if your ship has never said anything unbelievably suggestive to each other that the mainstream audience somehow can ignore like it didnt happen or sound like that then are they even your ship?
When Robin was first introduced, she had been working with Crocodile in Alabasta for the past several years, so I could understand her skin tone being a little lighter than it used to be, but not this bad.
It's extremely fucked up. I would understand the "it was an animation error" argument if it wasn't because it happens with all the characters (not only Robin) and they're whiter and whiter each episode (even the characters that should be black).
If we follow irl reasoning as you say, then all of them should be tanned because they're pirates. They're constantly under the sun. But no, they go backward and instead, they lack melanin every episode. It was already bad, but Egghead fucked up big time.
And don't get me started on Usopp because people could use that excuse on any other character, but Usopp?? I truly, really, don't think it takes too much thinking to get that he's black and Toei just keeps making him paler than Sanji. It's ridiculous and racist and people who ignore it or say it's been talked "too much" (because people say it and apparently there's a limit for them as to how much you can complain about racism) always get on my nerves.
What Toei is doing is just disgusting and people defending it are always the ones who refuse to see any mistakes in the things they like. News flash! You can like something and admit it has mistakes.
so how come i always liked acesan even after i realized they barely interacted when i read the manga, and now i’m watching alabasta and ace is just?? there???
honestly obsessed with the ace filler + simple ace presence and if he’s gonna have a yaoi moment with sanji in the process you know what so be it.
poor delia tbh. she’s such a pleasant and interesting character but the only three topics people usually bring up with her is “ha ha shes fucking professor oak”, “ha ha shes fucking mr mime”, or “she fucking hates her son and wants him to leave forever” and like theyre all jokes but people say them so much that some genuinely believe theres a level of canon there
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
He is not a showy man. You will not receive great declarations of love from Alhaitham. He understands them perfectly - linguistics are his area of expertise - but he can't help but find all of the ostentation distasteful. He'd rather be plain and simple; tell you he thinks you are greatly pleasing to the eye. Tell you that he's fond of you. He could, if he wanted to - but there is no reason for him to mince words. He also doesn't see the point in dithering; Alhaitham simply takes action. So when he wants to hold you (holding you feels nice; you feel right in his arms), he simply grabs you and puts you down into his lap. When he wants you near him, he simply pushes you down to the side of his chair and rests his hand on your head whilst he reads. His affection could best be described as intense but focussed; he won't spoil you, but you will know how he feels about you from the moment he realises it. There is no point to him in beating about the bush.
Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?
Alhaitham understands that this is not a usual arrangement, but he also understands that he provides for you - a far better life than one you may have had. He has money, he has power, he has knowledge - he knows he is not bad to look at. He gives you a roof over your head and things for enrichment and nice things to wear, things you ask for (within reason; he will not spoil you). These are all things that indebt you to him. This ought to be equivalent exchange.
So you will learn that he expects things in return. This is the nature of how the world works. You will learn, too, that with his strength . . . it is far better if you go along with the things he makes you do rather than suffer punishment for it.
Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?
Alhaitham does not believe you have any reason to leave his home; not when he provides for you so well, not when there is nothing out there you need. You have access to all of the things he deems necessary for you to thrive; there is nothing else to ask for. And as such, he has very few people to be jealous of. You soon learn not to mention your former life - Alhaitham doesn't exactly get angry about it, but he tenses up like a cat and pointedly ignores the foolish things you say. It's far better to not feel like an idiot in his presence. In fact, the only person he regularly gets jealous of is Kaveh. Who is home more often than him. Who seems to find it greatly amusing to toy with you, and make you like him more than Alhaitham. Who often ruins all of Alhaitham's carefully laid schedules and plans for you. Alhaitham chooses to use his anger at all of this to rile up Kaveh even more - and, perhaps, to make sure that you know it's more than alright if you're noisy during any nighttime activities. Kaveh's sleep is unimportant, after all.
As of tonight we're starting to get Gremlin into Digimon, because he's been getting very into Bakugan lately and the cartoon for that one annoys the shit out of us. Not that it's an effort, I just had to tell him the premise and then put on the first episode and he was immediately hooked. So am I, honestly, I've never watched this show before.
i love reading things set in countries that i'm knowledgeable and/or have been to because i can point out really minor errors in fanfiction. i think the average american does not know that in england (and apparently some of asia! which i only just found out) there are switches on power outlets so you can just turn it off instead of unplugging it. like 9 times out of 10 that won't come up but on the off chance it does i'm like ohoho. this clown has never been to england...! my favorite part though is watching americans (specifically americans because i swear to god people who speak english as a second language and/or are from any other country have some idea of what it's like to have an accent / personally know people who have accents? idk) try to write british accents like it is REALLY funny. i literally only lived their for five years and i never picked up a full accent myself (certain words and tones i did but they're mostly gone after living in the states again for a few years) but between living there and having a ridiculous amount of family there & visiting them often (like once a year if im lucky) i like KNOW what british accents sound like. i think some americans genuinely dont even know theres more than one or two english accents i think some people think there's like posh english and chav english and nothing else. maybe scottish accent gets thrown in there if they remember the uk is not in fact just england. i would bet real money they've never heard a welsh accent. anyway my point is it's really funny watching people who don't know as much as i do write this stuff. like i see it and i understand how doctors read this and go Oh that is so medically inaccurate. i get them now. anyway i dont remember what my point here was but please know if you are attempting to write a british accent. reddit and youtube are your best friends if you don't have a british friend you can ask and also rest assured even if you do ONE google search. it will not be the worst attempt ive seen guaranteed
The way 9 year old Soph had intense Winx Club lore discussions during recess because the Nick dub changed a bunch of stuff and skipped the whole charmix arc in its entirety and rushed all of season 2 for no reason.
I, to this day, don’t understand why they felt the need to call the Magic Winx (or just Winx) base transformation Charmix in the Nick dub when in the original versions (Italian and dubs) Charmix was always a separate power on its own.
