Those who looked human but were not human were not a foreign sight to Hel who could pick them out easily. When one could see souls it was not difficult to distinguish between individuals. But the boy she Hel watched now was different than any being she had seen in quite some time. She watched for a moment before approaching him. “I beg your pardon, but I haven’t seen your kind in a very long time.”

At Fall Of Night
“You need to spend time crawling alone through shadows to truly appreciate what it is to stand in the sun.” ― Shaun Hick
[ ϟ ]—– Akin to a boar stuffed to the brim with forest’s treasures he had settled by the hearth, massive form slack and beard gleaming where ale had clung to bristles of auburn and gold.
Heat, but more so the promise of sustenance, had coaxed the god to the earl’s home, and within it song and stories had kept him amused well into the night, exchange of both resonating within the hall. It was the most pleasant ensnaring of the senses, rarely found outside of battle, and he indulged in it with roaring laughter, reveling in the sensations.
Such was the devotion of his folk, such power lay within that joy, that even battle wrath was soothed, subdued for a brief moment in time.
And yet, not even sated weight within belly could keep the urge to rise from blossoming, freedom and fresh air an eternal beckoning his mildly hazed mind could not resist. Warning and more offerings were ignored then, with a beaming smile and vague gesture, reassurance offered he would return, one day...
Darkness enveloped slightly swaying form, and beneath heavy steps did the earth rustle, yielding ever so slightly to the thick soles. With each inhale lungs expand with crisp air, oxygen-rich and so filling it turns veils within his skull thicker, and his chuckle is a heavy, rumbling sound voicing his merriment.
Perhaps the earl’s ales and mead had been laced with more than herbs and spices, and he ignores the flicker of shadows in favor of forcing his sight on the path before him, sounds of the night mingling with yet another chortling sound from mighty chest. Limbs sway in barely controlled fashion, balance constantly sought as he moves onward, gloom growing thicker and surroundings transforming into a blanket of ebony and grey.

Ebony hair billowed behind her,    swept up by the salt-scented sea-breeze that followed her even in-land. It brought some semblance of life to the long,  limp tresses that so often framed her face like dead coral.  Pallid skin stretched too finely over hard, angular bone,   drawing prominence to the rich red, tight-lipped smile. Hidden, her tongue dragged along a row of razor-edged teeth; their sharpness was deceptive, and far too often underestimated.  Blood beaded to the surface, the sharp tang of iron soon mingling with salt on her taste-buds. Sea-foam eyes never left the one before her, as murky as the deepest depths of the ocean.   “------ To approach me without tribute would be unwise,” spoke the Mother of Waves, and her voice, lilting and musical, was discordant in its sweetness.  For a fleeting moment, she stood beautiful and regal, the fairest of maidens. Her smile widened, and the predatory flash of teeth saw the illusion die a swift death,  her form shimmering and ever-changing, dangerous and alluring both.

if it helps, real people do have contrasting personality traits / act differently around different people; there's no formula. :)
being reminded this actually really does help ;v; but i mean there Can be a certain line that people can draw, like if the traits are TOO contrasting ... idk when but that’s when i’d usually get worried ;v; (i mean you might have seen Those posts before if you know which ones i’m referring to??)

real people are complex, dude! not everything is black and white! I have the same thing when I'm writing robin and then I remember that it's just part of what makes her more like a real person
for example: robin is an introvert and she suffers from social anxiety but she can also be very talkative once you get her going. she loves horror movies, but she's not brave- she just likes being scared, but if she's threatened with real violence or backed into a corner then she'll likely respond with aggression even though she's probably the least violent or bloodthirsty person you're ever likely to meet. people are complex. morality isn't always black and white either
that’s very interesting about her. does that talkative side also come out when it’s about a topic she loves, and the anxiety tends to go away bc it’s more of her fav topics to go on about ?  oh man. okay that does make sense.  this example !!! it’s painting the picture a little bit clearer for me. thank you !  and you’re def right about morality but it’s like .. idk.  some people could label SOME Very Differing traits as a fault in character personality regardless, and i get worried about that. but robin’s traits do fall in that realm of being realistic imo and i love-

Another question in return had caused Atieno to get into thought herself. A pause as if to ruminate over what exactly could be said in to this. It was a situation she had wondered about many a time, and found truly strange about these beings. “I wonder about these distinctions quite often. I find them to be arbitrary and a lot of the time more damaging than they’re worth. I just.. it’s not like those people trying to really help those that fall on the ‘wrong’ side of the distinction anyway. So what’s the point of all that ineffective categorization anyway?” Not every thing was going to fit within a limited amount of folds and it kind of aggravated Ati with people wouldn’t really acknowledge that.

‘ everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed ‘
MEME.

Her tail lifted off the rock she was perched upon, swaying from side to side as she considered his delightfully poetic words. She thought of her kin, those unfortunate few who had been defeated by a human’s wit, only to find relief at the bottom of a cliff. In their despair, it must have looked beautiful from the top. Would they have preferred to be among the hunted and slain? She thought of herself, human enough to expertly use their language but too monstrous to live closely with them. “Doomed to die or to live?”

Ashes
Humans can’t be trusted. It would seem that the example of other creatures, witches, sorcerers had to teach him this. Twenty years ago he left the Spain, the state that reached its greedy crooked hand over the ocean, the land covered with the suffocating smokes of its unfading ‘actus fidei’. Twenty years and he stopped waking up from screams of the victims, from the sound of bells and monotonous prayers, and the name of Torquemada began to lose its sinister meaning. He crossed the France seeking for the peace on the misty islands of Albion, and there after a few years of wandering as a mercenary he fell into the trap, set not by the reigns or priests, but by the peasant ignorance. The fire he avoided in Spain, found him here. An empty house on the edge of the village. They dragged him there after driving a stake through his heart and dropped him next to the dead vampire, he killed to save their children. The wooden house caught fire from all four edges and flared like a dry firewood. The door was locked, and there was no use to scream, beg or call for help. Last embers stopped to fume after the midnight. He was and wasn’t there. He didn’t feel, didn’t think, but he was alive. He was a spark of energy, running through what was left of his body. Bones black from the ashes, charred meat, the eyeless skull with the remains of skin and hair, the empty cage of ribs. But he was there. The night was windless, but the still warm dust was blown from the carcass like it was a cover of an old book, and the magic began. At first, slow, whitening the bones, cleaning the flash from blackness, then faster. New cells grew from nothing, clammy membrane covered the skeleton, muscles started to form, sinews, veins and nerves reached and stretched like paths and rivers up, up to the emptiness that should be a stomach and to the chest, and to the skull. Insides began to grow, to fill with liquids and to pulsate... Someone else was there, watching, but he didn’t know yet, he still was just a spark of life without feelings and without self.
