You know Mark has to have been yanked into a game of Fuck/Marry/Kill superhero edition at some point in his life. When he initially picked kill for Omni-Man everyone just assumes it's because he's straight and can't stand to be perceived in any way queer. Then he gets pitted up against like, Sewer Grate and Mud Maniac and people realize he always picks kill for Omni-Man.
So someone just has to break down and say, what did Omni-Man do that hurt you so bad? Fuck your mom?
And Mark just had to sit there in silence.

Father-son bonding ♥
Yeah okay maybe I have a bit of a problem. Just a teensy eensy weensy bit though. Maybe.
I was gonna make Thula and the other guy into evil Kryptonians but when I went to make her into Faora I realized she's actually just Anissa in like every way (which pairs nicely with a C*****st Brutaal and T***gg Zod). So I didn't end up doing that.
Included some cute Kon and Jon cause I can. Almost switched the colors and made Ollie Mario.
(Made the second image mainly because I thought Mark looked funny in the back, but then I accidentally made Conner vogue which is incredibly in-character lol)
(That second image could also be Jor-El and Jon but it didn't fit this au [plus you can tell I did not care to put effort in that one])
(Sidenote Debbie would make an awesome Lois and I just wanted to point it out)

i’m actually shocked at how incredible of an adaptation the invincible animated show is tbh. i read the entirety of the comics after season 1 ended thinking that would give me a little edge on knowing the story but season 2 has been surprising me left and right with how much they’ve added and changed while still keeping the original spirit.
every episode im pointing at the scenes and going !!! !!! they didn’t do that in the comics !!! they’re developing the characters so much more!! and it’s still entertaining to me as someone who has read the comics since even though i know the basic structure of the events im still basically just as clueless as a first-time watcher because of how much substance the show added. that was the best part of having kirkman as the head writer, i think. it’s like he’s using the show to write a second draft of his already awesome comic. and i respect that so much as someone who has done the same with my own writing
for anyone exclusively watching the show, i highly recommend reading the comics. the plot has diverged SO MUCH since season 1. there are honestly parts in s2 that im surprised werent in the comics in the first place because it just seemed so obvious. watching how the show builds on the original comics will make you appreciate it even more, i promise.

Loved how the season finale for Invincible was handled with ONE lil exception... So I did an edit of Agent Spider so he scratches my very specific Spider-man brain itch without crossing that legally distinct area 😁♥️🖤

uhhhhhhhh what the FUCKING FUCK happened in the space between season one and season two of Invincible bc one minute Mark is being pummeled to death by his dad and next they’ve taken over the fucking planet and Eve has shaved her head.

While the breakup was inevitable (especially if you read the comics), I think the show handled it phenomenally with it being even better than how it was done in the comics. Steven Yeun and Zazie Beetz absolutely killed it in this scene with you really being able to hear the heartbreak in both of their voices as Mark and Amber realize that for as much as they love each other, they can't make this relationship work. Then you have the "I can't live in your world, I want to, but I can't." which👏👏👏. That is some absolute peak writing. I haven't consumed many stories that actually treat the breakup as a heartbreaking moment for both characters involved since it's usually just treated as a minor obstacle to prevent the main romance from happening sooner. While I'm fine with that in some cases, I feel like it's a disservice when the main character's temporary love interest is a genuinely interesting and fun character who has a good rapport with them. In that same regard, it has been a nice change of pace to see characters who do care for each other attempt to make things work and talk about the issues before accepting that what they have just isn't going to work.
It's also a good commentary on the nature of superhero/civilian relationships since while someone like Debbie was able to handle the stress of it, Amber isn't able to do so. And that doesn't make her weak or a pushover, it makes her human because not everyone is built to handle that kind of life and it's totally understandable.

As much as I love other adaptations of comics, I have to admit it is so refreshing to see Invincible's team follow the source material so closely, with scenes, screencaps, and even dialogue lifted directly from the comic.
And they could've just had it there, with a direct adaptation that adds nothing new. But no! They're able to make changes and decisions that affect arcs and relationships while still keeping to the original series.
It allows for new viewers to experience the same story but make that experience familiar yet refreshing for people who've already read the comic, all while managing to not break the flow.

the hate towards amber in the invincible tv show is wild honestly because other than that one line (the one where she reveals she knew mark was a superhero) that was a slight fumble on the part of the show runners, she’s actually really excellent and excels at her narrative role compared to her comic counterpart who is just kind of there to be a placeholder date before mark gets with eve.
i admit that line was kinda poorly set up and could’ve been written better (like maybe her instead saying “ugh i expected it but that doesn’t excuse the way you treat me”) but like. Really? did that negate every single thing her character stood for prior to this point? how amber is actually really good for putting up with his bullshit for so long even after he flaked out on dinner with her parents? how she put mark in his place for thinking he could get away with neglecting his relationships just because he’s a hero? how it showed that he’s acting just like how nolan treats debbie? did One single line, said during a moment of anger and frustration, change all of that?
her character is a great parallel between mark and his dad in s1 and is even better in s2 at showing how mark physically can’t live a normal life no matter how much he wants to. like we know amber isn’t endgame and that’s what hurts a lot. they want to be normal college kids going through their awkward teen years together but i guess that one slightly weak line of dialogue made her character “terrible” and “ruin mark.” also even setting aside the myriad of… Other biases, a lot of people just seem to forget the fact that she’s a teenage girl sooooooooooo
(also i’m thinking about this one comment i saw on youtube where someone was like “i didn’t watch that scene initially so i didn’t understand the hate but after i watched it i hate her as well” and. seriously. are you being so serious right now.)
anyway i’m an amber defender to my death she’s amazing in the show and deserves nice things. if you are a video analyst who actually sees her as a normal character instead of calling her “the other woman” you immediately gain my respect
