Okay I don’t want this to be like an obnoxious millennial assumption because I’m positive that every generation has things like this, but the way autism and ADHD was treated for us in the 90’s and how it affects adult diagnoses is like, imo, so integral to our coming of age and the stories we tell and the way we’ve gotten to know ourselves, even the way it relates to our job market and economy and how we operate inside it, and especially the way a pandemic uncovered it for so many people and exposed the cracks and revealed that we were all just barely functioning and held together with popsicle sticks and anyway

I say that because maybe it’s the un-diagnosed 90’s child in me but I feel particularly emotional about Keith’s arc in learning that he’s part Galra, and the way even the creators said they made him sort of prickly because of his biology, and I just !! Think so much about Keith’s neurotype as a part Galra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cause something about being diagnosed later in life is like, looking back at all the other ways you tried to handle yourself, all the missteps, maybe even misdiagnoses. Like, how many times did you try to treat ANXIETY without realizing you didn’t have an anxiety disorder, you just can’t deal with your family blaring the TV from the next room? How many times were you told you were lazy, or lying, when you didn’t know what executive dysfunction is?

Keith is such a lovely rich character because his prickliness is EARNED—we know what happened to him, we know he’s traumatized, we know he’s been treated poorly by many people in his life. We know that he grew up thinking that he’d been abandoned by one of the people who should’ve loved him the most, in the whole world. He even questions that in his vlog—he makes the connection that he has trouble with people because of his mom.

But I just wonder like, how much of it is just his biology. Not understanding the body he’s in, being completely ignorant of one whole half of his culture. Had he ever mutated before the TBP fight? Did it take him by surprise, did it frighten him? ((* This is head canon territory LMAO there’s no way to really know—like, is he able to do this because he just spent so much time with Krolia, or does Shiro going That’s the Keith I remember mean they used to have really primal sex that turned his eyes yellow? Lol))

Like when we talk about even the most broad generic terms of saying someone is neurodivergent, we don't even need to put a real life label on Keith. Like he's literally not human! Of course his brain looks different! Of course he functions differently! And I wonder how much is nature v nurture -- if he knew the truth about his mom, if his dad had lived, if he'd been allowed a normal childhood, would he still have been a weird kid?

Cause like, even seeing the way Shiro is able to get through to him, we see ways that he allowed for thrill seeking, and he didn't judge Keith for stealing his car. It reminds me of like, what we know now about asking children to sit still in school, and how perhaps some children would do better with standing desks. Shiro wants him to behave and succeed, and doesn't judge him for being a car thief, and gets through to him by bringing him cliff diving. And it just feels like this clue, you know, that nothing is wrong with Keith, he's just living in a weird place where people don't get him.

It’s just really special to me, because there’s so many pieces in the sequence of events of Keith’s character arc, and I know I’ve said this a handful of times now, but I really sincerely believe it’s the only thing the show really nailed. Accepting himself during the BOM Trial -> MOMENTS later learning something very important about his biology -> spending time with Krolia -> coming back to pilot Black when he’s READY and WANTS to (unlike the first time, when he resisted) -> becoming a pragmatic strong leader by the end.

Gosh idk.

I don’t really have anywhere to go with this, it’s just something I was thinking about today and it gets me real emotional. Like, Keith must have had these moments, re-evaluating who he’d been before he’d known, finally understanding why he was Like That, and it’s so healing to imagine him accepting his past self and forgiving it because he understands now.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Season One Anime Review

Includes Spoilers

So I had recently bought the game and tried to play it and felt I was lost not knowing the characters or the connections and was solely going by the looks of Alan was most pleasing to me. Anyways I decided to sit down and watch the anime then I would be ready for the game. It says the game takes place after the first season of the anime so here is my review of the first season then I will start playing the game and will leave reviews later for that.

First here are all of them as kids aren't they damn cute like all the little boys were adorable, still prefer Alan and Keith as far as little kids go though. Thats just my opinion.

Alan Stuart

So lets start with the man that had my attention right away. He was the most dashing and handsome of them all to me. He is Mary's fiancé and I wanted to show something in the difference in how he looks at Catarina and how he looks at Mary and you can see a big difference. First picture is Alan and Mary if Catarina wasn't in the picture its cute but I still see lack there of love. Then the 2nd picture is of him carrying Mary when she almost gets hurt yet he doesn't even look down at her, this is after he knew Catarina. As you can see when Catarina became part of his world Mary didn't phase him in the least.

Now below is the difference Catarina has opened up Alan's world. First holding her in his arms effects him it gets to him because the feel of her against him is hard for him to think about anyone but her. He gets flustered easy around her and although he took alot longer for him to realize what his feelings were it was always shown even when he didn't have a name for it.

Even though she was engaged to his brother there was something in the way they looked at each other. Like they haven't confessed anything to each other but that look even from her. She looks at him with more love and affection than she looks at her fiancé to me. I love the chemistry and damn I can't wait to romance the hell out of this man in the game. He is a tsundere but damn one fine one and he really does love her. I thought in one episode that showed all of their desires to be with Catarina and they cut his short I felt like I was gipped then this scene happened where he climbed the tree and that connection there it looked like at one point they were going to kiss even so much Mary saw and was freakin out to get to them. However it ends that episode and never picks it back up so I am curious what happened that day.

Then just the casual in the hall glance and how they were so competitive as kids it all led them to care for each other the way they do. I think not only that but she was good for him he always felt 2nd best to Geordo being his brother and she never let him feel second best to her. She still hung out with him and even helped him play a prank on his brother/her fiancé. They are the perfect example of the big brother/best friend trope that led them to care more. He is still my favorite and I love his awkwardness sometimes along with his flusters he is absolutely my kinda guy for sure.

Keith Claes

I honestly wasn't sure how I was gonna feel about Keith going in I mean yeah I knew it was her brother but I was curious to see how it played out. From the very first time you get a idea of him as a kid you realize he is so hurt and broken and just needs love and care. When Catarina is the one who gives it to him even when he doesn't feel worthy of it wasn't hard to see this boy fall and fall hard.

Unlike some of the others from well off families even though Keith had the upbringing to be a gentleman and noble he would still help Catarina in whatever she wanted to do. She wanted to build a farm he did it to, if she wanted to travel the towns he was there. No matter what, he is always in her court and would burn the world, well in his case with his magic he would crumble the world around them so that they were together and the things that could hurt her were gone.

This man 100% is the bean of this show. He genuinely loves her and not as a sister. I mean he isn't her real brother more like a cousin they said than anything. He fell for her pretty soon after meeting her so I don't think he truly ever put her in a sister only mind set he was determined to be there for her like she was for him. He really is a sweetheart and I don't know how anyone couldn't like him. He is my 2nd favorite with Catarina I love how he looks at her.

I also love his constant trying to bump Geordo out of the picture just to be next to his sister. He would truly follow her anywhere. Its also sincere and sweet that when he thinks he will never see her again you can see all the pain in him of that sad little boy again but he rises past it all to be there for her even if it means talking to her when she is in a coma until she eventually hears him.

Nicol Ascart

Ok not gonna lie he is your kuudere for sure, man of very few words and very hard to know what he is thinking. However when he looks at her he only sees her. All the girls fall over themselves for him but when Catarina looks at him and he looks at her he cares about nothing else. He knows she is with his best friend Geordo and knows he shouldn't love her but says he would rather spend any moment he can by her side until he no longer can again. This truly grabs at my heart strings.

I love that even as kids they look at each other in such a sweet endearing way. The fact she is good to his sister when no one else is, and she treats him like he is important and not some object to drool over or push away. With her he can be himself, he can smile when he never did before her. Even in the episode of desire you could see he would push all the ladies away to take her away with him to be happy. He is your darker sheep of the anime but still such a sweet boy I look forward to seeing more from him as well.

Geordo Stuart

So I'm on the fence the most with him only cause sometimes he feels to perfect. However by the end of the first season you realize he felt nothing but a mundane life and really didn't know happiness until her. This really made me start liking him more. He is a total flirt but only to her which I respect completely. I mean if your gonna flirt make it towards the one you want. Also the fact that he felt responsible for her injury as a kid that she got hurt he vowed to marry her right then so that she would never worry about people ridiculing her for her looks due to the mark on her forehead. I mean even at a young age his proposal was adorable and spot on with the hand kissing and everything.

He is definitely the mischievous boy and Keith probably is smart to worry about him. I say this because if Catarina gave him half the chance he would so sleep with her. He is probably the only boy I truly feel is the most dirty minded one of them all. In the desire episode you see that when he literally gets wine and starts trying to make out with her. He even announces in the dreamish world that they are now married and she gets to be alone with him all night. That was so spot on with his desires.

He does love her though its not like I can't see how much he cares anyone can see it. The way he holds her though is so sweet he holds her like she is the most precious thing in the world because to him she is. I hope in time with him being her true route you see more chemistry between the two mainly from her side because as of right now its more one sided from what I see.

He gained even more respect for me when he got upset like he blamed himself for not being able to protect her. I feel like he would do anything to protect her just like any of the other men and that is a value in him. I also don't think he would ever hurt her intentional at all. Come on he don't even notice other girls nor does he care what people think of him or of her its what he feels. Then the fact he takes water and feeds it to her in a kiss when she is in a coma to keep her hydrated that was the most romantic thing he did so far. So by the end of it I think I love him as much as some of the guys now he just had to win me over a bit more.

Raphael Walt

Ok this boy is a down right cutie, to me he is you cinnamon roll in this anime 100%. Yes he had darkness and revenge take him over but come on his moms last words as she bled out in front of him was avenge my death. That is enough to make anyone flip a switch.

The way he holds Catarina's hand so gentle even when he was in pain and suffering, as well as how she reaches out to touch him and understand his pain. I honestly think they could make a good match and wish it was included in the game. I hope eventually he gets to shine and have even a small chance with her.

Then after all the bad things he did and she understood why he tried to make up for it all. He isn't a bad boy at all this is a sweet baby boy who just needs to be loved and cared for by a woman and I think he will grow up well.

Come on you can't tell me he isn't sorry even Keith and Geordo make a comment that she has taken on seducing another man for them to have to compete against. This should prove he should be a love interest. I will cross my fingers I see more of him in the second season or in future games. He is the side character that I think should be dateable.

The Girls (Mary Hunt, Sophia Ascart, & Maria Campbell)

Mary - The girls are all supposed to be her best friends but every damn one of them is in love with her. Sometimes its way over done like especially with Mary. I feel like with Mary she tries to force her love on Catarina, and she tries to shut down everyone elses advances. I feel like she would even be a bad one to date for being controlling in the end. She is the cray cray yanderish types in female form I swear.

Maria - She is a sweetheart but sometimes she is just too sweet to me. Like her light side magic to how humble she is. The fact she sees the good in everyone all the time and although I know she has it hard I just feel like she needs to spend more time being herself and not this over joyed happy girl all the time. I do still like her but as far as her with Catarina I just don't see anything but friends.

Sophia - She is my favorite of the girls probably cause when you realize she was with Catarina in her past life and how much she loved her even after she died it shows there is such a close bond with them. When no one else wanted to be her friends her connection with Catarina made her grow up much happier. I even love how she got to say goodbye to her one last time before being there by her side as Sophia. I can say I think friendship is all they should be even with the fact I think she does love her I think she wants her brother and Katarina to be together as well. Maybe they want to share her lol.

Overall Thoughts

This is such a beautiful anime all the way around. After just the first episode I was hooked and needed more. I would have binged it one day if I had been busy that day but by day 2 was done with one sitting from episode like 5 to the end. I love everyone of these characters for one reason or another. They all bring something to the story that when you take one out for just a moment you realize how they are needed. There of course there is a few side characters you would miss to but the main ones below are the biggest ones you can't have this anime without.

I absolutely love how these guys looks flustered like they seriously are hot as hell especially Keith & Alan who were effected the most. Geordo and Nicol's are a little more shameless and promiscuous in their own way compared to Alan and Keith who are alot more innocent.

The banter between Keith and Geordo is what makes it funny as hell though. They are always technically dick measuring and showing each other up. Their banter is needed though unlike the other guys they are the ones that are the biggest rivals.

I love this show has happy and funny moments but also sad and unpredictability as well. Characters you will learn to love some to hate and some you just don't care about. I honestly did not expect to love every one of the guys for one reason or another that usually never happens. I usually have one or two and the rest I don't care about but I'm actually looking forward to playing the game now to see how each story plays out all because the anime got my interest. I read a review on the ships people love and hate and I disagree with them so this is supposedly the ships that are the biggest from the anime.

Catarina x Alan --- LIKE ( I agree to me he is the most well fit for her and her personality. To me they are end game.)

Catarina x Sophia --- LIKE/HATE (I've seen this one waver for people, like I love their friendship and how much they care for one another but to me best not in a romantic way.)

Catarina x Keith --- HATE ( I disagree I think he would follow her to the ends of the earth and always take care of her anyway he could. He would make a good life long partner for sure.)

Catarina x Nicol --- LIKE (I agree they are cute together and the fact he don't care about any of the girls throwing themselves at him when she gives him attention tells you he has eyes only for her. I love how soft his eyes are when he smiles at her too.)

Catarina x Mary --- HATE (I agree she is overly pushy and even though I like Catarina with the guys when it comes to girls she is my least favorite. Anyways any advances she has made towards Katarina she has been shot down with anyways.)

Catarina x Maria --- LIKE/HATE ( I have seen this one waver too and just like with Sophia think they are better friends than more.)

Catarina x Raphael --- HATE (I disagree I actually think he is cute as a button. The fact he is fast to admit he is sorry but still wants to stay by her side I think he needs his own love route he deserves it after watching his mom killed in front of him. )

Catarina x Geordo --- LIKE (I agree they are cute together and I wouldn't totally hate them being together I like his flirtiness anyways)

I don't know where nurturing Acxa came from, if there's anything I know about Acxa it's that she's and independent woman with a severe case of emotional constipation. There are tons of fanfics where she's portrayed as a stereo typical housewife, and it just never sat right with me.

I mean Acxa's like the opposite of nurturing she's the kind of person to microwave food in the middle of the night and then let that beeping sound wake up the whole base/ship/whatever because she fell asleep! So Keith has to come and turn it off and take her back to bed.

And even if she and Keith did have kids Acxa would be the sort of mother to have this conversation with her child:

Incredibly gorgeous 2-year-old kacxa child: Mama, Papa, can I pwease come with you, I pwamise to be good.

Acxa & Keith: ABSOLUTELY!

And Keith doesn't want a nurturing girlfriend he wants a lovely blue kitty who doesn't give a quiznak 98% of the time and then there's that 2% when she devotes every fiber of her being to adoring Keith (nuzzling, purring, head bunting, maybe even meowing). The point is Acxa isn't nurturing, she's really not.

Tradwife Acxa (and implied dadbod keith) jumpscare oh Shit. This is a trend that existed since the showing was airing. Cursed I tell you. Super cursed get it the hell away from me. The absolute worst and braindead reading of Acxa's character. Right up there with Acxa the "emotionally competent and available best friend to Keith who's in love with Lance" fic trend. Blegh.

Acxa is the type of person to microwave food at 4 am after pulling 3 all-nighters, leave the microwave beeping waking everyone up, and when Ezor comes in with her face mask like "Acxa what the fuck" only to find Acxa standing in front of the microwave. Eyes open cause of course she can sleep like that. No one realizes this cause the next second her eyes dart to look at Ezor or anyone around her, and that's the only indication one gets that she's woken up. She takes out her food from the microwave, not breaking eye contact the whole time, before slowly breaking away to ferret it away to eat it in the place she'd been doing the work that's kept her awake this whole time. She does not explain the situation.

I actually don't think Acxa would willingly have kids. Even with Keith. But in the case of an accident child I think Keith would do most of the legitimate parenting. Acxa would give the child a knife and tell them they have to learn how to fight and defend on their own cause Miss "born and bred in war" learned to do the same 35 decapheobs before.

Honestly I think the Galra are not cats so much as they are vampires. Physical affection consists of biting. On the neck. This is regular and important to the relationship. Keith has come to terms with hickies being a way of life for him.

Chapter 15

Flashback: Rio confesses his love for MC. And he's been in love with her since the day she saved him. From the day he "knew kindness".

Rio saw everything. But even if his older brother and MC didn't kiss, he still felt bad.

That's where "the coal-black beast who was good at capturing people's hearts and fighting" caught up with him.

Gilbert: How are you feeling?

Rio: Fine. Thank you for your concern...

Gilbert: But you still look like you're dying, don't you?

Rio sits in the living room drinking water. Gilbert happily plays with his cane.

Gilbert: Don't be shy. I told you I'm on your side, didn't I? "Prince Valerio."

Of course, Gilbert knew everything.

The prince believes that the former butler has a block in his memories, as with severe stress.

This is common among Obsidian soldiers.

Gilbert: Some memories are better remembered, some are better forgotten forever.

Gilbert thinks Rio has the latter.

Rio is no fool and realizes that messing with the "trampling beast" is not worth it. And he wants out. But Gilbert grabs hold of his arm.

Rio didn't expect a man with such "sweet and gentle" features to be so strong.

Gilbert: Oh man. My favours...

Gilbert: You either accept it or you're made to accept it. There are only two options.

It got colder. There was no longer an "atmosphere of benevolence," it was like a "beast hunted".

Rio: Well, I'm out of luck... Lord Gilbert caught me...

The prince asks Rio not to get upset about it, in case there's something in the guy's memory that will help protect his precious "little Bunny."

Gilbert: Hmmm... I'll ask you again. What do you want?

This has been going on for five days now.

Silvio: She's back already.

Silvio: Still no sign of her coming to entertain us.

Perhaps the girl is busy, Keith suggested. But there is no more important job in society than to entertain a guest from another country, replies the prince from Benitoite.

Silvio: Well, at least the damn dog doesn't bother me.

Keith: MC's butler is really excellent.

Silvio: They flatter those who have power, carelessly leap over others, laugh at those who have fallen.

Silvio: I throw a tantrum when things don't go their way...

Silvio: On the contrary, if they get their way, they'll make an almost nauseating purring sound.

Silvio: ...I get goosebumps.

The words that came out of his mouth were filled with incomprehensible hatred.

Keith says that Silvio just hasn't had any luck with women.

Silvio agrees with that, but also says that women are all the same.

Keith: ... And Miss MC?

Silvio: ...Аh. I am sure that sooner or later she will show her nature.

Carlo, Silvio's squire, arrived and delivered a message.

Silvio: That old bastard.

Is there a difference between Keith and his alter as a lover to Emma. Can you give us a scenario in the game... If there is.

It’s kind of hard for me to explain but I’ll try my best

Yes and no. What the Keiths have in common are how much they love Emma, find her really cute (take a shot every time they call her cute), are greedy, and love to have her close to them whenever possible. Lots of hugs. Alter!Keith and Keith low key competing with each other. Very protective over Emma. Also, both Keiths fuck 😌 (separately!) They’re two sides of the same coin and sometimes Emma sees a hint of the other Keith in the Keith that’s in front.

Alter!Keith is physical, bold, pushy, and a biter. He likes having Emma close to him, always holding her in some way and likes to reward her with kisses on her cheek. He even does this when she first realizes that Alter!Keith is another personality. His kisses are full of biting and tongue, and can be described as being devoured by a beast. Oh, and a big thing for Alter!Keith is Emma’s reactions to his touches. Bullying is how he shows his love.

Though Alter!Keith enjoys bullying Emma, he has his gentle moments and is attentive, though that’s not something he’ll ever admit. Even before they were together, when he took her out on a date (that he blackmailed her into going *cough*), he took her to all the places he knew she enjoyed, even if he didn’t have an opinion on any of them. He’d answer any questions she had about him. He doesn’t like to have her worry or blame herself for things that aren’t her fault and always tries to soothe her when she’s angry. I guess you can say that he’s the more empathetic Keith.

He loves any kind of attention Emma gives him because it means his existence is acknowledged. But he especially likes the kind of attention that Keith doesn't receive, even if it was hate pre-relationship. He gets jealous whenever Emma's mind's on Keith, even for only a moment, when he's in front.

Romantic!Keith is more confident and you’d be forgiven if you thought it was just Alter!Keith pretending to be Keith. Emma often says he’s sneaky and unfair whenever he looks dejected or has puppy eyes. Of course, Keith being the kind and gentle soul that he is, he always makes sure that Emma's comfortable. Whether it's being by Emma's side when he's not working and making sure that's she's comfortable while adjusting to life in Jade or during intimate moments. He does still have his moments of uncertainty but when Emma gives him the go-ahead, he finds it hard to control himself. But he’s still gentler than Alter!Keith. He’s not innocent of leaving marks all over Emma, but it’s not as excessive as Alter!Keith. And according to Emma, the way Keith and Alter!Keith touch her is different.

He's not shy with displays of affection in front of people he knows if him having Emma sit on his lap while Licht is present or him kissing Emma several times in a hall of Jade castle while his butler's standing off to the side are anything to go by. Going back to Emma sitting on his lap, she wanted to sit on the floor but he said it was dirty and uncomfortable. He then apologizes, he just wanted to see her embarrassed face. He looks at her with puppy eyes and she gives in

Dramatic route Keith is actually slightly different from Romantic route Keith but the Dramatic route’s an alternate route so not “canon”.

Dramatic!Keith I think is more shy and lacks confidence. He did have his moments where it suddenly felt like Alter!Keith took over, Rather than talk to Emma when he notices something off about her, he either talks to Alter!Keith about it or writes in his notebook. While Alter!Keith knows what’s up with Emma just by observation, Keith worries that she’s grown tired of him and his gloominess. He can’t bear the thought of letting her go if she wanted to break up and would cling to her if he had to.

His first kiss with her is gentle and slow, as if he was savoring her. And when they finally confess, Emma kisses him and he feels like he’s going to evaporate. Dramatic route Keith doesn’t fuck. At least, it’s never shown.

Going forward, the Keith that we’ll be seeing is Romantic!route Keith since the both end clear epilogue continues from there.

So just a quick rambling thought on one of the aspects of Barbarian (2022) because this wild movie really has got me thinking! Spoilers and TWs in tags

So while Keith turns out to be one of the "good" guys in the movie, it's subtly shown that even he does not fully understand Tess as a woman. When Tess comes to him in a panic he doesn't listen to her, sealing his own death in the process. Showing that scene and the scene where he's yelling at her in the tunnel as a parallel is super interesting. He got upset, believing he was right and wanting her to understand and listen to his fear when just before when she was terrified he didn't fully believe her, even telling her to calm down. And Tess's fear is warranted, just from the glimpse of the initial room alone. She knows what a room like that is for. Girls are aggressively warned about sexual violence from a very young age, hence her caution when first staying with Keith. There's also something to be said about his own realization of making her a drink and how she viewed that. He makes her one after she says no, then realizes her trepidation, and then he sort of jokes about it. He feels awkward and doesn't want to say the wrong thing so he jokes that she could watch him make it or have some unopened wine with him. There's something about that scene for me, its more of that not fully comprehending her and dismissing her worry because hes not a "bad" guy in his own eyes. So he's not fully capable of putting himself in her shoes. Though he wakes up with her touching him while sleeping, past the initial alarm, it's not really indicated that he fears for his safety around her, unlike like her POV staying with him. I mean, they're human and they did only meet like one day ago and he didn't grow up femme so like, it's mostly understandable!

Anyway, Keith is not the monster that AJ and Frank are. But there is a message subtly shown here that even the best intentions or views of self morality don't keep you from making poor decisions especially at the expense of others. Because of Keith's disbelief, this leads to Tess running after him to help when he puts himself in harms way. Though understandable, his yelling for help when he knows, or at least hopes, that she will help him puts her in danger. He is expecting more from her than he gave her just a minute before. And the thing is, he is one of the better guys in the film! Again, it just goes to show that though you think you're a good person, you can fail to make the best decisions and indirectly affect those around you.

One last thing, the only other good man in this movie is the homeless man in the neighborhood, Andre. He helps and let's Tess into his home. Selflessly, he does these things. I would just like to point back to the scene immediately after he rescues her. When she wants to go back in to rescue AJ, he dismisses her. He finds her empathy unreasonable, favoring self preservation ideals instead. Which, again, totally understandable! This is a man who has learned street smarts and safety for survival for years. What I find interesting is that he doesn't necessarily rescue Tess at any expense to himself at that time. He knew that Mother wouldn't come out in the sun when he pulled Tess out. And he settled to go separate ways from Tess until she winds up on his doorstep that night. Of course his hospitality is more at his expense because he knows Mother will come for her "babies" that night but still let's them stay. And even his initial warning when he runs after her is just poorly thought out. In what world does yelling "Hey little girl, don't run in that house" while running full speed at her a good idea? Again, it's just poor critical thinking regarding women and how they view their safety.

I guess my point is, no one seems to care or feel things quite as much as Tess does. And because of that, she seems to be disregarded by the men in the film as...dramatic? The movie paints the picture of how she, a woman, is regarded by society. There are the glaring displays of sexism, misogyny, and gender based violence but there is also the subtler instances of lesser versions of the same things. Especially the ones not done intentionally. (This last sentence doesn't pertain to anything to do with AJ or Frank, may they burn in hades.)

In conclusion, Idk if I could watch this again anytime soon. It genuinely is disturbing but I do enjoy a movie that makes you think deeply. I've heard many people call this a unique story and at first, I was conflicted because I was stuck on how sexual violence against women is not a unique thing at all in our world. And how horror movies tell them, most of the time, pretty damn poorly. But the storybuilding and the complexities surrounding the base storyline and Mother, it just really works. This isn't a gratuitous horror movie at all imo. Yknow the kind I'm talking about, where it's just torture porn and exploitative. There's layers here and something to be thought about. I would recommend this movie, it's quite the watch. This is just my opinion ofc, I can readily see why this movie wouldn't be people's cup of tea. Anyway, this movie is gonna live in my head paying absolutely no rent.

Wait, how would a gender swap au Bridgerton might work?

Some days I put off asks like this because I don't have the heart to admit it would be too much work for my sleep deprived exhausted brain to think up an answer I'm satisfied with.

Mostly because gender roles do affect most of the Bridgerton love stories and I would have to change them up and around.

I think that the only one I can reasonably see myself genderbeding without my morals objecting to it would be Kanthony.

I can see Mr Keith Sharma naming his younger brother Edwin his heir because for some reason he doesn't want to marry, and finding the flirty, seductive daughter of a Viscount, miss Antoinette Bridgerton, too much of a lose woman for his innocent brother. Meanwhile Antoinette Bridgerton sees Edwin Sharma as an easy mark for a quick proposal and only needs to get his formidable older brother out of the way.

All the other Bridgerton stories, if "I" did a genderbent take, of say, the Duke and I or an offer from a gentleman, or even, on the way to the wedding. Then... I'd probably just end up making the original storyline end before it begins

For example A male Daphne would be a Viscount, family oriented and loyal I don't see him entering a marriage of convenience with anyone, let alone a female version of Simon, the commitment phobic daughter of a Duchess. Because a male Daphne would definitely have married for love. And a female Simon would have picked spinsterhood no questions asked.

Gregory's story, only works because he's a guy. A girl convincing the very engaged best friend of her handsome idiot crush to help her win the heart of said idiot crush. And then crashing the wedding of said best friend because she realized she loved him. Would be an awful love story and that's without taking into account the kidnapping.

And I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would take me some time to think of ways the storyline could work without changing too much of the characters or the plot.

Let's Rewind! Toast watches Voltron: Defender of The Universe (1984)

Season 1, Episode 11: Surrender

Haggar apparently is letting loose red rain on Arus So like acid rain or what?

We get to see a panning view of Arus's landscape and some animals before everything goes to shit, and they leave because of the red clouds Remember kids, if you don't hear any animals, or they suddenly start running away YOU BEST LEAVE IMMEDIATELY

I just know the team behind Voltron was trying really hard to not make this episode horrifying because we get a shot of what the red rain looks like and-

That is blood, that is straight up blood dripping down the cameras

Once again I am VERY excited to watch GoLion at the end of this

More clips of how the rain is affecting Arus but this time we get to see the people of Arus going insane A building catches fire and from what I can make of that scene it's pretty much the rain causing all of it

Apparently the stream that's catching a lot of this red raid is flammable! Now a lot of things are on fire Pidge and Allura are on evacuation duty, but everyone is running away from the chaos

Pidge comforts a lost girl named Tammy Except when she cries harder he snaps at her to stop LMAO

The floods have officially reached the town and with it EVEN MORE FIRE This episode is wild

Allura tries to stop it with a wall of ice, but the fire almost climbs over it? I mean it also melts it but the point being She immediately starts crying, which like I guess in GoLion her tears would make sense but right now it doesn't

Everyone is on a cliff now, including the people in the town Pidge is the first of the team there with Tammy as they wait for the others to come by

Hunk makes a comment about beating up Yurak and Zarkon and then immediately gets hit with a tractor beam the rest of the team minus Pidge is pulled towards Yurak's battle cruiser

Yurak being a bit smart for once and just crashing the lions into Pidge which sends them all crashing down the nearby canyon

This stuns them enough for Yurak to actually capture the townspeople before he lands his cruiser to finish off the lions

Tammy cries and Pidge is comforting her The team being attacked gets them up again before they hear Tammy crying and Allura chastises Pidge for keeping her in his lion

She's kind of right to say that but also kind of wrong because SHE had some people in her lion earlier but let them off safely on top of the canyon, l only agree that he should've let her off with someone else since he's going to be in battle, but she can't say shit past that

Keith just being the only one to talk while only saying stuff referring to the fight is very weird for me Also boring lol, I want to hear the rest of the team too

Yurak's being smart again! He's threatening the team with the townspeople he took hostage and telling them to surrender

The team is discussing surrendering before Keith butts in and says it's his decision alone (no it's not) before he's interrupted by one of the people getting "stun gunned" as a taste of what could happen if they don't surrender

The white flag is raised, the team is surrendering Except Pidge has an idea, and it has to do with Tammy

The team all look at the little kid in green next to Allura and realizes it's not Pidge As the team goes one by one, a group of hostages is released for each pilot

Tammy is the final one to cross but sees her mother last second and runs to her which gets her mother shot Kid I get it but if you knew the stakes please hold off a little longer

Some guards try to take Tammy's mother but Pidge shoots at them before they can reach The team fights their way through the guards and tell Pidge he'll actually get more respect LMAO

I'M SORRY THE SHIP WAS A ROBEAST IN DISGUISE?? HOW IS YURAK GETTING BACK THEN Oh nvm it was a second ship

On Levi's side, I said he fell in love with Hanji in Keith's time.

At that time, he had just lost his friends and was very lonely, and Hanji was very warm and friendly to him. I believe they might stick together every day,Levi seems to be fully aware of his special feelings for Hanji,according to au smartpass:Moblit&Levi.

Moreover, Levi can learn the knowledge of titans from Hanji. Hanji hopes Levi can teach her more about the skills of 3dmg. This friendship is good for both sides. I believe Erwin will also feel relieved that Levi can be accompanied by an excellent and reliable person.

She said in the interview that her ideal lover is someone who respects her and doesn't need her care, which also reflects her emphasis on freedom. She even said, such people may not exist, this implies her pessimistic expectation towards romantic love.

Especially in romantic love and marriage, people are too used to "men should be like men and women should be like women". As Eren's memory, only Karla and Mikasa do housework, while Eren and Grisha don't seem to want to help.

Even when many people imagine gay relationships, they habitually imagine the role of top / bottom, which is obviously modeled on the traditional male / female.

Hello! I love this Series, but if Katarina have a Brain, then who boy be her future love? I am Keith fan, but I sorry Geordo too! This boy no care the parents because Alan, and that no care anyone before meet Katarina. Whats your answer?

Unpopular Opinion.

I'm not routing for anyone to be her future lover.

I don’t feel that any of these characters are bad or would be horrible if paired with Katarina, but I kinda hope there is NO definitive ‘love interest’ just so everyone can have their ships alive in their hearts.

To me this is not a shoujo romance with a definitive romance story line between people that we are clearly meant to root for, but more like a comedy with several romantic teases (harem). I read it for the comedy and the fun not to find clues that my favs will be the OTP of the series. I think this started off as a fun premise and blew up in popularity and now Satoru-san is continuing the story by focusing on the magic and and world building, while continuing to complicate all the relationships for Katarina and building up multiple possibilities for her, that is part of the fun, but I’m not convinced that it will end with a happy ending wedding... mostly because Katarina hasn’t been written this way (yet). Until she starts to ‘fall in love’ it probably won’t happen.

That doesn't mean that a final 'lover' won't happen, IF Satoru-san wants to end the series with Katarina finally selecting someone, it could happen, and as it stands there are several options that would make sense for her in the narrative, but I honestly don't think that it is the point of the series thus far, which is why no ONE person stands out to me. Although there are several that I think have a slim chance, or that wouldn't be a good fit for with Katarina for given the narrative. But that would be a much longer post and would only be my options and like I said above, I don’t want to be a downer on other peoples ships so I hesitate to voice them too much. Besides I’m a few volumes behind on my reading.

I like a lot of these characters, I don't hate any of them, and I can see many options for them. I think I have more fun wondering how the others will cope and move on if/when Katarina is paired up than wondering who she will be with. In some ways who Katarina is paired with is the boring one - they all like\love her, she likes\loves them all, she could literally be written to be with any of them and be happy! That is the kind of character she is and why she works as the main protagonist in the center of a harem. In the end I want them all to be happy and IF Katarina has to choose one, I like to imagine the other possibilities too so they can all be happy, even if they can��t be with Katarina ^_^

Last point I would also like to say is that these characters have and can change... who Geordo was in the game and the ‘new’ reality isn’t who he is now, he changed after meeting and falling in love with Katarina. All of Katarina’s harem did. That is one of the points of the game and series, right? The character starts out jaded\shy\introverted\angry\apathetic\etc. They meet and are changed for the better because they discover love and friendship in Katarina. Katarina is dense and doesn’t always realize this has happened, because she doesn’t realize the affect she has had on all of them. The others view each other as rivals, so jealousy and competitiveness play a role in how they view and treat each other.

I wish people would keep this in mind when thinking about these characters, they are not the same as their game’s personas, nor are they same as they were before they meet Katarina, and even now they are capable of changing and growing as they adapt to the <painfully slow> changing and growing Katarina. It is fun to see them trying to figure her out and how to reach her, and react to her obliviousness. One thing I am positive on is that all of them care about Katarina and wouldn’t want to hurt her or force her into a situation that would make her unhappy. They want to win her heart, but if she were to finally truly fall in love, I’m sure each would step aside if she was indeed happy about it, sad as it might make them. Since she hasn’t fallen in love yet, each is trying in their own limited ways to try and gain her love, but none of them would go further than she is comfortable with. It’s just not that kind of story.

Things I think of at 3 in the morning: Voltron Edition.

Well, sometimes I like to think that the Blue Lion is a kind of mother for her paladins.

(this will be long, my dear)

Blue is an important part of the team, because as a leg, her mission is to keep the team on their feet (with the Yellow Lion).

If we are talking about the poetic definition of the word "mother", maybe we could think of someone always present for her children, who is there for give them the love they need ... and the confidence too. A mother will look inside her kids to understand them, Above all, a mother will see in each of her children something unique and special.

In some way, that's what Blue does with her paladins. She chose them because she see something bigger inside them, and she commits herself to make that shine. If you remember Blaytz words in s8, that's exactly what she did for him.

I'm sure we all know about Lance's insecurities at the begining of the show, at least me, I always have the feeling that he didn't see something amazing enough in himself. Blue, as a lovely mom, supports Lance in his ideas and actions.

You can see this ideas somehow reflected in the paladins. They are based on confidence and in trust each other. Security is an important requirement on a team.

Blue paladins were usually rejected by other people because they weren't good enough, or maybe they suffer from something in common: underestimation.

But thanks of Blue, sometimes they realize how much they are worth, and that's when it comes the next point.

They are a support.

The blue ones learn from their own feelings how to support people in emotional trouble.

They are there to be the voice that makes you notice how special and strong you are, based on things they learned along the way to stop being underestimated and squash their own insecurities.

Maybe even they try to be that person they DIDN'T have when they needed it. And yes, I know that Allura and Lance had someone by their side before the war who was always there for them, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they've been pushed aside a few times and no one has been able to comfort them enough.

Let's go back to Blue and Lance relationship.

Sometimes I wonder why the Lion regrets Lance in that way when Red chose him, but now I think I can calm down my brain.

Blue not only hones and brings to light the skills of her pilots, but also prepares them for something BETTER.

Everytime when I watch the scene this days, I see it as a mother watching her son leave the house, I don't know if you understand: You know that the time has come to let him go further without you, and that he will have to face challenges alone, but you prepared him for this. Even if it hurts to say goodbye.

Now,

Why she chose Allura?

Boy, my brain is never tired.

If we go back to my theory that blue paladins are supports, maybe we could have an explanation.

The Lion saw exactly that hability in her when she encouraged Lance to try Red, making him realize he deserved it.

Allura hide all her pain and bad feelings just for help somebody else, that's what a blue paladin does. She wanted to be the Red paladin. In that moment, she was frustrated and sad.

Maybe it is not that noticeable, but many times Allura was treated as someone weaker or incapable than she really was.

A blue paladin conveys confidentiality and trust, as well as helping to increase your self-confidence.

(added part) Well, I had this idea while I was having lunch today, so...please forgive me.

Another thing the blue paladins have in common is their appreciation for their home planets. Lance miss Earth the same way that Allura miss Altea. For example, we can say that Hunk also misses the Earth, but it seems to me that he misses his family above all else, that is, if he had to leave the earth but taking his family with him, he will do it.

For Allura and Lance, family is something completely important, but their home planets are too. Lance will miss the rain, and the princess the flowers. Nothing will be the same as their initial home.

Last point! :)

Have you even heard about the Black paladin's curse?(Maybe I'm going to talk about that later) Well, I think the Blue ones have their own too.

They never feel complete.

Ironically, those who know the most about comforting people are the most insecure and those who receive the least comfort.

We can see the blue paladins showing their insecurities when Lance talks to Keith or Allura with Lance(in many situations). We can conclude that they are the ones who show them the most to other people.

However, the following happens to them (so to speak) :

"If I tell you 10 good things about you and one bad, you will pay atention to the bad one"

When they make a mistake, even if it's not completely their fault, that small or huge things is going to chase them forever.

For example, Allura:

When Lotor turned out to be a traitor, she felt hurt and completely guilty of the current situation, having fallen for his tricks and falling in love with him in the process.

Although we can see that Lance tries to make her feel better, in s8 we can clearly see that she still feeling guilty about what happened.

Sometimes they trust a person to be comforted in some way, or just that person makes them feel comfortable and powerful in some way.

And then, we he or she leaves, they lose part of the trust they have been winning thanks to that person. A blue paladin will never leave you, because is in their blood. But they use to choose someone who doesn't have that thing incorporated, meaning that this special someone could leave them with no problem in every single moment.

Lotor's ghost was literally chasing her because of the guilty, and Honerva took advantage of that.

A blue paladin can be very affected by someone's abandonment. They need a support too.

So, I think Lance and Allura were always(as Olivia said) one step foward and three steps back. And I don't mean the issue of their relationship, that is already apart.

Unfortunately, we couldn't saw a season where we could explore Lance's self problems, but with the things we have about him, maybe we can say that this applies to him too.

But don't be sad for this.

Maybe I'm just someone who spends a lot of time thinking about details of a children's series, and in another universe Allura and Lance got married, or separated and later found THAT special someone and whaterver.

Krolia A-Z Fluff Headcanons

A = affection (how affectionate are they in day to day life? Do they show affection publicly or keep that more in private?)

~ Krolia has a professional rep to keep up, but while in public she'll at least hold your hand

~ If no one's around or watching she'll nuzzle you

~ When in private, she loves cuddling and nuzzling you while sitting on the couch or on the bed

B = best memory (what is the best memory they have with you)

~ Krolia's best memory with you was your first Christmas together when you introduced her to your favorite tradition

C = cat or dog person (this is pretty obvious)

~ Krolia thinks most dogs are cute, but she prefers cats

~ Kosmo is an exception because he's the family pet and he's super affectionate

D = dreams (what do they want to do in life?)

~ Krolia is a very loyal Blade operative, so that never left her much time to do what she wanted to in life

~ But when she was young, Krolia wanted to visit other planets

~ Normally it wouldn't bother you unless you're cold too

~ When Krolia's relaxed (which is all the time now that the war is over) she's a very heavy sleeper

~ During her time while undercover in Ranveig's fleet Krolia was a very light sleeper and woke up at any little noise

~ Krolia sleeps with you in the spooning position

~ As much as she likes being the big spoon, sometimes she likes being the little spoon

~ Krolia wakes up in a good mood, especially now that she gets to wake up with you

Defender of the Voltron- Romelle

Ok so today I’m going to defend one of the unpopular-side character.

First thing please Lotor stans, this is not about him. I love his character but this is about Romelle and I’m doing this review from her side of view.

Also in this review my intent is not to offend any religion or believes. PLEASE HAVE THAT IN MIND.

If i do offend you I apologize.

So what we know about her, except that she was kind of used as a plot device and then creators tried to smash her into side character? She could have been amazing just like Amue-Romelle in DOTU which was a bad-ass princes that went through hell and still stayed strong.

Well VLD Romelle shares some resemblance, or it’s better to say one resemblance. And that is she is strong.

Romelle is incredibly strong and smart girl.

If we focus on the fact that she grew up in the colony surrounded by Alteans that knew nothing of the world for last 10 000 years we can see that she is something that would be described as black sheep. She wasn't like others Alteans who blindly followed their savior. From our own world we know that people blindly following any kind of “saviors” can bring catastrophe.

Alteans did do anything that Honerva told them, they even killed innocent, or at least didn't mind doing it all in order to save Lotor.

Romelle was not like them. She didn't followed this “Lotor cult” blindly. She wondered about other things. She asked questions of where do chosen Alteans go, why can’t they talk to them, why don’t they return, why is too dangerous to contact them?

All of this was in a mind of a young (I believe 15 year old) girl.

I also have a theory that Bandor made a communicator in order to prove Romelle that her doubts are wrong but ironically ended finding up for her to be right. I also believe that is how he run away.

After Bandor left we saw that Romelle was lonely, I believe it’s because of her difference. As we all know people who think differently are usually not really liked in society (especially small communities) and only can get a support from their families. So when Bandor left, Romelle was left to hope that she was wrong only to find out that she was right.

Bandor dies in Romelle’s hands, which can be incredibly harsh for a person. Losing beloved ones by someone even by accident can create huge amount of hatred, and the fact that Bandor was a younger brother, a brother she was supposed to protect,but couldn't.

As someone who has a younger sibling; I can confirm that I would never forgive if anyone would hurt my siblings, so the fact that Lotor who Bandor trusted, betrayed him; affects Romelle deeply. Her family, her friends are betrayed by the the man they put their lives on. She could never trust or forgive Lotor after it.

After her brother’s death Romelle was left alone again in her small and mind closed society to grieve in silence. She couldn't tell anyone the truth knowing nobody will believe her. And trust me; I know that feeling. People have tendency to protect people they trust, they have difficult time understanding the reality of dark side people they admire, and these Alteans admired Lotor as he was a God or some kind of Masaya. She knew her words would only be used against her.

In s8 we see how brainwashed and uncooperative were Alteans, how easily they judged her, not even wanting to hear her out. They knew her their whole life and still took a words of stranger over a words of their own friend. This only proves her point of not telling anyone.

Also if I got it right Alteans also knew what Voltron was, so they were just being dumb. Seriously aren't these guys supposed to be smartest in the universe? How did they fall so low?)

So this young girl was left in a lion den alone without voice, or someone to listen. She had to deal with all pain all alone, not even knowing all the facts which can be even worse than knowing the truth.

When Keith and Krolia found second colony she realized that her believes were worse than she thought.

All she could feel is hatred, betrayal, loneliness, sadness, but she was still positive and strong.

Not to mention that moment when she tells the truth to the Allura she doesn’t know if Allura will trust her. She is scared and unsure of Allura’s judgement but she doesn't stay quiet; not this time!!! If she couldn't save her family she will fight to avenge them.

In s7 e1, e2, she was showed as someone childish but still very much able to fight, and made her interesting. This is a part where creators lost all the chances they had.

She could have major role in trying to explain to Alteans who and what Honerva and Lotor did (if they had to be villains), but no. She was just a sidekick, with small amount of screen time while the show focused on earth team and other unimportant characters.

All in all Romelle is a sweet girl growing up in a small community that relied on old believes and didn't mind following rules blindly. Romelle was a black sheep, she was different. She didn't just wanted to be a part of something bigger like Luca, no she was a part of something bigger. She asked questions, she demanded answers, she reached outside of the box. In my opinion she is like those people who believe, but have some doubts and want answered either way. She takes steps, she doesn't stay in the spot.

if there were never people like her... well our society would be very backward.

I do love Lotor but I can’t hate Romelle, I can only be angry at creators for not giving her a chance to prove.
