This piece was created in the fall of my first year as an masters student at Emily Carr University. It was inspired by a desire to see the world in and through layers. Each section of the box represents one distinct organic layer in my local ecosystem. 

I am continually inspired by the wildness of the suburban and metropolitan places I walk and they continue to find their way into the work that I make. 

I had the pleasure of delivering Baby Thalia's gift myself. The look of surprise on the new dad's face when I presented him with gifts will always be a moment I remember. Years ago my husband helped me create a template for the top of this carousel 🎠 It is made of foam board and cardstock then embellished with coordinating decor. Fun fact: this is the only gift that requires me to use a drill.
