I think I can with certainty say I'm past the halfway point with this. there's not that much random dialogue left to make up
I can only hope the switch works as intended on other computers, since a different timing left them mid-transition. it seems like it doesn't interrupt the bubbles switch but it's only if the menu switch/shell reset comes at a specific point before it 🤔
sakurascript is really weird with calling functions, but I Think if you call it as a variable ( %(function) ) it doesn't interrupt the script?? maybe??

Do either Sun or Eclipse in your Menace4menace stories ever retract their rays?

Well, I don't think I've drawn it happen in any of my self indulgence specifically? But I did draw the bounty hunter with drawn in rays before, because I tend to give Sun and Eclipse that feature for practicality (makes things easier in terms of fitting places) but also as emotive feature.
I guess I never checked with Naff if they actually can do that, and don't remember if it ever happened in Sleuth Jesters or the derivatives, so I'm not sure if I'm being accurate there. But hope that answers your question!

omg tell me more about Aster
hello roy my beroy what would you like to know I have so many thoughts about this man he is living in my head rent free. tonetag system joke. anyway
the campaign setting is I think 5-6 years after the calamity at the end of empires smp s1 (the dm is @superioritycomplexes mon monarch my beloved mon monarch). Aster is a tiefling inquisitive rogue from Pixandria, where being a thief is the #1 taboo. he grew up as a weaver's son and then ended up becoming a thief/smuggler a few years after she died. his dad, Midas, was a wandering trader from Mythland who stopped visiting when Aster was two. Aster looks very similar to him (mickey mouse voice this is a surprise tool that will help us later)
speaking of which:
the silly! his jaw can unhinge heart emoji. he got his eyes and freckles from his mom and everything else from his dad
anyway it's later. remember when I said that Aster and Midas look very similar. anyway after he leaves Pixandria, Aster ends up living in Mythland for about five years using the alias Midas - what's a little identity theft between a son and his absent father?
yeah anyway when he's ~20 (one year post-Calamity), Aster gets hired to steal something from the Church of the Blood Sheep, the very prominent religion in Mythland. He steals it, gets caught and thrown in jail, escapes, resteals the artifact, and flees. job complete! money obtained! he drops the Midas alias and the Mythland wandering trader cover and avoids Mythland for the next five years.
fast forward to the actual campaign. the party has to go to Mythland as part of their quest. we arrive through the ruins of Gilded Helianthia and pass by the Coliseum on our way, where we see wanted posters of Aster's face with the name Midas. Aster is like Well! that makes things a little difficult! but he dyes his hair purple and puts on a full face mask and goes in the back way with Kite (@lunarblazes's character) (aka through where the dried and abandoned Codlands connect to Mythland)

What was the most paranormal/weird thing to happen to you?
My dad has more stories than me (and they’re much better), but mine was how my friends and I all decided to listen to spooky things at one of their houses, when we all agreed it was haunted
And we turned off the lights, because we’re smart 13-14 year olds
And at some point, after things were being weird, we heard a noise so we look. Me and someone else both saw a shadowy figure move from the right to the left

Normally, Aster had answers to all sorts of different questions, and if he didn’t, he usually wasn’t worried about admitting that. But a question like this…., well, it’s one of the things he’s struggled with for a while. He gets to know a lot of people, some of them quite well, but he doesn’t have many friends. And even fewer relationships throughout his life.
“I’m still just a person,” he says with a slightly lopsided smile. “I’m not immune to feeling lonely.” But how did he deal with it? He frequently just…..didn’t.
“There’s nothing wrong with having a few drinks and getting to know someone much better for an evening,” is what he says, offering a wink. Sometimes that helped him feel more of a sense of connection, but other times…., it just made it worse.
He’s very good at helping other people, but sometimes, he still has trouble with himself.

Are Ari Aster movies too intense for someone who has bad anxiety? I want to get into watching horror but I’m very sensitive
it's hard to say, i dont know how squeamish you are or if youre easily scared. his movies dont have jumpscares or anything like that, but they are graphic. although i will say that beau is afraid is definitely his least scary movie out of his three releases, with the least amount of graphic scenes. there are graphic scenes within that movie but they arent nearly as gratuitous as in hereditary or midsommar. hereditary is probably his scariest, but personally i didn't find that movie super scary either, it just has a really tense atmosphere. midsommar has the most graphic scenes, but none of them jump out at you, it's very apparent that they're about to happen so you have time to shield your eyes before seeing the grotesque images. to be honest, i still haven't watched the one graphic scene from midsommar even though i've seen that movie countless times lol (if you've seen midsommar, y'all know EXACTLY what scene i'm talking about. i shield my eyes every time i watch it).
to me, ari aster's films are more unsettling than scary, so if you're easily scared his films might be a good start to get you into the horror genre! it definitely kickstarted my interest in horror in general, as i'm also someone who's extremely squeamish and easily scared. as you explore the horror genre you'll grow less squeamish, i promise!!
if you wanna explore ari aster's films, i'd definitely recommend his short film "the strange thing about the johnsons" on youtube! it's a great introduction to his storytelling style in general, as it has all the general components of an ari aster film (i.e. familial trauma) without all the graphic head trauma that he's also known for lmao. if you like that short film, then you'll definitely like his other movies bc the theme of traumatic families is prevalent throughout his discography!

Hey so I love your writing so much and how you write characters a lot (they feel so alive and organic I love it) and I was wondering if you had any tips on characterizing?
Oh i did not see this until just barely so sorry for the late reply!
I love characterization so much, but as far as tips go, my best suggestion is... observation and practice, and a lot of cross-referencing with your past writing of that character, to create consistency. Having a clear understanding of their motives, their strong suits and their insecurities. I do just. So much thinking about my stories, I daydream. And I talk to people about them. for hours. it reveals things. Talk to a friend in a car for 2 hours in front of their house at 1 in the morning. You will have epiphanies.
As far as fanfiction goes, I think the best question to ask yourself is: what compels me the most about this character, or this character dynamic? and then really just get elbow deep in it. Right, how can I make these issues come to the surface?
And lastly, casual interactions are your best friend. The best way to make your writing feel grounded in reality is by... grounding it in reality? When your blorbos are seen doing sibling banter, or friendly ribbing, or whatever, your audience sees them more as real, alive, organic. And that loops back around to observation. Watch how real people interact. How you interact with your friends, ect.
I don't really know? Genuinely i just think about my stories so much like. they live rent free in my head 24/7.

Partly? yes! I’m not sure how much, if any, of them are “publicly” shared yet, but there’s a group of fans (that I’ve also joined) who’ve taken up transcribing each episode!
