“I think people ought to know that we’re anti-fascist, we’re anti-violence, we're anti-racist and we’re pro-creative. We’re against ignorance.” Joe Strummer

Tyrant with a hollow crown
21,000 children died today of disease, illness, starvation, and murder. This is everyday according to world statistics. Over 300,000 people died in the last decade due to Earthquakes and tsunamis. Not to mention hurricanes and typhoons. Those numbers dwarf the 2,977 people who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. Now I'm not disregarding their lives, in no way at all am I dishonoring those who died that day. But I am saying, compare the amount of sadness the U.S. felt and still feels towards those attacks. We barely mourn the deaths of those in other parts of the world anymore but the tragedy of 9/11 is repeated on our television sets every year. 300,000 is a huge number. Its about 1/3 of a million people. That's 1 out of 3 people in the state of Hawai'i dying. What I'm trying to get at is, why do we not feel any animosity towards the natural disasters and their victims? Is it because its "natural" and it cannot be helped? Or is it because somewhere deep down, embedded, in our culture we think that God took these people away because he had a plan for them? Of course it's foolish to think that we could feel any animosity to a tsunami or hurricane but I'm sure people affected by it did. It is frustrating when someone explains how little good things that happen to them in their lives contribute to God blessing them. Really? Statistically, a child probably just lost their life, or a girl was sexually assaulted. Was your good day really more important than their well being? We are privileged people because we are born in a country that has spent the last century bullying the world. You had an equal chance of being born in a third world country, or as the opposite gender. Men are born with privileges denied to women in all parts of the world. People don't think in statistics and I don't ask them to but these culture of apathy and mediocrity has to stop. You can't say A is caused by B without considering all the variables and to justify your life with that kind of mind set is just being lazy. Really think about it. You find 20 bucks on the ground, "cool beans, I can buy a new sweater or a video game or a ton of tacos" but how much thought goes into who dropped it? Was it some rich bastard who would've spent it on an organic salad and fresh squeezed juice from Whole Foods (not generalizing everyone who eats there, I do too on occasion)? Or was it a single mother who was hoping to buy dinner for her 2 kids. Or was it a child who got 20 bucks for his birthday from his grandma or was it a college student that was going to spend it on tacos anyway? The statistics go on and on. I'm not telling you to feel bad about spending that 20 bucks you found on tacos, pizza, and/or beer. Just don't attribute it to God or anything of the sort especially in the realm of money. You got lucky. If you want you can pay it forward, if you don't then whatever. Just get rid of the fucking mindset that the world is your bitch or something. Its not. You can't control anything that happens in the world, only how you react to it. Statistics and probability exist and are one of the main reason's I don't believe in a higher power. Its not evolution or the big bang. Its simple statistics with a little logic. I do not believe because there are people who do believe who are starving and I am able to sit here and bitch about ignorance. I do not believe because someone who believes just got the news that they have cancer. I do not believe because there are women who are making significantly less money due to their gender. I do not believe because a cat just got hit by a car and people are still driving over its dead body. I do not believe because a teen just made the decision to drop his art when his guidance counselor told him he wouldn't make any money. I do not believe because a father just decided to not be a part of his child's life. I do not believe because we live in a culture where wealth defines success. A God who graces all his faithful believers yet leaves children in third world countries to the wolves is not a loving father, it is a tyrant.

Getting back to basics
When you are healing from a relationship gone wrong. Seek healing from God. And find yourself. Seeking comfort in another person is unhealthy and unfair.. Rebound relationships never work. They are momentary feelings of false comfort..
