i love drawing very very much, and it needs to be a part of my day every day -- so i set aside 1 hour in the morning to draw before i start working on anything else. sometimes this means progress on larger drawings can be slow, because i don’t always get more time in the evening to put the work in, but at the very least i get to chip away at things every single day. i take screencaps to remind myself that i’m getting it done even when it feels like it’s taking forever. a good friend suggested that i put all of these progress shots together (from my latest drawing), so i did! enjoy!
i’m now officially a speedrunner! i did my first-ever run yesterday morning, running sonic mania as ray, with no emeralds + no major glitches. this is a category that, around the time of the new years' eve charity stream, i noticed was completely empty on the leaderboards; that totally surprised me and i thought it would be fun to try, especially since i love playing as ray.
my method is extremely casual -- no looking at any guides or using any strats i didn't know previously, just using my own knowledge of the game, playing as fast as i can, rolling with the punches, and having fun! there were some actual "huh i've never even seen this before" bits, i got my best time on most levels, and it was fun figuring things out on the fly. my goal was to get down to a time that i would consider "a stream," which for me would be 2.5 hours -- and i didn't expect to beat that on my first try, but i did, clocking in at 02:21:22!
overall i had a ton of fun doing this, and am excited to try again for sub-2 hours when i have some free time. enjoy!
