GOS2 opening title analysis

AAAAA S2 CONTENT YIPEEE
so, again, this is gonna be long, rambling, and will prolly make 0 sense so stick with me here I'm feeling a lot of feelings. im gonna go thru each thing in as much depth as possible so buckle up, this is gonna be like twice the size of my poster + hillywood dissection.
OK THE WAY CROWLEY LITERALLY CRAWLED UP FROM HELL TO MEET W AZ IS LIKE :((( and like on their way out from the tunnel thing I saw like a figure with wings?? I reckon it might be Micheal (the angel not the sheen) but I'm not 100% sure. whoever it is, they're holding a box or smth?? so do with that what you will idk
Im pretty convinced we might be getting Moses stuff, cuz the shining light at the top of the hill? seems like mt siani (sianai? idk) and the fact we haven't seen that type of light before and Moses is supposesdly the only person to have a direct face-to-face interaction with god makes me think we'll be getting stuff from that era (catholic upbringing coming in handy for knowing this stuff) ALTHOUGH, there are lots of animals, and they seem to be like in pairs as well?? so maybe more Noah and the arc? which like MAYBE ALL THE FANFICS ABT THEM COMFORATING EACH OTHER ON THE ARC WILL COME TRUE??? YIPEE!!
ok everything bursting into flames is a lil random but after a while of thinking, maybe sodom and gamora? (idk how to spell that either) which like, MORE SANDALPHON?? Don't get me wrong, hate the guy, he's awful and creepy, but he's SUCH a good villain. the actor doesn't get enough props online for how well he plays him. sandalphon had like 3, maybe 4 mins of screen time in s1? and from that, he's become one of the most HATED characters in the entire fandom. That is just like, wow, well done, I hate the character you play, but that's because your acting is amazing. ANYWAYS, sodom and gamora. aziraphales gonna be having some *feelings* about that, because why would heaven hurt all those people? even if they were sinners? similar to noahs arc situation with Crowley giving the most comfort this time <3
WOOOO GOTHIC SHIT!! the pickled herring cart makes a return and it is as confusing as ever. they're in a graveyard, so that's fun times. maybe more hell? cuz that's where they met up when the antichrist got delivered. anyways, does anyone know the period this is meant to be in? it's gone out of my head. anyways, I tried looking up pickled herring carts to see if they had any significance thru history but na. like they were there, and popular, but no, no huge significance. ALSO, in the graveyard, they go past a gravestone with 'every day' written on it??? girl wtf does that mean?? the running theories I have so far are that it's either like, the death of the everyday, meaning that what they used to do (hate each other??) isnt.. happening anymore?? idk?? or that it's just Neil being edgy and emo. my bets on the latter (love u mr. gaiman <3) ALSO ALSO OH MY FUCKING GOD?? Another one of the gravestones says JANE AUSTEN ON IT!! ARE WE GETTING JANE AUSTEN CONTENT??? OMFG??? YIPPEE!! maybe we'll get to see where az gets some of his first editions from :D aslo rq, religious imagery in the background, an angel carrying a cross, more heaven looming over Az?? ALSO HOLY SHIT?? I just accidentally paused it at onde of the graves and i swear it says 'here lies *insert another couple words here* BEELZEBUB?? HUHHH?? is that gonna be the explination for beelzebubs new corparation?? but that wouldnt make any sense?? idk atp but that gravestone DEFFIENTLY SAYS BEELZEBUB

SO. HELL. WOOO!! more hell content which could go one of three ways. either we get more goofy Crowley giving more presentations, CAN I GET A WAHOO?? or we get him being given more assignments and we get more of an idea of the whole structure of hell, uncomfortableness but nothing horrendous. OR ALL THE ANGST FICS COME TRUE AND WE SEE CROLWEY GETTING BEAT INTO A PULP BY HIS SUPERIORS!!! maybe all three! can't wait to see :D but as much as my angst-craving self would love to see the last one, I think the reality is it's gonna be the first two. it looks like there's a desk and office chairs, so we'll probably be getting scenes that are like the equivalent to what we see of aziraphale and the archangels in s1
so we already knew we were getting more ww2 scenes but.. MORE WW2 SCENES WAHOO!! maybe we're getting post-church scenes? tender love confessions in the back of the Bentley? or maybe angst? maybe edosian orchids 901s (I LOVE THEM SM) fic about Crowley having a breakdown after being forced to report on the horrors of war will come true? or maybe one of them has to conscript cuz... idk dude just cuz. The bomber plane makes me think of the blitz so maybe Crowley is comforting Azi while they hide from the bombs in the shop? whatever happens, ill love it :D
a quick google told me fuck all about the ladies of camelot, just that theyre often overshadowed by the guys. WHICH LIKE WTF?? anyways, apparently its like king arthur times, so maybe we see the arrangement being born?? YIPEE. other then that, they seem to be like a dance group? so like, idk? could be suppourting acts maybe? could the merlin fandom help with this maybe? whats goin on with the ladies of Camelot my dudes.

SO MAYBE WE'LL BE GETTING SOME PRE-FALL CROWLEY?? cuz like, the only thing close to space is heaven, but that's meant to be transcendent, and by definition exists outside of space and time. SO THEREFORE, PRE-FALL CROWLEY?? PLEASE?? NEIL IM BEGGING, IM ON MY KNEES, PLEASE!!

This is more so for the future rather than it is for anything else, I don’t exactly think any of this has happened to me personally (not yet a least and hopefully not at all) but I like to cover my ground in salt so I don’t slip on ice later if you catch my drift!

A small analysis on 3 'Can't You See Me?' Characters: Giselle, Six, Mono.
TW: Mentions of alcohol abuse, hospitals/pills y etc, blood?, religion, traumas.
Small context: This is me elaborating a bit on my thought process in a few characters of my Little Nightmares AU. It is on Ao3, with 10 chapters, and you can find it in my pinned post!

I have yet to make her character sheet — But one thing about Giselle:
She doesn't have a set nationality. The thing about nationalities in CYSM is that they don't exactly interfere on the character's plots, but they help to bring in more depth to their designs through actual real-life cultures that they'd be a part of, or are inspired by, if the countries said cultures are a part of even existed in CYSM.
In a technical level, they do, but not explicitly —A Brazillian-inspired place isn't going to be called Brazil but readers would eventually find out it is basically the in-universe Brazil equivalent ig
So, with Giselle: She doensn't have a set nationality.
Giselle's nationality is a mystery because i personally thought it'd be cool if the girl who worships a alien god from somewhere from outer space, also decided to keep her roots hidden — It makes her more similar to her god and more mysterious in a way.
However, she's highly inspired by vampires and Rosaria from Genshin Impact.
Giselle is a character that's very in line with toxic religion — not a specific one in mind, but just the obsessive faith one might have that they think they're entitled to something just because they believe on a certain god, even if the decisions they make around their faith might harm the people surrounding them, even if they don't hold the same beliefs.
I tend to be as light as possible on topics as these, to be honest — I don't think a Little Nightmares fanfiction is the place to discuss real-life serious issues, though with brevity and creativity, I think Giselle's concept/idea as a character works balances things out quite well — it doesn't go too deep on said topics but it also goes far enough for the storyline to progress while sending a message across.

Okay so brace yourselves — Six is kind of a doozy.
Six is... well, she's a mix. I think she encapsulates well the aesthetic appeal of games like Silent Hill — when i think of Six, I think of something like that, believe it or not.
Blood splatters on the snow, cloudy skies on a windy day, open bottle pills — Six's personality and even her concept board(Sorry i can't show it :( Has spoilers) is very intertwined with hospital imagery. It could be because she herself feels ill, even if her own body is seemingly fine. There's a lot to Six, and obviously the themes of lost childhood are very present on her entire characterization in CYSM.
She looks like the kind of girl who'd stitch up creepy teddy bears and plush bunnies, the kind of girl who'd still play with and cherish her dolls even if she's past the age of playing with toys (perhaps once everything's normal again, she could become a collector?), and the kind of girl who enjoys cute and morbid things alike.
I think, if i had to choose a description for her — I'd probably call her a fallen angel or something along these lines. She has a unreal beauty and tragedy to her, and such a specific personality I often find myself having difficulty explaining how much thought went into her characterization with just words. She's much deeper than how I've written her so far.

Mono, or also known as Mauricio — He's brazillian! — Is an artist. He's the definition of the word; a creative young man who isn't afraid to use his talents to change the world, the boy is afraid of life, but presses fowards even if he's terrified of what the future may hold for him. I mean, after nine years of doing nothing, it was about time he'd start exploring the world around him, yes?
And as he explores, he brings messages of hope and kindness for other survivors, through his art! Mono is the kind of relaxed, laid-back artist who enjoys scribbling in his notebook while drinking something, so he can eventually bring those drawings to life by replicating them on the walls everywhere he goes, may it be cities, broken houses, forgotten towns and village or even random rocks he finds in the wilderness — The world is his canvas, his home, and he's determined to try and fix it.
So it's not a surprise, as seen though his entire personality, that Mono is the kind of artist who enjoys making critics about the world they live in — He doesn't consider himself a hero, but he feels pride in sending the messages and criticism he believes the others need to hear.

“Stop that,” she says, frowning. “Don’t lie like that to me, it’s creepy.”
“And you know all about creepy, huh?” he teases and feels the ground under his feet come a little closer. Unimportant conversation is an old comfort and he clings to the offer presented to him.
“More than you,” she returns cooly. “Now get up. You’re coming back to my place.” She begins walking around the morgue collecting her own things.
“I— What?” He stutters, all of him at once, fingers twitching and eyesight shaking. He’s still too many feet above the ground for this, it seems. “Why?”
“You’re a mess,” Shouko explains, throwing a packet of cigarettes in her work purse; she has a nicer one that she brings out shopping and to cafés, he knows, that Utahime bought for her when they first started dating. The one she has for work is heavily worn and a dull brown; she’s had it since high school and they both pretend to forget where she’d gotten it from. “I don’t trust you by yourself and I don’t think you want to worry your kids, so you’re coming home with me.”
“I’m fine, Shouko,” he tries to protest, but she shoots him a sternly unimpressed glare and walks back over to get in his face.
“No you’re fucking not, don’t even try that right now. It won’t work. Besides…” she straightens up and turns away from him, tugging her bag’s strap up her shoulder. “You’re not the only one who needs some company tonight.”
okay on top of the brainrot writing this sparked in me my favorite favorite thing to write is characters with differing goals and they have very differing goals. i like when a character has already made a decision and i like writing characters disagreeing a bit. i just loveee when i get to write different motivations and i love them i love this convo and i like writing shouko mhm
H: How would you describe your style?
uhhh thats difficult lol but like i know i lean pretty hard into being very descriptive and i like a lottt of metaphors and imagery, but my main goal is always to get my mental picture across as much as i can, so i guess thats why. i like to keep dialogue on the sparser side, though. most of the time people dont monologue, so i try not to let the characters do it and i spent a lot of time rlly figuring out how ppl naturally speak so that i could do that ljsfdhb <33

yippee more reading !!!! spoilers for lone women by victor lavalle under the cut!
ohhh my lord this book was so good. the atmosphere, the characters, the plot !!!!!!!! this is one of those stories where the setting/landscape really feels integral or like another character... if this story had taken place anywhere else, it wouldn't have been the same at all. the cold montana winds and mountains and just. flatness was perfect. the darkness. the imagery of a single light out on the plains in the dark. wonderful amazing showstopping i love her she was brutal. as for the actual characters, i loved all the characters the audience was supposed to love, and hated all the characters the audience was supposed to hate oml the reeds. fuck them jfc like the very quiet subtlety of mrs. reed at first like how. above it all she seemed from the jump even as she was positioned as a community focused figure in the beginning... there's always something off with extremely small town rich white women... and sam.... and elizabeth... and adelaide and birdy and fiona and grace and ough...... theres so much more i have to say but i cant keep my thoughts in a straight line about it so ill try to be coherent but. no promises. anyways i totally loved the ending as well... at first i thought it was going in a kind of lindwrym direction through the power of sisterly and familial love but. honestly i think i like it better that elizabeth just stayed as a dragon and entertained the kids in the new town like thats so fucking awesome i love that. imagine your sister being a dragon its fucking awesome. and i'm glad that adelaide learned to love her sister as she is through all of these other women who are also seen as outcasts and queer folk. grace who murdered her husband and has a imo adhd coded trans son (also thought it was funny and very very relevant and fitting that the conservative rich lady was pretty chill with murder and not with letting her child be happy. like yeah man thats it right there) birdy who was one of two black people in town, one of one living black person, before adelaide arrived, and was dating a young chinese woman. all outcasts, all with their own burdens, and adelaide found them through her sister and her stuggles, and herself and her need for connection. going back to the landscape, one of my fav scenes was when adelaide and fiona were traveling through glendale (if that's what it's called icr and i havent seen it spelled lol) and how eerie and creepy that was, how it was never really explained, and how ig shit like that just happens in montana. like yeah ill believe that. also probably part of the reason why everyone was so ready to believe that theres a flying monster out on the plains killing people. also supported by the fact that allegedly a black woman summoned it. but either way i had a really good time listening to the audiobook, the narrator did a fantastic job and i ate that shit up. 5/5 creepy as fuck and i liked it

and theres been so much on divines where to begin.
rigor is sooooo cool & creepy & fascinating. that cold open on ep 15 - the recounting of rigor taking control (of people, of the entire society?) & assigning tasks & giving orders. the fact that they were rendering the population unable to disobey. rigor being like a personification of the ruthless grinding cog of capitalism & the demands it makes of people - to work endlessly without pause or disobedience, to think only of & for your duties as related to a job to which you are assigned by someone/something with power over you.
and then peace. which like 1) the then-leader (so to speak) of the divines/the diaspora & their combined military might being named peace is sooooo. and 2) peace then becoming order after the war more or less ended is also sooo much. but also makes me wonder how exactly the whole aspect of divines embodying/representing an ideal really works - i lean more towards it being a cultural/societal thing, a role they are sort of brought/molded into, but then on the other hand there are also still machines so is it code & algorithm that determines their natures (& maybe there isnt much distinction between being raised to be something & to be coded for the same, especially if the divines are sentient enough to decide for themselves regardless)?. mostly im wondering if peace becoming order was a reflection of the people - did they believe with the war ending that they needed something else to strive towards - or if it was them who made that decision on their own.
i like how even in (seeming?) death the divines are still objects of worship. how could they not be ig, when theyre massive towering inhuman beings of immense power. the imagery of order towering above a city, their head breaking through the roof of the dome, even kneeling down, and in a pose akin to prayer.

A Black Girls Lit Book Review:
Hide and Seeker by Daka Hermon
Since today is Friday the 13th and I’m not quite ready to let go off spooky season just yet, I’m sharing my thoughts on this haunting middle-grade read that I enjoyed last month!
Synopsis: “Justin knows that something is wrong with his best friend. Zee went missing for a year. And when he came back, he was . . . different. Nobody knows what happened to him. At Zee's welcome home party, Justin and the neighborhood crew play Hide and Seek. But it goes wrong. Very wrong. One by one, everyone who plays the game disappears, pulled into a world of nightmares come to life. Justin and his friends realize this horrible place is where Zee had been trapped. All they can do now is hide from the Seeker.”
I’m not sure how this book got on my radar or how I first heard about it, I think I saw the awesome cover somewhere and knew I needed to see what it was about, but I’m so glad I decided to read this! I don’t read much middle-grade but this was a creepy surprise for me! The story sucked me in from the start with it’s somber tone and ominous setting; right away I knew something was strange and wanted to figure what was going on. The author does a great job of creating gloomy imagery while also making you feel connected to Justin because you get to learn about his motivations and why he is so determined to stop the Seeker’s plan, escape his world, and save his friends.
I wasn’t expecting this to be scary but I was definitely freaked out from time to time while reading this and it reminded me so much of my Goosebumps days as a kid! From the terrifying voice of the Seeker, being stuck in Nowhere, and watching all the kids literally have to fight their fears, I shivered and flinched my way through each chapter, apprehensive but also eager to see what frightening things would happen next.
Even though it’s a horror story, the book also touches on the topic of mental illness as the main character struggles to deal with life, and the looming unpaid bills that keep piling up, after the recent death of his mother.
If you’re looking for a scary read to keep you in the spooky mood or one to add to your Halloween tbr for next year, I recommend Hide and Seeker because I know for sure that no one’s game of hide and seek has ever turned out like this one! And if you enjoy Stranger Things or IT, you are sure to like this one too!
