contains a small spoiler from season two of Invincible

you and Mark have been in a relationship for many months already

you two went through a lot together, especially since how he’s literally a superhero

despite that though, you both were able to overcome the challenges and became stronger than before

later that day, he asks you to get some coffee together. his treat

you immediately said yes since you haven’t see him in a while, he just came back from space and all you want to do is just know what happened out there

when you arrived at the place, he was sitting there at a table

when he noticed you coming in, he immediately turned his back and started waving at you with a small smile on his face

he seemed okay, thank gosh

you went over to him and sat down across from him, he seemed relieved to finally see you

“Mark! I’m glad you got back safely. I missed you.”

“I missed you too, not being able to text you in space made me just want to fly to Earth to see you.” He said and chuckled a bit.

Mark always had a soft spot for you

whenever you tell him you think that you two aren’t spending enough time together, he always tries to cancel his mission so he can stay with you unless it was something he actually needs to do

he told you everything that happened — omni man, new half-brother, sequids everywhere, etc

listening to it just made you realize how much Mark has been through

“I really need a break from space and everything that happened, right now I just want to spend time with you.” He said and then placed his hand on top of yours.

you could feel your heart flutter a bit

even though he’s busy a lot, he always tries his best to spend quality time with you

isn’t that so sweet? trying to make time for you despite having a busy schedule

“Yeah, just know that I’m here for you okay?” You responded, trying to comfort him. A smile forms on his face and he looks into your eyes.

“Thank you. I really needed to hear that. I love you, so much.”

As much as I love other adaptations of comics, I have to admit it is so refreshing to see Invincible's team follow the source material so closely, with scenes, screencaps, and even dialogue lifted directly from the comic.

And they could've just had it there, with a direct adaptation that adds nothing new. But no! They're able to make changes and decisions that affect arcs and relationships while still keeping to the original series.

It allows for new viewers to experience the same story but make that experience familiar yet refreshing for people who've already read the comic, all while managing to not break the flow.

MARK GRAYSON CRUSH & DATING HEADCANONS

CRUSH

when he first saw you in the hallway at school, you caught his eye

he was just talking to William and when you passed by him, all his attention on William shifted to you

he couldn’t help it, you were just so mesmerizing

he didn’t fall in love with you immediately since he didn’t really knew what you were like yet

when he did get the chance to though, thats when he was head over heels for you

the more he spends time with you, the more he realizes how his heart beats faster whenever you’re around

whenever you talk to him, he often stutters and mixes up his words

it’s embarrassing for him, but its cute

whenever you tease him, his face just turns red and he tries to tease you back

Mark would mention you a lot to his parents

the first time you came over to help him study, his mom, Debbie asked “Mark, isn’t this the person you often talk about at dinner?”

Mark just stood there, red as a tomato and immediately denied

DATING

eventually he asked you out and you said yes

ever since he got his powers and became Invincible, he would often come late to dates

he would always come up to you, panting while his hand was holding flowers for you or a small gift

he would remember little things about you and try his best to make sure the gift he gives you is something you would like

you heard him apologize a dozen times already about how late he was

of course, you had no idea at the time about his powers and everything so you just assumed he’s being rude on purpose

this led to many fights

you both were able to work it out each time though by communication

when Mark finally told you he’s Invincible after another argument about him being late, you stood there thinking he’s probably making another excuse

“You don’t believe me? Fine.”

Mark then proceeds to float up in the air, his feet were off the ground

that’s when it hit you and made you realize why he was late all of the time

he wasn’t lying, he IS Invincible

ever since that day, your relationship with Mark was stronger than ever

you often had to make excuses for him, but you didn’t really mind (it can get annoying after multiple times)

he would often call you petnames — babe, baby

he would definitely love to cuddle with you and sleep beside you

Mark loves to admire you and think about how lucky he is to have you

Viltrumites are so freaking dumb...

I love this freaking dumbass logic of trying to cut off their weak to secure that only the strong remain and create an empire completely based on "survival of the fittest" and "Might makes right", only for these idiots to later go "Oh, balls! We literally eliminated half of our population and are on the brink of extinction! Time to explore the universe and find other weaker planets to secure our survival!"

10/10 plan, guys. You tried to prove you don't need the weak to survive and now you're desperately running around like a bunch of headless chickens in search of the weak in order to survive.

I was so happy when I saw Mark refusing to yield even when his boss told him to, because it just shows that if this race was really so brilliant and perfect like they said, they wouldn't need to conquer other planets in the first place.

"An advanced and sophisticated, superior empire ready to expand its glory with the rest of the universe!" and yet their oh-so-sophisticated method of expanding their "glory" is by beating people up like a bunch of enraged apes fighting over a banana.

Mark refusing to agree to their terms shows how flawed their logic is, because they know if Earth doesn't surrender and perishes trying to fight back, they're gonna be screwed as well.

The fact is, the strong needs the weak just as much as the weak needs the strong.

But the strong is often so proud of its strength that it can't even see how much so much of what they have, they have it because of the weak.

I really, really, liked this episode and how this conflict got handled. I love how unappealing they made the Viltrumite Empire look, by showcasing their dependence on violence to achieve things.

They basically showed that no matter how they try to paint it, how pretty they try to make their society look, how advanced they try to make their people sound, if you need to rely on fear and on harming others to get things done, you're not advanced or superior... You're just a bully.

"It's not just words..."

I'm very proud of Mark! Dude really has an invincible spirit.

Massive spoilers for the Invincible comic, and, by proxy, the show

Season 2 so far is really keeping me even more interested than season 1 did. And so three things I'm really hyped for.

I'm so excited to see what they do with Thragg. How he'll look in the artsyle, who they'll cast.

Seeing as how they're kinda combining the arcs and already tackling the multiverse, this one may actually be a few seasons away. I mean, I can't imagine the show running as long as the comic. Honestly I'm just excited to see the Invincible War in general.

But of course, most exciting of all,

I need them to do this justice. I wanna just have some regular character-driven episode and then in the middle cut to the fight just to see how it's going.
