Rings of Power-Glad it's over, but hear me out!

No, not in the 'I hate this show and Tolkien would have hated it too' kind of way. I liked the show, didn't love it. Maybe I will love it as we get more seasons, but right now I'm good.

I'm glad it's over in the sense that maybe, just maybe, we can have some peace, at least in our corner of the world.

I think by the time Season Two roles around, the hate watchers will get bored and move on to something else. The lore purists (love you all) will also have given up on it and will have gone back to arguing over who Gil-Galad's father was. I know of at least one lore channel who refuses to review the show because he doesn't want to add to the negativity. He had major problems with it but doesn't want to hurt or antagonize the people who like it. Kuddos to him. Maybe he just doesn't want to lose subscribers, but at least he's not making things worse.

I curated my feed everywhere and blocked a lot of commentators and channels, so I didn't see most of the hate, but I knew it distressed a lot of fans of the show. IF it follows the same pattern as it did with movies, the intense negativity eventually drops away. Hope is never meager.....

Do you ever think about how Tolkien’s vision of the greatest evil in the universe was something he referred to as “The Machine” which was his way of talking about accelerated industrialism and mass surveillance and he wrote multiple books where the main villains were a dragon who sits on a huge pile of treasure that he never intends to use but incinerates anyone who comes near it, a man in a giant tower who’s wrecking the environment with his factories, and an evil being who uses what’s essentially a listening device to control the citizens of middle earth. And now Amazon is making a Tolkien show. Do you ever think about that.

Even though Rings of Power ended a bit ago we didn't get a chance to cover it because we were doing special episodes for Geektober but we've finally gotten around to it. Here our thoughts on the show in a new episode of We Speak Geek .

You know... I really thought I was crazy about how ROP's costumes look so shitty until I came across pic below of this character and saw she's actually wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath her chestplate with the exact same gold scale design printed on.

Remember folks, the budget of this show is half a billion dollars compared to Peter's Jackson Lord of the Rings 250 million budget released twenty years ago and still looking beautiful.
