A very good afternoon to the (presumably same) guest reader who has been steadily working their way through my AO3 backcatalogue and leaving a trail of kudos in their wake, you're a delight

People say The Room is the worst movie ever made but those people are not bad movie connoisseurs. I've seen $0 budget films where the audio was accidentally not recorded on set so they added narration instead. I've seen porn moans dubbed in instead of screams. I've seen the backcatalogue of things that are wrong with Birdemic.

The Room is definitely not the worst film ever made. I don't think it even cracks the top ten. It is, however, the BEST horrible film ever made. Birdemic is fun but hard to sit all the way through. Plan 9 has some really slow parts. Manos: The Hand of Fate made me fall asleep. I watched The Beast of Yucca Flats on 2x speed.

But The Room? Chef's kiss. Every second of that film is god-awful perfection. It's like someone vomited on the sidewalk and realized it formed the shape of a heart and found themselves gazing at it in amazement. People call it the "Citizen Kane of bad movies" for a reason. It's the best bad movie ever and it's absolutely required watching for anyone who loves shoving their face in the garbage.

There is someone reading and kudoesing all my SGA fic--but commented on one of my D&D fics without kudoesing. I'm delighted you are having fun reading my backcatalogue bud! Here's hoping you don't notice all the mistakes.

Currently working on: Oh god, the list is infinite. Finishing Agents of Ragnarok hopefully before Season 3/to assuage my guilt for leaving it hanging for a year+. A weird Cat Dream/Cat Loki one-shot that I swear wasn't meant to get this weird. An original First Contact story. And a 100% original story about people gaining immortality by feeding deeply off of dreams/general dream shenanigans which sure isn't Sandman fanfic.

i've been scheduled at my job 8am to 5pm up until next saturday. if you know me irl, i am NOT!!!! a morning person. and i've been having to get out of bed at 7am sharp to get dressed and ready for work. tomorrow will be my third day there and ya know what? fuck it, i'm GONNA get out of bed at 7. 6:55, 6:50 even.

this morning, i got low-key deja vu walking into the back and after thinking about it, it's cause it reminded me of waking up in a hotel at 7-something in the morning and going down to the lobby for breakfast and smelling the coffee. i really love that vibe and miss it a lot - i haven't been able to really travel and mentally it really fucks me up. but getting that vibe walking into work was a nice surprise and now something i'll look forward to for the next week.

to quote a twitter post, i don't dream of labor. i really personally don't. everyone tells me i need to have a certificate or degree that i can use for a good, stable career, or else i'll work at walmart for the rest of my life. or i'll have to live with my mom for four more years while i get my shit together. (i'd rather come out to her and deal with her reactions instead of living with her longer than i have to.)

honestly? it's all in one ear and out the other. i genuinely don't care. what i want most for myself is to move somewhere nice, have my home decorated and done up in my weird tastes, be free to look at men's stuff without fear of judgement, with my backcatalogue spanning many many years and genres.

i don't have the courage to tell my mom that i don't wanna be a manager, study art studio, move to aiken (or anywhere with her, really) ... whatever expectations she has for me would be thoroughly obliterated. she'd have a complete shitfit and i'm not really ready for that currently.

she doesn't know i've been writing songs and albums since 2019, or that i have a whole hour-long-total album of music i made in garageband back in middle school. (reason being that i haven't told her in the first place, but anyways)

and don't get me wrong, i'll make up a backup plan, but music will always be my #1 goal. i mean, look at josh taylor. if he formed the hara cuz he didn't want a 9 to 5 career, and has gotten this far, i can make it in the music industry too.

hey, just had a question abt the podfic patreon issue you talked about a while ago. was that person's podfic embedded on ao3? or was it a link you had to follow to the audio? we have another podficcer who doesn't normally post his stuff on ao3 thinking about crossposting his backcatalogue but all his podfics include an outro that mentions his patreon. trying to convince him that it'll end just like the situation you talked about, but he's arguing that if he just includes a link that you follow off site, it'll be similar to how ppl get around the "no advertising" clause by linking to their personal sites/blogs w/ their commission/kofi links in the sidebars. i'm positive that ao3 won't consider that a similar situation, but just wanted to see if this situation is similar to what you saw.

Yeah, I agree with you. I doubt AO3 would consider that a work around. It's not like ANY of us host on ao3 directly, whether we embed or just link to the hosting site. The one I ran across was, if I recall correctly, hosted on soundcloud and linked to, so it is basically the same situation as your potential cross poster. The distinction is, I believe, when the advertisement is embedded in the world itself, it still counts as a policy violation. When in doubt, though, he could always reach out to support and get a confirmation either way.
