Low-hanging fruit, but BuckTaylor. I disliked the first implications of it when I watched 2x06 (Dosed) and I continued to dislike it through the end of S5. I know it was for storyline and character development reasons, but good lord I hated every minute of it. Goodbye forever miss reporter!

Not abandoned as in I don't like the ship anymore, but abandoned as in I don't want to engage with it anymore: I used to love slow-burn Jily fics. JKR took away any joy I found in that.

The Rookie, to the point that I consider Chenford my blorbos-in-law! I'm also getting a lot of Critical Role exposure from three different directions (my dash, my sister, and two people in another fandom discord).

Can I ask a candid question? Is it surprising or actually upsetting for writers when Flormes or any other romantic relationship with OCs is not welcome with open arms or mind in stories that are about the love of established beloved couples 😆? I thought that was why they were added, to be rejected and booed by the audience and then rejoiced once they're finally over? 😅

I will add that I think there's a difference between characters and relationships, i.e. I'm dreading Flormes something fierce, but I actually like Florence and find her character arc very interesting! It's the kind of arc that couldn't be done with existing characters because they have different life circumstances from her, but is still interesting to explore. So I guess what I wanted to add that despite why those 'ships' may exist and how we feel about them, it's not necessary for the negativity to bleed onto the character itself, unless they deserve it (coughhighhorse)

LOL. Ok, so the short answer is no, it is not surprising or upsetting. I did not insert Florence into this story with the idea that she was going to win everyone over and everyone was going to be like “hey, you know what? This Florence gal is pretty nice, forget Jily, she is right for James.” 😂😂😂

(If that happened I’d be pretty upset actually hahaha.)

That said, I have been a *little* surprised by the intensity of the Florence hate, particularly since I got nothing near that response for any other past jily romantic interests (Anson and his high horse!). I get rather a lot of Florence-related asks, and I haven’t been posting all of them lately because I don’t want to swamp everyone’s dash with constant Flormes. 😅 (my apologies if I haven’t gotten to yours yet, I promise it’s not personal! I love you!)

Most of them are all in good fun and I super enjoy the discourse! I don’t ever want to give the impression I don’t. I LOVE hearing from people, and as a writer, any time I can elicit strong emotions from my readers, it is extremely gratifying. Flormes has certainly done that. 😉

I do however get some Florence asks that are just…a little hostile in tone. And I don’t always love that because it’s just an uncomfortable vibe to field, idk. I totally get not celebrating another romantic interest for James! We’re all here for the jily! But, it’s also a story and there have to be obstacles so some of the really vehement asks I’ve gotten in the past have kind of confused me. Like, I don’t know what to do with that because if we didn’t have a little angst and conflict we wouldn’t have a plot. 😂

And I think with Florence what has surprised me a little are the suggestions that she is some sort of Machiavellian, evil, plotting bitch. Like everything she does is deeply suspicious and calculated to hurt Lily. I did not write Florence to be a crowd favorite, but I did attempt to write her as a flawed, occasionally ignorant, privileged but mostly decent person, so those asks always throw me for a loop a little. 😅

Anyway, tl;dr: I love the discourse, I love all y’all, don’t always love some of the most vehement negativity 😂❤️
