I’ve been really wanting a visual novel to get into. I started watching Blasphemous and am enjoying it p good so that’s my go to girl for game watching but I want something to play since I haven’t played anything in a while… I keep just wanting to replay Disco Elysium. But I also want something NEWWWWWWWW but I’m also so picky. I hardly play anything that isn’t mostly a visual novel nowadays.
Speaking of visual novels, I’ve been going thru one called Vengeful Heart on the switch. The art is super cute and the interface and ‘stage changes’ are so cute. The frame it basically a bunch of pipes (yes, I have a water structure thing) and the color scheme is sooo nice, like dark pink, turquoise, purple, and lighter brighter blues and reds and browns for characters generally
ALSO I wonder who out there played Synergia. It’s like a yuri vn. Something about it really clawed me and I ended up really enjoying it a lot. I still think about it. I had so many ideas for
fanart or fan fiction but couldn’t make my mind up on which to start 🙈😭
Anyway. Rec me some puzzle games or rpgs or vns or a good webcomic or something, if you’d like 🥺

🎶✨when you get this, list 5 songs you like to listen to, publish. then, send this ask to 5 of your favorite followers🎶
Oh hai hello hiii! Thanks for sending ask!
Since I have MASSIVE problems with choice, I'm gonna list 10 songs in no particular order whatsoever. I also wont send this to anyone back because... ug.... lazy... And I hate to choose favorites. And besides you don't want to have this ask back at ye for a weird loophole of ask memes.
I completely sidetracked...
Cookie's unorganized and chaotic playlist!(with unnecessary descriptions and thoughts)
Ah! - Jeon Yonghyeon - The whole Mignon soundtrack hits my very sweet spot of techno stuff. And it also EXTREMELY fitting the anime itself, oh the vibes <З
Storyteller and N.S.F.W. - Daisuke Ishiwatari & Naoki Hashimoto - I'd put ALL Guilty Gears OST here if I could, it's just THAT good, but these two just... Resonate with me idk :D8 (Also Drift, but...... Ah..........)
Riot - Hollywood Undead and Revolution - The Score - Hooooly Molly, these songs makes me feel so.... Rebellious! I want to start shit up!
The Wolf - SIAMES - I ADORE their music videos, they're very stylish and have so much meaning in them! Also other songs are very cool too!
ANY Sonic OST made by Crush 40 - Blue Bastard holds me hostage for 20 years and I Crush 40 have a very special place in my heart. I can talk a lot about how influential Live and Learn was for me in childhood or how Sonic Heroes' (my most fav game of this franchise) What I'm made of... was my most fav song for a VERY long time, but I'll spare the rant, lol.
Red Stars - The Birthday Massacre - Not particularly favorite song from this band (that'd probably be Kill The Lights or Happy Birthday ) but oh the RAW... They're also were my first, like, Gothic band I really got into in my teen years.
The more sad/calm songs that wont be for everyone's consumptions:
Breezeblocks - Alt-J - Ah yes, Alt-J... I absolutely adore this music video and the song itself resonates with me on... personal level. That's all I'm gonna say. :")8
Scary Love - The Neighborhood - I love The Neighborhood, a lot of their songs are in my playlist, this one (with Crybaby and Daddy Issues) is my top favs tho. They're like a epitome of my edgy cringy almost-emo teen age era with their songs. I also cant believe they got THE Tommy Wiseau to play in this vid, that's WILD.
Gooey - Glass Animals - Glass Animals are THE band to play on bground while getting absolutely stoned out of your mind bwahaha. I mostly listen to them because I like the... vibes? of their music. Very relaxing.
Sedated - Hozier - Ohhh, Hozier.... DONT turn their songs when I'm around ESPECIALLY when we're drinking together, I WILL cry my eyes out due to some issues and associations they bring to my mind :"З8
And stuff that didn't made it to the list mostly cuz I can't choose favorite and ran out of space:
Daft Punk
Mystery Skulls
Linkin Park
Die Antwoord
Darren Korb (Specifically his Hades and Pyre soundtrack)
Disco Elysium OST
The Cure
Various old-timey songs that make me feel very fuzzy and nice

February - 2023
Games
Disco Elysium- I’ve actually been slowly going through it for over a year (I would play for a few days and then take a break for a few months and then forget where I am and restart). However I finally finished it and I can very easily say it’s one of my favorite games ever. The writing, the style, the music- what’s not to fucking love.
I could talk about this game for hours and I have actually done that enough to convince friends to play it as well. But I probably can’t say anything that hasn’t been said before me.
Great game- I might be in love with Kim kitsuragi.
Rain world(?)- to be honest I haven’t played it (yet?) but I spend way too much time watching gameplay of it and videos about it, went into a deep dive in the wiki. This world absolutely fascinates me, the ecosystem is just wow- even though it seems like a very difficult game I might actually get it one day.
Decide to include it cause it’s my list and I make the rules, also it ate a chunk of my month.
Monster hunter rise- this is my second time trying to get this game and last time I (apparently) quit before even going on a mission. To be fair it was a combination of my own stupidity and the game’s absolute horrible tutorial that made me drop it so fast.
However given a second shot I’m already having more fun, flipping and riding and monster hunting.
I have no idea if anyone ever cared about a character in this game but the monsters are cool and I love them lots.
Why is there a tower defense section is beyond me- I never liked any kind of tower defense, but this is very much the wrong game for it.
Can’t wait to try a hunt with friends- I heard it’s awesome.
Start again: a prologue- a delightful lil rpg that made me feel a lot. I love time loops as a concept already and this was executed so well- I will cry about it.
Can’t wait for in stars and time!! I need more of this cast and world.
Lookouts- another game I’ve been making my way through oh so slowly, no reason here since it’s not really long. It’s a visual novel and I have trouble focusing on reading, that’s my main issue.
However I’m happy I played it- trans cowboys on opposing sides falling in love and find a way for them to have a life- I am the target audience. I love them.
Hue- sure was a puzzle game. And it was a nice one, pretty sure I got it for free and I mostly used it as something to play while I listen to podcasts. It’s cute and not very long and the puzzles were nice.
Shows
Mob psycho s2- still doing my rewatch, still love my sons.
Darry girls s3- finally got around to it, honestly liked it less then the other seasons however it was a nice end to the show as a whole and I’m glad they wrapped it up nicely.
Animation vs Minecraft- what if I told you the animation you used to watch on YouTube as a child kept going on while you looked away. That there is now a storyline spanning several hours which is very neat and dear to my heart.
How simple are your blorbos? Mine are literally just different colored stick man (they are my sons and I love them very much).
I want everyone to watch it, you can’t understand how hard it goes in the final episodes you don’t understand ahhhhha.
Podcasts
Something rotten- did I start this podcast just cause I wanted more Jacob Geller? Yes.
Am I happy I did that? Also yes.
I do not care even a little about the games they talk about but it’s still fascinating to hear them talk about them (along other kind of related topic)
Personally never heard of Blake Hester before but glad I know him now.
Can’t wait for next season where I might play along since I have one of the games in my library for some reason.
Etc?
The prince by Abigail throne (philosophy tube)- so like one of my favorite trans creators writes a play and uploads it in full- I had no doubt it was gonna be good.
Love the characters, love the themes, and the setting (of being stuck inside a play) is very fun.
But man do I not understand Shakespearean speak but that’s more of a me thing.
Felt a lil cliche/sappy at times but it was cute so I had no problem with it.

For the WIP and Published Asks Game!!
🥰 a fluff WIP snippet
😔published lines or a section of a fic that was super sad, angsty, or difficult to write?
Thanks for the tag! Now it's my turn to be late, mostly because I like....do not write fluff by and large and have been wracking my brain for a WIP I have that counts as fluff. Since I came up with nothing in my WIPs, here's a chunk from a recently published fic I wrote for a holiday gift exchange instead!
🥰 a fluff WIP snippet
KIM KITSURAGI - “Detective.”  He pauses a moment, then, “Harry.  You know you don’t need to impress me.” YOU - “Can’t I want to?” Suddenly the words are bubbling up at your lips, urgent.  “Don’t you deserve to be impressed, Kim?” RHETORIC - You know that sounds like– EMPATHY - Shut.  Up. YOU - “I just want you to stay.  For good food, and for berry crumble, and for–to trounce me at board games, after.  I want you to have a good time with me.  Is that too much?” PERCEPTION [Challenging: Success] - Kim lets out a carefully controlled breath.  He’s looking at you very steadily. KIM KITSURAGI - “No, Harry.  That’s not too much.”  His hand tightens for a moment on your elbow, and then he lets go.  He takes the bowl from in front of you, and ladles stew into it, setting it back in front of you full.  “Eat, before it gets cold, hmm?” YOU - The rational thing to do would be to do as Kim says, but instead you say, like a child in need of reassurance, “So you’re staying?” KIM KITSURAGI - There’s something in the way he’s looking at you, now, that you cannot fully parse.  “Yes, I’ll stay.”  He looks away with a smile–an almost private little curve of his lips.  “We have plenty of time.”
And as for an angsty bit of published lines....whoo boy. I've been writing Disco Elysium fic recently, and that is a bittersweet-at-best to dark-at-worst canon to start from (admittedly while also being one of the funniest games I have ever played), so my recent fics have been A Lot. Warning for a mention in this chunk of Harry's canonical past suicidal ideation I guess.
😔published lines or a section of a fic that was super sad, angsty, or difficult to write?
SUGGESTION [Impossible: Failure] - “I don’t–why?  Why would anybody, when they could have–” with a gesture to the teasing ingenue “–this?” KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant’s posture, generally upright to begin with, straightens even further.  He shifts, plants his weight.  “Is this related to the case, officer?” EMPATHY [Heroic: Success] - This moment has weight, Harrier.  Step wrong, and for the remainder of this case, you will have a perfectly capable, perfectly professional partner–and then when it is over, you will never see Kim Kitsuragi again.  Forget whatever hopes you might have of friendship; forget installing those headlights, or games of Suzerainty.  He’s already closing himself away.  You can see him doing it. SHIVERS [Heroic: Success] - YOU CAN’T LET HIM. YOU - 1. [Suggestion - Legendary] - Apologize, and mean it.  Let it go. -1 When has Kim ever wanted your apologies? -2 There’s something here, Harry, and you’re losing it.  A door is closing.  Please be on the other side of it before it does. 2. [Drama - Heroic] - Tell Kim it is case related!  (Lie) -1 If you aren’t even wearing your mesh shirt, is your heart really in it? 3. [Inland Empire - Godly] - Tell Kim the truth. -1 What truth? +5 IT’S TIME. INLAND EMPIRE [Godly: Success] - You hear yourself say, as if from a distance, “No, Kim, it’s not–it’s–I–” but these words are meaningless, in the face of the truth.   Are you ready, Harrier Du Bois? YOU - 1. No. 2. I’m not. 3. Ever since I woke up in the Whirling-in-Rags, some part of me has been trying not to know this, hasn’t it?  So many of my memories hurt me.  Apricots, and letters hidden in ledgers.  The way I put my mouth around my gun before I sold it.  Now this, too?  Is there any part of my old life that isn’t pain? 4. But I’ve always known, haven’t I?  Deep, deep down.  I’m a tongue sliding again and again into an empty socket; I’m fingers that press at a wound until the scab tears, hoping for fresh blood.  I always touch the things that hurt me.  Nothing ever scars. YOU - No. DOMINANCE - Coward.
So that's my set, sorry for them being in Disco format (which is a lot to parse if you haven't played). Thank you for the tag!

progress report: happy pride!!!
let’s get it fellow queers
listening: i try my best to listen to new stuff, both the expand my music taste and to share with you guys, but these past few weeks, i've just been listening to mitski. so much so that she's shown up in most of the stories on spotify's new Only You thing. spotify got me with this one though
Tumblr media
but! right now im listening to this guy, gregory alan isakov. i haven't heard much but i'm liking what i've heard so far. early 2000's indie-folk got its hooks into me yet again
youtube
watched: a bunch of stuff, namely:
the invisible man (2020) - this one took a few tries to watch. the first try, my cousin made me change the movie because she couldn't handle the tension. we were only ten minutes in. i watched it by myself a few days later and i thought it was great. it's tense and will get you suspicious of empty hallways and doorframes. really good.
inside (2021) - my god where do i start with this special. i've already watched it twice and have been listening to some of the songs (particularly a funny feeling) on youtube. it's so raw and vulnerable and just.... incredible. i cannot put into words how much it has affected me. it reminded me of my most major depressive episode in 2016 or thereabouts and made me think back on how far i've gotten - and man i have gotten far. im in a genuinely better place now, mentally. i hope bo burnham is, too. i love him for making inside. it's a masterpiece.
youtube
army of the dead (2021) - zombie casino heist movie? hell yes. it's silly, ridiculous, campy fun that i fully enjoyed watching. what's funny is that i only know the places because of fallout: new vegas lmao. it reminded me a lot of the game, actually.
played: i got a functioning laptop now so i could play video games properly!! i've already installed two games: disco elysium and the outer worlds
disco elysium - the first time i played this, i died. got a heart attack by turning the fan light on and off. started a new game though, and did my best not to mess with the fan light. anyway, i like the game so far. i'm not that deep into it yet, but i do have to give props to the voice acting. it's phenomenal and im excited to hear more of it.
i haven't played much of the outer worlds but i do have a new oc for it hehehe. her name's katherine, nicknamed kitty; she was supposed to be the team mascot lmao
misc: ok, a lot of stuff happened since the last progress report. here's some of them:
my grandma got hospitalized twice in two months because of pneumonia/asthma/heart problems (?) we don't really know what's wrong. there are days where she's up and about and days where she just can't breathe right. im worried but im hoping for the best
she's in the hospital right now actually. my mom's with her. i hope they're doing ok and that they don't get covid while out there
i got a job!!! i start on the 21st :) it's a technical editor position where i will have to proofread and format medical documents. im pretty excited! mostly because of the salary! but also because it's not a writing job and there's no quota :') thank god

Tagged by @everyonewasabird - thanks!
1) how many works do you have on AO3?
48
2) what’s your total AO3 word count?
207,828
3) how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Let me go count 😂 I tend to write oneshots for random things then never write more for that fandom (when it even has what can be called a fandom lol)
Hmm, something like 24?
Les Mis and Harry Potter are definitely what I’ve written for the most. I’ve written a fair bit of Star Wars stuff as well, but most of that is unpublished wips.
4) what are your top five fics by kudos?
Oh god, I don’t like the first two anymore
1. Mr. Harry Potter, a trans guy!Harry ficlet (this was originally just a headcanon post)
2. Practice, a B99 bi trans guy!Jake ficlet
3. Aching for You, MDZS Wangxian porn with plot (that novel blue balled me lmao)
4. Just Like That, Disco Elysium Harry/Kim (I still really like this one, it was one of the first in that tag too)
5. Handsome as ever, Doctor Who fic where Thirteen and her companions meet Jack Harkness (written before his canon reappearance)
5) do you respond to comments? why or why not?
Usually, yeah. Not if it’s just a heart of a single word comment, though. Not that I don’t appreciate those comments, there’s just not really anything to respond to. If someone does it on every chapter of a longer fic, I might go like “thanks for taking the time to comment!” on one of them to show that I appreciate it.
6) what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmm, I’m more of a hurt/comfort than outright angst sort of guy... particularly in terms of endings, I really like things to be really angsty but then end on that note of “things are going to be okay”?
That said, it’s probably In Other Circumstances, a fic based on the movie Joyeux Noël, which is already fairly angsty, given the subject matter (that time during WW1 opposing armies celebrated Christmas together). That, or the Dumbledore fic To Be At Peace.
7) do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really. I do have a little bit of a Les Mis/Order of the Phoenix mash-up where Dumbledore’s Army do a student activism after Dumbledore is sacked (Lamarque is dead!) lying around somewhere, but I think that’s about it. God, that was a good idea though. I should get back on that some day.
8) have you ever received hate on a fic?
I think I once got one from a terf on that trans!Harry one but it was pretty vague lol
9) do you write smut? if so what kind?
Yeah, occasionally. I have a lot of kinks in the bdsm area of things, so that’s always pretty apparent in the smut I write. I just think power dynamics are sexy lmao
A lot of the smut I’ve written is original work stuff though, so that’s not up in the same place as my fanfic.
10) have you ever had a fic stolen?
Doubt it
11) have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, Just Like That was translated into Chinese.
I’ve also personally translated a Odin/Loki fic I wrote in Danish into English. Fun fact, it’s way harder to translate than if I’d written it in English in the first place. I like to write fic in Danish where it makes sense to, though.
12) have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I’ve partcipated in events where I’ve drawn and the other person written, but never co-written. Frankly I’m not even sure how that works.
13) what’s your all-time favourite ship?
Gah, idk. All-time, huh? I shift between fandoms too much for that.
Obviously I ship Enjolras/Grantaire a lot and have for a long time, but then I’m also super particular about what I want that to look like lol.
I still really love Sirius/Remus even after all these years. Disco Elysium’s Harry/Kim deserves mention here as well, although that’s a lot newer, so it’s difficult to talk about in an “all-time” sense.
Despite not really caring about any aspect of Marvel anymore, I also still really love Matt/Foggy from the Netflix version of Daredevil.
14) what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
A lot of unposted stuff 😂 Maybe once I finish Elysium I’ll pick one of those up again... If it’s a wip I care about, I won’t start posting it till I have a good sense that I’ll continue being able to update.
15) what are your writing strengths?
Hmm, I think I’m good at inserting myself into the mindset of the protagonist. This is also why I practically never write alternating pov, I’m filtering everything through that protagonist so shifting around would be harder. Dialogue tends to come easily to me as well.
16) what are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions, moving characters around in space in particular. On a more meta level, plotting things out to the right degree where I still actually want to write it but I’m also going in a particular direction. Just... plot, in general, really.
17) what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Generally speaking, if my character speaks the language in question, the dialogue will be rendered in the same language as the rest of the text with a dialogue tag like “he said in German” or w/e. If they do not, the dialogue will be rendered in the actual language being spoken.
Of course this is also hugely guided but what languages I personally speak. I will never use google translate for something like that because I personally find it infuriating when people do that lmao. It’s like saying “Hey, you, who actually speak this language? This isn’t for you. Fuck you. This is just here for flavor. Surely no-one who actually speaks this language will ever come across this.” I’m sure that’s not what most people who do that are thinking, but that’s what it feels like to read. So I won’t do that.
I can’t recall if I’ve done this in anything that’s up anywhere, but if I wanted to include a foreign phrase I would either use Danish, use triple checked German or ask someone I know who speak a given language about the phrase in that language. Or, you know, just use an established quote.
An exception is Latin, particularly for Les Mis fic, where I follow the brick’s habit of rendering Latin untranslated, despite the pov character understanding it (but again, these are always established phrases).
If I wrote something in Danish taking place in the modern day, I would render English untranslated as well, since that is just how young Danes talk and I can assume that 99.99% of potential readers will be able to understand it either way (this, I think we can assume, is also what was going on with Latin at the time Hugo was writing).
18) what was the first fandom you wrote for?
Probably Harry Potter. That, or Avatar: The Last Airbender. I don’t really remember. The first thin I put on FFnet was certainly Harry Potter, though.
19) what’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Predictably it’s On the Path to Elysium. As I’ve mentioned before, I wasn’t really able to write long things before Elysium. Most of my fics are oneshots and while I really like oneshots, I had long been frustrated that I never managed to get any of my longer ideas off the ground. Elysium represents a lot of growth for me as a writer.
Apart from that, like I said, I’m still very fond of Just Like That, if nothing else then because I wrote it in an emulation of how the game itself is written.
I tag @thebearmuse @teddy-stonehill @antirococoreaction (no pressure ofc, just if any of you think it looks fun)
