‘Sunfyre and the pedophile have the strongest dragon-rider bond in Targaryen history’ when Daenerys, the MOTHER OF DRAGONS, literally BIRTHED IN THE FLAMES AND BREASTFEEDS her three dragons, HOTD truly created the most insane and delusional people I’ve ever seen.
The misogyny never really banked or went away, though.

Dragon timeee~!!! Been getting back into the groove of designing asoiaf based dragons, thanks house of the dragon blisstakes, and now I present creatures!!
The first set are all random designs that may get used in something or other, the second set are potential designs for the dragons of Bad, Skeppy and Antfrost in my silly dragon rider au - none of them have names but they now somewhat have designs!

(1) “Maybe you should’ve hired Hiccup, because you clearly didn’t know how to train your dragons”.
(2) “Ah yes, it was just bad writing that determined you would be a bad queen. Clearly you were shown to be good at ruling such as when you…ordered the destruction of your enemies again and again and again. And the sacking of cities. Hmm…maybe Sansa and Arya had a point.”
(3) “Aren’t you supposed to care for the Dothraki? I know I’d be pissed if I learned you let them go on a suicide run at the White Walkers.”

dragon intraspecies variation. vhagar and balerion are classic medievalist fantasy european dragons but seasmoke and dreamfyre--more associated with motifs of water--are chinese dragons.

More dragon foreshadowing/symbolism:
Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes = a black dragon, a green dragon, a pale dragon
Tyraxes, Vermax, Arrax = a black dragon, a green dragon, a pale dragon
Drogon, Rhaegal, Viserion = a black dragon, a green dragon, a pale dragon
What does it mean GRRM? WHAT DOES IT MEAN

Origin of Cannibal
I’m iffy about the dragon Cannibal being on Dragonstone before all other dragons.  People would have definitely known 100 percent that this dragon was around (especially with his tendency for devouring human flesh). It’s more likely that he could have been one of the five dragons brought over from Aenar Targaryen.  Though, Cannibal is a menace and would have attacked all young dragons and eggs. The founding Targaryens probably would have killed him to protect their own tamable dragons.
Personally, my headcanon is that Cannibal is Balerion and Vhagar’s son. He was conceived after Balerion and Aerea Targaryen’s mysterious return. Aerea was inflicted with a deadly wormlike sickness, while Balerion had half healed scars. What if Balerion had been mildly infected by something too? This could have passed on to Balerion’s offspring, hence Cannibal being a crazed cannibalistic nightmare. It’s not unheard of for unborn child to suffer from a condition because of something in the parent’s system (i.e. drugs or alcohol). Well, at least that’s my thinking.

TG talks about the supposed legendary bond between Aegon II and Sunfyre, but Stormcloud’s bond to Aegon III was an a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL.
Stormcloud was never ridden before, he was a baby, but he brought Aegon III safely home, even though there was a scorpion bolt through his neck and countless arrows in his belly. Stormcloud didn’t drop Aegon III at sea, he made sure his rider survived. He gave his own life to save Aegon. Now that’s a real strong bond between a dragon and his rider.
I honestly couldn't tell you why people insist on this bond, even with Sunfyre flying miles to get to Dragonstone while broken apart, gets credited as "strong" in the face of dragons like Stormcloud. I really don't, other than because Aegon III was Rhaenyra's son, people don't credit his much smaller and less mature dragon for saving a literal child's life. Because Rhaenyra was "incompetent" and "a fat whore"....even though Aegon never made a single correct decision the entire time he was king, definitely raped at least one girl and likely raped several more servant girls and women, was known to have been fat himself. But the sort of fat that comes from wealth (more access to food), drinking, and laziness.

Guys I've lost it, officially, I am deranged.

My personal headcanons for the rough guess-estimates for the sizes of ALL the Targaryen dragons from the reign of Viserys/Death of Balerion onwards minus Drogon, Rhegal & Viserion.
Every dragon is about where I'd imagine them to be before their death for the record and a lot of the sizes vary due to growing conditions - i.e were the dragons on dragonstone vs the dragon pit and similar factors.

Extremely tiny Syrax painting that was part of a set of dragon postcards I never got around to finishing. Might come back and repaint her on some larger paper for more details :)

Imagine if once a Dragon is bonded with a rider they can speak Valyrian. They will speak it to their Rider, maybe their Rider's partner or kids, sometimes to other rider, and the Keepers but rarely to anyone else. Not all Dragons will bother with full sentences and none will speak anything but Valyrian but they do understand most languages. If a Dragon is speaking Valyrian to another Dragon then they want to trash talk someone or gossip and for others to know they are doing so. They don't translate for unbound Dragons, it's rude.
