I think the anon who sent the "Zuko lost Azula in the end of the series" ask meant: "If Zuko lost Azula, his sister, but still had Katara, it means that Katara's like a sibling to him and Kataang's the ship with romantic development". That's what I see after rereading it for the fifth time. I don't know if you should even reply to that, since you've already written many awesome metas about this episode, as well as Kataang's "development". Thoughts on "Katara is like a sibling to Zuko" thing?
Platonic Zuko - Katara relationship can be really good. I read quite a lot of Gen and Zukka fics and many pull off flawlessly the sibling vibe between Zuko and Katara. It depends on how the scenes are chosen and written.
This is also true for canon. The same content, depending on the framing, the animation choices can be more platonic or more romantic coded.
I’m not going to go into the entire Ba Sing Se set-up and how those scenes come back during the Southern Raiders, the Jet - Zuko parallels - all this has been discussed to death. I’m only going to concentrate on the scenes after their reconciliation. This was a turning point and it was up to the creative team to frame their new friendship.
Tumblr media
To establish whether a scene has a sibling vibe, I use a simple rule: could we simply switch Zuko with Sokka in a given scene and get the same tone, the same reactions from Katara?
3.17 - Ember Island Players
This is the first episode where Zuko and Katara are officially friends. It starts out with Katara ogling the half-naked training session. This is not a particularly sibling-like start.
Tumblr media
Then we segue into the ship-baiting, triangulating theater-seating scene. Note Katara’s body language. Nope, can’t put Sokka in there. ick.
Tumblr media
Katara roasting Zuko is definitely a scene she could also have with Sokka. This is the first score for sibling-vibe.
Tumblr media
Then we get the reaction to their on-stage romance. I don’t think anyone could argue sibling-vibes here. Bonus: Suki’s little smile.
Tumblr media
Katara showing concern for Zuko works perfectly both in the platonic and romantic context, and we have seen Zuko having the “Iroh-discussion” with both Sokka and Toph.
Tumblr media
3.18 - The Phoenix King
This scene is not coded romantically, but is an important set up for the lightning scene of the Agni kai.
Tumblr media
Katara and Zuko teaming up, fighting back-to-back, is also a scene that works platonically, even though I don’t remember any such framing with Katara and Sokka or Zuko and Azula.
Tumblr media
Then we have Katara snooping around the house for pots  Zuko’s childhood memorabilia, coming with cute baby-pictures. This implies that Katara is intrigued to get to know him better, which fits better with a romantic interest than with the sibling vibe.
Tumblr media
This is a loud co-parenting moment between Zuko and Katara
Tumblr media
3.19 The Old Masters
So this one starts out with the not my girlfriend / not my boyfriend scene, which is again clearly not sibling coded.
Tumblr media
Then continues with the bed bison-sharing. (If they wanted to code this platonic, all they had to do was add Toph to the pile. Instead, they chose to put Sokka/Suki on the other side and Toph by herself).
Tumblr media
The Katara comforting Zuko scene in itself is not romantic, though shows the deep trust built between them. It is however framed to be the direct parallel of the Zuko-Mai scene from 3.01, which pushes it narratively again towards the romantic coding.
Tumblr media
Zuko asking Katara to go with him works both ways.
Tumblr media
3.20 - Into the Inferno
This brief scene is not really coded anything, but notice how the physical distance shrunk between them compared to previous episodes.
Tumblr media
Zuko going for an Agni kai is also a fairly neutral scene which could work between concerned siblings.
Tumblr media
However, the lightning scene. It has been said many times and I agree, Zuko jumping in front of the lightning in itself is not necessarily romantic, but the entire slow-mo animation, the way they focus on their emotions makes it feel very much like a romantic scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.21 - Avatar Aang
The heightened emotions continue as the camera lingers on them reaching out for each other repeatedly (there is a similar scene when Suki and Sokka get split up, but even that canon-ship scene doesn’t have the amount of focus on the hands as this one does).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katara healing Zuko again doesn’t have to be a romantically-charged scene. But the poses, the animation make it look like they are about to hug or kiss. This is also Katara’s last line of dialogue (other than a tiny line to Hakoda “Dad!” and when she mocks Sokka’s drawing) in the entire series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here, Katara doesn’t have to touch Zuko anymore - she’s not holding him up, she’s not taking care of the wound. It’s a gesture of comfort, but also a gesture of wanting to stay connected.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, many of these scenes (not the ship-baiting ones obviously) could have been written, framed, animated in a purely platonic way, giving it more of a playful sibling vibe (like whenever we see Zuko and Toph interact), but the creators deliberately chose overtly romantic or at least ambiguous tones. This is why in the context of canon, it’s difficult for me to put myself into the Zuko and Katara are like siblings mindset.

This Health Update™ is dedicated to Keith, a grown man who for several years now has accused me of faking my illnesses in order to *check notes* "doc shop for drugs and make money on YouTube." Thanks for reminding me why it's important for me to tell my story, silly ass. 😉
4.1.21 I haven't had a follow-up yet but I did get biopsy results, so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what caused my official Worst Flare-Up Ever. Good news: the biopsies came back fine. Nothing scary, just confirmation that this was not only an ulcerative colitis relapse, but an acute gastritis and esophagitis flare too. Inflammatory bowel disease is cute. Endoscopy showed lots of inflammation in my stomach/esophagus, but thankfully no ulcers or perforations. But, surprise! I have a hiatal hernia  (pic 6 in the scope slide), which I'd actually been suspecting for years. This is when a portion of the stomach pushes up past the diaphragm (eew!). This explains a lot of my other symptoms over the years. Luckily it's not huge or dangerous. Still painful and a hassle but nothing I need surgery for. It's probably there as a result of all of the years I've spent vomiting from these diseases. 🤷
Below this cut is my endoscopy pics, a timeline, and more thoughts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sharing this timeline in order to show just how quickly things can spiral out of control for someone with chronic illness, no matter how stable or "healthy" they may seem:
3.15: Period starts. Literal worst of my life*. My cramps are only eased by ibuprofen (worst thing for IBD), but I ONLY take it during my period, so I usually avoid anything terrible happening. But this time I had to take way more than usual because of how bad it was, and periods already cause "mini" colitis relapses because of the wacky hormones. *The CT scan later revealed an ovarian cyst on my right side, with them also noting that my right kidney tubes are kind of prominent. This may explain my rough periods and also why I've been having so many bladder/kidney issues the past few years.
3.17: Miserable, exhausted from period + colitis, I treated myself to some ramen. It didn't seem too spicy for me (and I dilute my ramen with coconut milk) but I had an instant reaction that was very out of character.
3.18: The bad flare started at 1am and from then until 10pm I had 40+ painful, bloody BM's. I knew something wasn't right. I was getting up every 20 minutes and shaking so hard from the pain. I went to the ER.
3.19: Since the docs and I thought it was just the colitis, I was prescribed steroids. I don't normally take them because I don't like how they make me feel, but since this attack was so dramatic I tried to be a good hologram and take my medicine. I should have listened to my gut (lol) and insisted on further investigation before taking anything, because--
3.19-3.28: I took the steroids every day, which instantly calmed my colon, but only made the inflammation in my stomach way. Way. Worse. Basically fried off the protective lining. Imagine you scraped your whole leg against asphalt and then kept pouring acid on it for ten days straight.
3.28: After suffering all those days and barely able to eat without intense pain and bloating, I knew something else was up and didn't want to keep waiting for my GI referral. I went back to the ER and was admitted until the evening of 3.30. The pain was so bad they were giving me morphine every 4 hours at one point. When they heard that I was on steroids with my stomach in that condition they were like OH NO.
I've only been home a day and a half. I'm weak and tired and the pain of my poor screaming stomach is still the worst I've ever experienced in my life. I have all kinds of often debilitating chronic pain that I deal with daily from fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis, narcolepsy, osteoarthritis, atlas subluxation/spinal pain, colitis, etc. But this takes the cake. Even with the pills they sent me home with, I'm still in too much discomfort to get much sleep. It feels like my stomach is a hard bloated rock inside of me and I can almost feel it shivering in pain. There is no comfortable position to be in, food is still very painful and the bile is excessive, like a FOUNTAIN coming up my damn throat.
I have no idea what this recovery is going to look like, especially if I'm still in this much pain and barely eating. I'm doing everything I can to support healing right now, including a very minimal mostly liquid diet (probiotics!), gut-soothing supplements, and letting myself off the hook with my content creation and projects (well I do a little bit of editing when I can >.>). Just hoping that as my stomach calms down and the lining rebuilds, I'll be able to eat and sleep normally, which will then make healing faster.
I've officially never been sicker in my life than I am right now. Always things to learn with chronic illnesses, even when I thought I was a veteran. The past year made it hard to make healthy choices 100% of the time. A lot of comfort food that wasn't good for me. I always backed off and went back to my IBD-friendly eating habits, but stress and the need to self-soothe made it harder to keep up. I was already having bloating issues before this flare, so it was all just waiting to snowball into this. I'm taking this as a chance to not only reset my gut but to reset my relationship with food and my rituals around food. I wasn't horribly unhealthy about food before, you guys have seen all my rice porridge and veggies, but I definitely had more "cheat days" than I should have in 2020.
I just... miss... food. So much. My routines are such a big part of my daily and weekly schedule. And now without mealtimes accompanying certain activities like clockwork, I feel a bit lost. I find myself so bored and realizing I would normally be enjoying one of my favorite snacks at that time of the day.
I still have some tests I want to do with my GI when I finally see them, so there is a possibility of there being more to the story (usually is with chronic illness). But for now, I have a plan. Just gotta try my best and REST.
Thanks for the messages, holograms! My healing is supported by your love. Please learn from my story and take care of yourselves too. Start sipping on miso soup daily. No, seriously. Gut magic.

atla rewatch thoughts
because i’d regret it if i didn’t write it down, here’s my thoughts upon rewatch off the top of my head!
always interesting to see what new things come to the fore when revisiting something as an adult, especially when Something is excellent
this is my #1 fav show c:
this show is so good!
it’s not just character-oriented, which is the single most important factor in me giving a shit, but it has 2 things i think i value the most in a plot, overarching cohesion/consistency, and breathing room
book 2 was always my fave, but i have a newer appreciation for book 3 and i’d put them equal now (as i think most people do?)
AANG! i love him. he is so special. he is an absolute joy to watch, a character that just glimmers with understated complexity, humour, heart, cleverness, strength, tragedy, integrity. an icoooon. and just unique from a meta perspective- had a great discussion about how there are truly no protagonists in popular western media like him - there’s things about his characterisation, his arc that i’ve always appreciated deeply that i didn’t rly have the tools to articulate until this time around
by the same token, i can better pinpoint my issues with a lot of fandom reception of him (in particular, though this applies to all the characters) (touched on one aspect here)
i love the entire gaang but my unpopular onion is that ehhh... suki isn’t really part of the gaang? i mean she literally has her own gang give them some credit (real talk this is because she’s a static character compared to them whose inner life we aren’t privy to, though there’s nothing wrong with that)
atla gives effortless dimension to its secondary characters, and this applies to azula but not i think to the degree it should given her narrative agency, role as zuko’s foil, and the complexity of her whole... complex. she’s the one character that is slightly close to being a caricature imo, and we don’t see Into her early as we should because it’s cooler when she’s #slick. i’d love to have had a bit more of her.
if i could change anything else about the ending, i’d give zuko prince wu’s abdication ending from lok
aside from that, the show has such a deft, sustained, multidimensional treatment of imperialism and colonialism that truly sets it apart within the genre and beyond
also the first thing that ever caught my attention about atla is how asian the aesthetics are and i will always love that! i don’t know how americans ever executed this galaxy brained concept but i’m so glad a massively popular anglophone cultural product that speaks directly to us, can belong to us, before white people exists (#representationmatters and all that, but it’s altogether more liberating if your entire fantasy world is noneuro and no one even has to exist in relation to hegemonic whiteness. utopic!)
i happily drink that delicious pan-asian soup, but if you asked, i’d say i wish we saw more explicitly south asian characters given how much the show borrows from indosphere culture/religion (including but not limited to the titular concept)
could take it or leave it when i first watched it, but as an adult who knows they can just not like stuff, and whose tolerance for perfunctory het is at an all time low: i don’t like maiko. like all atla ships, there’s potential, but my instinctual read as i watch is that as they are, they’re bringing out the worse aspects of each other (in zuko’s case, the malaise that characterises his whole personal/moral quandary after returning home is usually on display in scenes with mai, whether that just makes maiko a victim or circumstance or not)
the show is def a product of its time wrt heteronormativity, regardless of how queerable it is to those interested. this is something i’m interested to see change in the live action, because i think it will have to change!
i still think it would be equally poignant and tighter without most of the overt romance, and i continue to not be hot on the ending scene
kataang shines bright regardless. no amount of clumsiness on that front can elide how pivotal, touching, and enjoyable their actual dynamic is. they’re the emotional bedrock of the whole show
zutara tasty, but i’m always like (to quote zuko) ‘where’s the rest of it?’ when i jump into the show after the fandom
zukaang manifesto time! this is undeniably the non-canon ship with the most TEXTUAL juice. their mirrored journey is my favourite throughline of the show and it’s arguably the throughline with zuko as the deuteragonist and their convergence/shared destiny being the key to the war’s end. that’s not coming from a shipping lens (it was true before i ever really shipped them), but this particular flavour of narrative basis adds real magic to shipping. when there’s no difference between what you appreciate intellectually and indulgently in a narrative and they just compound each other endlessly..... eliteeee
related, can’t stop thinking abt how roku’s homosexuality started the war
i preferred when toph/sokka/suki instead of sokka/suki/zuko was the go-to gaang ot3 but what i really want to see is zutaraang supremacy
aang, zuko and katara are the show’s tentpoles, especially emotionally. they each foil the other two so well - in their personalities, and esp for zutara/zukaang, on a wider thematic level. and they’re such well articulated characters that it’s easy to extrapolate that to the three-way dynamic. it’s probably most (in)famously on display in 3.16 but there’s a deeelicious little moment in 3.18 when aang leaves distraught and zuko is the one to stop katara from immediately going after him. the #dynamics that were simmering, whew.
i think mai/ty lee is getting the generic uwu soft girls treatment that is the bane of all popular femslash ships (same way zukka’s getting the generic dudeslash treatment) because azula makes tyzula a little too spicy. however i would like to see more tyzula, especially of the spicy variety
i wish there was someone in this show i could thirst over. hakoda is sort of a dilf?

PerishingShards here! We have finished the ATLA portion of the Avatar Rewatch 2019. It’s been a blast visiting these characters again.
Avatar: The Last Airbender:
(The episode overviews are taken straight from The Avatar Wikia)
3.18 Sozin’s Comet, Part 1: The Phoenix King
Aang prepares himself to fight Fire Lord Ozai, but has difficulty deciding how to defeat him without taking his life. His friends push him, urging him to kill the Fire Lord, but Aang insists it goes against his beliefs. In his sleep, Aang is drawn toward a mysterious island that appears suddenly in the sea. His friends find June, the bounty hunter, to attempt to locate him again. Fire Lord Ozai crowns himself Phoenix King and Aang awakens on the unknown island now in the middle of the sea.
3.19 Sozin’s Comet, Part 2: The Old Masters
On the mysterious island, Aang seeks guidance from his past lives, but they insist he must take Fire Lord Ozai's life. The island is discovered to be a wise lion turtle that provides Aang with ancient knowledge of a forgotten art, energybending. Meanwhile, after June is unable to find the Avatar, Zuko decides to find his uncle instead, and Team Avatar meets the Order of the White Lotus, its leader being Iroh. After reuniting with Iroh, the team chooses to split up and go in different directions to help stop the Fire Nation. Sozin's Comet arrives and Phoenix King Ozai prepares to destroy the Earth Kingdom.
3.20 Sozin’s Comet, Part 3: Into The Inferno
Azula's mental stability quickly begins to deteriorate as her coronation as Fire Lord approaches. Zuko and Katara interrupt the ceremony, and Azula challenges her brother to an Agni Kai for the crown. Although Zuko is able to outmatch his sister, he is injured taking a bolt of lightning meant for Katara and unable to continue the fight. Meanwhile, Aang finally confronts Ozai, but he is unwilling to take the Fire Lord's life and starts to be overpowered by Ozai's relentless attacks. Sokka, Toph, and Suki attempt to halt the airship fleet, but become separated during the assault, while the Order of the White Lotus battles for Ba Sing Se's freedom.
3.21 Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang
Ozai accidentally unlocks Aang's chakra, causing him to enter the Avatar State. The Order of the White Lotus successfully liberates Ba Sing Se, while Sokka and Toph manage to disable all of the airships. Katara defeats Azula and heals Zuko's injuries. Aang in the Avatar State easily overwhelms Ozai, yet still refuses to kill him. He uses an ancient form of bending, known as energybending, to strip Ozai of his firebending powers, keeping true to his beliefs and defeating the Phoenix King without taking his life. Newly appointed Fire Lord Zuko declares the War over, with Aang and his friends celebrating together. Aang and Katara share a romantic kiss on the balcony as the series draws to an end.

Fact about Africa:
During the 1950’s, Africa was a continent awakening to the prospects of independence.
In the 1960’s, Africa was a continent in transition for during the decade 31 African countries South of the Sahara became independent, 17 of them in 1960 alone. Notable progress was school enrolment and some industrialization.
In the 1970’s, Africa was a continent in Limbo. Development proved difficult, and regional and ethnic conflicts became rampant. The cold war placed African countries between the USA and Russia. Increases in oil prices by OPEC in 1973 affected the economic development of African countries. The 1970’s were also periods of Sahelian drought and famine.
During the 1980’s, it became clear that Africa was a continent in decline. Hunger and starvation in Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia. Civil wars in Angola, Sudan, Mozambique and Southern Africa.
In the 1990’s, Africa was a continent in crisis. Economic stagnation continued to deteriorate. Rapid spread of AIDS threatens families and general societies.
FACTS ABOUT AFRICA
1. Africa is attached to Asia at its northeast Sinai corner by an Isthmus (Suez Canal) 70 kms wide.
2. Africa is the most centrally located of all the continents. The prime meridian (the Greenwich meridian) 0o passes through the Atlas Mountains and cuts through the coast of West Africa close to Accra, while the Equator (latitude 0 degrees) also divides the continent into 2 equal parts North and South. Africa is yet to take advantage of its Centralized location in the world.
3. Africa is the most tropical of all continents. It straddles the equator and incorporates both the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. The climate south of the equator mirrors that of the north of the equator but the shape of the northern half of Africa reduces any maritime influence
4. The landmass nearest to Africa is Europe separated by the Mediterranean Sea only 9 miles across the Strait of Gibraltar.
5. Africa is the world's second largest continent after Asia.
6. It is the most compact of all the continents in terms of shape and comprises the oldest rocks pertaining to the Precambrian Era.
7. Africa is as long as it is broad. It measures approximately 7,500 kms from South to North as well as in its east-west extent.
8. Most of the surface of Africa consists of the world’s oldest Pre-Cambrian rocks planed down to an upland plateau.
9. Africa comprises 54 countries with a population of 654 million in 1992.
10. Sahara desert, (the largest expanse of dry land in the world) is
Over 10.4 million square kilometers
11. Evidence points to a common human ancestry originating in
Africa from the emergence of a humanlike species in eastern
African some 5 million years ago. From Hadar, Ethiopia, the
3.18 million year-old remains of "Lucy" were unearthed in
1974.

Aang: So... Have you ever redirected lightning before? Zuko: Once. Against my Father. Aang: What did it feel like? Zuko: Exhilarating. But terrifying.  You feel so powerful holding that much energy in your body. But you know that you make the wrong move, it's over. Aang: Heh. Well, not over over, right I mean there's always Katara and a little spirit water action... Am I right?  Katara: Actually, I used it all up after Azula shot you. Aang: Oh.
Just a small reminder that Zuko knew exactly what he was doing.  And so did Katara.

Wow! Mortgage Rates Reach Lowest Level in Almost 50 Years
Mikolette/Getty Images
Mortgage rates have just dropped to the lowest level in almost 50 years, compelling both homeowners and home buyers to get off the couch to take advantage of record-level savings on their mortgage.
“The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage hit a record 3.29% this week, the lowest level in its nearly 50-year history,” said Sam Khater, chief economist of mortgage giant Freddie Mac. “Meanwhile, mortgage applications increased 10% last week from one year ago and show no signs of slowing down.”
To put this record rate in perspective, 3.29% even dips below levels seen during the housing crisis. The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 3.31% in 2012.
At present, 15-year fixed-rate mortgages average 2.79% and five-year adjustable-rate mortgages 3.18%.
This news comes in the wake of the Federal Reserve’s decision on Tuesday to slash short-term federal interest rates by 50 basis points in an attempt to steady markets rocked by coronavirus fears. (A basis point, which is used to describe a change in percentage, is the equivalent of 0.01%.)
“A 50-basis-point cut in interest rates is very substantial. The Fed hasn’t cut rates like this since 2008,” says Tony Julianelle, CEO of Denver-based Atlas Real Estate. “This is a fantastic time to look at refinancing or purchasing property.”
What record low rates could mean for mortgage borrowers
Record low mortgage rates are the Black Friday sale of housing—after all, even a one-tenth of a percentage point rate difference can amount to thousands of dollars saved over the life of a 30-year loan.
“Refinances have already spiked, and most lenders are reporting a surge in overall applications,” says Julianelle.
“If you have a mortgage rate in the 4%-plus range, it likely makes sense to refinance,” says KC Conway, Alabama Center for Real Estate‘s director of research and chief economist of CCIM Institute, a real estate educational body.
That said, he continues, “this rate cut has a more stimulative impact on home equity lending, where homeowners can borrow really cheap to finally do a home improvement project or use the equity to pay off credit cards or a car.”
But not all refis are a good idea.
“It’s important to shop interest rates, because when volume increases like this, some lenders will hold rates higher to help throttle the demand back and not overload their own processes and systems,” Julianelle warns. “Others who may be more automated or flexible will drop rates more to gain market share.”
Will low mortgage rates attract home buyers, too?
Homeowners aren’t the only ones who might be drawn out of the house to survey their options. Low mortgage rates might also “entice home buyers out to shop as well,” says Danielle Hale, chief economist at realtor.com. “That’s certainly the Fed’s hope.”
“We will see a mini housing boom the rest of the year,” says Todd Huettner, a real estate and personal finance expert and president of Huettner Capital, in Denver. “It may get some people off the fence and motivate those that had not looked over the winter. I think it will take a little longer to draw people off the sidelines, but that should happen by the time the traditional buying season kicks off in a few months.”
Buyers who dive in to home shopping now, however, will reap the most gains.
“I would characterize this week’s rates as Christmas in March,” says Conway. “Rates at these historic lows truly is March madness. The catch is, low rates are great for now, but they could reverse in the spring or late summer if the virus results in such an economic slowing that we see job layoffs.”
Make that two catches: The big problem for housing has been a lack of supply, not a lack of demand, Conway adds. So as lower rates stimulate even more demand, prices are likely to go up.
Lack of inventory aside, might fear of the COVID-19 virus keep home buyers from heading out?
“Unless the virus becomes a real issue in their community, I don’t think this will affect home buyers,” Huettner says. “People may avoid an open house, but home buying is not like attending a large sporting event, going on a cruise, or sitting on a plane where you are in close proximity to a large number of people in a relatively small amount of space.”
How long will mortgage rates remain low?
Experts predict that these bargain-basement mortgage rates won’t linger for long.
“It won’t be in place long term, and will be extracted when the virus abates in the late spring or summer,” says Conway.
“Do everything in your power to move before November,” urges Washington, DC–based real estate agent Cedric Stewart. “If you’re considering buying or selling in the next 12 to 24 months, adjust that timeline to the next seven to eight months. The potential savings on a 30-year mortgage now versus a higher rate make this worth considering breaking a lease, postponing a vacation, or moving up plans.”
All that said, in the same way you don’t buy a boat or blender just because it’s on sale, you shouldn’t buy—or refinance—without thoroughly considering your personal circumstances. If you’re a homeowner, check a refinance calculator to see if it really makes sense to refinance now. While you might save money on interest, refinancing entails closing costs that can run in the thousands.
“Calculate what it costs to refinance—closing costs—and what you’d save monthly, and then determine how many months it will take to earn back what you invested in the refinance,” says Julianelle. “If that number is low and you intend to own that home longer than the return time period, it may be worth doing.”
If you’re tempted to buy a home, make sure to check a home affordability calculator to get a sense of what price house you can afford. Because no matter how low mortgage rates go, “there is never a perfect time to buy,” says Richard Murdocco, who teaches in the public policy graduate program at Stony Brook University and is the founder of the real estate site The Foggiest Idea.
“I am a firm believer in looking at what’s on the market and sticking with what you can comfortably afford,” he says. “Mortgage rates are always going to be a bit of a gamble.”

#cancers, Vol. 11, Pages 1722: Construction and Validation of an Immune-Related Prognostic Model Based on TP53 Status in Colorectal #cancer
Growing evidence has indicated that prognostic biomarkers have a pivotal role in tumor and immunity biological processes. TP53 mutation can cause a range of changes in immune response, progression, and prognosis of colorectal #cancer (CRC). Thus, we aim to build an immunoscore prognostic model that may enhance the prognosis of CRC from an immunological perspective. We estimated the proportion of immune cells in the GSE39582 public dataset using the CIBERSORT (Cell type identification by estimating relative subset of known #RNA transcripts) algorithm. Prognostic genes that were used to establish the immunoscore model were generated by the LASSO (Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) Cox regression model. We established and validated the immunoscore model in GEO (Gene Expression Omnibus) and TCGA (The #cancer Genome Atlas) cohorts, respectively; significant differences of overall survival analysis were found between the low and high immunoscore groups or TP53 subgroups. In the multivariable Cox analysis, we observed that the immunoscore was an independent prognostic factor both in the GEO cohort (HR (Hazard ratio) 1.76, 95% CI (confidence intervals): 1.26–2.46) and the TCGA cohort (HR 1.95, 95% CI: 1.20–3.18). Furthermore, we established a nomogram for clinical application, and the results suggest that the nomogram is a better predictive model for prognosis than immunoscore or TNM staging. http://bit.ly/2NCloKC

MOBILE CRUSHERS AND SCREENERS THE MARKET IS POISED TO REACH US$2.6 BN BY 2023.
The demand for mobile crushers and screeners is witnessing a steady rise across the world, thanks to the significant growth in the construction industry, globally. The increasing urbanization in emerging economies is likely to boost construction activities significantly, thereby fueling the demand for these crushers and screeners over the next few years. The escalating number of non-residential projects in emerging economies is also expected to drive the demand for these crushers and screeners in the years to come. However, the rising economic instability in various developed nations may hamper their adoption in the near future.
Overall, the opportunity in the mobile crushers and screeners market looks healthy, expanding at a CAGR of 3.72% during the period from 2015 to 2023 and increasing from US$2.08 bn in 2014 to US$2.6 bn by 2023.
