You know I was wondering if Crocodile ever did have any kind of involvement with the Revolutionary Army in secret (lest the Government finds out and revokes his Shichibukai status), what kind of involvement would that even have been
And now, with both the Vegapunk/Ohara flashback and Kuma's flashback, it's being made very clear to us that the Revolutionary Army was broke as hell 22 years ago. Like the fact that this has been brought up twice now in a relatively short span of time is interesting to me, that's usually a sign it's not an unimportant plotpoint
But you know who would have had money to help fund the Army
A funny little warlord who would eventually go and build a fucking casino to run for funsies. A warlord who had to give the Government some of his Pirating Income to keep his warlord-status
Like Crocodile hated the Government anyways so why not help fund the Revolutionary Army in secret, out of spite if for no other reason
Vaguely related, but I keep on remembering this scene (post-Enies Lobby), which at first glance just seems like a basic Lore Dump
But then there's the
"Yet..."
(Or "however", she says "no ni" in Japanese and you could translate that in many ways, I would probably have gone with "however" but that wouldn't have fit into the speechbubble)
Mind you, the conversation just kind of ends there, next we see Garp realize he probably shouldn't have mentioned Dragon infront of such a massive audience, so wherever that "yet" was going to lead to we will never find out, because Oda conveniently changed the subject before we got to it
And you know. Like yes, Robin could be just expressing her shock over finding out that the leader of the Revolutionary Army had a child with someone
But also, Robin was a part of an organization that was trying to overthrow one of the founding countries of the World Government in an explicit attempt to go against said Government (compared to like, Blackbeard, who currently wants to make Fullalead into a "pirate country" that's a part OF the World Government)
Like you don't have to be a genius to look at Crocodile's ultimate goals and compare that to what Dragon is doing and find a few similarities here and there maybe
(Also like, Crocodile's equivalent in Romancing SaGa 2 is meant to be Wagnas, the queer-coded leader of the Seven Heroes (whom the OG Shichibukai are based on) who "hoped to help the world". You know, an interesting detail and all.)
Not to mention, during the time Robin spent with Baroque Works, if Crocodile was ever in contact with the Revolutionary Army at all, considdering she has the ability to easily spy on people and that she didn't trust Crocodile one bit, it wouldn't be unsurprising if she ever spied on Crocodile and/or just overheard a phone call or knew about Crocodile having secret spending habits or something
(Mind you, I'm not saying "she knew" Crocodile was involved with the Revolutionaries, more that she might've been Suspecting Things, that "yet" being about her connecting the dots while unsure if her conclusion was right or not)
Of course Crocodile's plans can't have been Dragon Approved by any means, especially considdering the Army had been looking for Robin for over 10 years (pre-timeskip)
Four years of which were with Crocodile. Like if he was FULLY allied with the Army and KNEW they were looking for Robin, surely he would've called Dragon and been like "hey I found the kid from Ohara, wanna come hang out" or something. But no, he had bigger plans and kept Robin a secret from the Revolutionaries and the Government alike
Also like, I have seen people question why the Revolutionaries weren't involved with Alabasta's rebellion at all, and "Oda hadn't come up with the Revolutionaries yet at the time of writing" (/"OP was meant to end at Alabasta at one point so there would've been no reason to introduce the subplot at that point") aside
Between Baroque Works being a secret organization working undercover (thus the Army might not have been aware of the civil war being manufactured), the framing of the King making him look bad and very much the type of monarch that deserved to be overthrown in the Army's eyes, and Crocodile maybe lying through his teeth about what was happening in the country... Yeah, the Army's lack of involvement with Alabasta suddenly makes sense
EDIT Minor addition: Just realized that because Crocodile was technically working for the Government, if the Revs ever did send forces to participate in Alabasta's civil army and taking down the throne, the Government could've easily ordered Crocodile to step in to stop the rebellion and take down the Revolutionaries, right? Because he was supposed to be on the Government's side, right? And surely the Army wouldn't have wanted to fight against Crocodile if they were secretly allied (Croc's secret betrayal aside), and if Crocodile refused to fight the Revs the Government could've seen that as a reason to revoke his Shichibukai rights (which wouldn't be great if they wanted to keep Crocodile in a position where he could fund the Army?). So it could've also been a case of it being for the best for everyone's sake to let this one play out "naturally"
But my point is
I'm just deeply intriqued by these little details and wonder if I'm Actually Masterfully Connecting The Dots Like a True Genius or just seeing a pattern where there's none.
Like this is far from confirming the theory, I'm just saying, the pieces do kinda fit together do they not

#Wow. Okay ♡#I love this episode. The animation is flawless. The drawings quality is out of the world for real.#I love this episode so much I'm so grateful so much care and dedication went to this sskk centered episode.#(Refraining to talk about what 5x03 could have been)#Sorry for repeating myself but seriously the illustrations this episode are so so pretty.#I rarely appreciate how Akutagawa is drawn in the anime but when it comes with this episode I really like how he looks too.#And Atsushi that I already like a lot in the anime on average‚ this episode is just fabulous. Handsome even.#Seriously I don't know who the animators are but I want to kiss them. This art style is one I dare say I like even more than Dead Apple–#that although is obviously more detailed is just... In comparison too rough for my personal taste?#The art style for this episode is very delicate and soft and I love it tons#And the directing is just great. No weird pacing or awkward ost choice. It's neat.#The reiterated placing ss/kk on opposite sides is neat. The lightening is likeable and especially the purple scene is super pretty.#The “don't compare me to him” scene is neat. The ss/kk final scene is AMAZING. It's gorgeous and stunning and awestriking and every other–#epitome in the world. It's like the only scene I believe turned out better in the anime that it is in the manga which is saying SO MUCH.#But it's really that good!!!!! My favourite anime ss/kk scene ever.#Aaaaaahhh please let me talk about it forever it's sooo pretty and especially poignant...#The heaven-like soft yellow light and how it contrasts with the bleak stormy background. But especially their softening features...#Man that scene. okay. Akutagawa's quiet surprise!!!! That scene is. Idk. Unfortunately chapter 88 exists–#but it's nearly the most romantic thing ever.#I'll leave it at this. I kind of want to write a fic where Odin is about to banish Thor and Loki's watching it go down and the guilt is eating at him and right before Thor gets yeeted through the Bifrost, Loki yells, "IT WAS ME!" and, because that's actually words (and interesting words at that), Odin actually stops what he's doing to listen instead of just yelling a keyboard smash out loud, and Loki explains that he manipulated Thor into attacking Jotunheim, but it was never supposed to get that far and he's very sorry and it will never happen again. and he thinks he's mitigating the damage but instead Odin just banishes him instead (and he'd banish Thor too but he needs someone to take the throne and tbh what would it say about him as a dad if he has to banish all three of his kids?)
so then Loki ends up getting hit by Jane's car, except he's not an idiot so he doesn't run around screaming at the sky about being hammered and Darcy never has to taze him so he never ends up in the hospital so they're off to a good start already.
and they get to talking (and they're all very confused and operating under completely different understandings of the situation) and Loki figures out he's in Midgard entirely because they don't know what the Nine Realms are and Midgard is the only realm stupid enough not to know that. Jane mentions that they're scientists and Loki just kinda scoffs at that because scientists on Midgard are like childrens' tutors in Asgard, and Jane is equally offended and impressed.
and I choose to think that Odin never takes Loki's magic away the way he did to Thor's because he can't take it away. if he could, he would've done that before they threw him in the dungeon in TDW. so Loki still has his magic so it's pretty easy to convince them that he's a god (and honestly they're more convinced than he is because he just found out that he might possibly be Jotun?)
so they end up taking Loki with them (against Selvig's better judgment) because he sounds like a know-it-all and he ends up pretty much being a know-it-all so that works well for Jane. and actually it kinda maybe works too well? because she starts to fall in love with him and surprise, it's a Lokane fic and he starts to fall for her and they have babies and live happily ever after!
no jk idk what would happen but I'm thinking Mjolnir would still be out there so maybe Loki would go to check it out and he'd probably have better luck with it because he's magic so it's pretty easy to get everyone out of his way but he's definitely not worthy so he can't wield it but it does get them both tangled up with SHIELD probably?
idk apparently I can only thing of Lokane fic ideas if they have no ending so that's all I got lmao
#it feels poetic tbh that my first lokane fic was in the TVA where we last saw Loki#and that this second Lokane fic would be in Thor where we first saw Loki#(and also that the other fic i have with them (platonically) is after Thor 4 where we last see Jane)#i honestly might write this#i shouldn't like if I'm gonna start something new it should be my Loki/Wanda HYDRA fic because I've been thinking about it for months#but i kinda wanna write this one#maybe I'll just start it tonight and maybe write some tomorrow and then throw it in my folder of abandoned wips idk#lokane#also i must add that my other lokane fic also was just a beginning premise and no ending (although i do have one more chapter of it i need#to write and i just CAN'T so i have no excuse to not have one last chapter before i give up)#so this is very much a trend for me lmao#lokane fics are unfinishable i fear </3#fic idea?#back on my bullshit

Deltarune Chapter 3 will be an interesting one, I think, because it will allow us to get a more clear vision on the patterns the game follows. What things are likely to be repeated and what are just coincidences.
Like... Every dark world so far has had a ruler, but I wonder if that's a necessity? Are all dark worlds MADE with some type of monarchy? And even if they are, how much can that be played around with? Because I can totally see the next storyline being about Toriel becoming the queen of the new dark world (and maybe also the antagonist depending on how the story goes?).
#deltarune#we also had a secret boss for both chapters which I think will repeat for all of them#toby is obviously building up something with the shadow crystals and all that stuff so I doubt he'd just drop that#I do wonder whether they'd be more of a spamton or a jevil though#because spamton has a much bigger role in his chapter than jevil did. he's got two fights instead of one (three if you count snowgrave)#not to mention his shop. he's also a completely unavoidable encounter#meanwhile I didn't at all know about jevil when I first played chapter one#also- the weird route. will we have another one? or will this chapter be like chapter one and put a stop to our murder?#I like to think we'll be able to kill (or force someone else to do it I guess)#this time we'll be in the dark world with toriel and undyne though. not sure if either of those two would be easy to manipulate#although maybe we can convince toriel to genocide the darkners by saying that she should do it to protect kris#idk I just want bloodshed

using the spy x family anime vs manga translations of examples of translation vs localisation
#spy x family#by this I mean the fact that the anime is as far as I can tell a decent translation#however!#the manga actively chooses to adapt certain lines (usually jokes/gags) so that they make more sense to English readers#rather than simply being literal translations. and I feel that this approach massively increases enjoyment for English readers#(examples: 'plosives' + 'you always want to use the c4' in bond arc and 'swole chihuahua' in yuri study chapter)#I understand that people don't want the meaning to be altered from the original language but the thing is#especially with gags/jokes that aren't going to be plot-relevant it seems fair to me to go much more with the spirit of the joke#rather than the specific meaning#and tbh. whilst some of it may be luck I think it does say something that the choices by the manga TLer hold up when those jokes return#(although again I want to reiterate the anime TL is still good and makes sure to adapt anya's speech etc#it's possible they're not able to easily reuse the manga TL's choices because of legal reasons or sth idk#but I do think the manga TL is a v good example of localisation done well#and as a non jp speaker the anime keyed me into just how good the manga translation was by the points of contrast?)#(also just looked it up and sxf manga translator appears to be Casey Loe so shout out to them ig)#(queueing this so I can jumpscare myself about having posted Opinions on the internet)

#this is the longest it took me to finish a wheel of time book#i haven't been really posting my thoughts as i read through this series but i am an old man staring out his window rn#wot book spoilers#once i hit egwene pov chapters it definitely got better in terms of me actively wanting to sit down and read it#but the parts before... idk if it's because i had my usual break before picking up this book specifically but man.#tragic to me because elayne and mat povs are usually my favorite in the books but alas.#at least i got the “but she loved aviendha every bit as much as she did rand”. much to think about#but yeah it very much feels like a sort of filler book#i feel like a lot of the events could've been shortened?#but i do find a lot of what happened in the back half of the book interesting. like the introduction of so habor#and whatever is going on with mat seeing dead people?? yeah i'm kicking my leggies and am interested to see what's up with those things#although all three boys now getting in some ways alligned with the seanchan... :| not looking forward to that#and i find tuon intriguing she is interesting to me i just wish there was no romance plot here#overall i enjoyed the egwene chapters the most#egwene povs my new best friend#(i'm saying this as if i haven't liked them in previous books. i very much did but there were always povs that i enjoyed more in comparison#anyways. live randland reaction the book goes to the bottom of my list. i am walking off into the sunset with knife of dreams in my hand#olga talks

lol the poor little blurb that inspired this timeloop fic
i wrote it in 2019 as the intro to another fic that i ended up cutting it from because i didn't think it fit well enough. then i stumbled across it again in december and reread it and thought huh, this would be an awesome introductory piece to a timeloop fic.
started drafting, and now. approximately four months and ten chapters in. i'm considering cutting it again
#LIKE... idk i like the writing but it just doesn't relaly#fit the rest of the story#which is funny considering it's what inspired/kicked this off#i just don't want to have it there and have it mislead people into thinking they're going to read something different or confuse readers#because there's lines in there that are like oooh i wonder what this means and then nothing comes from them#im going to try to edit it again (for like the third time since stumbling across it lol) to make it fit the story better#buuuuuuuuuuuuut i might end up just scrapping it once more#i am sorry little blurb...... you have served me well... but i dont know if i can make you fit#not an update#also lol yeah i'm ten chapters into outlining we'll see how many more we have to go#i'm trying to wrap things up but it'll probably be a few more before i can manage that#it'll probably be 12 to 14 chapters? ish? that is my current estimate#although i havent been thinking too much about the post-plot recovery stuff.... hm#i dunno i'll stick to that guess

Okay, I got back to writing WBTL yesterday and now I think this story could’ve been a lot better if I didn’t write it from Valerio’s POV.
#Personal#Was Born To Lead#I’m not saying I should have erased his character#I just think it would have been better if the readers knew him as a wholesome teacher for a longer time?#He can’t rest until people know his secret so there’s going to be a reveal~#and I think it would have been a lot more impactful if the readers knew about him as much as Gabe does#Yeah in that case I probably would have kept Emilio and his suspicions towards Valerio to make a foreshadowing or something#I just really think that I messed up Valerio with all my ‘he’s actually good but his trauma makes him do terrible things’ attidute#Becuase at least at the beginning of this story I wanted him to be sympathetic akhdnfk#And I wrote like two paragraphs in the new chapter about how much Gabe loves and admires Valerio#And really it would’ve been a lot more emotional if Valerio was indeed a kind and harmless teacher#Otherwise it just seems funny and fake#I even know why I expanded this story from Valerio’s perspective so much he was the character I thought a lot off-screen#and I suppose I just wanted to unleash all those ideas as soon as possible#Becuase really the scene when Emilio finds out Valerio’s secret and the scene afterwards when Valerio hears the voices in his head#was literally the first scene I wrote for that chapter before I divided it into two parts#I wanted to write it so much and I did and published it#Ah and in that case most of the chapter would’ve been like two times shorter lmao#Although in that case Emilio probably wouldn’t have been as developed as now so idk#I just still feel insecure about this story at times especially when I think about the things I could do different but well#I’ll try to overcome it I guess#As I said in the new chapter#As a strategist you have to think several moves ahead#if you mess up it’s bad of course but it means you have a new start to properly think everything through again#This is Ximena about chess lol#But I messed up Valerio and this is the fact

#me: I am going to take a break#also me: I am going to listen to music and accidentally think of lots of things I want to write#the first idea that came to me was a phantom thief oumota au#where kaito accidentally gets kidnapped by dice and kokichi#like kaito is helping shuichi out catching the elusive phantom thief and shuichi has garbage luck getting close#meanwhile kokichi spots kaito and turns to dice like guys we have to mess with him#ends up with kaito accidentally being taken since the police or something show up idk I don't tend to plan lmao#my second idea is basically chapter 5 but I shove kaito kokichi and maki in an exisal#basically more of a fanfic where I figure out if kokichi and maki can cooperate#the answer is yes and no#my final idea is a roommate au of some sort???#I was thinking of making it ryoma pov where he kokichi and kaito live together#and basically he's just watching kaito and kokichi fall in love#that's the idea I like the most since I have thought about writing it a lot but hnngngnng#I am garbage at having more than one project on the go at once#although then again each idea is pretty much 2-3 chapter long ideas#I just wanna write something more lighthearted lol#this is what happens when I take too long a break I end up thinking of other ideas lmfao

I’m sorry, not to be Bitter™ about the G/o/T fandom again, but like...I genuinely cannot imagine watching this show (or reading the books it’s based on) if you really ONLY care about one (or two?) characters and hate the rest. There are so many characters in this thing, and if you despise the vast majority of them, then wouldn’t watching/reading the series be just...a miserable experience? Because if you only like one (1) character maybe two if we’re lucky, that character is going to get comparatively little screen/page time, especially in a sprawling and involved work like this. What are you doing for 80-90% of the story, just suffering? Why would you do that to yourself???
#like obviously I have a character I like the MOST but I do genuinely care about and am invested in a bunch of other characters#if I /only/ liked cersei I would have not made it through 8 seasons of show or multiple books#she didn't even have a pov chapter until book 4!!!!!#idk maybe other people can sit through something for 10% of it where a character they like shows up but I can't#if I am not interested in the majority of the characters I'm not gonna have a good time#(although from what it sounds like these people weren't having a good time either if their bitterness at the end of the show is anything to#go by)#every day the 'five hour video essay about the show and how it wasn't a scourge on storytelling actually' urge grows stronger
