meet me in the gardens
knight!natasha romanoff x noble!fem!reader
summary: being the widow of a decently wealthy lord and sitting on a large plot of land automatically meant that you were a candidate for the program that you couldn’t say not to; the hosting. you had to sponsor a knight and keep them in your home for an entire year, which was troublesome enough on its own. but you never expected your knight to be a woman, and you certainly didn’t expect to have a full on illegal love affair with her, either.
warnings: ppl are upset, shit gets ruined, swearing? the “l” word
word count: 3.5k
what is this, like the sixth part? this was definitely supposed to be a miniseries lmao- all the other parts are on my pinned post!
Tumblr media
The nights passed the same, but the days were entirely different. Days kept flying by, and with every single cycle of the sun, you were forced more and more by tradition to prepare your home for your future husband. It had been days since you and Natasha confessed your feelings for each other and kissed under the starlight, and still, the feeling of her arms around you and her face in your hands still ran around in your mind, pushing thoughts of your duties out of your mind without any effort. And it was for that reason, against your judgement, that you still met with Natasha Romanoff every night.
It felt like ever since the honesty started flowing, you began to feel lighter. With every glance at Natasha that became less and less stolen, your soul felt like it could deviate more and more by the second. Your mind knew what was going on, the high before the impending fall, and you knew for a fact that when you hit the ground, you were going to shatter. But you couldn't find your mind wanting to acknowledge how fragile you were becoming for love. And how could you? How could you mind the chilling fall and the results of it when Natasha cradled you so gently, just like stained glass?
Wanda was the sane one. She was the one who kept trying to bring you back down from the tops of your clouds, attempting to be the gentle reminder before reality itself slammed right into you and took your breath away in the worst of ways. She was the gentle hand of a mother that tried to shake her child out of  a nightmare disguised as a dream, and you were the insolent child who ignored her.
Pietro, on the other hand, encouraged it. He was all for splurging, and that went for everything. He was a borderline glutton and when he had money, it was gone within weeks, and he was an advocate for the way that you were divulging in your own little heaven. He would smile when he saw you off in your own head, reminiscing on a memory so sweet you could have sworn it was some sort of dream. He would tell Wanda in hushed whispers to leave you alone, and that you deserved to be happy, even if it was only for a little bit.
“But she doesn’t deserve to have it ripped away from her,” Wanda said to him on a day where the sun managed to pierce through the coverage of the clouds, and he just shook  his head at her, looking at her with slight pity. “It’s my duty as her friend to remind her.”
“She’s a smart girl, don’t you think she knows?” Pietro retorted, eyeing you as you picked a magnolia from your garden, standing  by yourself but still smiling. “Besides, do you really think that her lady love is going to let anything happen to her?”
Wanda gasped and looked around them, on alert for anyone who could have possibly heard what her brother had said. Her eyes were wild as she watched for anyone who may have heard the scandalous words, and when she saw that everyone was minding their business, she swirled her head back to glare at Pietro.  “What?”
Pietro grinned, and then his grin turned into a sneaky smirk. “What, you didn't know?” When Wanda hesitated to answer, he chuckled. ‘There’s no way you didn’t know.”
“Pietro, you can’t just say things like that,” she scolded, heart still racing at the thought of someone knowing.
“You and I are the only ones who know her well enough to know that she’s in love, and there’s no way that you haven’t seen the way that the knight is around her.”
Wanda had. She had a great read on people, always seeming to know everyone’s thoughts before they even knew it themselves. She knew the second that Natasha Romanoff started to change, and she would never forget the time where she realized that it was because of her very own dear friend.
It happened on a particularly cool day, and Wanda had dressed you in a short and flowy dress before realizing that there was a breeze outside. You had walked down to the training areas, even though you said that you were just aimlessly walking, and you kept glancing over your shoulder to watch the red head spar with a man twice her size and hold more than her own. You had looked away the second that Wanda looked at you for a moment too long, with her eyes that were always seeking answers. The first pang of realization hit Wanda that day when she saw you stand up straight and tall when Natasha started to saunter towards the both of you. The second time that she saw it was when Natasha got an eyeful of you, too, and then her flawless steps faltered for the quickest of moments. Natasha never faltered.
“It doesn’t matter what we know,” Wanda muttered lowly, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear in an attempt to look like they were having a normal conversation. “We can’t just go around saying that our lady-”
“Likes women?” He asked, and Wanda immediately started throwing curses his way. “No one ever sees past their own problems here. I can assure you, no one cares if Lady Mirellis likes lying with women.”
“No, but Brock Rumlow will care,” Wanda pointed out. “And he has the ability to make her life miserable. So please, watch your mouth. Or at least care for how loud you run it.”
“They were meant to meet,” Pietro said, his words nearly running into Wanda’s. “They were meant to meet, that much is obvious. I knew it from the second that I saw them look at each other when the redhead stepped out of the carriage.” Wanda looked at him with shock in her eyes as she watched his face flood with smugness, the sort of effortless smile that made people smile back. “What, you didn’t see that coming?” He shook his head and ruffled his sister’s hair, ignoring the angered sounds she made.
“And you say that you’re the observant twin?”
§§
The stream became your hiding place. It was the place that you and Natasha went when it all became too much for you or when she wanted to celebrate getting another step closer to finding herself. You went on good days and bad ones, but at the end of it, you felt at peace. You both ended up forgetting why you went in the first place.
Your toes were in the water, brushing up against a rock every few seconds as the red head practiced wielding her sword absentmindedly behind you, still looking graceful and as smooth as water while she did it. “What’s going to happen when you finish?”
  “When I finish what?”
“When you finish your knightly duties, you know, the reason why you came in the first place?” You asked, turning your head to look at her. She had her arm straight out, sword elongating it and was mid-lunge, but her eyes were on you and her forehead had gathered wrinkles. “What’s going to happen?”
She dropped her arm abruptly and frowned. You heard her inhale over the sound of rushing water. “Well, I suppose I have to ride back to the capital.”  You knew that. “I’ll be officially knighted there.”
  “Are you excited?”
“It’s still a few months away,” Natasha said, and you knew that the statement was more for you than it was for her. “But when the time comes, I’ll be excited.”
You knew she would be. She rose up from nothing to possibly being a woman knighted by the king, something that had never happened before. She was proud of herself, and you were proud of her. She was the perfect knight, honorable and strong, and everything that a person with that title should be. You sat there with your lips shut, hand in hers like it was meant to be that way, and your mind moving at a speed legs couldn’t even hope for.
“Whatever you’re worrying about, darling,” Natasha said, the hand that wasn’t intertwined with you reaching up and brushing against your jaw, fingers caressing your face as she turned your head gently to face her. “Don’t.”
“If only it were that easy.”
“It could be,” she retorted, and her pointer finger brushed over your top lip. “Just stop thinking about it.”
You pursed your lips at her, shaking your head. “You truly do have a man’s brain.”
“Are you going to be able to do it?” She asked out of nowhere, and you stopped tracing her eyebrows with your finger to give her a confused look. “I guess the real question is- are you really going to do it?”
You sighed, your heart already slowly breaking. “Yes.” You said, lacking hesitancy that you felt deeply in your heart. “It won’t matter that I’ll be married to him. I swear it.”
“I believe you.”
“Nothing has to change. We’ll sneak around like we always do, we’ll be fine.”
“Hey,” Natasha said, grabbing your hands as they started to shake. Your eyes were gathering tears with every word that passed through your lips, and she made you focus on her. “I believe you.”
The rest of the night was spent as all the other nights were spent. Silence other than the sounds of nature and each other’s soft breathing. The customary breeze that came and went brushing against your bare legs and Natasha’s clothed ones. Soft touches that ranged from hands to foreheads to each other’s backs. It was so intimate, and you were so alone with her that it truly felt like you two were the only people on the planet. You never felt safer. Seeing Natasha wield a sword or wear her armor had nothing on the security that you felt when she just had you close, where there was nothing but a sliver of air between your two bodies. It was in moments like those, when she held you in her arms and kissed your temple, where you truly felt invincible.
§§
With every passing day, you fell more and more in love with Natasha Romanoff. That much was a given, and you knew that the first night at the stream was going to change your life for forever, but you never expected it to be that hard. And by it, you meant, getting married to someone you would hate just so that you could keep the woman that you loved safe.
And it felt so good to finally use that word, even if it was only in the comforts of your own mind. You loved her. You loved her like you had never loved anyone else, and you had to tell her one day. Your heart sunk to your toes when you realized that the confession would have to be in an empty forest or in your gardens or somewhere else just a s secretive, and that no one would ever find out truly how devoted you were to her. You were never going to be able to tell the world that you loved her, and that was for more reasons than one.
You were going to marry Brock Rumlow the day after he arrived. And that day was hardly even approaching anymore, it was on your doorstep. It was so close, in fact, that you were standing in your wedding gown and crying as you tried it on one last time before the fateful day.
One second, Wanda was doing your corset and fixing the collar on the traditional wedding dress and the next- she was watching you lose your mind. “I really- I can’t do it.” You had a hand over your mouth as you looked up towards the ceiling. You collapsed to the floor despite your chest struggling to expand and catch a breath while the corset constricted. Your hands covered your face as you allowed yourself to have a good cry for the first time in what felt like years.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Wanda breathed out, and you could feel the heartbreak in her just like it was in you. “I know. I know, just cry it all out.”
Your head was spinning. You had no idea what terrible choices you had made for life to bring you to the spot that you were soon to arrive at and be stuck in forever. You had no idea what you had done to the world to make the universe want to make your life miserable. “I can’t do it.”
“If you’re afraid that he’ll hurt you…”  Wanda started off, a slight tremble in her voice as she tried to gather her own bearings and be strong for you, “Pietro and I won’t let it happen. Pietro is strong, and I’m fierce when it comes to the two of you, you know that. Nothing will ever happen to you while we’re here.”
“I can’t marry him,” you sobbed, and it felt like you were being crushed into a hug by the corset. “I can’t.”
“I will be with you every step of the way, just like I was before, darling.”
“No!” You wailed, and you felt Wanda startle a bit. You were going in circles in your own mind, s fast that you couldn’t even stop your lips from moving if you had tried. “I can’t- I cannot marry him because my heart is fully in the possession of another.” You admitted lowly, so quietly that Wanda hardly even heard it. “I can’t.”
Wanda waited a few moments before speaking again. “It’s Natasha isn’t it?”
You stiffened up immediately, almost forgetting that quickly that you had shared the only secret that you ever kept from Wanda. Natasha. “What?”
“Pietro and I have known you for what feels like centuries,” Wanda said rubbing a smooth hand up and down your back. “Did you really think that we hadn’t caught on?”
You looked up at her, panic manifesting in your eyes. “Who else knows?” If you were in a rational state of mind, you would have known that Wanda and Pietro would never run their mouths, especially not about something that meant life or death. And you being with someone- a woman at that- before your betrothed came? That meant certain death for the both of you. ‘W-Wanda-”
“No one knows,” she said soothingly, a promise deep rooted in her tone. “Just the two of us. You hid it surprisingly well, but you can’t hide from your family.”
And they were family. The only ones you considered to be family, actually. “So now you know why.” Wanda nodded, and then the two of you sat on your wooden floor in silence, but it felt awfully loud with the thoughts running through you.
It felt like ages had passed by the time Wanda’s voice flooded your senses again, the despair in it hardly hidden. “What are you going to do?”
“Try to keep us both alive.”
§§
Your eyes were shut as you laid on your back and tried to will the tears away. Natasha was next to you, and you were supposed to be stargazing during your last night of freedom. You had been keeping it together, but the second Natasha heard a sniffle, she shook her head and leaned up on her arm.
“You are not going to mope on our last- you know what? You’re just not going to mope tonight. Stand up.” Before you could even tell her that you didn’t want to she was yanking you up with one hand. You stumbled forward and into her arms, unable to stop yourself from giggling a bit before she steadied you.
The moonlight was your friend as it lit her face, and like you always did, you momentarily lost your breath while the two of you locked eyes, yours clashing with her blue ones and creating a tension that you were so familiar with, the kind that everyone craved. “If there was no rush, nothing threatening to tear us apart, would you agree to marry me right now?”
 You blinked. “What?”
“In another life,” Natasha said, and you nodded with hesitant encouragement. “If this was another life and I was someone in a position to get down on one knee and marry you, would you tell me yes?” You stood there tongue tied, holding both of her hands as she stared at you head on. “If I were a man, a wealthy man who loved you for you, just like I do now, would you tell me yes? Would you agree to marry me if there were no obstacles?”
Once you understood the depth of her question, the answer that had been stirring within finally came to light, and then it was leaving your lips in a surprised exhalation. “Yes.”
“Good,” Natasha said, the apprehension melting off of her face. She took a step back, but still held your hands tightly. “I’ll make it a point to find you in the next life, then.”
The next life. An unknown. Something that had so many variables, so many different meanings and outcomes. She was so optimistic, for someone who had seen so much hurt and suffering. But you were a realist, you had to be after everything that happened to you. And you knew deep down, no matter how much you willed for there to be one, that there was no second chance at a next life for you. And there wasn’t one for her, either. You didn’t have the next life. You didn’t even have the one you lived in. But you had a single night.
“I would marry you tonight,” you said softly, and when you heard her breathing hitch, you turned your head to look at her, watching the slightest of flushes appear on her cheeks, like she was surprised that you would have even said the words that you did. “Even with everything going on right now, I would marry you. I would marry you with or without the people who hate us for loving who we do, and with or without Brock Rumlow coming in the morning. If I could, I would marry you. If you’d have me, of course.”
“Of course I would,” she said, relief lacing in her voice as she touched your face, and one of your tears hit her pointer finger. “And it’s too late now, I’m afraid, but, I love you,” she said, and just like that, all of your worry and frustration and fear had melted away, like you were in some stupid fairy tale that queens tell their daughters at night. “Is that enough?”
No. It wasn’t. Not when it came to her. You wanted to give your all to her and you wanted it back from her. But as quick as you realized that you wanted it all, you realized that you would never get it. So, the little confessions and hugs and caresses in the dark were going to have to be enough. You would make them enough. “It’s enough,” you said, because wanting was enough. Being with her in the night and desiring for her during the day was enough. “It’s enough.”
§§
You expected a more calm entrance from Lord Rumlow, but then again, you didn’t know him. But the second all of his horses and men came barreling down the road, you felt like you knew him quite enough.
You knew all men like him at first glance.
Wanda was on your left, and Pietro on your right as you stood in a pretty, floral dress that Wanda picked out for you. It was silent when she dressed you, but all the words were there. She did your hair the way that you usually did it, said you looked beautiful, and then the next thing you knew, you were standing and watching carriages arrive.
 Natasha wasn’t there.
You honestly didn’t know if it was worse or better for you.
When the fanfare was finally over and the door to the grandest chariot of them all opened, you held your breath. And then, before you could even stop yourself, you thought, I’m about to see what a true monster looks like.
He was a big man. Muscular, sturdy looking, and intimidating. You immediately understood why he came off as so hostile in the letters, and it was because he was so scary looking that he could get away with nearly anything. You tilted your head upwards in defiance, meeting his eyes even though he cocked a brow at you, easily recognizing you as his betrothed, and as a woman who was directly challenging him.
He took a few steps closer, but like he knew of your extreme aversion to him and the way that you had two people beside you that would defend you fiercely, he stopped at a far enough distance. His expensive shoes dug up your grass, and you would have flinched if it weren’t for his steely, self assured voice coming your way.  “You must be my wife.”
You couldn’t even scoff. “Not yet.”
“But tomorrow is coming,” he said, looking around the estate, clearly pleased with the way it looked. He nodded his head once, twice, and then three times, before his gaze settled on you again, and he looked you up and down. “Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Oh shxt I forgot!! (ft Vegeta&Bulma)
"So what do you think, sir?"
Vegeta gave a small smile and a nod. "It's perfect." He took one more glance at it before covering it up. Vegeta had been planning this for a while. He wanted this to be the best no threatening surprise she'd have that year.
After he's quick check up on his surprise he headed home. When he entered he was greeted by silence, so he assumed all the lazy bums he loved were still asleep. Not that it really mattered. It was 5am anyway. He crept into the room him and Bulma shared and couldn't help but smile when he saw her peacefully resting with drool running down her chin and messy hair and all. How could he love so many perfect imperfections.
Although Bulma wasn't much of an early bird, he did know that sleep was important to the woman so he decided to let her be.
"Hmm, she's been working hard yesterday on her projects and improving the gravity chamber.",Vegeta thought. "Just as well."
Vegeta moved her hair away then kissed her forehead before going down to the kitchen. He tried making her breakfast but ended up with a messy kitchen and broken eggs. Now he had to remind Bulma to buy eggs again. He was sure he made such a noise that he woke the whole neighborhood.
Trunks walked into the room and gave his father puzzled a look.
"Dad..?"
"Don't!",Vegeta exclaimed. Trunks raised his hands up slowly and backed away. Not wanting to be there during his father's frustration.
"Wait boy.",he said. Trunks immediately stopped. "Yes dad?"
"Clean this place up before you mother sees.",Vegeta ordered as he turned to leave. "I'll owe you one."
"Too late." The two jumped at the sudden voice. Vegeta slowly turned towards his wife.
"What the hell happened here?",Bulma questioned as her eyes scanned her ruined kitchen.
"Uh, you see. I was just trying to make you breakfast.",Vegeta explained, a bit embarrassed at his predicament. Bulma looked shocked, her eyes widened. "Really? That's so unlike you." She crossed her arms and raised her brow. "What are you up to? What's the occasion?"
Vegeta furrowed his eyebrows. "You would know. It's a special day today."
Bulma looked like she was even more confused. "What are you talking about?"
"You really don't remember do you?",Vegeta's expression contorted to slight anger. "I can't believe you. After I actually made an effort this time."
"Vegeta." Bulma carefully approached him and attempted to rest her hand on his shoulder. He immediately shrugged her off.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine!",he yelled and stomped out.
"What's he so mad about? He's the one that wrecked my kitchen."
Trunks held his chin and thought. He knew there was something special about today.
"Isn't today your anniversary thing?"
Bulma gasped as she realised. How could she forget? And how did Vegeta remember?
"Oh shxt I forgot!!",she muttered then quickly cupped her hands over her mouth as soon as she remembered that Trunks was in the room.
"Don't worry mom. I've heard that word before.",he assured her.
"What!?"
"Nothing.",Trunks quickly walked out of the room. "I think I hear Bulla crying. I better check on her."
Bulma groaned. "Oh, how could I forget our anniversary? I always bug Vegeta about it."
~
"You forgot your anniversary!?" Chi Chi stared at Bulma with shock. "It's not like you." But what shocked her more was the fact that Vegeta even tried cooking.
"Yeah, I was so busy with my current machines that I forgot completely."
Goku walked into the room, he actually heard enough of their conversation to know what was going on.
"Why don't you just say you were pretending to forget to surprise him?" The two woman stared at Goku like he was crazy.
"That's not a bad idea, Goku."
"Yeah. I've used that a bunch of ti–"he stopped as soon as Chi Chi sent him a glare. "I guess I'm just full of good ideas."
"Anyway gotta go. Bye Chi Chi, Bulma.",Goku said as he rushed out of the house.
"Grrr. Goku!" Chi Chi groaned then turned to her blue haired friend. Bulma got up excitedly, hitting her fist into her palm as a plan formed in her genius head.
"I got it!"
"You're seriously gonna do it?"
"Well maybe...but I'm thinking of getting him a large buffet of food. You know how these Saiyans love to eat."
"I guess. But just hope it's better than Vegeta's gift so he won't be too mad."
"I always give the best gifts."
~
"Hey Vegeta." Goku said as he descended next to the Saiyan prince.
"What do you want Kakarot?"
"Happy anniversary." He opened his arms attempting to hug Vegeta but he ended up with a hand on the face pushing him back onto the ground.
"Doesn't feel happy.",he grumbled. "How could she forget. After all my planning."
"Wow. What did you plan?"
"None of your business!"
Goku gave him a sheepish smile as he crossed his legs and scratched the back of his head. They sat in silence for a while as Goku looked up at the sky.
"Well anyway. I say you should still go ahead with it. I mean think of all the times she did amazing things for you. I bet she'd really appreciate this."
Vegeta just grunted. Goku took that as a bit of a sign and got up to leave.
"Well that's all I wanted to say. I better get going. I promised Piccolo I'd train with him."
And with that Goku took off. Vegeta thought for a moment about what he said.
"Not a bad idea."
~
The sun just started setting and Vegeta waited outside in his maroon suit that he didn't really like wearing but it was a special day and it did make him look good.
He had told Goku to bring her around and was getting impatient. What was taking so long?
~
"Goku. I have to get everything ready."
Goku tilted his head. "What exactly are you doing? Planning a party?",he said as he watched people take food and party supplies out of a bunch of vans. "Because you know Vegeta's not a huge fan of those." He chuckled.
Bulma hung her head. "Ugh, I know. I've been so stressed that I'm not even thinking clearly."
"How bout you just bring the food in and come with me?"
"Fine." Bulma told the workers to put everything back except the food. Once that was done, Goku scooped her up and took her where he agreed to meet Vegeta.
~
The sun had set and finally the two have arrived.
"About time.",Vegeta mumbled.
Goku let Bulma down and took off, leaving the two.
"Vegeta look I–"
She was cut off when Vegeta placed his finger on her lips then lifted up her chin. This was the first time she actually saw him properly or her surroundings.
"Nice suit.",she said. Looking around with awe she couldn't help the feelings of excitement and love clearly showing in her body language.
She was in her garden which was beautifully decorated. The lights placed around the flowers lit it up beautifully, even making the pond sparkle. There were fireflies bringing another mix of light into the jars they were jailed in. It reminded Bulma of when she'd go camping with her sister and father.
"Wow." Without saying another word, or any word since she got there, he took her hand and led her to the gazebo in the middle of the garden.
There was some of Bulma's favourite foods and a large bottle of her favourite champagne in a silver bucket of ice.
What drew her attention was the object concealed under a white tarp.
"Vegeta–"
"Before you say anything.",he walked up to the objects. "I know I shouldn't have gotten angry this morning and that you've been stressed out lately. I'm sorry."
"It's fine Vegeta."
He took hold of the tarp. "I also hate doing this sappy stuff so..." He dramatically pulled it off. "Happy anniversary, my love."
Bulma was left speechless. She got closer and Vegeta watched with a smile on her face.
"What do you think?",he asked but he knew she loved it.
"I had it done by that artist you love so much."
In front of Bulma was a beautiful painting of her and Vegeta on their wedding day.
She trapped Vegeta in an embrace and he wrapped his arms around her waist as he pulled her closer.
"I love you."
"Love you too.",he mumbled.
He pulled out of the hug and pulled out a chair for her in the gazebo.
He looked at the amount of food he had prepared for tonight and frowned.
"There's no way this is satisfying me. Damn, now I'm starving for the woman",he thought. He's hunger must've shown on his face because Bulma gave him a knowing look and winked.
"Oh I got that covered." She took her phone out and dialled a number.
"Bring it in guys."
In a matter of seconds people were bringing so much food that there wasn't any space on the table.
Soon Vegeta was stuffing his face.
"Have I told you lately how much I love you?",he said in between chews.
Bulma giggled then looked over at her paintings.
"Yeah, you even showed me."

Soooo :D after you all requested it (about 3 ppl did - but just let me exaggerate in peace) here is part 3 of Isak and Even doing trust excercises <3  it starts up right where part 2 ended so if you want to read those first: Part 1 / Part 2
When they stepped back from each other Isak looked over to Magnus and Vilde. Vilde had a frown on her face that changed into a too bright smile when she caught his gaze. Magnus looked a bit deflated when he saw how close Isak and Even had been. The other two had stopped close in front of each other when both decided this was as close as was comfortable, but there was still a hand length between their bodies.
They had been pretty happy with themselves (especially when most of the other couples had stopped a meter or further away from each other) until their eyes landed on Isak and Even. Who were obviously trying to morph into each other to be closer, toes stacked, noses pressed against each other, touching from chests to knees.
Even shot Mags an encouraging smile as the woman – maybe Lille? – announced the next test.
“Everyone, take one of these scarfs,” she said as she went around and handed each couple one of the colorful fabrics.
“I want the light blue one,” Even stage whispered to Isak who rolled his eyes with pure fondness. “You’re a child, Even.” But nevertheless he hurried over to where the women was and plucked the light blue one from her arm (this got him a rewarding cheek kiss).
“Blindfold your partner and take your place behind them,” came the instruction. Even raised his brows at Isak and grinned.
“So, nothing new there,” he said as he turned his back to Isak who snorted at his words.
Magnus gave a high pitched “What?” at that which got ignored by the other three.
The next exercise was to guide your partner just with your voice through an obstacle course that the woman – Laura? God, he knew it had been something with L – placed on the ground in front of them.
While the woman talked on about how important it was to completely trust your partner for this Isak rested his hands on Even’s hips and his chin on Even’s shoulder. Even leaned into him a bit and tugged on one of Isak’s hands. He understood the gesture and wrapped his arms around Even’s middle. When it was time to start Isak placed a quick kiss to the shoulder his chin had been resting on and untangled his arms from around him.
“Ok, go one step forward. For the record, we are talking about normal human-sized steps.” Even laughed and took a relatively moderate step forward.
“Don’t do any of your long spider steps.” This got Isak an offended scoff.
“Spider legs? Really, babe? I call you adorable animal names all the time and I get spider?” Even shook his head which made the blue tail of the blindfold bounce. Isak grinned.
“Lift your leg a bit - I’m sorry I forgot for a second that spiders are a delicate subject when it comes to you (*) – forward and then to your right.” Even grinned. Isak could only see the back of his swoopy blonde head but he just knew that he grinned.
“And anyway – now crouch down a bit, yeah like that, and now one step to your left and forward – you call me monkey. What is adorable about monkeys. They smell,” Isak continued. Guiding Even through that little ‘parcour’ was more than easy and didn’t stop them from keeping up their banter.
“What! I call you baby monkey which is the most adorable nickname anyone has ever come up with.” Isak’s grin at his boyfriend’s dramatics got bigger as he asked “Are you saying you are the master of nicknames?”
Even laughed and he saw the back of his head nod. “I’m saying that.”
Isak only let out an amused “Hmm” before Even continued with “I won’t argue the smelling part, because…” Even let his voice trail off and Isak laughed (loudly, which had Vilde startle next to him and send him a scolding look).
“Fuck you, Even. I kinda want to make you trip now,” he teased, the smile clearly audible in his voice.
“But you won’t,” Even replied. It wasn’t a question and was said with a warm certainty which made Isak want to cross the distance and get his arms back around his boy.
“Nei. I won’t.” He agreed.
Then it was Isak’s turn to be blindfolded and guided. in the process of getting the scarf over his eyes Even kept giving him cheek kisses and nuzzled his nose into his jaw. But it was ok because even though they kept talking and Even was taking his sweet time getting Isak ready for his round they were still faster than the others. -- Vilde had cast Isak an annoyed look after they discussed the nicknames and told him “I call Magnus lion! Because of his huge-“ which was thankfully interrupted by Magnus crashing over one of the obstacles in front of him, since his guide had not been paying attention to him.
“Now, trust is important in a relationship, but for it to be healthy you also need communication.” The woman was collecting the blindfolds again as she began the new instructions.
The women all made wiping gestures that Isak assumed were meant to make sure their makeup was intact. He himself blinked a few times, the room bright after having his eyes closed for a while.
“Communication doesn’t just happen verbally, but also silent.” Isak scrunched his face up at that and threw a huh look at Even, who nodded as if he totally agreed and Isak should listen. Tsss, smartass.
“So, all of you sit down in front of your partner. Don’t touch, don’t talk, but sit as close as you’d like. And then you look each other in your eyes. You will do this for two minutes,” she said and gestured to a clock that hung over the door of the living room they were in.
There was commotion as everyone took their seat. Isak and Even sat in front of each other, legs crossed. This time it was Isak who raised his brows which was answered by a teasing smile on Even’s full lips. Isak’s gaze dropped down.
“Hey, eyes up here,” Even said with a shake of his head, pointing to his eyes and Isak let out a “pfff” with a roll of his eyes. They grinned at each other again.
“Everyone ready? Good. While you look each other in the eyes, try to communicate to your partner what they mean to you. Communicate with your eyes.” The exercise (if you can call sitting on the floor and doing nothing an exercise) started and silence stretched through the room.
At first they both kept their teasing looks and smiles on their faces, both making fun of the idea to communicating through their eyes. But after a few moments something shifted. Communicate to your partner what they mean to you. Isak looked at Even’s clear sparkly blue eyes and something in him melted. What Even meant to him? He meant the world. All his dorky little quirks, the embarrassing songs he serenaded Isak with, the old and cheesy movies he made Isak watch and about which he could hold a passionate speech for hours, all the times Isak had woken up from a bad dream or couldn’t fall asleep and Even had been there. Had held his hand and stroked his back and combed those lovely fingers through his hair. All the post-it notes he found everywhere in his school books with little drawings on them of the two of them or Isak with Jonas or Isak with Sana or Isak with Even’s parents. All the times Even had made him feel like he was the most precious and perfect person to walk the earth. All of it, all of Even meant the world.
Isak saw how Even’s eyes grew soft and loving and he felt a million sparks go off in his stomach. His head felt fuzzy with the idea that Even was thinking the same stuff about him right now. That Even loved him just as much as he did him. Isak placed his hands that were laying on his knees on the ground beside him and pushed himself forward, closer to Even.
Their knees knocked gently against each other and Even’s eyes got smaller when his mouth widened into a fond smile. His teeth showing which normally made Isak’s eyes zip down to the lips of his boy, but right now their stare was too intense to break. Even leaned forward unconsciously which brought them even closer.
The proximity was so small that Isak felt himself go a bit cross eyed, but he didn’t want to lean back. It was all he could do not to climb into Even’s lab and wrap his arms and legs around him. He knew Even would chuckle warmly at him and bring his own arms around his back. He’d whisper “See, you’re my baby monkey” with his deep voice, only meant to be heard by Isak, and...
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR they both jumped when the alarm of Lisle-or-what-ever went off.
“Woah,” Isak let out, sounding as breathless as he felt. He heard Even breath out a laugh as he closed the distance between them by leaning forward, giving Isak a gentle kiss.
“Yeah,” Even agreed and he sounded just as breathless as Isak.
“That was awkward, huh?” Magnus said loudly beside them, gaining him a relieved chuckle from the rest of the room. Isak and Even both smiled in his direction but after that exchanged a look. That wasn’t awkward. That was intense.
“Good. Everyone stay seated. Now that you told your partner non-verbally what you think of them, it’s time to use words!”
Even made a small gasp as if he had been waiting for that forever and Isak could just barely cover up his laugh with a cough. Slapping his back Even looked more than satisfied of himself for making him laugh. Isak couldn’t help but adore this idiot.
“Tell your partner three things you love about them. Three characteristics that made you fall for them or made you love them even more.” The woman rolled up and down on her feet as she said this, clearly the most excited about all of this from the entire room.
“I can’t name just three things.” Even complained, putting both his hands on each of Isak’s knees. Isak rolled his eyes.
“It’s not your cheesiness, that’s for sure.”
Even leaned back and put one of his hands on his chest, offended. “Excuse me, you told me I am the man of your life and I’m the cheesy one?”
“That was more than half a year ago.” Isak protested and went to grab the hand on Even’s chest, placing it back on his knee, leaving his own over it.
“Oh, so that has changed?” Even asked, brows high. Isak shrugged, pursing his lips to keep from smiling. “Maybe.”
“Is it too late to switch partners?” Even asked and pretended to look around the room. Isak giggled and tugged on the hand he still held. “Nei. You are the best thing in my life, Evi.”
Even looked back at him, a mix of wonder and fondness in his eyes, as if he was a bit taken by surprise by Isak switching from their banter to this.
“Three things.” Isak said to divert the attention from himself, his cheeks a bit pinker than before. “Go.”
Even grinned but nodded after a second longer of intensely looking at him.
“Hmmm. I love your loyalty,” Even said and counted it off with his fingers of the hand Isak wasn’t holding in a firm grip. “Your patience. Aaaand” his eyes growing teasing again, “your squishy nose.”
Isak looked at him startled for a second, still very much occupied with his faltering heart at the first two statements, before he threw his free hand up. He sputtered out a laugh and shook his head, huge grin betraying his outrage.
“Hva faen, Even?” He asked, which got him an innocent look.
“You are meant to point out characteristic. And don’t call it squishy. Eskild does that.”
Even shook his head, gesturing Isak to stop, “Eskild got that from me. I said it first.”
“You said it first.” Isak's voice was disbelieving.
“Ja.” Even shrugged with a proud smile on his face, as if he expected praise.
“I repeat: hva faen, Even.”
“What? I love your nose! Remember when I told you it was my favourite part of you?” (*) he said an and reached up to Isak’s face – or rather, to his nose – and stroked over his nose with his thumb. “It’s the softest! And just so bendy. It’s perfect,” he finished his explanation, not putting his hand down but continued to press into Isak’s nose.
“You’re ridiculous,” Isak said, sounding more nasal than usual, but leaned a bit into the touch. His boyfriend was officially the strangest person he knew – he loved it.
“It’s still against the rules to name a physical attribute,” Isak protested which made Even roll his eyes for once.
“Pfff. Oh physical attribute. Mr. big words. Ok, you can name two characteristics and one physical attribute, too.”
Isak nodded his ok, Even’s hand finally stopped to squish the nose and slid to Isak’s neck instead.
“Ok,” Isak started, “so, I love your hands,” he said and held one finger up to signalize one.
“And second-“
“My hands?” Even grinned widely, his eyes almost vanishing from the force of it. He lifted the hand that was on Isak’s neck and wiggled his fingers.
“This hand?” Isak rolled his eyes and grabbed for it, entwining their fingers of both hands.
“Both of them, yes.”
Even’s smile grew soft and he leaned forward a bit but not crossing the distance, which left Isak to initiate a kiss (which he did, of course). So, after two (or five) pecks Isak continued, “Your positivity and your strength.”
Even’s face sobered a bit at that and Isak saw him swallow and then, to his surprise, there was a slight blush on Even’s cheeks.
Even was barely ever shy or blushy and when it happened it made something primal bloom in Isak. He wanted to just throw Even over his shoulder and lock them into their bedroom for the rest of the week.
Isak squeezed Even’s hands and leaned forward again, nuzzling his nose over the pink tinged cheeks of his boy.
“You’re cute.” Isak murmured against Even’s skin and closed his eyes when he places tiny kisses from one cheek over Even’s lips to the other cheek.
 Some time later that day:
They were at a party, Isak and Even sitting on a wide couch with Jonas. Mahdi and Magnus sitting on the little couch table in front of them.
“You two seem even more cozy than usual,” Mahdi noted, handing the joint over to Magnus.
Isak looked to Even at Mahdi’s comment and couldn’t help the lovey-dovey smile that took over his face. They were not only sitting close, but almost half of Isak’s back was pressed against Even’s chest, hand on Even’s leg.
Even had his arm around Isak’s shoulder and his hand lay flat against Isak’s stomach.
Even mirrored his fond expression and leaned in, placing a soft kiss to the tip of Isak’s nose. Isak’s eyes drooped shut at this.
In the back of his head he registered Magnus telling (complaining to) Jonas and Mahdi all about the trust seminar, but Isak’s focus was pulled back to Even when the hand on his stomach began to gently stroke over it. Isak hummed his contentment and melted further into Even.

The Game(15)
Julian
Tumblr media
Well the day is here. Our first away game. Unlike how things use to be from what I'm told when games are on Friday's they moved to Saturday. It's not a big change but we get a little relaxing time before games instead of going from school straight to practice and then the game.
Since it's the weekend I'm at work. I've been a junior mechanic for a couple years but my dad just started paying me. He's taught me everything I know. My first car actually was one out of a junk yard that we put back together ourselves. It was good bonding for us and I learned a lot of what I know now.
I enjoy it nice pay plus I spend most weekends with my dad his girl and my sister. She's the sweetest little thing. I call her cupcake just cause she's small and cute.
"Miss your car is ready." I drop the tip half of my jumpsuit over my waist. "Everything should be moving nice and smooth now if not blame my dad he taught me this stuff."
"You are so handsome and look so much like your father." She winked punching my cheek. "Can you take tips?"
"I'm sure I can." I smirk.
She nods slipping something on my hand kissing my cheek. I pass her the keys and open her door.
"You mackin on the job son?" My dad grabbed my shoulders. "Cougars huh?"
"Nah just being nice." A hundred dollar tip...I'll be nice more often. "That was my last one I think."
"Yeah go ahead and head home I should be there soon."
"Ok you need me to pick up cupcake?" On the weekends she goes to some camp thing. It's just somewhere for parents who work on weekends to leave their kids.
"If you can Beth should be home by now."
The day no one saw my dad moved on. It took him so time to finally see mom was through with him. He use to constantly ask me about her shit got on my last nerves.
By the time I got to the school they weren't out yet but it was almost time. I killed it by being on my Snap. Everyone I follow username goes by their name in my phone outside some ppl from Instagram or celebrities.

Looks like some got their hair done for the game. I swear she makes my heart skip a beat. That smile just....uh!
"Julian?"
"Joan hey." I've seen her around school a lot we have a few classes together. "You picking up a sibling?"
"No I work here everyday after school and a few weekends. What are you doing here?"
"Picking up my sister."
"Cool you look nice."
I had on my oily jumpsuit. "Uh thanks you to."
"So are you ready for the game tonight first of the season and it's away."  She sat next to me smiling wide.
"Yeah way ready we gonna bring home a big win. You coming to the game?"
"Of course I'm gonna be the loudest one there cheering for you I mean the team."
.....ok.
"Julian!" My sister came running over.
I scoop her up spinning. "Hey cupcake." She kissed my cheek hugging me but pushed off me.
"Who are you and why are you talking to my brother?"
Joan gasp looking at me. "Um hi I'm Joan a friend of your brother."
"Oh well ok just don't be so close to him he already has a girlfriend. Right Julian?"
"Um who you talking about?"
"Stanley duh!" She hopped out my arms.
"Your cousin?"
"She's not my cousin but that is who she's talking about."
She looked at me for a second with this look. Yeah I know she got some crush or whatever on me but I'm taken. Stanley may not be my girl officially yet but we're taking things slow which doesn't mean I can go entertaining other girls just because. My feelings for Stanley are beyond real so the day she says she's ready I'm going all out.
We gonna go on a bomb ass mind blowing first date imma spoil her rotten she'll never question my feelings for her. Is the feeling love? I don't think it is but I just know that will come soon.
After that awkward encounter I walked off. "Julian isn't Stanley your girlfriend?"
"Not yet but she's very special to me."
"Well why isn't she yet what are you waiting for!?"
"She wants to take things slow because I would be her first boyfriend."
Me and my sister are really close as you can see. I tell her everything and treat her like a princess. She already knows how a guy should and should treat her when he likes her. It's a instant thing to be super protective over any woman in a mans life from family to friends.
Before heading home I got us some slurpee's.
"Hey Beth."
She's nice pretty good in a kitchen. "Hey Julian thanks for picking her up. Dinner should be ready for you leave for the game."
"Cool you coming?"
"Yeah...you think your mom will be ok with this I just don't want any drama." She placed a plate in front of me. Meat loaf mashed potatoes and greens.
"Trust me my mom is not worried." ******** "Let's go cobras lets go! Let's go cobras let's go!"
The team walked off the bus into the graffiti covered school. The cheer leads wave the pompoms as we enter the gym. Both sides covered in students from each school.
I love this the big hype before the game. After setting my things down I started shooting around with the other players.
"Man I am so ready for this game to start!" Mike my best friend said shaking me around. "We gonna stomp these niggas to the ground."
Laughing I shoot still hearing the sweet swish even with all the other noise.
Stanley
Tumblr media
I know I should’nt be as nervous as I am since I'm just a cheerleader. All we do is keep our side hyped up and try to throw off the other side. This is my first time cheering in front of more than the girls and a few students. I can just feel my nerves getting to me...I need a breather.
"Stanley ah this is it!" Mona jumped shaking her pompoms in my face.
"Girls smile!" Mom called out blinding us really quick. "Ah you two look so cute!"
"I don't remember those skirts being that small." Dad came up behind her.
"Oh please Chris like you cared how short my skirt was back then."
"Yeah you right...see if you can barrow one we can do somethings." He kisses her neck and walks off.
"He's so gross. I'm gonna go get some air really quick." Mona nods going back to the rest of the cheer team.
After standing outside for a while I went back in and to the water fountain. While drinking someone laughed.
"Mighty thirsty huh?"
Blushing I step away from the fountain. "Just some nerve drinking. Shouldn't you be on the court?"
"Yeah but I saw you come out here and wanted to make sure you were ok." He walked up taking my hands.
"Oh I-I'm fine just a little nervous...kind of silly huh?"
"No I'm nervous to buy I have you here cheering me on there no way I'll lose tonight."
My face had to be cherry red by now. "I guess so but we should probably get out there the game is starting soon."
"Ok but first...good luck kiss?"
One kiss wouldn't hurt right? But is this really the perfect place for a first kiss? Smiling I moved a little closer his hands moving to my waist. Before we could even try it that girl from the hall came out the gym doors.
"There you are look I made this shirt." She ran up pulling him from me. Turning her little fake jersey had his number hand written on both sides with "#1 Fan" on the back. "Cute right!?"
"Uh yeah. Joan this is Stanley...pookie this is Joan she's new to the school."
"Hi." I waved.
She nods chuckling. "Cheerleader huh? You know I thought about joining the team."
"Oh you should it's really fun."
"I heard big I'm not sure if I'm ready for what comes with the name." She shrugged.
"What you mean?" Julian came back next to me. I noticed her tense up but I don't think he did.
"Well for one the uniforms always so small and tight plus the whole purpose of them is to entertain...it's like the beginners for a life as a stripper." She laughed. "And then you know it's the whole thing that most cheerleaders are sluts who sleep with anything wearing a varsity jacket."
"I think that's more of a stereotype planted by tv shows. We simply just keep everyone pumped there's nothing wrong with putting a smiles on people faces. Only a simple minded person would actually believe everything they hear or see especially if it's something you personally know nothing about. But then again cheerleading isn't for everyone. Only so many have the spirt, personality, and overall it factor to be a cheerleader."
She looked me up and down sly but quick. "Very true I just have to much self respect to down myself as something so degrading to young woman."
"Clearly not to much since you considered it." Julian chuckled beside me. "I think we should head in it was nice meeting you."
"Yeah you to. Win big Julian see you on the side line Steve." She smirked.
"As well John remember go cobras!"
After she was out I look at Julian. "Baby that was dope as hell you really took her down a level." He squeezed me kissing my cheek.
"Why did she come at me like that? I don't even know that girl."
I hate when people are just rude for no reason. All that dumb stuff she said about cheerleaders like for what!?
"I don't know I think she got a crush on me or something. Who cares tho cause I got my girl already. You coming out with us after the win tonight?"
His arms wrap around my waist pulling me in closer than before. "I might."
Chuckling he cups my face. "I want you to be there ok?"
I nod not being able to form any real words right now. Leaning down he kisses my cheek inches from my lips.
Eventually we go back into the gym just before they started the national anthem. While standing I look just randomly around the gym and happen to unfortunate see that Joan chick. She was already looking at me but rolled her eyes.
"Who the hell is that?" Moan whispered.
"Joan some new girl."
"Well why is she looking over here rolling her eyes and shit. Does she not know I beat ass?"
Chuckling I turn away. "She likes Julian or something and makes it so obvious. She made a shirt with his jersey number and #1 fan on the back."
"Really well you need to tell her to take her thirsty ass back wherever she came from. She know about y'all?"
"She does now...she caught us in the halls talking. Turns out she a petty little thing just talked about cheerleaders saying we're beginner strippers then had the nerve to call me Steve."
"You wanna jump her after the game!"
"No Mona I'm just gonna leave her to be jealous and petty. Julian doesn't want her so I haven nothing to worry about."
I look back over she she's whispering and laughing to some other girls pointing our way.
"And if she continues to try at Julian?"
"I'll just politely ask her to back off. Not everything has to end in violence Mona." She put her hands up shrugging.
The game was about to start with the tip off. Julian went to center court. Looking my way he points then makes a heart with his hands. Blushing I blow him a kiss. I haven nothing to worry about.
"Go Julian!!"
"Damn could she be any louder. I say you do something to just show her that she needs to back off."
Through out the game I just cheered on for our team. One of the guys from our side just made a shot and everyone erupts in loud screams. The other team got fouled and went up to the free throw line. We shake around our pompoms to distract him making him miss.
By the end our school won. Everyone ran to the center crowding the team. Someone grabbed me from behind. "My good luck charm." Julian kissed my cheek before letting go.
"My boy!" His dad came putting him in a head lock.
The rest of the family came over praising him.
"Y'all see those shots man took me back to my high school days." Dad sighed.
Some lady and a little girl came over hugging him. "Guys this is my dad girlfriend Beth and my sister as you all know." They both waved. "This is my aunt Camila uncle Chris cousins Mona Maurice Maliki Morgan Mylan, this is Stanley their adopted daughter, my mom Isabel future step dad Max brother Chase, my other aunt Rebecca and my fake cousins Elias and Amanda."
"Wow big family. It's nice to meet you all."
"So are you her mom." Mona asked her.
"No but I love her and Julian like my own."
Everyone left out the gym ready to head to the celebration party. Julian said it's at some pizza place. Mona said she's gonna call it a night.
"Please come you know I'm gonna be the outsider." I begged trying to pull her out the car.
"Julian will be there relax and have fun."
"But not to much fun and be home by 11." Dad said turning me to him. "If I don't see you by 11:02 I'm hunting somebody down."
"Ok ok got it."
"Pookie come on girl everybody leaving!"
I slowly walk over getting in his car. We drove not to long before getting to the pizza place. I didn't see any of the others cars actually it wasn't many cars at all around here.
"Where is everyone?" I asked when he came opening my door.
Ignoring my question he lead the way into the restaurant. "Hi welcome how many?" The host greets us.
"Two please."
Two? She took us to a table leaving menus.
"Uh Julian what's going on?"
"This isn't where the party is I told you a little fib." He smiled taking me hand.
"Then why are we here?"
"I wanted to just spend time with you. Now this isn't a date per say but I see it as like a pre first date."
Oh.
