अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस को और ऐतिहासिक बनाने के लिए रणथंभौर की बाघिन टी—111 के दो वर्ष के हो चुके तीन शावकों (दो बाघ एवं एक बाघिन) का नामकरण ‘चिंरजीवी’ ‘चिरायु’ एवं ‘अवनी’ किया गया है। 2010 में कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में स्वर्ण पदक विजेता श्रीमती कृष्णा पूनिया के नाम पर बाघिन टी-17 का नामकरण कृष्णा किया गया था। इसी तरह अब पैरालंपिक पदक विजेता Avani Lekhara के नाम पर शावक का नाम अवनी होगा।

जब देश में बाघ विलुप्ति के कगार पर पहुंच गए थे तब तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी ने अप्रेल, 1973 में 'प्रोजेक्ट टाइगर' की शुरूआत की जिससे देश में बाघों की संख्या में अभूतपूर्व वृद्धि हुई है। पिछले एक माह में राजस्थान के रणथंभौर में छह शावकों ने जन्म लिया है। राजस्थान सरकार प्रदेश के वनों और वन्यजीवों को संरक्षित करने के लिए प्रतिबद्धता के साथ काम कर रही है।

AL AIN (UAE): Double Paralympic medallist Singhraj Adhana secured a quota for India at the 2024 Paris Paralympics after signing off at the fourth place in the P1 - men's 10m Air Pistol SH1 event at the Para Shooting World Championships on Wednesday. The 40-year-old Indian, who won a silver and a bronze at Tokyo Paralympics last year, was in title contention as he led for a major part of the event until a score of seven spoiled his medal chances. While he finished fourth, Korea's Jo Jengdu clinched the gold with a score of 235.7 followed by Poland's Sowinski Szymon (233.1) and Ibragimov Server (213.3). Singhraj was part of the Indian shooting team -- also comprising Manish Narwal and Nihal Singh -- which claimed its second gold medal in the ongoing Championships in the team event of the P1- Men's 10m Air Pistol SH1. The Indian team aggregated a total score of 1704-34x, riding on Paralympic champion Narwal's 575-17x score that put him in second place in the rankings for the finals. The Indian team was followed by Korea (1697-39x) and Turkey (1674-32x). India coach JP Nautiyal said: "The team has done very well, scoring 1704 in Air Pistol is great. I am very happy that we started with a quota from Singhraj at the Worlds." Earlier, Indian pistol shooters, led by Rahul Jakhar, won the team gold in P3- Mixed 25m Pistol SH1. Sports News Trailblazing shooter Avani Lekhara on Friday became the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals by claiming the 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 bronze to add to an unprecedented gold she had won earlier in the ongoing Games here.

The 19-year-old Lekhara qualified second for the event with a score of 1176, including 51 inner 10s.
