Lanling is a good boy and person overall.
Because I cannot tolerate Lanling slander anymore. I might as well make another defense later but this is a mini defense. Who would hate this sweetheart?
Tumblr media
First of all, I’m downright disappointed that LB3 was a mistake and that they treated his character like shit. He isn’t the only one. Liangyu, Yu, Xiang Yu, and literally everyone else is treated like shit.
I really don’t like how they treated my boy. Or anyone else who isn’t QSH for that matter.
But I really hate when people say he (Lanling) is outright evil or a complete asshole with no redeeming qualities yet will praise worse villains. He’s really not a bad guy. He’s just a man who wants his master to be happy. But deep inside, he doesn’t hate us.
The reason being is the fact that when Goredolf and everyone else in Chaldea was imprisoned, is the fact that he showed sympathy for both his master and for us. Yet people slander him like crazy. Especially on Reddit. For instance:
“I know I'll end up getting downvoted to hell for this but, of the 3 crypter servants shown so far Lanling in my opinion has been the worst and most boring one.
LB1 you've got Anastasia who had an interesting character she showed her cold noble side yet when alone with Kadoc she would sometimes show a sassy side or a sweet caring side. then you also look at her abilities she had style, she had ice magic and a badass snow beast guardian spirit (Viy).
LB2 you've got "Sigurd" who was a badass dragon slayer knight who hunted us down like the Terminator and was constantly kicking the crap out of us and nearly killed us a few times. then plot twist you find out it wasn't actually Sigurd in control but, a giant god of fire and destruction and the actual Sigurd was still  a badass Dragon slayer knight but, was also a friendly gentleman who alongside his wife helped us fight the evil god.
LB3 you've got Prince Lanling who for the most part was a pretty boy, yes man the entire LB who harassed us a lot but, really wasn't all that intimidating and constantly had to retreat and run with his tail between his legs. hell even his death sucked, he ended up dying being a glorified juice box with a pretty face for the angsty vampire with a fetish for the cyborg centaur wannabee dark souls boss.” (ironically, this post got really upvoted for the slander)
Anastasia (don’t get me wrong, I love her but this is the truth) outright hates us and wants us dead. She blames us for the death of her family. The entire human race. She is also responsible for killing and destroying Chaldea. Nonetheless, she and Kadoc have a good relationship and they get along like siblings.
Sigurd wasn’t written by Urobutcher so he got a good chance of helping us. Surtr, on the other hand hates us and treats his own master like trash. As for his master Ophelia, she doesn’t hate Mash so she has redeeming qualities.
Lanling is just a victim of his own story. Considering how Urobutcher treated Diarmuid, he has everything against pretty boy twinks. As for Lanling, sure, he harassed us and why did he do so? He was following orders. He isn’t the man to go against orders unless told to do so. The reason he wasn’t so intimidating is because unlike the previous crypters’ servants (for the record, Sigurd doesn’t count because Ophelia’s true servant was Surtr and the type moon wiki says that he’s only Ritsuka’s servant), he doesn’t outright hate us or want to kill us. The scene where he attempts to assassinate us but can’t bring himself to do so is proof of that and like I said before, he isn’t the man who wants us dead or locked in a cell with Tamamo Vitch. The reason he fought us anyway is because he’s a man who follows orders (and because that fox is a total bitch who annoys him too.)
The main problem is the fact that despite his somewhat good relationship with Hinako, she isn’t a good master and her team comps are terrible. Lanling with Guda isn’t weak at all, he is actually pretty badass and good at supporting us.
The reason his death sucked was because he was thrown out, nobody in the story cared about him, and he was basically treated as a punching bag turned into a plot device. Lostbelt 3 is terrible in my opinion because of how mistreated he was as a character. Not just him, but Liangyu was also shit on hard. If it ever gets an anime, it should have a writer who is good to all the characters overall other than QSH. QSH, while I do like them, they are the biggest creator’s pet in this lostbelt and thanks to them, no one else really got to shine except for a select few.
Honestly, I hate LB3 so much that I wanna make a fix it fanfic. One where Lanling isn’t treated like shit, one where Liangyu is conflicted with fighting alongside the emperor, and QSH is a male with his original design and never redeems himself because of how cruel he is. Yet so many people on Reddit are against this idea because LB3 is “good” to them. WTF? You do realize there are people who were disappointed with the ending for GOT for said reasons but when the story is by Urobutcher, it’s fine?!?!?!?!
Haven’t you forgotten Aldnoah Zero exists? That anime was a trash heap because all the characters who were supposed to die didn’t and were just there. No one really had any character development except a few characters. And it was written by the same writer.
Yet Urobutcher is a god when writing LB3 somehow.
I get QSH as a character, I really do. But I really liked Lanling (and everyone else but Tamamo Vitch) a lot more. The reason being is the fact that he’s got insecurities about his appearance, is shy and introverted, is most likely a crybaby, and suffers from back pain. He also loves horses the way I love other animals and not just horses for me. He is also not too bad with children (at least how I see it). Sure, he may not be the grand saber Muramasa but he was an important character to the story in my heart. Honestly, I hope he redeems himself in the story later on, considering how many characters did redeem themselves in the story.
I’ll definitely defend him for some of the newer reasons later.

Oberon's skills.... And anti-class will really break the whole game if he does have it, which he doesn't....
But basically Oberon's third skill is a permanent lock for position based until end of certain turns? Cant even be sacrificed, damn...
Oh hey, I'm seeing Vortigern still growing strong that you better not pair him with Merlin LOLOLOLOLOLOL 😂😂😂

Foreigner Lore
From this reddit post (I didn’t read the Gogh stuff cause spoilers): https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/ju25rb/i_summarized_some_important_plot_points_about/
The redditor is paraphrazing Gilles, who was already simplifying things that he learned from Prelati, so take everything with a grain of salt.
No particularly new info that we hadn't already known or been able to infer, though it is interesting to know that they aren't conceptually immortal. They are not Immune to the concept of Death (DOKO DA), they're just fucking big and hard to kill. The info on the Outer Gods making the Foreigners into Anti-Heroes is really interesting.Cause unlike other Divinities, the Outer Gods have no involvement in human history, no Heroic Spirits, aside from Gilles and Prelati, associated with them. But by tampering with proper Heroic Spirits, they gain an entryway/foothold. Demon God Pillar Raum introduced Abigail Williams as a vessel to Yog-Sothoth in the maddened realm that was the Salem Singularity. The Evil God Of The Abyss offered Hokusai power and a chance to see his sort of insane beauty, which Hokusai rejected. BB and Nyarlathotep met and formed some sort of agreement/mutual vibing. And aside from knowing that it’s Cthuga she’s associated with (who doesn’t get along with Nyarlathotep), we don’t know much about Yang Guifei’s Foreigner origins.

Commentary:
Watch out! It's the Noble Phantasm of Learning with Manga's Rider!!!
This is more or less what happened exactly.
The lab wasn't well insured against fire damage due to Thomas believing his reinforced concrete buildings to be nigh-inflammable.
Edison, his family, and his staff did what they could to save precious assets from the facilities in the fire's path. Mina herself kept going in and out of the Labs' general offices to retrieve important documents until the fire reached that building too.
Edison put a brave face during the blaze. When it was clear that they wouldn't be able to halt it before it did major damage but before they knew that at least half of the facility would remain, he said the above quote. He even told his son that the fired would help them get rid of some "old rubbish". And he probably believed both of the things he said to an extent.
He even had a rather ruefully humorous quote for the press when they finally arrived: "I am pretty well BURNED OUT tonight, but tomorrow there will be a mobilization and the debris will be cleared away if it is cooled sufficiently, and I will go right to work to reconstruct the plant." For this apparent unflappability in the face of what seemed like utter ruin (the papers had a field day with this incident), the New York Times made a special editorial about Edison titled, "Abnormality Like His a Blessing".
True to his word, he immediately had his employees and their pertinent equipment move to undamaged buildings or other temporary working facilities to get his operations running again. No one, not even the 72-man on-site firefighting team that couldn't stop the initial conflagration, was fired.
The exact cost of the damages incurred have ranged from as low as $900,000 to as high as $7,000,000 in 1914 money. That's $23,217,390 to $180,579,700 in today's prices at the time of this writing. Accounts (if you'll pardon the pun) vary.
With a small loan from Ford, Edison was able to get his improvised labs running at full cylinders, accruing about $10,000,000 in revenue in 1915. Triumphant in a vacuum, if a little bittersweet in context of what was happening across the pond.
The sole casualty of the West Orange Fire was one Willian Troeber, who rushed back into a burning building with a fire extinguisher because he erroneously believed that some of his coworkers were still inside.
Upon hearing about the West Orange Fire, Tesla sent Edison a telegram saying: "As one of the millions of your admirers, I send you my sympathy. It is not only a personal and national loss, but a world loss, for you have been one of its greatest benefactors."
This comic was nearly just the last two panels, but I thought a little edutainment would heighten the comedy in the end.
It's a real shame that Edison wasn't part of your posse in the Russian Lostbelt. As a fellow part-beast, electricity-obsessed, vulgarly-dressed leader of a nation, he would have made a wonderful foil to Ivan, who even shares his color scheme to an extent. Blue Collar vs. Aristocrat. President vs. Monarch. Science vs. Magic. Agnostic vs. Religious. Edison's own superhero aesthetic (and Caster Class) could even make Ivan the Doomsday to his Superman.
On a more serious note, with over a dozen anti-Russian presidents swimming around in his Mystic Code, the typically unwarlike Edison would initially be gung-ho about getting a chance to blow up the whole parallel universe until the scrappy nobility of the local Yaga (and reminding himself that Helena was also Russian) would cause him to have second thoughts.
I hope you enjoy the "star formation" of the American Servants in the last panel.
Happy Presidents' Day!

fgo theory is caster cu really odin
comments :
There is also the 10 bond CE for him being the Yggdrasil Tree, which is very Norse. (the fact he needs a bunch of Yggdrasil seeds may also be a bit of a hint.) Interestingly, the Wickerman festivals were held throughout Europe (Areas such as England and Scotland) and were regarded as a neo-pagan festivity. Chances are, if CasCu really is Odin, it is highly likely he will take action in the English Lostbelt second part. I think itd be really cool, but if that was the case itd be more likely Cu caster was a Cu-Odin fusion similar to Scathach-Skadi. We know its within Odin's ability to do a fusion like this due to how he did the same for Skadi. It also explains how caster cu retains the protection from arrows and disengage skills. It also makes more sense how he's kept his identity a secret, because it's not false that he is Cu.
www . reddit . com/r/grandorder/comments/lkw9xm/summary_of_the_caster_cu_chulainnodin_theory/
At absolutely no point does he ever give his name or makes any mention to it.
Other Servants who initially don't give their names say that they'll give it to you later. Caster does not even bring up the subject.
In the Garden of Sinners crossover event, he says "there's no Cú Chulainn here". It's treated as a gag, but...
In the Singularity F Memorial Quest, he's the only Servant referred to by his Class name instead of his True name.
In Lostbelt 6 he finally introduces himself... as Grimnir. This is an alias that Odin uses in the Grímnismál.
He's not supposed to be the Caster of the Fuyuki Grail War in the first place. In the original reality, it's Medea, while in FGO reality it's Solomon. Material states that Singularity F is the result of data colliding, and Caster resulted from that. However, in that case it should be either Solomon or Medea who appear in Singularity F, not Cú Chulainn.
One of his lines goes as following: "Isn't bit boring to play a game that never ends? For better or for worse, it's like you can't move the pieces forward, yeah?" Is he talking about Singularity F? At any rate, this sounds weird.
His Final Ascension art and animation update features two white wolves. Odin is stated to have two wolves named Geri and Freki.
His second Noble Phantasm, which he mentions in one of his My Room lines, is called "Ochd Deug Odin - Seal of the Great God". It's an exceedingly powerful Rank A Anti-Fortress Noble Phantasm with potentially Game Breaking effects, but what's interesting is its description: it activates by chanting its True Name and using all 18 primordial runes granted by Scáthach at once (keep in mind she taught him the Norse ones) and it "temporarily unleashes the power of the rune possessed by the Great Odin". Aside from the weirdness of him even having that Noble Phantasm in the first place (he's not supposed to have Wickerman either, but at least we get an explanation for that), why can't he use it? (Potential Game-Breaker status not withstanding).
In the North America version of the game, his Bond Craft Essense is called "Yggdrasil Tree". That's taken from Norse Mythology, so why would a Celt have it?
In addition, the Yggdrasil tree has a particularly strong tie to Odin. The Ygg bit is another name for him, and according to legend at some point he hanged himself from one of its branches to gain wisdom.
For some reason, he's in the Nordic Fields during Boudica's 3rd Strengthening Quest.
During Valentine's Day in the return gift scene, he talks about the Human Order Incineration and the Human Order Reorganization - a.k.a. the Lostbelts. Somehow he knew about the Lostbelts before the game even got to that point.
In the 2019 Valentine's event, he's seen reading the book "Scandinavia's Beautiful Mountains".
In the FGO mats, Sigurd takes special notice of him and then has a Double Take. He also seems confused about him in his material profile. The fact that Sigurd noticed Caster is odd, but it should also be noted that Sigurd encountered Odin a number of times in his legend, thus making him one of the most likely people to recognize him.
Scáthach's Interlude brings up a LOT of questions. The regular Lancer Cú Chulainn says that his power is reduced because half his Saint Graph is missing. Mash suggests that the reduction in power may be because he was separated in numerous classes, but Lancer Cú is surprised that he can be summoned as a Caster. In addition, there are several Servants summonable in numerous classes, and none of them has this problem. There's a possibility that the other half of the Saint Graph went to Caster, and he's using an external source to stabilize it.
According to the Arcade version of FGO, it's impossible for any version of Cú Chulainn to be summoned without Gáe Bolg or the skill "Martial Arts Disciplining in the Shadow Country". Yet Caster has neither, thus making him an impossible summoning.
Not very noticeable in the English version, but he occasionally slips into using the "washi" pronoun during dialogue. For those who might not know, "washi" is actually pretty formal, and contrasts Cú Chulainn's much more casual "ore".
A lot of his official art has him looking subtly different that the other versions of Cú Chulainn.
He has lighter-coloured hair in all of his artwork, and Fate/Grand Carnival gives him wrinkles under the eyes. This trait is usually used in anime to show a character around 40-50 years old; an age that Cú Chulainn never reached.
In his card art and formal outfit card, his eyes are almost orange rather than red. In addition, one eye is always at least partially hidden.
In his April Fool's card, he has different facial features than the rest of the Cú Chulainns.
Tying to the above, Odin is known for disguising himself as an older man, usually a wizard, in a hood, and he's missing an eye. Missing eye aside, Caster fits most of that criteria, and as pointed out above, most his art hides his eye anyway. Odin gave said eye in exchange for wisdom, and there are a few remarks that Caster is getting smarter.
In the original Fate/stay night, Emiya draws a connection between Gáe Bolg and Odin's spear, Gungnir. Considering that he has picked up things like Rho Aias and Caladbolg, we can probably take him at his word. In his animation update, Caster throws his staff above the enemies heads, and then it changes tragectory to attack them from behind. While this could easily be a reference to Gáe Bolg's actual method of killing in the myth (it entered the victim through the asshole), it could also be a reference to how Odin would throw Gungnir above the heads of his enemies to declare a war.
Another detail from his animation upgrade is that his Instant Runes often take the form of a Valknut; this symbol according to some scholars is associated with Odin.
There are overall several indications that Caster will play a significant role later in the story: he's featured in the trailer of Lostbelt 6 and received his animation update during the Lostbelt 6 livestream, and Word of God has implied several times that we will be returning to Singularity F at some point.
Tying to the above, in one of My Room conversations, he say's he'll teach you how to use Runes later. Maybe it's not Blatant Lies after all.
Caster and Odin share several personality traits. Both of them are known as "the raging one", are strongly tied with the concept of war, magic, and wisdom, and both of them are The Gadfly - as Caster displays in Singularity F when he tries to get Mash to activate her Noble Phantasm. In addition, in various events Caster seems to have a gambling problem, which is also one of Odin's traits. Not to mention "summon me as a Lancer" works for Odin too.
The recent Lostbelt 6 update also adds fuel to the fire. In My Room dialogues, Scáthach tells him that his Rune magic is slightly different from what she taught him. He asks Sigurd not to look at him with the glasses, when he sees Brynhildr he muses that this must be fate/karma and specifically refers to Scáthach-Skadi as "Lostbelt Skadi."
His new battle lines from the same update are just as interesting.
"Witness the essence of the Rune magecraft taught by Scáthach... Sure, let's go with that." Along with Scáthach accusing him of his Rune magic being different, this could easily imply that he didn't learn them from her.
Another line is that "he doesn't have the noose of his neck anymore". As an above point states, this Odin did this to learn his runes. The noose bit also never happened to Cú Chulainn.
One of his victory lines references "wolves and crows" and that he has "no idea what they're talking about". The crows part could be a reference to the story of Cú Chulainn's death, which features a crow sitting on his corpse, but the whole quote seems to better reference Odin and his pets; the wolves Geri and Freki, and the crows Huginn and Muninn.
Lostbelt 6 also gives his a buff to his Disengage skill. More specifically, it's actually two buffs that activate back-to-back, with the first called "At the Fountain" and the second called "Sacrifice to the World Tree". Very specific, game.
In Lostbelt 2, it is outright stated that it was Odin who fused Skadi and Scáthach together. Who says he never did it before?
