When I was 8 I fell on the road outside my school and skinned my elbow and my mother yelled at me for crying and said that other kids get hurt worse and don't cry. I was so confused and in so much pain.
Anyway I had to be taken to the ER.
Can we stop telling little kids that they're pain is invalid and they're overreacting. The other thing that sticks out to me from that day is the ER doctor being so gentle with me and giving me candy.
Maybe the wound wasn't "too bad" but I was eight. I was a child.

Only the Beginning
Elain hummed quietly to herself, adjusting the flower crown on her head as she waited for Lucien to come home. He had noticed something had been off about her lately and while he hadn’t pushed her to share, Elain knew it was bothering him not to know.
Nothing was wrong, of course. Elain was just trying to surprise him and he was terrible at waiting to be surprised. She was also terrible at hiding surprises.
Elain was seated by their little patio table in the garden and she tapped it for Cinnamon to climb up and settle next to the gift beautifully wrapped on the table.
“Now sit still, Cinnamon. This has to be perfect.” Elain mumbled to their cat who only meowed in response as Elain settled a custom-made flower crown on the cat’s head. By now, Cinnamon knew better than to rip it off —Elain had trained her well.
The two waited, Elain closing her eyes, letting the afternoon sun wash over her. Moments later, Lucien’s voice called out.
“Elain?”
“In the garden, love.” she replied and turned to face him when he neared, smiling. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips then paused.
“What’s this?” he asked, his gaze shifting curiously between the wrapped box to Cinnamon and her flower crown.
Suddenly nervous, Elain fiddled with her own. “It’s a surprise. Cinnamon and I put it together for you.” she replied and Lucien chuckled.
“You and Cinnamon, hm?”
“We’re a team.” Elain said, petting the cat slowly. “Open it.”
Lucien met her gaze and she knew he could see how nervous she was. Though she had no reason to be. There was nothing to be nervous about, that much she knew. Still.
His hand came to rest over hers. “You alright? Things have been odd for a few days…is there anything you want to talk about it?” he asked her quietly and she shook her head with a chuckle.
“No. I want you to open your gift. I — you’ll understand when you open it.”
Lucien looked at her for another heartbeat then brought her hand to his lips, kissing it gently. “Alright.”
She smiled at him and gently pushed the box towards him. Lucien opened the lid and then looked at her curiously.
“You’re this nervous to give me a flower crown?” he asked and she rolled her eyes.
“There’s more under it! Put it on then look again!” She urged him and he immediately obeyed, adjusting his own flower crown on his head and then he paused.
Lucien paused and Elain bit her lip, holding her breath.
It was like time had stopped and Elain’s heart was beating way too fast for it to be alright, her eyes never wavering off her mate, who was still staring inside the box.
“Well?” she finally whispered after a lifetime of silence and Lucien slowly looked up at her.
“This is real?” he asked her in a hoarse whisper and she nodded, beaming.
“Real.”
For inside the box, Elain had placed an additional flower crown. A smaller one. With a card settled in the middle of the crown that said: Roses are red, violets are blue. Inside me, beats two hearts for you.
“We’re having a baby.” Lucien stated and Elain nodded.
“Yes.”
“We’re having a baby.” he repeated, a finger pointing between the two of them, and Elain nodded again with a laugh.
“Yes!”
“We’re having a baby!” Lucien exclaimed, shooting out of his seat, causing Cinnamon to dart off the patio table with a screech.
“Yes!” Elain confirmed with a laugh, happy tears lining her eyes and Lucien let out a noise of disbelief before falling to his knees in front of his wife. He leaned in, cupping her face, and kissed her furiously then pulled back, still holding her face.
“You’re pregnant with our baby.” he whispered to her, his face lit with joy and she sniffled with a watery smile, her hands coming over his.
“I found out last week but swore Madja to secrecy.” Elain whispered in response. “I wanted to surprise you.”
“I — I am so happy. I don’t think words could — Elain — a baby — “ he stuttered and she giggled, leaning in to kiss his lips softly.
“I know…I know.” she replied, words failing both of them at the moment.
The two could only gaze at each other, eyes full of love, hope, excitement, and joy all in one.
“I am so in love with you. And thrilled for our future.”
“Good, because there’s more.”
“More?”
“I had a vision a few days ago.” she said slowly and Lucien’s back straightened.
“And?”
“Our dream of a house full of bouncy, beautiful kids?”
“Yes?” he asked breathlessly.
“It’s going to come true.”
“Yes?”
“Yes.”
“Are they happy?”
“All I saw was laughter and love.” she answered softly. “But I didn’t need a vision to tell me that’s how it’ll be.”
And Lucien couldn’t hold back anymore. He rested his head in his wife’s lap and broke down in tears. Tears of joy, that he was going to be given such a beautiful gift. A chance to have a family. A family that will only know love.
And this was only the beginning.

i did NOT linger on ch402-405 long enough because as far as i can tell katsuki brought himself back right before all might was brought over by all for one, right? but with the distance, he wouldn't have seen them, nor did he have any sufficient means of closing such a distance THAT fast. so how did he know to go to the ledge and observe below?
either those on the field told him where izuku was, or he heard izuku scream for all might. or BOTH - which is more plausible, because yes, he can trust izuku will win, but with all might in danger and dragged toward ua by all for one, it put everything in jeopardy.
and so what do you mean katsuki bakugou, dynamight, symbol of victory, likely heard izuku's cry for help from below, and charged straight to him - trusted that he would be pointed in the right direction? what do you MEAN he probably heard the desperation in izuku's voice the moment he breathed life again, and his first thoughts were; izuku is in trouble. all might is in trouble.
katsuki didn't even give himself time to live again before he went into another life-or-death fight, because what follows is that he doesn't just save all might from all for one's clutches. he goes to end all for one so he'll never achieve his goal.
because those two people are the largest testament to the man he's become, and he'll defend them with his life - like he did before.

Okay so what bothers me the most is three things:
How the hell did this man go from the bottom of the Japan Trench to main crew?!?!?
Like am i missing something? Bc the last time I checked it was in kenny's hands in Shibuya- and I know neither noritoshi nor tsukomo managed to snatch it back. I know i haven't been going that closely these past few arcs but i feel like i would've noticed if they retrieved it??? I just hate that this happened off screen 😑
They've been fighting for a month (3 YEARS) and it only took 3 minutes to unseal him?!?
Where's the pizzazz, the drama? At least we should've got a cool explanation on how Angel's technique works, man idk. All that buildup for nothing, it's so lackluster 😒

I understand why he's maintaining his composure with kenjaku- man thought about his ex for 30 seconds and was locked away with swiftness- but towards megumi? His younger brother-more-than-son but still someone he mentored and spent a lot of time with.
It's implied that sorcerers/ curses can probably see the extra eyes or mouth of Sukuna but the marks are likey only distinguishable for us readers. So Gojo must've sensed Sukuna's rank vibes immediately and went on the offensive.

I clicked on a video essay about Snow White and off the rip, the guy called Snow White a "passive domestic weirdo with no personality" and quickly figured out he is one of THOSE critics. there sure are a number of transfems extremely comfortable with talking about transmascs and their experiences like they get to be the arbiters of our oppression because they are also trans. i don't think that's how that works. trans people as a whole do have a lot of overlapping experiences, and transfems are oppressed under transmisogyny, which involves plenty that i don't relate to or understand. like there aren't hordes of caricatures of trans men in the media used as a punchline (i don't think i can even think any frankly), so i have no idea what that would be like. i don't get to be the one who defines what that experience is or means. it would be nice if those people (and i do mean those people because it certainly is not every single transfem on this website) could also do that.
i think the community would be a lot healthier if everyone just stopped talking over one another all the time, cause there sure are transmascs doing the same shit in reverse. there will be transmascs hopping onto a trans woman's post to 'debunk' things that i know we as a group do not experience. erasure operates differently from hypervisibility. i also know i have my own blindspots inevitably because i can only be me, but i dont think that transmascs doing this (bad) means that transfems don't and it isn't like. also a bad thing for them to do.
idk. this community feels fucked six ways to sunday. half the time you go into any trans tag ever to keep up with the entire community you not only have to block actual terfs on their perpetual bullshit but you also have to read 60000 posts made by trans people indirectly arguing with and talking over other trans people with some of the most bad faith reads of your own community imaginable. like. real 'i like pancakes' 'so you hate waffles' energy. the idea that a trans person who is different than you might say something in a clumsy way, or made a typo, or was half-asleep, or was uninformed about a particular nuance, or just maybe has natural, obvious limitations in how they can understand or experience the world because a person can only ever be the person they already are, none of that can ever happen! if someone says something and i don't get it, or i disagree, or whatever it is, it is malicious attack on my dignity and principles, they are the real enemies trying to oppress me and keep me down and they must be destroyed.

i am thinking about. how henry spends the entire movie proving he is capable and also correct not as a matter of conceit but in order to accomplish his goals and how most of the people in the movie call him 'boy' anyway as a way of undermining him but actually it's not until the actual dad figures in the movie take control of the situation for the sake of their kids that you see that kid side of him (the 10 year old going 'I want you to come home' while soaked and shivering) again, like.

and then nine years later it's all certainty and brashness
and people are calling him "boy" but who are they talking to because it's not him, surely?
not this young man pushing and pulling and powering forward, everyone else in tow, surely?

A happy update on Jade! (If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's part one which is very long if you read the whole thing, and a 'things are getting better' part two.) I'll put it under the cut since it's still about a sick kitty, even though she's doing a lot better.
She had a vet appointment earlier this week, and I was right she has gained some weight back. The infection she had is fully cleared. Which I'm very glad of, I didn't relish the thought of giving her another round of antibiotics. But the best news is her kidney function has improved some! So the prescription kidney food we switched her to has helped, which is great!
I'd say her behavior is about 95% back to normal. She even started playing again last week, which almost had me crying from joy! And she's been a lot more demanding of attention, as well as more talkative again.
Honestly, for being around 12 years old I think Jade bounced back pretty fast! I'm not going to lie, I was really worried there for a while. So I'm really thankful she's stabilized for now. We'll do everything we can for her to keep her as happy and healthy as possible, for as long as possible.
#it's nice to have some concrete proof that Jade is doing better besides just how she's behaving#y'all have no idea how relieved I am to see such a big improvement!#we've adopted her over 11 years ago and she's the sweetest cutest cat ever#it's so hard to imagine life without her and I'm so glad I don't have to yet#I think it would be reasonable to assume I named her given my love of geology and semi-precious and precious rocks and minerals#but actually the cat rescue we adopted her from named her Jade for her green eyes#someone once told me that was because she was meant to be our cat and that comment has stuck with me ever since#Jade#sick cat
