^^ new itchio page to keep track of the Of The Killer series, now with promotional poster art by A Degen (Soft X-Ray / Mindhunters, The Marchenoir Library). Full series on the page!
Finally getting around to putting these on my main. When I started making the horror games it had been a while since I did narrative things, so I wanted to make another account where I could experiment and put things out in peace. But I've been happy with them, so, better late than never.
ANATOMY really struck a chord with me. It's an honestly unforgettable experience, much like the rest of Kitty Horrorshow's library of altgames and nanofiction.
Check it out on https://kittyhorrorshow.itch.io/anatomy and look at the rest of her games, while you're at it. Most of them are free! If you like her work, consider becoming a patron https://patreon.com/kittyhorrorshow/. She's a huge inspiration of mine, and deserves the support!
We’re a critically-acclaimed indie game studio and narrative design consultancy based in Vancouver, Canada. With a team full of unique voices, we create hopeful, imperfect worlds, and fill digital spaces with love and cosmic awe. Check out our intro post or our other links in bio :)
How long has Silverstring been active?
The studio has had many lives. It was founded by writer and transmedia designer Lucas J.W. Johnson as a solo narrative design firm. In 2013 he leveled up by partnering with Claris Cyarron, consulting on a host of award winning games and creating a series of experimental and strange altgames, including critically-acclaimed cult classic Glitchhikers: First Drive.
In 2020 Silverstring started production on its first full length in-house game, Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between. The studio grew to a team of nine passionate people, with a diversity of backgrounds, skills, and experiences to help propel the studio to create new and exciting stories that excite our audience and challenge the status quo of what games and stories can be.
What kind of games do you make?
We make people-first, story-rich, indie games. We like to push the boundaries of interactive experiences to create games that are fresh, experimental, and representative of more diverse experiences. Original music is also a key component of our projects.
While we want to tell stories that reflect the complicated world we live in and have nuanced conversations with our players, we lean into cosmic awe, community, and hope.
Along with our full length projects, Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between and Flow Weaver VR, you can check out some of our earlier short experimental projects on Itch.io.
What is Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between?
Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between is about the thoughts that you have when your mind is free to wander, everyday journeys that dominate our time but not our attention, and the parts of our world and existence normally left unexamined. Take a late night highway drive, a quiet train car in the early hours, a walk through a moonlight park, or wait in a deserted airport. Leverage the transformative power of liminal spaces and conversations with strangers.
Part walking sim, part visual novel, this chill and relaxing experience wants you to take some time and space to introspect, connect, and interrogate your own wisdom. It encourages you to be in the moment as you explore several familiar modern rituals, listen to ambient music, and receive light guidance through meandering voiceovers and questions from curious Hikers.
Where can I get your music?
You can find the Glitchhikers Deluxe Soundtrack on your favourite streaming services storefronts here. For other Silverstring Projects, check out the bandcamp of our Lead Composer Devin Vibert (along with some of his amazing personal work).
Do you have a Discord?
For now we don’t have our own Discord Server, but you can hang out with us in the Glitchhikers channel of our publisher Fellow Traveller’s server. We plan on having our own server soon though, so watch this space.
Where else can I follow you?
We plan on having Tumblr be our most active platform as we slowly divest from Twitter. You can follow us on Twitch for weekly streams with our team too. Check out our other platforms here: https://linktr.ee/slvrstrng
Can I join your team?
We aren’t hiring currently but when a position opens up we will post it here, on LinkedIn, and on our jobs page. You can also subscribe to our newsletter.
Hello! My name is Andrew and I created/run/curate/etc. Indiepocalypse!
"But what is Indiepocalypse?" you may ask. Well, you're in luck because I already wrote a starter guide that you can just read!
But basically it's a monthly anthology of games that pays developers (up front and royalties) and even commissions new games each month! It's small press for games! There's no real theme to the anthology (that I often call a zine because I feel it is more aesthetically appropriate though I believe the term often confuses people) other than a focus of alternative games. In the past I've called the games indie, outsider, art, altgames, bedroom dev, or any number of things, but "alternative" is my favorite so far. (though lately i've been leaning towards "underground")
At my most confident I like to say that Indiepocalypse is what you get when instead of just discussing what indie games could/should be and you actually do something. I've collaborated with artists from kuš! comics to make four new games and help put out an issue focusing on Japanese indies.
If you want to buy it, you can buy them (and they're on sale as I post this) I have them all on itch, my own site or you can subscribe and even get physical copies.
To reiterate with just the facts, because I've had some people really not get it. Indiepocalypse
Comes out the first Friday of each month
Is an anthology of 10+ games that you can download and play
Costs $15USD
Is cool
Is a foundational work in games, the influence of which will be noticeable and long lasting (TBD)
Has open submissions
But that's not all! I also
Host a weekly radio show where I talk to (mostly gamedev) artists
Hosted the Sicko Showcase, a showcase of alternative/noncommercial games
Hosted the Local Scene Showcase, highlighting game dev scenes around the world (Saturday 10/29 at 12pm ET, or tomorrow as I post this)
Occasionally make my own games
I basically do a lot! If you're into (especially indie) games and wondering "why haven't I heard of this??" all I can say is YEAH GREAT QUESTION.
A little more about me I suppose: I'm Andrew, a person who turned a desire to have the ability to make a little money off short games into frankly too much work. Work that loses money. I like art.

I’ve released a new game just now, called 10 BEAUTIFUL POSTCARDS.
This is a game about wandering across a wide variety of scrappy multimedia collages in search of hotels to review and also true love. I’ve been working on it for about 2 years. One of the ambitions behind it was to make a game which was fun in the way that looking at a comic or reading a webpage was fun, one which relied on visual pleasure rather than mechanical dexterity but was still able to call upon the videogame resources of modularity and space.
Solace State is showing at Kinda Funny Games Showcase at E3 2019. Glimpse the youth hacker movement. Make a stance.
