FOCUS ON APPLE WATCH: WHAT'S ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT?

Apple released the Focus app on January 24th to help users monitor and manage their screen time. The Focus application has been well received by many people who have found it helpful in managing their digital addiction. Focus is a free, self-guided program that can be customized for individual needs and used at home or in schools. It includes tools like Apple's Screen Time (which limits the amount of time you spend using your iPhone) as well as notifications when you're nearing your daily limit.

What if I told you that wearing your Apple Watch could change your day from stressful to relaxed simply by changing one little thing: where you place its sensors. You might think this sounds too good to be true. It can be difficult to focus on a task when there are so many things clamoring for your attention. How do you stay attentive in the workplace? How do you keep focused at home?

Focus also includes a Focus Wheel with four modes that you can customize to best suit your personal habits. The Focus application is self-guided and customizable for individual needs, which is one of the reasons why it has been so well received by many people who are finding it helpful in managing their digital addiction. However, in watchOS 8, you can't actually create new a new Focus like you can in iOS 15, but rather set your Apple Watch (and other devices) to follow whichever Focus you've already set up. It can keep track of time around the world; if someone sends you money via Pay Pal or Venmo, they'll show up as a contact with their last known location so you know whom to call for help if something goes wrong.

How to set a Focus on Apple Watch

You can easily set a Focus right from your wrist on your Apple Watch to any of the Focuses you've created on your iPhone. Swipe up on your Apple Watch face to bring up the Apple Watch control center. Tap on Focus. It's the crescent moon icon.
