya there Chaton!”
He smiled looking over at his partner. She was beautiful. He’d fallen for her the day they became partners.
“I pawsitivly doubt it m’lady!”
He reached for his baton as she threw her yo-yo, hoping to gain distance on her pun-filled partner.
————
After a lot of hesitation I’m posting it! I haven’t written an AU in a longggg time, like since quotev was a thing. My main idea for this AU is that basically Adrien and marinette are switched. But in my head Gabriel is marinettes dad and Tom is adriens dad but with his mom idk exactly how to explain but adrien is basically the bakers son and marinette is the fashion designers daughter. But she’s still the clumsy one while he is still the daring and kind one. Also I made Chloe and Kim be twins..? Weird I know but let’s just see how it works out yeah? 😆
Anyhow my first mlb fic! Please let me know what you think!
