I kinda think the kiss was a little bit of a.... not fan service moment from Lisa but more of an acknowledgement saying to the fans of the pairing that she hears them so here's a Thing but the rest of the show isn't about That, you know? And the fans can run with it any which way they want to but the story onscreen will remain focused on the group and the friendships. Sort of like a televisual fic prompt, haha. I was a tad thrown by the kiss myself because I didn't think the scene was earned by the episodes between the prom and it, but it was still great and Michelle's reaction had me rolling so it's all good. But yeah, I'm glad the show remained true to itself to the end too, I think she landed the almost "choose your own adventure" aspect to them well in the final finale
