I had a weird dream last night about a picture book @okamiwolven really wanted me to read. It was about a worm skull thing who kept adding more skulls to itself every page & getting scared as it started filling up too much space, a la ‘There’s A Monster at the End of This Book’. (the pages were rly long. To fit more skulls). It looked like this:

Onestar (Warrior Cats)
Today I’m gonna rant about Onestar from the Warrior Cats series.
Let me just begin from what point I started to hate Onestar to the point where I could break the book whenever I see his name on the page.
So before Onestar was Onewhisker. We saw him appear in the books when Firestar (Fireheart then) arrived at the Gathering. Onewhisker and Fireheart became friends shortly after and everything seemed to be going smoothly.
But after Tallstar left the chat and Mudclaw having a temper tantrum because good ol' Tallstar had a last minute decision that Onewhisker should be leader and Mudclaw as deputy, Mudclaw led a rebellion against his leader. And then Firestar supported Onestar as they announced the news to WindClan.
But Onestar just had to lead an attack, yes, AN ATTACK, against ThunderClan just to prove himself?! Um, hello, Onestar? Where did your memory cells go? Firestar literally supported you, helped you, and even lost a life just to save your pathetic ass, you dumb shit! And now you’re leading unnecessary raids and attacks and what-not against Firestar and his Clan!
You literally said it yourself in Fire and Ice: “You would have died for us. WindClan will never forget that.” Well, did those words even matter anymore? Like I said, where are you memory cells?
Heck, maybe Mudclaw would be more sensible than Onestar. Tallstar, you should have just let things be because Onestar is just a useless pile of horseshit. He just acts like he can rule the world because he’s leader.
Firestar was the best of a friend you could ask for and you just go out of your way to harm him and his Clan. You could mention Firestar and before you even finish the word he’s already hissing, his fur is bristled, his claws are out.
Onestar… you went from a very cheerful and actually enjoyable character to an annoying and hostile-for-no-reason twat as a leader.
Erins. I need a word about this character.
Honestly, I don’t think anybody will even choose Onestar as their favourite character anymore. He doesn’t even seem redeemable from this shit.
He exiles Crowdeather just for calling him out. He eats his words from Fire and Ice. His son almost fucking destroyed the Clans. He endangered his Clan.
I am very, very, very concerned for the future of WindClan.
Erins. You just fucked up a good character to a monstrous brown thing. And yes, I called him a thing because he doesn’t even deserve to be a cat anymore.
When he dies (better be soon), Onestar better rot in the Dark Forest. I fucking hate him so much I’m tempted to reach into the book and stab him.
WindClan ain't gonna be popular if their leader is just a crazy bitch attacking others for no reason, Onestar.
Yeah, yowl all you want.
But you’re just another annoying twat and remember that.

sorry for sending you an ask about this but i saw your tags on the warrior cats post about neutering and i just wanted to let you know that they actually do take away the cats balls, they leave the sack but the balls are what gets removed. eventually the sack shrinks and like goes away because of the lack of nuts inside. so i guess bluestar did know what she was talking about in the end
this is. literally what i said. also, i've had neutered male cats with balls (or a sack as you put it, i am using informal words here) that you can see. which is. where i'm getting my information from. btw.
so. Bluestar still had to have looked at a lot of kittypet ass very closely to figure this out.
plus, gonna reiterate, we should also consider that this series just isn't very well written. in all seriousness, as a writer myself, Warriors is a badly written series that should have ended over a dozen books ago, with authors who make shit up & don't bother to communicate with each other about their new headcanons & characterizations. not shitting on it (i love Warriors) but we should remember that there's like a million orange female cats & calico/tortie male cats, Graystripe's parents are siblings, & nothing actually killed Firestar on his last life, he just dropped dead randomly for the drama.
it's fun to speculate, but also Bluestar was just saying that shit about the cutter cuz of Rusty needing a final push to leave his twolegs. it was entirely for plot reasons & the authors never actually did research to make anything in this series accurate.

Think you can Hide from Me?
Tumblr media
Gif is not mine!
Pairing: Boba Fett x Reader
Summary: You’ve infiltrated into Jabba’s palace with Lando in order to rescue Han. Even though you hated being here, you were safely undercover as just another random piece of scum and villainy in the underworld… Or so you thought.
Warnings: 18+, slight knife play, choking
Two Parts! Smut will be in the second part!
Author’s Notes: This is also posted on my account on Ao3! Aena Firestar, that’s me! But yeah, I love Boba Fett. A distraction to keep the plan safe and undercover, of course.;)
Part 2: The Distraction
Part 3: The Regret
Part 4: The Reunion
--
PART 1: The Infiltrator
It felt like you’d been here for weeks.
Hell, maybe you had been here for weeks. The place was dark, hazy, musty and packed, but you had a job to do. You never thought you’d find yourself longing to see the twin suns of Tatooine but here you were.
Lando was the only thing keeping you sane right now. Even though the both of you could only interact sparingly so as to not draw attention, he would cut his eyes at you from across the room or give you a subtle nod of reassurance.
Han was always in your field of vision, though, and it frustrated you. No matter if you were at the bar, sitting in a lone dark corner, or just stretching your legs, he was positioned just so that no matter where you went, you’d always catch a glimpse of him frozen in carbonite. He was one of your best friends, and you were about half ready to smack Luke for taking so long.
The other issue was the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett. He hovered like some predator animal, always stalking around the palace and setting you on edge. The worst part was that you liked it. You’d seen Boba Fett twice before, both times in Mos Eisley. You were at least half certain he wouldn’t remember you. Your meetings had been insignificant at the time and you were certain he hadn’t seen your face, but there had been some kind of tension between the two of you… You were a bit scared of him because you knew what he could do, but at the same time you were so damn attracted to him. One of the things you hated, however, was that you couldn’t tell where his eyes were because of the helmet. Whenever you’d be sitting by yourself, looking mean and keeping others away from you… Your (e/c) eyes would always drag over to where he was, and he always seemed to be watching.
You couldn’t deny the slight feeling of adrenaline and even somewhat admiration for him. But then, admiration may not have been the right word. Still, you’d always heard the saying that if someone kept eye contact with you for more than six seconds, they either wanted to fuck you or kill you. The only problem was that you really weren’t sure which one Boba Fett wanted to act on. You were a hundred percent certain you’d stared at each other for much longer than six seconds. He was mysterious, dangerous, and skilled, and even though you had a mission, you wouldn’t mind creating a distraction for the sake of it.
It was another day, and the band was playing. You watched from under your hood as the dancers began to do their best to appease Jabba, but you could never watch for too long. Instead of watching more, you turned and headed to the bar and took an empty seat. Ordering something non-alcoholic was out of the question in this place, so you just did your best to order the weakest thing and nurse it so you’d be ready in case things started to get dicey.
“You’ve been here awhile.”
And things just got dicey.
You tensed only slightly. From excitement or nervousness, you weren’t sure, but you hid it well. The modulator in his helmet did nothing to hide his accent. You cut your (e/c) eyes to the right just a moment and sure enough Boba Fett was right beside you, leaned against the bar.
“So have you,” a simple answer, voice steady and indifferent. You had no idea what would happen if you blew this, and you didn’t want to think about it. You didn’t move, hoping your hood would hide you enough.
“Who are you,” it sounded like more of a demand than a question.
“Name’s Raz,” you already had a cover name ready, “and you’re Boba Fett. Nice to meet you. Now if you’re done, leave me to my drink.”
“I could do that,” he said rather casually, “or you could take a walk with me.”
Now that was tempting, but you had to keep your head in this. There was still a very large chance that he would kill you. You couldn’t help but snort a laugh before you took a drink. “I’ll pass, thanks.”
He moved closer to you, and before you could react, you felt something sharp pressing into your ribs. You tensed even more, a soft, quick breath hissing past your lips.
“I don’t think you will. Come on. Walk with me,” his voice was demanding, but steady.
Well, you tried. Slowly, you abandoned your drink and stood to your feet. He never removed the knife, but pulled you closer against him and led you carefully out of the room. No attention was drawn at all, and you were a little surprised by how subtle he was being. He dragged you through the hallways, and you weren’t entirely sure how many corners you both turned, but you were sufficiently away from the crowd and any curious eyes. He’d led you somewhere he wouldn’t be bothered.
Suddenly, you were slammed against the wall and his knife was at your throat.
“Fuck!” You hissed, pressing back as close against the wall as you could. His knife hovered just above your neck and you swallowed thickly as you looked up into the dark visor of his helmet. Your hood was ripped back and your face revealed.
“Don’t think I don’t know who you are,” Boba warned. “Think you can hide from me?”
“I’m not hiding. I came here for a reason.”
“Then you better tell me quick, sweetheart. I can never forget this face,” he let his knife drag lazily down the soft skin of your neck. It made you shiver, something dark and pleasant twisting in your stomach. “ (Y/N) I know you run with Solo.”
“It’s true, I did ,” you didn’t want him catching onto the plan. “But look where he’s at now? I need to make a living still. I need a job, I came here to see about one… I just didn’t plan on you being here, Boba. You’re a hell of a distraction, you know that?” You breathed out, your eyes running down his form, taking in his armor and the way he still had you pressed against the wall.
Shit , you thought. This was bad. You were foolish to think he wouldn’t remember you, but maybe you could turn this to your advantage.
“Am I?” Boba rasped out, leaning closer. “I remember the way you looked at me, little one. Those eyes following me, so attentive, that soft gasp that left those lips… Why are you so intrigued by me, hm?”
“I’m intrigued, and I’m afraid,” you admitted softly. “I know you could kill me if you wanted to. Your reputation is just something I don’t want to fuck with.”
“What do you want to fuck with, (Y/N)?” He growled.
“Do you really not know?” You smirked. “Come on, Fett…I thought you were more clever than that-” you hissed a breath as his hand closed around your throat. It tightened only a bit. He sheathed his knife and used his free hand to lift his helmet up. Your heart raced as his face was revealed to you. He leaned down and hovered his mouth just above yours, tightening his grip on your neck.
“Think carefully sweetheart…”
“Now where’s the fun in that?” You breathed the challenge out. His dark eyes ran over your face, lingering on your lips.
His mouth was on yours in an instant, dominant and hot. You couldn’t help the moan that escaped as your lips and tongue paid him back in kind. Maybe you were veering a little from the mission, but at least you were distracting one of the best bounty hunters here. That was helping, right?
Your thoughts were silenced as he shoved his tongue into your mouth. You gasped softly and let yours tease him in return. He pulled back only slightly and that gave you the opening to bite his bottom lip and suck on it gently. He pulled away and you licked your lips as you stared up at him. His dark eyes bore into yours.
“You gonna try to put a knife in my back if we do this?” His voice was husky. Suddenly, you felt a knee push up between your legs and it made you whimper and sigh shakily.
“No. But I’d much rather you put something in me .” You meant for your words to come out as a challenge, an order, but they sounded much more like a beg. You grinded against his knee and bit your lip as you felt that heat pool between your legs. Boba was getting into it, he couldn’t help himself. His hand trailed from your throat down to your breast and groped at you, making your back arch and your head lean back against the wall. His free hand had a bruising grip on your hip and pulled you into another grind.
“I can do that, (Y/N). How about we finish this in my room? I can strip you properly and give you what you really came here for…” His hand moved from your breast and dragged roughly down your stomach, making you shiver. He curled his glove covered fingers between your legs, rubbing you through your pants. You gasped and rutted against him.
“I’m all yours,” you barely managed to get the words out.
“Good girl.”

cloudtail’s daughter: cinderheart
alright well third character: cinderheart.
i'm going to be honest, i don't care enough about cinderheart to have a lot to say about this. i'm finishing it in the morning, and i'm starting it in night, so watch this be longer than dovewing's (fat chance i wrote like 4k words about dovewing because, and i can't say this enough, i lovewing dovewing), but i'm not feeling particularly inspired at the moment.
ohhh wait i changed my mind this is the one where i get to talk about cinderpelt again, isn't it? yeessss i take it all back i've been waiting to write this since i first wrote cinder back in dovewing's character
anyway as per usual, this is part of an au where dovekit and ivykit are born to brightheart and cloudtail. go ahead and click the cloudtail's daughter tag if you want to see more about this. this is probably pretty dependent on knowing what happens to dovewing in the au, but i'd say compared to lionblaze, its still more self standing because it's significantly more verbose, so it's not reliant on filling in the gaps as much, because this is filling in the gaps.
[3k words, 10 minute read. section headers. a little bit jumpy.]
section one: cinderpelt and cinderkit --- an exposé on reincarnation
you don't need me to tell you warriors reincarnation is weird. to make my life easy, here is how it works:
true reincarnations -- jay's wing/jayfeather, dove's wing/dovewing, lion's roar/lionblaze. only one soul exists. half moon will reunite with jayfeather. or ig he can decide to go by jay's wing. dovewing and lionblaze may or may not regain their memories on death; it's not important to this story so i'm not decided
starclan induced reincarnations -- cinderpelt's soul gets shoved into cinderkit. they now share. this was, ah, very dangerous, because cinderkit and/or cinderkit's soul could have died. but she didn't. as cinderkit grows into her own person, she and cinderpelt will grow either increasingly intertwined (i.e., cinderpelt weaves into cinderheart, and is never fully awakened.) when they die, idk what happens. it's not very nice.
luckily, that didn't happen. instead, cinderheart grows apart and cinderpelt basically is a voice in her head. eventually, at some point, idk, cinderpelt frees herself. i'm sure i'll figure that out in this post, but i don't know yet.
so that's their deal.
section two: cinderheart and lionblaze
alright, cinderheart and lionblaze are not going to be a conflict thing, because of destiny. i'm just, that's. well it's a step up from the standard romance drama, but i still hated it. so anyway, cinderheart knows lionblaze is in L-O-V-E with her, but she's kind of holding out until he's more mature/responsible.
she's also not ready for kits, and that's the only way a warriors romance can be officially codified.
jk, but in seriousness, they're already close, similar to sandstorm and fireheart in books 2-4 or so of TPB. she's just not ready to take him as a mate yet, and he's kind of funny as a bumbling fool. that said, she does care a lot about him and if he pushed her, or circumstances pushed her, she'd be willing to be upfront about it.
cinderpelt is happy cinderheart is finding love, but she does kind of wish it wasn't with lionblaze. not because he's an idiot, after all, cinderpelt had a crush on fireheart before he finished growing a brain, but because she is worried about the prophecy. and lionblaze dying and leaving cinderheart alone. so cinderheart has some internal conflict about this, but she has internal conflict over whether she wants thrush or mouse some days. side effect of having two souls in one body. she keeps it wrapped up because she's pretty sure she's into lionblaze and cinderpelt is unsure, and she doesn't need to confuse the situation anymore.
yeah, by the time this series begins, cinderheart and cinderpelt are really two separate entities, and cinderpelt is getting ready to leave. she's just sort of waiting. it's until cinderheart and lionblaze confirm they're mates. why? because that's when it happens in the original and i can't think of a better time. also, it kind of completes cinderpelt's small crush on fireheart.
(it really wasn't that big. sandstorm just made a big deal out of it because she was jealous.)
section three: dovepaw
right, so cinderheart is hype for dovepaw. the dovepaw is real sweet and quiet and cinderheart feels good about that. so they're excited.
cinderheart and dovepaw go out for territory and cinderheart is like "she's on top of shit this dovepaw" and dovepaw catches a mouse or two and cinderheart is super proud and supportive and everyone is happy.
and then cinderheart starts to feel like she's failing dovepaw, because dovepaw just can't get anything else down. lionblaze and ivypaw, on the other hand, are having basically no issues. so she feels like she's failing dovepaw, and she's a little insecure about that, so cinderheart and dovepaw tag along with lionblaze and ivypaw a lot.
as you can guess, this makes everything worse.
cinderheart realizes dovepaw is sneaking out at night and is like "well this is a problem i'm not equipped to deal with" and frets over it for a while, unsure of who to talk to without geting dovepaw in trouble. (lionblaze also snuck out as an apprentice, he's an unreliable source.)
so she doesn't tell anyone at first, just makes sure dovepaw is still getting sufficient rest for a young cat. (she isn't.) eventually, she lets it slip to hollyleaf who talks about it with lionblaze who ivypaw overhears, but ivypaw is the last character i'm covering in this set of essays.
dovepaw gets trapped in the tunnels for three days, and cinderheart feels like she's failed her charge. also, brightheart is kind of mad at cinderheart because she feels that cinderheart didn't really do anything to stop dovepaw from feeling like she needed to prove herself and like, brightheart's not wrong, but it's also unfair to cinderheart. so cinderheart blames herself a whole lot because dovepaw is dead now and it's her fault.
when dovepaw gets back cinderheart only barely punishes her, and dovepaw has had enough exploration, so being confined to camp is only barely a punishment anyway. cinderheart vows that she's going to do better, do right, by dovepaw (although she's really been doing pretty okay no one is really blaming cinderheart, even brightheart has gotten over it now that dovepaw is back and safe and alive.)
section four: can you hear what i hear?
so when dovepaw gets back, cinderheart takes her out once she's recovered, and dovepaw is like "so where are the creatures with the clicky-clackies?" and cinderheart has no idea what's going on.
but cinderheart, despite being lumped in the "two braincells" category that the first three pov characters have (seriously if you haven't read my breakdown of this au as a whole you may want to because i've written so much for it that i'm definitely skipping details. now that my pace has slowed from "about 10k words in one weekend" to "2k words a day" it's better but still), is not an idiot. she's seen the lake get smaller. times are getting hard. there was a gathering while dovepaw was in the tunnels that cinderheart went to and it was real rough. so she's like. hm. maybe. dovepaw is starclan chosen or something? it would explain why she's spacy all the time.
cinderheart gets all the info she can from dovepaw and then has to figure out whether she's taking this to firestar or jayfeather.
i'm not 100% how this resolves, but eventually, cinderheart and dovepaw go to firestar to discuss the beavers. cinderheart does most of the talking, dovepaw is just kind of there nodding along.
so the standard canon thing happens and they all get ready for the trip. i feel like i've done a pretty in-depth breakdown of this for dovewing, and hollyleaf will get one too, so i'm just going to say, other than hollyleaf also coming, it's pretty much canon.
section five: the tribe
oh man it's the cinderheart book and whoo boy am i excited for this one.
alright alright alright so dovepaw is doing the Late Nights again, but its to see tigerheart. so cinderheart is uh, not very aware of it this time?
dovepaw is older and smarter (barely) and more importantly knows she can’t get caught again.
so dovepaw real tired, real close to tigerheart at gatherings, and cinderheart is like “hm maybe something is up” and cinderpelt is like “yeah keep an eye on that”
(an aside: so cinderpelt’s presence is kind of a nagging one in cinderheart’s life. it’s not that she’s not the same cinderpelt we know and love, but she’s a kind of omnipresent authority figure, so she reads a bit differently. but she’s still our wonderful cinderpelt. no fear.)
and ivypaw tells lionblaze that dovepaw is sneaking out (see here for lionblaze, literally 0 awareness) and he tells cinderheart and cinderheart is like “well that checks” and cinderpelt is like “hm remember fernpaw and dustpelt”
“ferncloud is like a second mother to me no i don’t know the details of her romance”
“yea well...”
you know, cinderheart's almost worried dovepaw is going to have kits real soon after becoming a warrior and there are approximately 0 thunderclan toms she's close enough with for that to be applicable.
(for the record, they are not that close. cinderpelt is concerned not just because forbidden romance, but also because of how young leafpool was. not impossibly young by any means, but still fairly young.)
so then through uhhh who knows memory? convenient stormfur is convenient? haven't decided yet, but anyway, cinderheart decides the tribe can help them. (the real reason is because i want the tribe to solve a clan problem for once. the stated reason is probably something like "dovepaw feels too much pressure after the beavers" or "long journeys are good for apprentices" i mean look brambestar dgaf about where warriors are going so why should i?)
lionblaze and ivypaw come along and cinderheart is like "great i just told this guy that i don't want to change anything between us until i'm done mentoring dovepaw and now he's tagging along with this? where's a hollyleaf when you need her?"
(hollyleaf is living with her ghost boyfriend, cinderheart, she is no longer a reliable source of buffering between you and lionblaze. also, cinderheart, this isn't coming up in this au because again ending in step with canon but please consider: lesbians.)
anyway, the four of them set out and dovepaw and ivypaw still aren't talking which is getting really old, really fast.
eventually, after a day or two of travelling in basically silence, ivypaw and dovepaw do start to talk again. one goal down. (my conviction that travelling books are good, actually, remains untested, but i'm determined to prove it.)
okay, so i've been reading all my notes in detail as i start actually drafting this, which means my essay content is morphing further into writing notes. you can tell because i'm skipping bigger sections, or adding notes about purpose in story, etc. this is just a warning that since i last worked on this, i've actually begun writing the book this stuff takes place in (the first book only matters if you're dovekit or ivykit, so the fact that i'm writing it doesn't really have an effect. i just wanted to start with something low-stakes.) so like, on one hand, i should have more figured out, but on the other hand, my comments are going to be a lot looser and i wouldn't be surprised if i just straight up contradict something i already said (i do edit my posts but not heavily and only if i think they're something i'm going to point people back towards. i'd rather point people to my archive once i start posting, so.) anyway, this is just a warning for this and anything else in the CTD essay series (hollyleaf, jayfeather, ivypool, as well as the books, growing shadows, fading echoes, distant whispers, and whatever the canon names are but switch book 4 and 5), that it's going to be less "here's a summary of what i'm going to do" and more "here are my thoughts about what i'm doing"
right that note aside, the travelling party makes it to the mountains. there's drama, probably? none of them have been to the mountains IIRC? i know jayfeather has but i don't think the others went with him (bramble did? hm i'll have to research) but okay so the point is, they make it to the tribe as the mountain is getting colder and this is where i have to deviate from my trend of realism the most because they're going to stay on the tribe for much longer than they should. my timeline has ivy/dove born in leafbare at the beginning of the season (easier math), so this is early-mid leaf fall, and the mountain would be unpassable really soon. but i don't want that, so we're going to pretend they have 2-3 moons before it's truly impassable, or the story flows a lot worse because i really want the drought to be in green leaf because it just sets up a hard hitting winter which is a good tension/drama fodder machine.
unfortunately, i'm limited in who i can kill off, but what can you do?
right so anyway, they're in the tribe and cinderheart present dovepaw and stoneteller is like "huh ig this could work sure why not" and dovepaw is enlisted to be a tribe to-be. she's not given an offiical whatever the tribe word for mentor is, (does the tribe have individual mentors? i can't remember off the top of my head), but she's more or less the same as any othet tribe to-be. the fact that she's so fluffy is a bonus. keeps her warm.
cinderheart is less at-home in the tribe, but she works with the prey hunters and generally gets along. i'm not sure. maybe she makes friends? (this is literally her book she definitely does interesting things i just don't know who lives in the tribe off the top of my head. her life does not revolve around dovepaw like 100%. she has to sort out some cinderpelt stuff in this book it's just very internal and i'm not entirely sure how it goes yet.)
so cinderheart and dovepaw are doing their thing for a bit. they get a good chance to explore tribe culture. it's good. everything is good. cinderheart is still definitely mentoring dovepaw, but what that means right now is a lot of modeling how to be a good learner, rather than explicitly teaching. cinderheart herself is preparing and thinking about how to transfer these skills to thunderclan.
uh yeah so anyway it's getting close to winter so they gotta head out, and the tribe is like "off u go food is tight in leafbare/whatever-they-call-winter" and the four of them set out.
okay so i'm going to skip to cinderheart's second book, because honestly, arc one narrators all get thrown in BGCH until they're needed in arc 2. (i mean, tbf, jayfeather has done literally nothing in all of arc one. nothing. he's just there, occasionally being like "no firestar, don't make dovepaw my apprentice!" and that's pretty much it.)
and basically so while jayfeather and hollyleaf are off having ghost romances (that's the entire plot of their book it's ghost romance), cinderheart and lionblaze are just having a relationship. dovewing and ivypool are warriors now, so cinderheart does have background drama of being worried because dovewing is still seeing tigerheart ("we took her on a whole mountain vacation and she's still obsessed with him?"), but like, it's very chill for a while.
and then sol comes back.
oh man, sol comes back and it's gonna be a big deal. yeah. it's a big deal for cinderheart, and hopefully this will be an interesting section, because cinderheart is a very different character from the OG oots crew, and she's going to handle problems in a different way, and this is the first chance we get to see that. the beavers don't count she was j chilling with whatever dovepaw said and the tribe is certainly a good example of her character (caring, resourceful, outside the box), but that's the set up. sol is the pay off.
so cinderheart is pleased by sol, but also generally wary. you gotta remember, cinderheart has been on a lot of extra curricular field trips. she's met a lot of cats. (note to self: include more loners.) she's a quick judge of character. and sol, you know, he's a lot.
so she keeps an eye on him, and she expresses her concern to hollyleaf, and hollyleaf is like, yeah, sure, i'll help.
so hollyleaf is like "so by the way, sol is in the tunnels." and cinderheart is like "this is going to be a problem" and cinderpelt who is now in starclan is like "oh she's finally learning."
so i'm not entirely sure on the details here because i haven't plotted out the ending three books in nearly as much detail (i mean on the blog i have but in my head where i keep all the plot lines i haven't) but cinderheart is going to solve the problem and she'll do it in a different way.
thunderclan definitely still learns to fight in the tunnels because they need to for battle purposes. (oh, to be a windclan tunnler, looking down in sadness from starclan about what my clan has lost.)
and yeah leaving cinderheart here because she retreats to BGCH after completing her duty of being a meanful character.
cinderheart? done.

two in one day, I’m sorry mod but I’m living for these warriors debates
someone mentioned hollyleaf and PoT is literally the furthers I’ve read so it’s the freshest in my memory. potential spoilers for power of three ahead?
so, Hollyleaf is a young thunderclan warrior who is described as being a black shecat with green eyes. she is the biological daughter of leafpool and crowfeather, adopted by squirrelflight and Brambleclaw. her siblings are jayfeather and Lionblaze, 2/3 of the prophesized cats to have special powers. Holly was expected to be the third with these powers, but she didn’t have any speciality. her half brother was crowfeather’s son, breezepelt. adder something or other and sparkpelt can also be considered her adopted siblings as they’re the kits of squirrelflight and bramblestar.
for starters we’re going to dive into Holly’s personality a bit. she’s very stubborn and determined, extremely faithful to the code, and oftentimes comes off with a sense of self righteousness. she also tends to be rather naggy with brothers, but she means well and, despite being overprotective at times, has proven that she does have a bit of a fun side. lionblaze is usually better about bringing out her fun side.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat my opinion on her. she’s a shitty character. I liked her development up until she was made a warrior, and from there I literally just wanted to see her burn she’s such a shit fest in herself and it’s just, holly has me beyond words bro
but I can’t just say that without providing sufficient reasoning, so here we go again
the first notable holly, lion and jay shenanigan was when they thought they were big shit and went looking for fox. well, of course, they were dumb fuck and the trio ended up needing rescuing. there isn’t much to hate her for in this instance apart from not holding her ground. she originally thought it was a terrible idea, how fucking rational! but then I’m pretty sure she flipped up, got hyped, and was the one who almost got killed so. in all fairness, she was a lot, but this is also the equivalent of a toddler deciding it’s a good idea to post up to a bear so
next, was the whole Lion and Heather ordeal with the tunnels. granted, the situation wasn’t her fault, she did end up getting involved and when they almost drowned she wasn’t very helpful and was panicking like a dumbass most of the time. I think she did come up with the idea to use the river to escape, but then I think she also tried to invalidate her own plan by saying it was too risky. that’s fair, but at the same time y’all r finna die bro stop. so, she has a pretty blatant history of indecision in the w o r s t possible situations, and that’s frustrating to a reader.
next, the daylight gathering. there isn’t much to talk about here, but if I remember correctly she was chosen for a hunting trial and either cheated herself or helped someone else cheat?? I’m fairly positive it was her at least, but don’t quote me on that, this point might be invalid. either way, she did some dumb shit during the daylight gathering and it was annoying. but she did help lionpaw and breezepaw back to camp when they were buried alive so, props to her
and then there was the issue with wanting to be a medicine apprentice. not only did she spontaneously decide to flip ranks in the middle of her warrior training, she was a shit medic. she wasn’t able to retain any of the information she was fed, she was oftentimes snappy and rude towards cats who asked her about it and towards patients who were offering encouragement, and she used the rank as some sort of petty leverage over her brothers as if she were too good for them during the time she was training under Leafpool. and when she finally called quits, she gave a very half assed apology to her littermates and even went as far as threatening them (although playfully) to never bring it up again. I’m biased and don’t like her, so feel free to ignore me when I say wHAT a BITCH dude
and the infamous fire scene. of course poor, helpless holly offered absolutely NO assistance in rescuing them and almost didn’t even make it out because she was being a little woose about it. it’s just fire bro what’s it gonna do, burn you? tch. no, but fr I think she also said sum dumb shit like “we’re gonna die like this” & it made me mad because 1. no shit sherlock & 2. who asked. like they were literally trying to collectively save themselves with squirrelflight and she just goes into dramatic movie mode about it
and when she killed Ashfur?? only to tell all four clans the thing she tried to keep him from telling ONE clan???????? dumb 👏 ass 👏 HOE 👏 and like, why did you need to do that in a public environment, bring shame to Firestar, Leafpool, crowfeather, squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Breezepelt, AND Nightcloud? plus you almost completely ruined Squirrel x Bramble u shitass bagelfuck.
and I think this goes beyond PoT so I don’t have the exact context, but I do know that Holly basically disappeared into the tunnels just because the going got tough and she literally put her whole family through all that grief for MOONS only to resurface when Dove & Ivy we’re in trouble as kits, and then again during a war only to get vibe checked by Hawkfrost and put them through that very same grief AGAIN. she was also unofficially mates with a ghost and that’s weird as hell so
anyways, this was definitely more biased than usual because I hate Holly with a passion, and I probably missed a few things or got a few things wrong, but that’s my two cents thank you and good night

Who are your favourite and least favourite characters in each arc you've read? And is there a difference between your favourite/least favourite characters as they stand within the arc alone and favourite/least favourite characters as they stand throughout the entire series?
Hello Anon,
What a question! This one’s going to take us a moment... so many cats and such foggy memories...
First Arc:
Laika: I don’t know how to choose just one... I always adored Whitestorm for being a stand-up kinda guy, but equally much so as Brackenfur, or the sassy Cinderpelt... (I also adored Onewhisker and Stonefur if we’re looking outside of ThunderClan). My two least favourite cats are fighting really hard for first place, but I just can’t decide. On the one hand, Darkstripe was just an irredeemable, foul kinda guy... though all of the villains really fall short, just as far as quality and ambitions go. And then... Spottedleaf. No more words need to be said as far as that goes, methinks.
Anne: Fave: Cinderpelt 'n Sandstorm (both are awesome, have nice development and actual personalities/interactions) "Non"fave: SpottedFUCKINGleaf for obvious reasons (no reason for being in the story, no meaning behind existence, creepy af romance subplot and general stalking)
Second Arc:
Laika: My memory gets really fuzzy here; you have to remember I last touched these books ten years ago, but I remember feeling excited reading Stormfur and Tawnypelt’s names, which I suppose means I liked them! As for least favourite... er, Brambleclaw’s whole Daddy Issues plot seemed kind of forced... and he’s not really... a nice guy??
Anne: Fave: Squirrelflight 'n Tawnypelt (chicks with sass who don't take shit sitting down) Nonfave: Brambleclaw stfu about your whining for one second pls
Third Arc:
Laika: Erm... I remember I did start off enjoying Jaypaw quite a bit, because this was the first time we had just a straight up pessimistic sasslord for a POV. But it got old and he just wound up a copy of his never-developing father. I also liked Heatherpaw for a while but that also kind of... ended. Maybe... Flametail?? Or Littlecloud??Least fave... that whole Ashfur thing is pretty iconic. Just another badly written ass-pull of a villain. I might just still be miffed that he was excused for his actions but... *grumble grumble* Also Breezpelt yuck. Actually, in retrospect I dislike him a lot more than Ash.
Anne: Fave: ... not anyone?? Heatherpaw for a while, then... umm... I kinda did like Breezepaw and Nightcloud. It was mixed with pity of course, but I thought they had potential (that went unused ofc but oh well)Nonfave: Crowassfeather bc his assholery kinda went through the fucking roof
Fourth Arc:
Laika: I didn’t like Ivypaw one bit but boy did she grow on me. Literally the only redeemable part of that whole arc... this is actually where I stopped reading them.As for her sister.... I do noooot like her or her boy-toy, Tigerangst the III... yech. Worst POV I think we’ve ever gotten. And Lionblaze was just soooo booorriinnggg.
Anne: Fave: Ivypool, sole light of hope and competent iQ of the lot Nonfave: Dovewing bc dumb af also SPOTTEDLEAF Y ARE U STILL HERE GTFU (she thankfully got the message tho lol)
Aaaand then neither of us have touched the books since then.
I’m afraid to your second question, the only answer we can give is Fireheart > Firestar, if that’s along the lines of what you were asking. To analyze every charcter... this would very soon turn into an article. But thank you for the question!

an abridged history/explanation of warrior cats if you didn’t read them as a kid and have questions (a primer)
welcome. i’m going to keep things to the point, this is not a plot summary, just, well, its a pandemic and people are seeking items of childhood comfort and its come to my attention that a lot of people didn’t read these books as kids and then they come up in conversation and they act shocked so! i felt compelled to write this.
[2.5k words, 10min read. section headers, no pictures. not a ton of helpful formatting. i don’t want to say don’t read this because obviously i wrote it and think it’s worth reading, but i’ll be honest, this is a lot.]
section one: about me
i was an avid reader as a child, most of which fits solidly into “stories for another time,” and some of which would necessitate me adding tags onto this post that are, well, not necessary. so i will skip over that backstory but for those aware of lexile scores, i had one that was too high for literally any book that was appropriate to give me. so reading in school was torture and reading for fun was excellent.
now because i was a first-ish grader and my mom was trying to keep the fifth harry potter out of my hands, she looked desperately for something else to pass to me. her friend, who had a daughter a year or two older than me, was into these cat books, and my mom was like “here honey you like cats” without thinking too much about it.
which is good, because as i’ll get into, it was a really good fit for me. but like a dozen books later she asked me about the plot and well. i think at that moment she realized that it might have been better to just let me read harry potter.
but yeah i continued to read them long past the recommended reading ages and still as a Young Adult will return to them for nostalgia, and also as i will get into, some really good books. (see a list of books for “morbidly curious but i don’t want to spend 56 to 168 hours reading this”)
i’m not fully caught up on the series but this is not a plot summary so that should not impact my ability to discuss this
section two: content warnings
these books (not this post) includes the following:
discussion of castration (1.1 series 1, book 1, i’m not including this on every item/discussion because this is a complicated series but i want to demo how up front some of this is)
teenage romance/sex/pregnancy (1.1ish-1.3 or 4, continues throughout the series quite a lot, comes up again in 3.4/5, 4.4-5, and a bit in 5)
death from childbirth (1.can’t remember which book, many others)
unwanted pregnancy (se super edition, or a longer one off novel, discussed in 4&5)
sex/implied, discussed, and very very very heavily hinted but never directly said/shown (1.1-3ish, se, other)
murder (constantly, 1.1, 1.4, literally every book, 3.5, i’m just listing the ones i remember off the top of my head that were particularly graphic)
disability/illness, esp. the debilitating and/or deadly nature of it (1.3-5ish, 3.1, but all of 3, 3.4ish)
dementia (1.3-5, i’ve heard in some of the later series?)
abuse (7/8 this is reported i haven’t read these books but based on what i know it’s def there)
child abandonment (1.4-5, 3.4/5, it’s also all over the place but i think those are the only major character incidents of it)
treason (1.3-5, all over the place)
the horror/tragedy of war (background, but pretty constant)
disagreeing with an integral religion/tradition (3, based on the series title, 8, and generally scattered)
the corrupting influence of power (1.4/5, possibly 7/8, others)
racism (1, 3-5, possibly others)
sexism (se, background)
patriarchal societies (se, seems to be somewhat softened based on what i’ve heard but i’m not entirely sure about this)
and more! but it starts to get stranger and this is enough to prove my point
basically everything that could go wrong does
oh yeah! child abuse also child abuse that’s a very major theme in the first series as well as during other points. and elder abuse in the first series.
okay i’ve made my point.
section three: the appeal
look. so. i think we’re kind of pastel-ify children’s literature based on movies. see, parents have to watch children’s movies with their kids, so they can’t be gritty and intense because a lot of parents will say “not for my nine year old! they can’t deal with treason!” and that seems to be bleeding into children’s literature.
but warriors is not that. it’s intense, it borders on “too gruesome for children,” and it’s from a time where kids books got to be serious and heavy and dark because they were about animals. which was great because i couldn’t find books at my reading level that weren’t too thematically difficult, so i got to read something below my reading level, but thematically too hard, so it kind of balanced out.
and then well. so. the series grows with the audience, but the books don’t grow in terms of like difficulty so new readers start deep into it and it’s a complicated thing, the fandom history is complex, but.
the appeal is that parents don’t usually read the books their kids read and so they see a book about cats and assume it’s fluff, and kids who are starved of complex content get to read hamlet-for-kids.
section four: worldbuilding/lore
oh yeah also there’s some really deep lore to explore. so there’s two bits of appeal.
i’m not doing a full world/plot summary, but i’ll explain some common elements here.
thunder/shadow/wind/riverclan: harry potter houses for cats (gryffindor, slytherin, hufflepuff, ravenclaw, except this doesn’t work for the last two but that’s fine because no one cares about them despite riverclan being pretty important in most of the books)
-kit/-paw/-star: naming conventions. everyone has a two part name. (we’ll use cinder as an example because i like the two cinders we know, even tho neither of them get to be cinderstar.) babies are -kit (cinderkit), then when they’re apprentices, which is like being a student, you know, elementary through high school, you’re paw, so cinderpaw. then you get an Official Name from ur clan leader (cinderheart). if you become clan leader, you get to be -star (cinderstar). i know i haven’t explained clan leaders bear with me. this is kind of important because i have the names burned into my memory so i cannot simply always call firestar firestar if he was firepaw at the time of the events i’m describing. it won’t be ambiguous, cinderheart/cinderpelt are a special case. if this is tricky for you it’s fine just only read the first part of the name.
clan (leader, deputy, medicine cat, elder): roles with in the clan. leaders literally have nine lives. deputies are next in line and chosen by the leader. leaders usually go through several deputies, because deputies don’t have nine lives. medicine cats are doctors. they also have an apprentice. those are all one per clan. elders are just retired cats. they’re not a special category per say, but i wanted to mention them.
warrior: adult.
warrior code: laws.
star clan: dead cats. this ties into the religion which is pretty important to the books but for the most part if you understand that dead cats get to give guidance and send their approval, you have the gist of it.
section five: so um, what the fuck
so we start with a cat named rusty who runs into the woods to join thunderclan and then his name is firepaw and we all forget that he’s named rusty except for like that one time it comes up again. bluestar is a great leader with some corrupt deputies but fireheart eventually takes care of it and becomes clan leader which is a big deal.
then a bunch of other shit happens and suddenly ashfur is possessing brackenstar and being (more) abusive to squirrelflight (who is on the outs with brackenstar anyway for lying about their kits jayfeather, hollyleaf, and lionheart because they’re actually the children of firestar’s other daughter leafpool who had them with crowfeather after she fell in love with him but he’s from windclan and she’s a medicine cat so that’s double illegal and apparently hollyleaf is alive even though she yeeted herself into a pit and died because she killed ashfur when he threatened to reveal this but couldn’t live with being the product of an illegal meeting and then it was all pointless because leafpool stopped being a medicine cat out of guilt anyway and jayfeather is just an ornery bitch about everything but especially all of this)
i’m not explaining any of that.
section six: i repeat: so um, what the fuck
so the thing about these books is they’re soap operas and dramas about cats and that means they get just as strange and chaotic as anything else in the genre. i think a lot of people like me, who read them as children, regard the series we knew as a child (usually either the first three or the first five, plus super editions) as something good and warm and comforting (despite being dark and gruesome) because they made us feel good.
they were also a breeding ground for young fandom because of all the the drama that exists and the nature of the books providing that.
section seven: super editions
the simple answer to what a super edition is has already been given (it’s a novel length one-off about a single character, and its usually either a side character - bluestar, crowfeather - or a event/perspective we don’t get to see - firestar, skyclan, greystripe - and they’re generally more mature)
my favorite super edition is bluestar’s prophecy. i read it at like 16, slinking into the children’s library with a stack of other ya fiction and a “children’s book” which dealt with unwanted pregnancy, grief, forbidden love, and more. still not sure why that’s in the children’s section.
section eight: about the drama
so there’s been a lot of fandom drama about these books. i can’t tell you about the nuances, because i am an old fan, so i watched but didn’t partake. the highlights reel that i can recall goes as follows (please note i will refer to characters by name without explanation. it’s fine. the point of this section is to convey the pettiness of this drama):
tigerstar: did he do anything wrong? (the answer is holy shit yes, this isn’t discourse, it’s okay to like a villain)
scourge: did he do anything wrong, also what color is his collar? (also yes, doesn’t matter)
was the new prophecy (2)/omen of the stars (3)/etc good? (yes, eh, no, yes, no comment, no comment)
should jaypaw or hollypaw be medicine cat apprentice (neither of them, but jaypaw’s employment opportunities are limited because he’s blind, so its gotta b him)
uhh a massive tangle around this parentage drama between squirrelflight, leafpool, brackenfur, and crowfeather, which i used as the crux of humor for how batshit the plots can get, so i’m not even going to pretend i can make it funny, but just know that it’s batshit and the correct opinion is as follows: no one is right, but squirrelflight has done the least wrong, brackenfur is an asshole to her where it’s unwarrented, and hollyleaf is an idiot
and the current drama centers around brackenstar and ashfur and is tied directly to the point above, which is why i’ve kind of given up trying to make jokes about this because this is the culmination of like 35 novels.
section nine: i feel like i need to have some conclusive point to justify writing all of this
but i don’t have one, because this was really an excuse to ramble about an old passion for like half an hour. i mean i guess i can say, like, i think younger fans are sort of embroiled in this drama they don’t really have context for, because i’m not kidding, the current drama centers around the grandchildren of our original cast.
it’s kind of hard to know why, say, mistystar matters if you don’t know that she’s the child of bluefur and oakheart and if you don’t remember the drama that surrounded that when bluestar was dying and tigerstar and leopardstar were ruling a combined shadow/riverclan.
(i really hope that’s intelligible i tried to lay the groundwork for it. basically, there’s a biracial kid in a very segregated society who becomes the leader of one of the clans. which is obviously drama, especially considering that that clan was part of a weird supremacy movement a while back.)
& you know? i really hope one of the new series gets to be like, a soft reboot. just. end the current drama and pick up again with the latest generation. a) we’re starting to run out of names, and b) i think that it’s kind of tipped over the edge of sane.
the series also used to be very low fantasy. the cat societies are reasonably close to feral cat colonies (the biggest detail is that toms don’t all have their own territory, but there’s honestly in-universe discussion of this and it’s basically a culture thing), and while star clan/religion is a real and legitimate thing, there’s also a discussion of its abuse and most of the early books don’t really use star clan/related ideas as a physical force so much as a plot device, barring, like, when a new leader gets their nine lives.
honestly, i’ll always adore these books for serving the role they did, and a lot of the series is fantastically well written. but the fandom surrounding it can be, uh, not great because 9-14 year olds don’t really have good brains to understand this.
also, i’m very sad that i can’t find the flash game that was for the great prophecy. it was not very fun, but i enjoyed playing it, so if anyone knows the url so i can search the internet archive for it, please let me know.
section ten: i’m morbidly curious but there are 56 hours of books to read, assuming a very fast reading pace, so is there something i can start with to experience this without dedicating 4 days to it?
yes, there is.
it’s called bluestar’s prophecy. it’s standalone, and i should have given you enough of a background on the lore that you don’t need to know anything else. i’ve already given away the twist in series 1 that it would spoil, so you’re all good on that front.
if you want more, or want the original experience, the first series is self contained and quite good. i’ve given the broad outlines of the plot, but trust me, there’s a lot of surprises and all sorts of things i skipped over because while i like it, it’s not exactly fandom primer material
i also enjoy firestar’s quest and skyclan’s destiny for super editions, but you’ll need to read the first series to understand FQ and FQ to understand SD, so it’s not exactly a starting point. also, SD especially deals with a very different set of themes as the other books.
also, if you were to, say, search “readwarriorcats” (no spaces) on duckduckgo, and then click on one of the first links, you know, not the official site, the one hosted on one of those free website things, you know, not wix, not wordpress, the other one, you would only find lists of the books with hyperlinks.
