The Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings.com are Thankful!
A big thank you to Atlanta and the team at Atlanta Artistic Weddings!
Since it is close to Thanksgiving, I wanted to write a blog on being thankful.  I was looking at our instagram page and I noticed that we are up to 1,000 posts!
I am so thankful to Heather who is in charge of social media and is editor of the website.  She is the one that writes all those posts on Instagram.  I have gotten many compliments on her posts.  It was Heather’s idea to have Fun Fact Friday!  I look forward to her Friday posts.  I have shot 100s of weddings but I still learn something every Friday!  She shares insights about weddings and historical background on many wedding traditions.  You feel smarter after checking out her Friday posts.
She is also one of my favorite people to bounce ideas off of.   She is a very smart, caring and  sensitive person who gives me insight that I never thought of.  I need Heather’s keen perspective when I am trying to write a blog or choosing marketing photos.  She gives me a woman's perspective which I so sorely need!
If you have been noticing the blog over the last year or so they are so much better.  That is once again because of Heather.  I can honestly say she has made me a better writer and helped me get my ideas across in the blog section of our site.  Before Heather started editing the blog you would have thought a 12 year old was writing the blog with an old Crayon.  The blog is more concise and thought out.  I feel so much better after she has edited my writing.  You always need a second set of eyes when you are writing.  Not that I am one of them but some of the best writers in the world say that their editor makes them better writers.
Heather has been a God send to the Atlanta wedding photographers at AtlantaArtsiticWeddings.com.  She has been a cheerleader to the photographers and Lizzie our photo editor/designer.  When I look at the improvements in our website and our social media it is because of our hero Heather.  Thank you Heather for your wedding insights and help!
I also would like to thank another person behind the scenes, Lizzie.  I have been working with Lizzie for about 6 years now.  We met at work and have become like family.  She is one of the smartest people I know.  She is a very talented designer.  I was getting overwhelmed with editing all the weddings and asked her for help.  She stepped right on up and was awesome!  If you are greatful that you get your wedding photos so quickly you can thank Lizzie!
When you are going through a wedding it is nice to have someone else look at the photos.  When Lizzie is editing she is bringing a female’s perspective and fresh eye to the editing process.   She is a great example of someone who is always striving to be better and doing her best to bring you the photos you will cherish for a lifetime.  People like her make me a better photographer too!
Speaking of making me a better photographer, that is where Sarah comes in.  About 7 years ago I received an email from a photographer just out of school and she wanted to shoot weddings.  That email was from Sarah.  I rarely shot with a second wedding photographer when she contacted me.  I thought let's give it a try and see what happens.  It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Sarah is a very talented photographer that brings so much to the table when I am working with her.  She has such a keen eye and subtle way of shooting.  While I am like a game show host pumping up the wedding party she is like a bride whisperer who captures those quiet and tender moments that make up the day.  When I am shooting the formal shots Sarah is silently shooting from the side and always gets the better shot!
I am so grateful to Sarah. When looking at Sarah’s photos it reminds me to slow down and listen.  To be present on the wedding day and pay attention to the details.  She has been beside me during some of my wildest weddings.   She has taught me so much.  I have even switched camera brands because of her!  Thank you Sarah for teaching me so much and showing me a different way of looking at wedding photography and life.
There is one more person I would like to thank and that is Tara!  Tara took some of my photography classes at Emory Continuing Education.  She was the most talented photographer in the class.
I have shot over 50 weddings with Tara now.  She has been a real trooper and has been with me at some of the most emotional weddings that I have ever shot.  She has a great eye at finding locations to shoot and being there when the going gets rough.  We have literally shot in the rain together and I did not hear her complain one time.  She knows how to get the shot when you need it most.  She is a superstar! I love shooting with Tara and do not know what I would do without her!  Thank you so much for all you do Tara!
I am so blessed to be part of such a talented team! Each person has a different strong point and together we make up a team of diverse talents that make each one of us better.
Thanks for checking out this Atlanta wedding photographers blog! I hope you enjoyed the read and that it inspired you with some new ideas. Make sure you keep coming back to our blog to see what the Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings are up to! If you’d like to contact me go to the contact page and drop me a line at https://www.atlantaartisticweddings.com/contact-atlanta-wedding-photographer. I would love to hear from you!

Atlanta's Beautiful Piedmont Park Great for Weddings and Engagement Sessions
As an Atlanta wedding photographer I get to do a lot of engagement sessions all around Atlanta.  One place that I keep coming back to is Piedmont Park.   It is the crown jewel of Atlanta parks in the heart of the city offering so many great photo locations.
Piedmont Park originally was all forest north of the city of Atlanta, and it was purchased in 1834 by Sam and Sarah Walker, one original settlers in this area for 450 dollars.  The Walkers built a cabin on what is now the Active Oval and turned the rest into farmland.  In 1857 their son Ben Walker purchased the farm from his parents and settled in a log cabin located where the Piedmont Driving Club is now.  Then in 1887 the area began hosting expositions and fairs, such as the Piedmont Exposition of 1887 and the Cotton States and International Exposition of 1895. Also in 1895 the lake was made in the center of the park.  You can still walk around the park and see the stone balustrades that held steps leading to the exposition hall built for the 1895 Cotton States and International Exposition. In June of 1904 the City of Atlanta purchased Piedmont Park and extended its city limits north to include the park acreage, as well as several developing neighborhoods between West Peachtree Street and North Highland Avenue.
In 1912 the famous landscape architects the Olmsted brothers transformed the decaying fairground into the park we know today.  The City of Atlanta financed the development and some of the features we see today came in to focus.  The tennis courts were added on top of the 1895 Manufactures Building. The Olmsteads also added the stone bath houses which are the park bathrooms we see today as well as the Park Drive Bridge which provided residents of the developing neighborhoods east of the park more convenient access.  These historic features are what make the park so unique and such a wonderful backdrop for photos.
Now you might be wondering why I went into so much of the history of Piedmont Park.  Well the answer is that all these features from the past make for such wonderful photo opportunities for an Atlanta wedding photographer because they make great backdrops and showcase Atlanta.  Let us go through a few of them.
Let’s start at the parking deck of Piedmont Park. The first place you see from there is the Magnolia Room where I have done a few weddings.  It is a small structure that was originally used as a rest house for the people visiting the park. The Magnolia Room is an intimate wedding venue that has some of the best catering in the city.
Then as you walk you’ll see the stone steps that seem to lead to nowhere. These steps have been used many times as a backdrop for engagement photos. Today, they lead up awkwardly to the tennis court’s fence.   But they are the original steps that were built to go into the exposition hall.
As you walk north you'll find one of the most photographed places in the park: the soccer field.  The soccer field was originally used as a horse park for the expositions. You can still see the original oval around the park and the original steps that lead to that exposition area. Those walls and steps now are used just about every day as the base for one of the best places to capture the Atlanta skyline.
As you walk around to the western part of the park you'll come to the Greystone building which was home to the exposition’s exhibit centers.  Now it is the headquarters of the Aquatic Center and Pool’s Clubhouse.  You can tell they are part of the historic property by the construction, which uses large granite stones.
Next, you'll come around to the 12th Street gate which is the entrance that lines up with the Dockside Building and the Clara Meer Dock.  The Dockside Building and gate are part of the original construction from when the exposition was held in the 1800’s.
As you walk around to the east you'll find Oak Hill where you have another view of the Atlanta skyline.  It was originally the location of the golf course, which was one of Atlanta’s first golf courses.  It was also used as a field for exhibits during the expositions.
As you walk around to the west side of the park you'll arrive at  the dog park and the bridge that connects the park to Monroe Drive.  This was the historic bridge that connected the park to the original neighborhoods on that side of the park.
Thanks for reading this blog!  Make sure you keep coming back to our blog to see what the Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings are up to! Finally Having the Wedding They Wanted!
This weeks wedding is about a couple who, like a lot of couples, had to put off their wedding plans due to Covid-19. Hayden and Kaitlyn got engaged almost 2 years ago and, after rescheduling twice, they finally got to have the wedding they always wanted with their friends and family.
Now let’s go back a few years. They dated and fell in love and, after a while, they took a romantic European vacation. While looking into the sea from the high cliffs of Ireland, Hayden got down on one knee and proposed to Kaitlyn.
They came back home and shared their good news with family and friends, then started to plan their wedding. They hired vendors, chose a venue, and everything. Well no one plans on a pandemic and that is what came next. They had to postpone the wedding twice until it was safe to gather, but the clouds of Covid finally broke and people felt safe to gather again.
The big day finally came and the wedding took place at the historic wedding venue Naylor Hall. Naylor is a famous historic mansion located in downtown Roswell. The ladies got there first and got ready, then the guys arrived. When everyone was dressed and ready it was time to do the first look! You could tell they were thinking “finally!”.
They had a beautiful, intimate ceremony on the front lawn and Naylor made a grand backdrop for such a special day. Once the ceremony was over they did their first dance on the front porch. After the first dance, it was an easy transition to the cocktail hour on the front lawn. It was a beautiful evening for enjoying a beverage outside.
After drinks, everyone went into the main house to enjoy a wonderful meal, and guests got to learn more about the couple through heartfelt toasts from friends and families. While everyone was dancing, I took the couple outside at the blue hour for a 3-minute photo shoot.
All good things must come to an end, and the couple eventually got ready to make their exit. The guests gathered on the front porch to cheer and see the couple off into their next chapter. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day!
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog. I hope you keep coming back to see all the fun weddings we are honored to shoot. It is an Honor Being an Atlanta Wedding Photographer
If you have been following my blog, you have noticed how many times that I say “it is an honor to be an Atlanta wedding photographer”. That’s because it is completely true. I love photography, especially wedding photography, and I always consider it an honor to photograph every wedding. This is especially true for the ceremony I photographed last weekend.
A few years ago, I photographed the older sister of this bride at her wedding! Yes, I got to photograph the weddings of both sisters! What an honor it is to be a small part of both of their big days. It was so good to see both of them again. It was like seeing some old friends! They are some of the most thoughtful people I have ever met, and they are so fun! They surround themselves with a group of kind, eclectic, and diverse individuals who are full of love!
This week was the younger sister’s wedding, and it was beautiful! The couple got married at the Monaluce Winery and Restaurant. The winery is located in Dahlonega, Georgia in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains, which is full of rolling hills and vineyards. It is absolutely beautiful, as you can see from the photos. Everywhere you look is like a scene from a movie. There are many cottages around the area with beautiful vistas. The bride arrived with her party at the venue in the early afternoon and this is where the couple got ready for the ceremony.
The wedding was held underneath a great oak near the top of the vineyard. It made for a gorgeous backdrop to a very special wedding. It brought shade for the wedding party and guests, while also being a symbol of strength, longevity and life.
The groom did not see his beautiful bride until she was walking down the aisle. When he turned around and saw her for the first time, he was overcome with emotion. When I looked at them, I could tell they were so in love and cared for each other.
After the wedding, the party began with dinner and dancing! The wedding cake was a model of the vineyard, which looked very cool. The groom was of Persian decent, so there was a knife dance before they cut the cake. It was a lot of fun with the mix of cultures and lively atmosphere!
After much dancing, the couple exited for their honeymoon, surrounded by sparklers and well wishes from their friends and family. Everything was truly beautiful and I had a great time. What an honor it was shoot the two sisters at each wedding! I am truly blessed to be an Atlanta wedding photographer!
Thanks so much for visiting! Please feel free to contact me on my contact page at https://www.atlantaartisticweddings.com/contact-atlanta-wedding-photographer. I’d love to hear from you!

Giving Thanks to the Many Blessings That Were Bestowed Upon Us
We all know 2020 is going to go down in the history books as one to remember, especially if you are a wedding photographer in Atlanta. Needless to say, the pandemic caused havoc on businesses and social lives alike. I do not know one person that has not been personally affected by this. However, we should remember that while the year has had its share of tragedies, there were many triumphs, too! Let us be thankful for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us.
I first want to thank our many couples and their families for their patience and graciousness during such a stressful time. We have had many micro weddings and many more weddings that were rescheduled. We have also seen the efforts of our couples to prioritize the safety of their guests and family during this uncertain time. They have gone the extra mile and have been coming up with unique work arounds to bring people together. Atlanta couples have still managed to create special moments on their wedding day, by using Zoom to video chat with guests from all around the world who can not travel right now. In this tough time it means so much to couples and their loved ones to still be able to share this momentous occasion together We are so blessed with such wonderful clients!
I also want to thank the team at Atlanta Artistic Weddings. I have been blessed with some of the most talented and hard working individuals I have had the honor to work with. They have selflessly shared their creative talents to come together as one of the best Atlanta wedding photographer teams in the business! I am going to thank each one of them and give you a bit of a behind the scenes look at what makes them so awesome!
Let’s start with Sarah. She is one of the best photographers I have ever had the honor to work with. Not only is she a talented photographer, but she has the biblical patience of Job. I have no idea how many weddings we have shot together, but it is more than some wedding photographers have shot in their entire career. She is a true professional who puts the client first and is sensitive to wedding day needs. She brings her own creative style and female perspective to her photos, which is so important for a major event like a wedding. I am so blessed Sarah has stuck with me through so many weddings and been so flexible. We have gone through so much together! Thank you Sarah for all you do and for making me a better photographer.
We are also blessed to have Tara on our team. Tara started out as a student in my photography class at Emory. She was by far one of the most talented photographers in the class. She was a hard worker and had a passion for photography. I have brought her in to some of my hardest weddings and she has been a true pro! We shot one of my first gay weddings together, and we’ve dealt with snow, rain and even wild snakes! This year we shot one of the most meaningful weddings I have had the honor to shoot. We had one bride who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and one of her last wishes was to get married. Tara shot some of the most tender and candid getting ready shots that day and the family got so emotional when they saw them. You could tell those photos meant a lot to them. Weddings like that truly remind me why we do this. Thank you Tara for being there for some of the tough ones and bringing a contagious positive attitude.
I also want to thank Lizzie. She is the reason you get your edited photos so quickly! She is one of the smartest most talented woman I have ever meet. To say she is a hard worker is an understatement. Lizzie is the one who ties all the photographs together to tell the story of your wedding day. She is the one you thank when you get your beautifully designed wedding album. Lizzie brings a much needed fresh perspective to the editing process and wedding day that we can overlook sometimes because we are too close. She also brings a sensitivity to cultures and has even has worked in the roll of interpreter at a wedding! She is also has become more than just somebody we work with but she has become part our family!
Now there is Heather our newest member of the team. I know that I am not the best writer! That is where Heather shares her talents. Heather comes in and polishes my gobbledygook so it is coherent to everyone. She is also the one who comes in with the beautifully written posts and who incorporates her passion for classic literature into all the social posts you see. Heather also brings the much needed female perspective into all of our marketing material. Thank you Heather for making us look so good!
I also want to thank our awesome wedding venues we get to work with, such as Naylor Hall. It is truly an honor to work with such professionals! Naylor Hall is one of the most beautiful venues manned with a staff who really cares about making your wedding day the best it can be. I am truly blessed to work with such wonderful people!
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my family. They have given up so many weekends with me while I have been shooting weddings. I have missed them so! Thank you so much for being so supportive of me and for understanding when I am not around. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This Atlanta wedding photographer also wants to thank you! I want to thank you for taking the time to read this blog and for visiting our site. Please keep coming back and drop us a line on our contact page at Atlanta Artistic Wedding Photographers | Award Winning Atlanta Wedding Photography (atlantaartisticweddings.com).

Roswell Believes in Love at 6 feet Apart and Supporting the Community
I want to share a story of some awesome people that I have had the honor of working with. When you have a wedding there are a few things you need and these talented and smart people know how to provide them. They love what they do, they love the people in their community and they most of all the believe in love!
The first group of people I want to profile is Abbey and Sunny at Naylor Hall. As a Atlanta wedding photographer I have had the honor of shooting at some of the best wedding facilities in the Atlanta area. There are a lot of historic houses in the Roswell but Naylor Hall is a Historic Home. There houses that are great structures but there also some beautiful homes where you celebrate life’s big moments such as the celebration of love, the bringing together of families and the joy of friends. Naylor Hall is a beautiful home. Abbey and Sunny are the people that make Naylor Hall a warm home to celebrate all those things.
Facebook: @NaylorHall
Instagram: @NaylorHall
The next person I want to profile is Ryan Pernice AKA the” Reverend of Roswell Chicken” . Ryan is the owner of three great restaurants in Roswell. He is the owner of Table and Main, Osteria Mattone and Coalition Food and Beverage. He like most restaurant owners are doing what they can. He has is taking orders for take out at Table and Main. He is also feeding some people for free. Yes this man not only presides over weddings but he is a generous spirit who gives to the community and provides chicken when you get married! Food is one the staples of any wedding and his chicken is the best!!!
On Facebook: @Table & Main | a southern tavern , @Osteria Mattone , @Coalition Food and Beverage
On Instagram: @tableandmain @osteriamattone @coalitionfandb
As a Atlanta wedding photographer who has seen a lot of weddings my favorite thing has become the toast. That is where you get to know the people closest to the couple. I have laughed and still cry some of the most touching toasts I have ever heard. You can not have a toast with out something to toast with! That is where Pat Rains AKA “the Bearer of Beer” comes into play. He bestowed our couple with to of his finest libations. Pat opened Gate City Brewing in Roswell. They sell some great brews! You can request growlers and beer to go and they will be happy to oblige!
On Facebook: @Gate City Brewing Company
On Instagram:@gatecitybrewingco
When ever you go to a great party you always comment on the music! That is where David Ellis “AKA “the Mansion Musician” comes into our story. David is a talented musician who can play the wedding classics on his violin and then turn around and play some fun celebratory music on his Gibson banjo! He is a all around talented instrumentalist who plays solo or in one his groups such as Shake Jane!
On Facebook: @dlellismusic @shakyjane
On Instagram: @davidellismusic
I want to thank Naylor Hall, Ryan Pernice, Pat Rains and David Ellis for their support in making these photos and celebrating love. Love is where all great things come from in life and the is the one thing we should always celebrate! I also want to thank you for coming by and checking out this Atlanta wedding photographers blog. If you have any questions please drop me a line! I would love to hear from you!
Thanks again!

The Fabulous Fox Theater and Historic Atlanta Catholic Church Serve as a Backdrop to Beautiful Wedding
This week’s wedding will go down in Atlanta Artistic Weddings history as one of the best weddings ever! The couple choose two of the most Iconic wedding venues in Atlanta. They held their ceremony at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which is one of the oldest catholic churches in the southeast, and their reception took place at the Fabulous Fox Theater!
First, I want to give you a little background on this awesome couple. To know them is to know they love to dance! They are talented competitive ballroom dancers who have even gone to professional dance competitions. A lot of their friends are also competitive dancers. When we met, they explained how important dancing was to them. When you see them dance, their passion for the art form comes alive. You can also see the strong connection they have, since they are so in tune with each other while they dance.
The wedding day started at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located near the Georgia state capital. The church’s construction was completed in 1873, making it one of the oldest churches in downtown Atlanta. Designed by local architect William H. Parkins, the cornerstone was laid on September 1, 1869 by poet Abram Joseph Ryan.
The church is beautiful from the inside out. As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I love these historic churches, with their tall ceilings and beautiful details throughout. The church has large stained glass windows and organ pipes that make a beautiful backdrop to the music.
The bride wore a beautiful ball gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a long train. The train was accented with a gorgeous sheer cathedral vail that was incorporated into her dress. This detail was new to me, but I thought it was a beautiful accent and was very functional, compared to a veil that’s pinned to your hair. She was escorted to the alter by her very proud mother and father. The church’s minister preformed a very classy and tasteful ceremony, accompanied by music played on the church’s organ.
After the ceremony we went to the Fox Theater. As a wedding photographer, this is one of my favorite places in the world to shoot! It is not only a stunning theater, it is also where I proposed to my wife 31 years ago, so it has a special place in my heart. Since the theater has been closed due to the pandemic, the stage was empty and available as a photo location, which was amazing luck. How many people can say they danced on the stage of the Fox Theater?!?
When we finished the photo session, we went to the Egyptian Ballroom on the second floor for the reception. For this wedding, the room was customized with a full ballroom dance floor. The couple did a dazzling first dance that covered the whole floor. The dance included spins to showcase how the bride’s dress flowed with every move. They looked like they were dancing on air. After their dance, the floor was opened up to the guests and it was like something out of a movie! The whole dance floor was suddenly filled with guests doing a choreographed dance. Everyone spinning at the same time and it looked magical!
After the dancing, there were toasts from friends and family of the bride and groom. There was even a fun match game! At the end of the night the couple exited out of the front entrance of the Fox under the marquis surrounded by friends and family cheering them on. It was the perfect ending to the perfect night!
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog. I hope you keep coming back to see all the fun weddings we are honored to shoot. Inexpensive Photography and Microweddings are a good idea! | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
Times are a changing! During this Corona Pandemic / Covid 19 times wedding ceremonies are changing and as a Atlanta wedding photographers we are changing with them. With social distancing wedding ceremonies have been getting smaller for safety reasons. We understand that and wan to help our clients.
Well let’s look at some of the positives of having a micro wedding. One they are a lot less expensive than large weddings and you are just as married! They can be fun! A micro wedding can be very quick and then you can be on to your honeymoon. The ceremony is less expensive and quicker than a regular wedding. The photography is less expensive than a regular wedding and it can be a lot more fun!
Let’s talk about the photography for a Micro wedding. If you have been following my blog the one thing I always tell my clients is that “this is your wedding”. That is true for micro weddings too. There are a lot more options for a Micro wedding. You can customize any wedding package on my website. I am here to make you happy in any way that I can. One of the photography options is to have me there for you ceremony and family on your wedding day. We can book another day to do some photography at any location that you like! That way if you want we can do some fun photography at some the most beautiful locations in Atlanta and through out Georgia with out the pressure of a time clock running at your wedding.
During this time we should be accommodating and think outside of the box. I am looking forward to all these unique weddings and elopements. To refer back to my earlier Atlanta wedding photographer blogs “my passion is photography first and foremost”. I want to capture two people in love may it be a large wedding, micro wedding or elopement. It is two people in love!

Historic Wedding Venues | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
As a Atlanta wedding photographer I get to see lots of different wedding venues. I have to say that my favorite wedding venues are the historic ones in Atlanta. Atlanta is blessed with some beautiful historic wedding venues. From the historic area around Peachtree Street to the historic mansions in Roswell. Each one has it’s own charm to share the bride and groom along with their guests. When you pick a historic wedding venue you are also sharing the rich history of the city.
All along Peachtree street there are several stunning wedding venues for large and small weddings. There is my favorite venue the Fox Theater where I proposed to my wife. The Fox has a few places where you can have weddings. The have the large Egyptian Ballroom decorated in large columns and gold leaf. the room is filled beautiful carvings and has a balcony that over looks the space. Then there is the Marque Club where this 10,00 square feet of space for your guests. It is decorated in a Moorish-Mediterranean decor with a private bar. You also have access to the two heated roof top bars. Across the street from the Fox Theater is the Georgian Terrace. It is a historic hotel that is a landmark in the heart of town. It is a beautiful venue with a ballroom to die for. It is a perfect location if you are expecting out of town guests. They can stay there in the hotel and walk to your wedding! If you want a smaller wedding you can have it at the Livingston Restaurant and have the back drop of Peachtree Street. Then right a little further you can go to Wimbish house which was built in 1906 and is one of the few residents that made through all the changes in the downtown area. There is also Rhodes Hall. A historic house on Peachtree Street with a Romanesque revival accents. It looks like a castle in the center of town. It is also the home of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation!
If you go north of Atlanta there is Roswell. Roswell is the home of some the best preserved pieces of southern architecture in the Atlanta area. There are several historic venues along Roswell Road. There is Primrose Cottage, Roswell Mill Club Founders Hall and Kimball Hall. My favorite venue by far is Naylor Hall! Naylor hall is historic land mark along Roswell Road and just a little north of the shopping district.
Naylor hall is run by Sunny Bailey. Naylor Hall was built in 1840. Naylor has one of the largest most grand entrances of all the mansions in Roswell. The front yard makes for a perfect backdrop for you wedding ceremony. There is a bridal room upstairs above the historic staircase. There is the dance area in the rear of the house that is beautiful with a bar and tons of great light which I like as a photographer. But what really make Naylor hall such a wonderful venue is the staff! Abbey and Sunny are real pros! They are the people you want on your team on your wedding day.
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog. I hope you go out and explore these historic wedding venues. If you have any questions please contact me and I will be happy to help in any way that I can. Please keep coming back there is always something new at Atlanta Artistic Weddings!
Thanks again,
David

Engagement Session Season is Starting! | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
As a Atlanta wedding photographer I love this time of year. The air has a little bit of crisp to it and the anticipation of spring is in the minds of everyone. It is a time of year of fresh starts and the beginning of the wedding season! With beginning of the wedding season comes engagement sessions.
I love engagement sessions! I get to know the couple and get to know what the couple is comfortable with. I feel like at the end of every engagement session I am friends with the couple and they feel completely relaxed around me. I really enjoy the vibe of a engagement session. You are not rushed and usually you pick a location that the couple enjoys so they are comfortable in that environment. When shooting an engagement session I never look at the clock. I like to take our time and with the photos and chat to get to know the couple.
When I chat with the couple during an engagement session I get to find out the neatest things. Such as how they meet. I find out who said I love you first and when they knew they were in love! You get to know how their families and little details on their friends. I even found out one of my grooms was on the my favorite game shoe “The Price is Right” and he won the show case show down! These are things you will not get to know during the busy hectic day of a wedding.
There are so many photo locations in Atlanta. I like to help people out and share some of my insight in to photography around Atlanta. I am also a big fan of maps! So I have made a google map of some of my favorite photo locations in Atlanta for you. Please click on the interactive map and feel free to share it with friends, couples getting married or other photographers in Atlanta.
“Happiness is holding someone in your arms and knowing you hold the whole world.” ― Orhan Pamuk

Best 2019 Engagement Sessions | Atlanta Wedding Photographer
Well 2019 was a great year for the Atlanta wedding photographers at AtlantaArtsiticWeddings! We got to meet so many wonderful couples! If you have been following our blog you know I love the engagement sessions. It is a laid back little adventure with the couple where we get to know each other. I get to know the bride and groom. I love getting know them! I get to know their family and how they fell in love!
As a mater of fact the Atlanta wedding photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings were listed as one of teh best engagement photographers in Atlanta at https://www.peerspace.com/resources/engagement-photographers-atlanta/. It is a awesome award and we are honored to be on their list with so many other great photographers.
What I like about engagement sessions is when I really get to know the couple. They tell me all about their selves. That way during the wedding day they are much more comfortable with the photographer. So on the wedding day it is not some guy following them around on their wedding day taking photos but it is David their friend and advocate on their wedding day.
When you shoot with the wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings you get the rights to your images. You also get your edited photos on a USB drive. When you do your engagement photos early enough before your wedding you can use the photos for many different things. You can use them for save the date, holiday cards and even your screen saver!
Also the cool thing about engagement photos is that there are so many great places around Atlanta for photography. There parks such as Centennial Olympic Park, Decatur Square, Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
The great thing about Atlanta is there is a cornucopia of locations to shoot at. There are some stunning city scapes and skylines. The city has some beautiful land marks through out the city. I prefer the historic land marks that are scattered in the city. There is the Atlanta History Center’s Swan Coach House, there is the Fox Theater and Rhodes Hall.
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s website. Please feel free to drop me a line I would love to hear from you! Please keep coming back and see what we are up to!
Thanks again! David

Atlanta Engagement Shoot at the Fox, Peachtree Street and Georgian Terrace
Well this weeks shoot is one for the books. I always say I am so honored to be a Atlanta wedding photographer and this week’s engagement shoot is a fine example of that. It started off with a little rough start but everything came together perfectly!
We had to reschedule the shoot from the weekend before because of rain. The bride and groom were very understanding and patient. We were supposed to start at Piedmont Park but when I get there it started to rain. So we decided to start at their apartment on Peachtree Street. The couple changed clothes into something a little more sophisticated. As you know I like shooting early in the morning so when we were walking to the Fox Theater to get started I saw one of my photography students. She was on a run with some friends and said “ You really do shoot in the morning and capture the blue hour!”.
We started on with some fun shoots on Peachtree Street by the Fox Theater. They wanted capture the feel of the neighborhood where they live. So we started at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Peachtree Street where three of the coolest historic buildings in Atlanta are. We captured a couple of photos in front of the Fox Theater and then we captured at few shoots of them walking down the side walks on Peachtree Street. They were real sports through the whole thing and we had a great time.
We then went to the entrance to the Ponce Condominium a historic building right at the corner of Ponce and Peachtree Street. The brides mother came along and we did some fun back lighting effects with a second flash. It gave a very rainy dreamy vibe to the photos you see above.
When then went to the Georgian Terrace a historic hotel that has been used in several movies that are being made her in Atlanta now. It is a great place to host a wedding or reception. The staff there are real pros and know exactly how to treat people right!
There are several great places for photography at the Georgian Terrace. There is the ballroom where you take a step back in Atlanta history. Then there is the atrium and main entrance to the hotel that you see below. It is a grand area with lots of natural light. It is also where the modern and historical architecture meet.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you keep coming back and find out what the Atlanta wedding photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings are up to! Please feel free to drop me a line I would love to hear from you!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers | Rustic Engagement Photography Session
This weekend, I had the honor of shooting an engagement photography session with this wonderful couple.  They could not have been more relaxed and fun.  As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I have the honor of shooting many wonderful couples, and I could tell that this particular couple were just so in love! The bride was actually born and raised in the Atlanta area (a rare find!). She went to school just down the road from my own family in Gwinnett county. The groom is from outside of Nashville and could not have been more gracious when we meet.  Together, they are just really down home people, and we all wanted to capture that goodness in their engagement photography.
Rustic Engagement Photography with Furry Friends by the Atlanta Wedding Photographers at AtlantaArtisticWeddings
They wanted a rustic photo shoot, so we choose McDaniel Farm Park for the location.  It's tucked away from the busy mall area in Gwinnett, just off of interstate 85.  But it's so tucked away, you can't even see it from the road. Situated on a 1930's cotton farm, the park has all the historic equipment and structures intact.  There is a barn and a multi-use trail, along with a tenant house in the middle of this beautiful field where the above photo was taken.
They asked me before the shoot if it was ok to bring their pets.  I am a huge animal lover and said "yes!!!" (with that many exclamation points in my voice).  Pets can be so much fun to shoot.  They each have their own personality, and they are absolutely a part of the family! The couple brought their two dogs, who were a blast to be around.  They ran around smelling everything and even posing for the camera!
As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I often get to go to off-the-beaten-path places that are so beautiful, like McDaniel Farm Park, all while hanging out with some really cool people! Because that's what engagement photography is all about.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog!  I hope you keep coming back, and please feel free to drop me a line. I would love to hear from you!
Thanks again!

Decatur Courthouse | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
Atlanta Wedding Photographers shoot at the Historic Decatur Courthouse
This week we had the honor of shooting a wedding at the historical wedding venue the Decatur Courthouse.   It is the jewel of downtown Decatur and a wonderful venue that is a pure joy to shoot at! The couple could not have been more fun!! The bride and groom had everything planned out so it made the day easy and breezy.
We started at the hotel which is walking distance from the Decatur Court House.  Every thing is so close together at in the Decatur area and the Courthouse is in the center of it all.
We did a first look at the gazebo in the rear of the courthouse. The couple were so thoughtful to each other and the groom was truly taken back from the brides beauty.  She wore a simple gown with a tasteful train.  The brides maids were just a joy and were checking in on the couple during the first look.
We did some photos on the Decatur square where there was a marching band playing.  They were dressed in colorful uniforms and some were dressed as clowns.  They two were excited for the bride and and groom!  They even did a little tune for them.  It was all very spontaneous and sweet.
We then went in to the courthouse and started photos there.  We took advantage of the place before any one got there.  The couple practiced their first dance in the spacious hall.  They could move around with freedom and just have fun!  Is that not what you want to do on your wedding day!
I want to thank the couple for the honor of being their wedding photographer!  I want to thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love to hear from you! Please drop me a line at the contact section of the website.
Thanks again!

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Shoot at New Wedding Venue
As a Atlanta wedding photographer I recently had the honor of shooting a wedding at Indigo Falls.  It is a wedding venue located in Dallas Georgia and is a short drive from Atlanta. It has so many amenities for your wedding.   They have a large lake for a for photos with two bridges going across it also perfect for photos.  There is a covered bridge just out side the reception area.  While I was there they had a outdoor fireplace to breat the chill and warm you up in the evening.  There are to wedding facilities!  You can get married outdoors or inside the chapel they have built.  So you will have no worries if it rains on your wedding day.  Both the outdoor chapel and indoor chapel can hold 220 people.  The wedding facility is on 350 acres so there is plenty of room for your event!
The wedding I shot there was so much fun! The bride and groom could not have been more gracious.  They did a first look on a little island they have at the lake at Indigo Falls.  The weather was beautiful! It was not too hot or too cold. The bride wore a modified A line wedding dress with a stunning train.
One of the sweetest moments during the wedding which was full of many wonderful moments was when the bride asked her mom to dance with her.  I tell her mom was truly surprised and touched by her daughter.  There was not a dry eye in the house.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope that you enjoy the blog and keep coming back! I would love to hear from you. Please go to the contact section of the site and drop me a line!
Thanks again,
David
