Spring is springing! Clover and purple deadnettle and yellow madder are coming up, to the delight of the bees. (In the background: my neighbor's shaved lawn.)

Woo! Phantasmagoria! Shadow Milk Cookie :D (also known as Phantas when it comes to AUs)
It may be messy, but I've spent too long trying to come up with a design for jester man over here. Let's just embrace the chaos SMC style. This is also the guy who designed Pure Vanilla and Wind Archer's outfits by the way. He does not like his hair.

Information on pruning overgrown plants.
Your goals are to have adequate air flow throughout the plant, remove diseased or dead branches, and have good light penetrating the entire plant.
Remove any branch that is rubbing against another. This can cause an open wound on the branch, which is an opportunity for disease to invade the plant.
Remove branches that are growing toward the center of the plant. Also, remove any branches that cross each other. Remember we want to provide both air circulation and light penetration.
Remove any dead or diseased branches. A dead branch will be brittle, its buds will be brown. While a live branch will be flexible, buds will be green and there will be a green layer under the bark.
Generally, remove 1/3 of the plants’ height or 1/3 of its branches.
Remove any suckers and or waterspouts. These 2 types of branches look similar, growing straight up. However, a sucker originates from the roots or below the graft. While the waterspout will be vigorous and originate from the trunk or large branches.
Here is some additional information:

also, another headcanon brought to you by concepts from the art book:
so context first, bob's mind was originally a town of little porcelain people that was constantly changing water levels due to his alcoholism. we saw glimpses of this in the psychodessy, but now in the art book theres these pages of frankly super adorable art of all the little porcelain people and their town trinketon
so NOW, the headcanon: bob likes collecting little porcelain ppl and town set pieces and arranging them as a side hobby. some of these are also pots for indoor plants in his house but a lot of them are just purely decorative and cute. he is very old man coded at the tender age of 40-something (source; my grandma has a full set of those porcelain christmas villages they sell during the holidays so this is very old people core to me)
a lot of these mightve broke during the 20 years of isolation but post-game bob manages to salvage whatever he can and dust off the little trinketon town and display it again. there were spiders in the larger house pieces that'd broken a bit

Went for my usual walk around the river, on this day the first of 2024. For the first time since I moved into the area all those years ago I took the path around the park by the road instead of next to the river itself.
There are four olive trees flanking the main entrance, thick, gnarled and old, maybe old enough to have been planted during colonisation.
2024 off to an interesting start.

so turns out urban forestry is just 80% taking calls from people asking you to - for free - perform a dangerous and costly treatment on their tree that would 100% kill it if we actually obeyed them

Severe leg/hand strain, as well as injury falling down a tall step ladder aside, I did damn good with pruning this year.
The current calving crisis and looming field seeding/cultivating season has been making things all the more exhausting, and I still have to get the pruned branch debris collected for removal from the orchard, but I still gotta pat myself on the back for working as hard as I have despite the setbacks.
I may actually consider mom's idea of getting a battery powered hand pruner though, to lessen the strain in the future.
